The food at Joey's is always good. My issue is with the bartender. There is a bartender there most times we go who is less than friendly. She's an older woman with blonde hair. We have been in often on Monday nights between 8:45 - 9p and have received major attitude from this woman. Now, I am aware this is pretty late to arrive at a restaurant for dinner (especially on a Monday), but my boyfriend and I are coming from a commitment that ends at that hour. Joey's does not have closing hours listed on their door and both Google and Yelp say they close at 9:30p. The last time we were there on a Monday night it was 8:50p (ish). And like always she made a face and gave us attitude. We asked if the kitchen was still open and her response was "I think so. You always come in at this time." I'm not really able to convey her rudeness in a quote. It's not what she says it's how she says it. We understand if the kitchen is closed. My boyfriend has worked in food service and gets how they feel about late comers. We would rather you tell us the kitchen closed down for the night than be a b**ch about it. We have also been there at other times and sat at the bar and she's still not very nice, yet we see her laughing and chatting with obvious regulars. You may want to remind her that all customers should be treated as regulars and all customers tip. We tip based on service and friendliness. I'm not sure how she's making a living. read more

I used to eat at Joey's when it was over by Coe's Pond and I really liked the food and the bar....they moved recently and while they still have a great bar I think the food needs work. First, the lunch salads are little more than lettuce or spinach with rather bland dressing offerings. I have eaten here three times since the move and I have not enjoyed my food but I have only had the soup and salads. The menu seems like there are very few choices also..... read more

This place was surprisingly delicious and wonderful. Our server was friendly, the atmosphere is great - the decor is very modern and well done. We got bruschetta as an appetizer and it was delicious. The bread they give you before the meal is a nice focaccia with some dipping oil. Yum! I ordered a fish dish for my main meal and it was delicious - perfectly cooked and it had an Asian slaw with some sort of wasabi cream sauce on it that was amazing! My date got the porkchop and although slightly overcooked, he still enjoyed it very much. Overall, very tasty. A little pricier than you would expect when you pull in the parking lot, but it was worth it for a really nice night and delicious meal. Great place for a date! read more

Love, Love, Love Joeys. Havent been in the area for the last 4 years but I soon found out that one thing has not changed in Worcester.....Joey's is still a unique and amazing place to dine. I know I used to be ln love with the crandberry nut salad, so much in love that I ordered it everytime. This time i tried the Frangelico chicken with butternut squash ravoli per recomendation of the salon I was at that was bragging that they just got takeout from there and it was amazing! They were so right! My Lord, thoses flavors just jump around on your tounge. All I can say is , "wow!". That paired with the apple-crisp martini, and again, I fell in love with Joeys. My date had the spinach pie and a side salad both equally as delishous, especially the maple vinegrette! I am excited to get to Joeys again very soon, maybe even order takeout, If I remember correctly, in the summer months you can even eat outside on the water. Very cool place. It's a good place! My husband and I were regulars when they were on mill street and I've been there twice at the new location. Soups and pasta always fresh. Never had a bad meal. We've only been there for lunch, not dinner. The prices for lunch are reasonable. I always get the soup of the day and never been disappointed. My husband always get the lunch special and I always get the chicken parm. Sooo good!! read more

Wow is all I can say. I have been to Joey's numerous times but my wife and I were blown away with this experience. The appetizer of caramelized shrimp was great and hit the spot. Went for the first time Saturday night (8-25-12) Food was outstanding. I had the Pork, wrapped in bacon, with Gorgonzola cheese. It was phenomenal, so glad i got that. Other people in the party got the egg plant, lots of compiments on that and the burger, it was done as asked and very good. The appitizer Calimari was great, one of the best i've had and we all got dessert which was memorable as well. overall we loved it and can't wait to go back. One area for improvement was our waitress, while the food came out very quickly even though it was busy, we had to wait a while for her. she was overwelmed and acted like she was. read more

Our first time for a 50th birthday dinner, we were a party of 8, and every one of us thought our meals were delicious! We had the lobster ravioli, prime rib special, ny sirloin, chicken, veal and eggplant parm with spinach and mushroom ravioli, and the eggplant parm. Mouthwatering. Been here about a dozen times, and feel it is appropriate to finally write a review. I must say this is the go-to place for Friday nights for both my fiancé and I. Never disappointed with the service or the food quality. Prices are reasonable, and they always have outstanding specials. You may have to wait a bit if you go during busy hours since the place always has a crowd (this is a testament to the quality of the place). Will continue coming here. read more

Went here for the third time last night- first time was during Worcester Restaurant week last year, and it has been great every time. We sat at the bar once, and in the dining area twice, and have had great service everywhere. The hostess and waitstaff are super friendly and helpful, and very welcoming. Dress- I'd say casual, but nice casual- the place has a nice, adult atmosphere. The owner is super friendly and seems to takes a lot of pride in the place- serving meals, chatting with the patrons, working the bar. It's great to see that pride of ownership translate to high quality, and its reflected everywhere at Joey's. Last night's meal was top notch as usual- we both got specials- my husband a cod dish on parmesan risotto, and I got a lamb rib chop special with mashed potatoes and asparagus. This was after the yummy foccacia with dipping oil, and the sweet chili glazed wings we had for an app. I made sure to only eat half my entree, as their desserts are really good too, and the portion sizes pretty substantial. Last night we went with a creme brulee and a slice of lemon cake with buttercreme icing- both were amazing. We've also had the chocolate banana bread pudding and the peanut butter cup cake in the past- all really good! Drinks- I tried a couple of their summer selections last night- blueberry margarita was one of the best margaritas I've ever had, and the cherry rum lemonade was a nice sweet-tart drink as well. Prices are higher than average, but WORTH IT for the food and service you get here. Its become one of our favorite places to go in the Worcester area and really anywhere for that matter. read more

We have been to Joey's twice in their new location on Chandler Street. Both times we sat in the bar area and found it to be very comfortable and inviting. The seating area in the bar is very large and it always seems to be full of friendly people. The antipasto was a traditional italian delight, with pleasant mix of meats and greens. The Tuscan Calamari was generously portioned and cooked perfectly. The appetizers were so large that much of the entrees were packaged for home. Joey's Burger was large, served on a brioche roll, and the meat was thick and juicy. It was a very tasty burger. The meatballs and pasta were homemade I was told, and they tasted as such. Delicious and large is the theme here. The staff was friendly and professional. Throughout the evening I saw a gentleman running around with a dishtowel over his shoulder bussing tables. It seemed strange that this guy was talking to just about everyone he ran into. As it turned out, that was Joey, the owner. After seeing that, it was settled for me: This is our new go-to restaurant. 1st time on a Friday night. Short 20 minute wait at a very nice bar. Shared a Lobster Rangoon appetizer between 4 of us. I enjoyed the seafood special which was shrimp, scollop and swordfish over very fresh pasta with a plum tomato sauce. Excellent! My wife enjoyed the marinated steak tips with mashed potatoes and veggies. Prices were very fair for the portions and a very nice atmosphere. It did tend to get loud at times which made hearing conversations difficult, but the food made up for that. read more

Have eaten here many times. The food and service are typically very good. The wife and I decided at the last minute to stop there early on a Friday evening. It was only 5:00 pm so we didn't think there would be a problem getting seated quickly. We walked in the door and before I could utter a word the hostess exclaimed that we could not be seated because all tables had been reserved for the evening. Looking around nearly half the tables were empty and I pointed that out. I got a shoulder shrug in return and was told that we could sit at the bar (which was completely full at the time). I know that most restaurants hold a few tables for walk-ins but that is apparently not the case at Joey's. The lesson is that you are taking a chance if you walk in without reservations. This review is primarily geared to the hostess for that evening. Her abrupt demeanor and unapologetic approach are the opposite of what makes for good service. We don't like to make reservations and as such will not chance this happening again. read more

One of, if not THE thing I miss most about Worcester. Great atmosphere and even better food. I am a huge fan of eggplant which is hard to cook and easy to screw up. Stopped here on a Friday night with the Hubby. Waitress brought us a basket of homemade bread with dipping oil to start. We ordred Lobster Rangoon (yum) and Clam Chowder to Start. I had the Salmon special (cooked very well), which came with polenta (also cooked properly), and a side of colorful crisp veggies. Hubby ordered surf and turf-- he cleaned his plate (and mine), so it must have been good. I had one mixed drink, hubby ordered 2 draft local brewery beers. With the tip, our bill was $100. Service was excellent, and everyone was friendly. ONLY COMPLAINT, is there was a strong fish odor when we first walked in. I did not notice the smell once we were seated. I liked the look of the menu--it was very manageable (I hate when restaurants have 10,000 items to pick from--no one can prepare that many things well in one night.) Everything on the menu looked like something I would enjoy. I also thought all three specials sounded delicious. We had a hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded so good. I would definately go back and try more items on the menu. (I think we were paid a friendly visit by the owner, but I can't be sure if it was him. I would give this restaurant a 5 star review except for one important issue. When specials are told to diners the price should be included. When you are with a group no one wants to ask "how much?" One assumes that a special would be the average cost of a dinner...it was not. Our table ordered three specials and the price of each was no where near the price of an average entree. They were good but so was every other dish that was ordered and cost at least $10 less than the special. Food was excellent, service outstanding. No wonder their parking lot was full. My only advice is to include the price when quoting specials so a diner can make a good decision without feeling "cheap" in front of their friends. read more

My husband and I went out in a Saturday celebrating a job promotion. Had no idea reservations would be almost a necessity. We heard Joey's was a nice spot for dinner through friends and family. The hostess asked if we had a reservation (it was packed!) and we didn't. She was very kind, and within minutes, She managed to find us a spot and we could not have been more pleased! The app we chose (ribs) was excellent and our waitress recommended the meatloaf special and a burger special that was tasty, fresh and enough for lunch for both of us the next day.
