I've ate here twice now and over all I would say this is a very average restaurant. The best part is the location. In the summer, if you can sit outside I would highly recommend it. There is a great view of the water. The service has been average when I've been here before. The cocktails where good when I came here the first time. As for the food, the first time I came here, I got the lobster roll with broccoli. Definitely not the best lobster roll I've ever had but good. The broccoli tasted like they had a frozen bag in the back and heated it up in the microwave. The second time I came, I got the Cure burger which was much better. Honestly a really good burger. The fries that came with it were also very good. I ordered a side of Mac and cheese which was really good but definitely very small for the price. Probably wouldn't get that again just cause I don't think it's worth the money. Over all, this is a good option if you want something easy by the water. My chili was lukewarm. Meh. The tuna was fantastic. The ice tea was watered down. They can't get the coffee to be hot. The server--Joseph--was perplexed about what "hot coffee" meant. Honestly the mushroom juicy Lucy was no different than the shake shack mushroom burger except for the fact that it cost two times as much. I appreciate that the menu labeled items that were vegetarian, but only offering one vegetarian entree seems a little sad to me if you're making the distinction on your dishes anyways. A lot of people don't like mushrooms, and even though I do there was nothing special about this sandwich. The fries were meh too, not really a lot of flavor. Roughly 20seats at the bar and about 30 tables/high tops/booths inside and around 12tables outside on a patio beside the harbor. There is a kids playground and a large grassy park with benches across the sidewalk if you have children and need to kill some time before eating (or let the kids burn off some energy before sitting at a table for an hour). Joe's Waterfront is a nice restaurant located on a beautiful waterfront. To cut to the chase, the Mac and Cheese is amazing. If I was a local I'd be a frequent customer because of the Mac and Cheese. My only complaint was I do feel like our waitress misled us about portion sizes and she didn't really do a great job at describing the menu. The side Mac and cheese also was almost the same size as the regular Mac and cheese. But overall I had a great experience. read more

We came around 2:00 PM on a Wednesday and we're sat outside by the waterfront with an amazing view immediately. Service was efficient and the employees were nice. First thing we ordered was the Raw Combo Platter and added on the lobster cocktail for 20 for a total of $62. The oysters were fresh but very lean, there was 4. The shrimp huge and crunchy, there was 4. There was also a handful of lump crumb that was absolutely delicious in the mayo based sauce. There was also a bit of lobster that was super fresh. $62 for a sample platter may seem excessive but it was fresh and nice to eat. (4/5) Next, we ordered the tuna tartare. We only got 4 chips for the amount of dip which was sad but the fish was fresh and the avocado was delicious with the soy sauce.(4/5) We also ordered the Joe's Mac and cheese with the lobster for $12 extra for a total of $28. It was a bit small. I don't think the taste was super good and it was honestly it was really salty. (1/5) The clam chowder was $10 but it was super tiny! Waters were never refilled beyond the first glass, drinks were ordered once and never asked about refills, server always acted like she was trying to get away to go do something else. My fish tacos didn't really taste like much of anything and several oysters had a strange beige film over them. Yesterday at lunch time we were looking for a place to have a meal. Our ferry to Salem had just been cancelled due to high seas. We spotted the outdoor dining of Joe's and decided to give it a try. We were hungry as we didn't have breakfast because we got up early to take the FastFerry to Cape Cod but (you guessed it) the seas were way to high for that as well. The waitstaff was very friendly and seated us in the area of our choice which was very nice as it was windy, sunny and 70 degrees. The waitress was quick with the order and our food was served under my 10 minute. The food looked great and tasted the same. I elected to go burger and fries. The State Burger was recommended and it was a class act burger. This place is a little expensive but you pay for the view and proximity to the Long Wharf. My daughter order the fish and chips and the fish was outstanding! The think steak fries are a welcome change. This place warrants a try. All the food we ordered was GREAT! read more

Maine Lobster Roll was delicious. We also ordered the Crispy Calamari which was incredible. Ribeye was a tad overcooked (ordered medium rare) and needed a little salt. Service was great. Been living in Boston for almost my entire life and never came here until recently. Big mistake. Service - Came in at 6 with my family. Nobody came to give us water or greet us at our table for 35 minutes. Had to ask someone to come and get our server a few times. When our server did come by, they were very apologetic. It was an extremely busy day and the place was packed, but 35 minutes is a bit much. We still tipped our server well and didn't give them a hard time because I've worked in the service industry for years and understand how taxing it can be. But again, 35 minutes? Food - Ordered oysters and a few entrees. The oysters were sent back immediately. They were yellow and very questionable looking. Some of the shells were actually empty, as if someone had eaten one already or the oyster meat itself just.. fell out? The other entrees we got were just okay. We all got different things, but none of us were impressed. The food quality is equal to that of a big chain, like Outback, but the prices are absurd. They took off the oysters from our bill, and with three entrees, the cost was still $120 without tip. Ambiance - Definitely a tourist trap. We should have known better as we've lived in Boston our whole life, but we brought our dog and there aren't many outdoor patios that allow animals now. The entire restaurant was packed to the brim with people who looked like tourists and just wanted to get a bite to eat after a baseball game. Lots of screaming kids. Not a lot to enjoy about the ambience aside from the semi-decent view of the water. Would give one star, but I want to be fair that we sort of had an idea of what we were signing up for. We went here for dinner as a last minute choice and needed to bring our dog. Overall, don't come here. The view is NOT worth it. Several times during dinner we mentioned that we should have just picked up some food from elsewhere and eaten it on one of the many public benches/tables right next to the restaurant that have a much better view anyways. read more

STAFF: Friendly, but disorganized. We put our names on a waitlist and we're told 20 minutes. 20 minutes came and went...as we watched other people walk up and get seated before us. Finally, we went up to ask how much longer and they could not even find us on their list. We were standing there waiting the whole time. So, they never called our name. There were four different girls working the front and they still forgot about us. They didn't even apologize! FOOD: we both ordered burgers and neither was very good. I ordered a lamb burger simply because it is so hard to find one on a Boston menu. Knowing that lamb dries out easily and should never be overcooked, I asked for mine medium. What I got was a flavorless, dried out very well done leathery lamb Burger. The minute I picked it up for my first bite, it leaked out a plate full of water and fat. So, I could no longer set my burger down on my plate. The severely over cooked lamb continued to drip like a leaky faucet, leaving a very unappetizing plate full of fat as our centerpiece. (Pics to follow) So that the chef would know this was not how you cook lamb, I did tell the waiter what happened. Having worked in restaurants for 15 years, I do not send food back, as I have seen too much abuse of returned food go on into many kitchens. Joe's was the only place with outdoor seating I could find on an unusually beautiful November day. I had to wait for a table but it only took 10 minutes. We were able to be seated near the water, though there is a walking path that separates the tables from actually being on the water. I've had Joe's at another location and the food never wows but its at least decent. Today I ordered a lobster roll, market price was $30. This was the worst lobster roll I've ever had, and I order a lot of lobster rolls. The bun itself was a classic lobster roll bun, but it wasn't cut even half of the way through. It was like a small pocket had been created inside the roll for the tiniest amount of lobster. The bread to lobster ratio was offensive. I ordered it hot and buttered. Our decision to stay was because of our server Rahshon. It turned out to be an excellent choice for a variety of reason. From the moment we arrived until we headed back towards our hotel after dinner at Joe's our experience couldn't have been better. Our good luck was to have Rahshon as our server. Not only was he prompt, welcoming, and efficient, but he also made our meal a special event. The food was great and the service could not have been better. Early on a Monday night, my wife and I tried Joe's Waterfront. Despite the restaurant being 80% empty, we were seated at an interior table and waited for 20 minutes without water, much less any other service. Despite then twice asking one of the many waitstaff noisily socializing with each other to bring us water and menus, nothing. We then asked the manager to send someone over, waited another 15 minutes with nothing, and told the manager we were ready to leave. Her response: "I understand completely". We left. It is rare that we leave negative reviews, but this was an extraordinarily unpleasant experience we will not return. There are probably 20 quite good restaurants within a 5-minute walk of this one - that's where you should go. read more

Also switched all the tv channels to game 4 of the 2019 NBA finals in which the Raptors surprisingly blew out the Golden State Warriors (completely irrelevant). Anyways, I stole one of my friends' fried calamari apps and I can't front, it was hitting with the jalapeño flavors all on it. I feel like I ate someone else's food and it was good to.
