I went today to buy a tosted bagel with extra butter lol and a regular coffee and as soon as I walked-in the whole staff (No kidding) said Good Morning, honestly you don't get that in some places in NYC! The cooker checked my bagel few times of time to make sure that it was well toasted and the guy who make my coffee follow my instructions ( Black Coffee with milk, not to dark not light and no sugar) he told to check my coffee to see is that was the way I wanted and yes it was. Many people think this is the best burger in Manhattan. While I didn't think it was the BEST, it's definitely now in the running for me. It's a small little dinner in Gramercy that seems unassuming and even slightly out of place. They have a small outdoor seating area, but we sat inside. We were the only ones in the place, but it was a super hot Saturday. We got two burgers, medium rare deluxe, one with fries, the other with onion rings. The service was pleasant and attentive enough. They were extremely busy with to-go orders. This was during COVID, so mask and gloves on the waiters were still a thing. Our burgers came fairly quickly. And wow, after months of unseasoned patties on the UES, it was a real treat to taste one that was actually seasoned. The medium rare came out well. There is a solid crust on the burger. The cheese on both buns is inspired. The sesame bun could be high quality -- but it was nice to see a sesame bun in public. Both the fries and onion rings were delicious and fresh. No taste of old oil. Really impressive. Pleased with this place, they make a solid burger for sure. read more

This is my favorite diner in the city, hands down. I've enjoyed many meals here ranging from a quick solo meal at the counter to bringing family here for a quick, quality breakfast. Some of my favorite things to order are: Blueberry pancakes - These are so light and fluffy. I usually skip any sides when I order this because they're huge. Also a great thing to order to split something sweet with the table. Patty melt - This is a classic you can't go wrong with. The patty is juicy and topped with perfectly fried onions. The rye is arguably the best part - It soaks up all the grease on the griddle and is absolutely scrumptious. Two eggs over easy with rye - Again, the rye here is a stand out. This is my go-to diner breakfast order when I'm feeling something savory and it never disappoints. If you're looking for a classic NYC greasy spoon this is it. read more

My friend (dude in the picture) said this was the best dinner burger in NYC. There was only one way to find out. I wont say it is the best but it was exceptional, simple and satisfying. 1000% going back. It's post Rona so we sat outside, seating was a cinch. 3 friends and I all ordered burgers, accept for one lady in the crew. She got a classic turkey club sandwich and hated it. Looks good, but dry. Sorry, back to the burger. All the classic toppings you could think of, juicy (I ordered mine Medium because I'm an adult)..... and only 13 bucks. Almost forgot. The classic sesame seed bun! Just the right size and type. Not overwhelming or trying to steal the show. (Aesthetically, it kinda does steal the show though... looks like a Bob's Burgers burger.) Double Cheese! Yes, double cheese. Bomb. The fries and onion rings were great. Next time I'm ordering onion rings, I had to take my friends and it wasn't enough. I saw this on some list for best burgers in nyc. It surprised me but I figured to try because I was in the area. It is a typical diner with an old school vibe to it. They have an open kitchen and the food comes out quick. The burger was solid with a juicy patty. Idk about the best one I have had but it was good. 7.8 out of ten. The onion rings however were out of a bag. No bueno. The chicken noodle soup was also a typical diner comfort food. Nice spot but I would have it at 3.5. A great hangover recovery spot I ordered two eggs (over-easy) with turkey bacon, home fries, and buttered rye bread. A simple breakfast but what I really liked about this diner is the over easy eggs had the whites fully cooked through yet the yolks were runny! The turkey bacon was crispy and not dry/burnt and the home fries were delicious. I like how there wasn't salt added to the home fries so that I could control the flavor using the spices at our table to adjust it to my tastes. The environment of this diner is nice- you can sit at the bar top and get served right by the cooks, eat outside/enjoy the sun and coffee next to real plants, or sit at a normal table indoors. FYI if you enjoy eating by yourself at times this place is nice to eat alone and recover. I went there at 8am on a Sunday and most people were either alone or a party of 2. Will be coming again for lunch another time (noticed they're known for their hamburgers and excited to try them)! read more

I was disappointed by Joe Jr. I have read so many reviews and articles about how great Joe Jr. is. I love a diner burger but the burger I got was really tasteless. The meat was tender but I don't remember the last time I had a burger that had no taste. The service is typical diner service. I sat at the bar which was fine. The burger came out fairly quickly maybe a little over done. The real positive is the price here. The burgers are very reasonable but I am not sure that is enough to get me back. I am a HUGE fan of Joe Jr. Restaurant, and I've come here a lot over the years. I love diners in general, but this place is much better than a lot of the overpriced places in New York. First of all, the hours here are amazing. They're open 7 days a week from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, so you never have to worry about whether their open (well, assuming normal hours). They even operate, generally speaking, on public/national holidays. I can't say this always applies, but I visited them on labor day and the guy kind of just laughed when I asked why they weren't taking a day off. I don't know if the burger here is really the best in New York, as many people have claimed. However it is damn good, and it's made fresh and served in front of you at a blazing speed. The fries are good here, and they have a wide variety of foods if you don't happen to want a burger. I hear the chicken dinner is a great deal. In addition to all of this, they have a nice selection of desserts here. Don't get the tuna melt though. $10 credit card minimum, but they've let me slide on this in the past. read more

The fries, immaculate they were, tasted like they were well acquainted with, and breathed the same air as other diner staples. Given the cozy floor plan, the waiters will keep an attentive eye. I went with a group of six and it was doable, albeit a squeeze. The stools look cocked but you don't even feel it. Keeping a place like this in the condition it's in is a marvel of management. This is a small restaurant so it get busy fast you might have to wait to get a table but its worth it. They also have take out. The prices are good. Pretty good for diner food but I got ripped off for my second visit, so it's a love-hate kind of feeling. We visited first time for dinner, got Onion soup- could bake a little longer so the cheese is more burnt, but the taste was pretty good. Burger- it does taste like quality burger, however the meat itself is quite tasteless, not really my favorite. French Toast- very good super tasty! My second visit was for togo during weekday breakfast, I got the two scrambled eggs with sausages. I waited 20 minutes there....
