I've visited La Co in the past just once for a birthday event and it was a really nice area for a fairly large group. Rain ended up pouring, but the only bad part was moving from one covered area to another to pay. I ventured back to La Co due to some shops having events and decided to eat dinner. We ordered a taco salad, burger, Miller and soda. The service was spot on, I mean the waiter was so quick and helpful with everything! The pricing is really why I drop it a star and only because I paid $13 for a taco salad that had basically two quarter size chunks of chicken and about 4ish dime size pieces. The bowl wasn't even that full of salad, it was mostly cheese and layered with black beans to make it look semi-full. I don't think I would be back just due to the price of the food. The food tastes great, but to me is completely not worth the price associated. I'll be back to visit the nice shops but definitely not for the food. read more

The rebrand and new menu is working for Jojo's. I recently went for a friend's birthday and had a lovely time. The servers were attentive and did well. The brussel sprouts were delicious! I got the burger which was ok, the patty was cooked to well done when I asked for medium well and could've been better seasoned. The toppings and fries were great though! Wow! La Cocina is one of my favorite restaurants with outdoor seating. It's one of my favorites because my dog is welcome! I love that they have live music playing while you enjoy dinner. They have a bar that's enclosed and is super cute inside! If you're over 21 make sure to order the prickly pear margarita with salt on the rim. It's amazing! We came here after a disappointing mishap with our reservation at nearby El Charro. We were delighted to find a very friendly restaurant with decent food and great live music (on a Wednesday!). While the food is good it's the ambience of the outdoor patio that makes this place well worth the visit. read more

It's probably been a few years now since I've come to LaCo, though I'm not sure why. It's definitely a place worth visiting! About 90% of their seating is outdoor though so be sure to dress appropriately for the time of year you'll be visiting. The tacos are delicious and the Chile rellenos is extra crispy. What more can be said about La Cocina than has already been said! Dining on a outdoor patio amidst mesmerizing lights on the trees, a beautiful little pond with fish and turtles and live music is such an amazing experience. Perfect for a romantic date night, group events or just to hang out with friends and family. Seriously, they have the coolest outdoor patio in Tucson. They have heaters on during the cooler months, so you can still enjoy dining outdoor. They are pretty crowded on any day, so be prepared to wait and do check out their cute gift shop as you wait, that sells local arts and crafts and little goodies. If you are looking to buy Tucson special gifts, this is a great shop, creative gifts and reasonable prices. I only wish the food was as good. The menu is versatile - mediterranean, asian, mexican, italian, vegan options, they have something on the menu for everyone. Anything I've had so far here was just alright, nothing impressive and could have been better. The portions are also small, but again that works out for me. The service is pretty laidback, but I am in no rush. I am here to chill, relax and enjoy the evening and feel the vibe. This place is going to be my recommended tourist stop to all my out of town guests. read more

The ambiance wins the day at this location, but I am not sure about the service or food. I came with a big group of people, and they were recovering from an unexpected slam, so we were warned it would take a while. And take a while it did. Fortunately, we ordered appetizers, as they kept the crowd going. The servers were super friendly, perhaps because they seemed to know one of our party personally, and they were doing their best. Unfortunately, when it came time to receive our food, there was a non-trivial error. After the long wait, my burrito that I had specifically ordered vegan (and the server even acknowledged I had done so) came non-vegan. I had to wait a while to flag someone down, and they sent it back to the kitchen to remake it. I waited again a lengthy wait, and finally when my friends were more or less done with their entrees (and at least an hour after we arrived), my correct entree came out. There was a brief "sorry," but nothing else was done to reflect the error. (I expected at least that they might knock one of my drinks off the bill or something for the incredibly long wait due to their error.) The burrito itself ended up not being very good, which was a disappointment. I didn't even finish it, nor was interested in bringing it home with me. Yet, in the end the ambiance and atmosphere won the day, with the great artisan shops to visit, and the outdoor seating. I have wonderful memories of that afternoon with my friends, so La Cocina wins an extra star for that. But, I am still a little burned out on the slow service and subpar food. read more

Love the patio here! It's full of white lights and greenery everywhere with a beautiful fountain in the center of the courtyard. That's one of the reasons we chose to come here was for the ambience. Unfortunately, the night we came it was raining and we ate inside but you can still see the courtyard from inside the restaurant and we could still enjoy the scenery. Now for the food... I chose the La Co Nicoise Salmon salad and it was delicious. It was full of arugula, smoked salmon, baby red potatoes, hard boiled eggs, roasted veggies and I believe a mustard vinaigrette. It was a burst of flavor in every bite and very filling! My husband had the special of the night which was a gumbo. It had the usual ingredients a gumbo does, sausage, shrimp & rice with alot of flavor. He really enjoyed it but he wished the portion size was a lil bigger. Overall we had a great experience. We were very happy with the customer service and the prices are very reasonable. We definitely will be coming back especially when we can enjoy the patio outside and eat next to the pretty fountain on a nice sunny day! read more

Wow! One of the best places in Tucson! Excellent atmosphere, food, and service. We dined here on a pretty busy night in May right by gradation, but the service was spot on even with the high traffic level. We chose tacos, several salads (taco and Moroccan chicken) and pesto pasta. All were delicious, and the margaritas were also excellent. There are many different choices of margaritas, too many to name. Even though this place is downtown, tough parking usually, there is a huge parking garage right nearby. There could have been a mistake, but we ended up paying zero for parking! Totally enjoyable evening, I want to visit here every time I return to Tucson. read more

Had a wonderful experience here! I love supporting local, and this cute little place was perfect! We originally were planning on going to a restaurant across the street, however they were closed for a summer break. We noticed the entrance and decided to give it a shot. It was lunch time, and we had a Desert Rose Margarita, some sort of spritz, a chicken Cobb salad and a turkey pesto sandwich. Everything was delicious and we ate almost every bite. In addition to the cute decor (we sat next to the turtle pond) our server Ella was great! Very friendly and attentive. La Cocina is the more lively and social of the two. It is a lovely and very unique space that beautifully combines a bar, venue and open courtyard space to create a decadent feel and experience. But it is not extravagant or pretentious. Instead, it is one of those space that is truly homegrown and very loved, and loves you back. And it is a lush location, full of lovely vegetation with lots and lots of plants and flowers. Really, while there you feel like you are being hugged by Mother Earth. At night, the trees are lit with lights, giving it an alluring and romantic feel. For those reasons, I would put it up there as one of the more special dining experiences in Tucson. read more

Menu you see on yelp pics are not true so don't expect to know whats on the menu. We had 3 burgers to choose from and breakfast. Fries were awesome, not oily and crispy, my wife and i got the Bat Leg burgers (very good). Definitely will be back. Wait was kinda long and only one waitress and she didn't follow up with us. What a charming little spot located in a quiet location. If not for the Beer and Food sign I'd probably miss it. I took my wife here for her birthday around 8 on a Friday. Our wait was around 20 min but that felt like nothing since you can grab a drink at the bar and wonder around the grounds. They had live music so we hung out behind the back of the stage until they called my cell for the table. The environment as a whole was very nice with a large stage covered in twinkle lights, which my wife loved! We ate fried broccoli, chicken spring rolls, and a chimi. Fried broccoli was delicious and look out for that spicy red sauce! The spring rolls also had a spicy sauce along with a nice nutty type sauce. The chimi wasn't my favorite but the shredded meat was very good...I just don't eat rice in my burros. We had to try a couple drinks so we had the Tucson Sunset, Mescal old fashion, and the cosmo verde. The cosmo was my favorite for it's balanced spice. The mescal is very smoky and nice and the sunset wasn't terrible but too sweet for my taste, probably the OJ. The only knocks on the restaurant were the plastic patio chairs and the 1 bathroom. This is such a cool spot but the food is just not good anymore. There are a few salads that are decent but it's a shell of its former self. Tall Boys was amazing on 4th Ave but now to get to eat their food you have struggle to find a place to park by the museum and deal with way too many people and a no reservation policy. Classic Old Tucson... People out here just love preserving this area. This building itself is located on the site of El Presidio San Augustin a Fort dating back to 1775. Their are several different boutique style shops inside covered open air courtyard.A few that should be mentioned are Art House Centro plus La Zia. A native arts & crafts store selling Native American jewelry. Old Paint Records was another that caught my eye. With new and used vinyl records, t-shirts and vintage old magazines. Live music is played a few times a week in the evenings. Makes for a very chill kind of atmosphere. Great place to catch up with friends and or family. They do have a fairly large selection of local craft beers & several different margaritas. Which our group couldn't resist. Do enjoy. read more
