With the hype and excitement of Jolene's in Ewa Beach, I couldn't wait to try it. Yes, we got the Buttah Lobster Roll ($18 plus an additional $2 for the waffle fries). That wasn't my order because I can't have shellfish - my gout would definitely get triggered and I would severely be impacted. So no, this review will not be about that. If you want an opinion on it ask I will talk to you about the other two things that was ordered - Prime Rib Roll ($16 plus an additional $2 for Jack-in-the-Box -esque curly fries) and the Classic Buttah Burger ($10). I purposely did not look at their Yelp or Instagram because I really wanted to form my own opinion without it being colored by other reviews. I was hoping that the Prime Rib Roll would have thick cuts of prime rib - what I got was thin, almost dry, shaved prime rib, very reminiscent of a Philly Cheesesteak. Not a fan. Flavor was okay, dressed properly with mustard grains in a toasty and fluffy roll. The onions, however, was undercooked. For me, I probably will not be getting it again, especially at that price point. The Classic Buttah Burger was, for me, the only thing that saved the entire meal from being a complete bust. The double pattie burger was well seasoned and saucy-drippy enough to be a proper burger. The bun was good and had decent balance of flavors. Overall, I was underwhelmed by the food. It would not be a "go-to" place to eat for me. Between the price point and the food we got, it just didn't add up to an experience I want to repeat. But that's just my opinion, I'm not a food critic and by all means, I don't claim to be an "influencer" - I'm just keepin' it real and honest. read more

Found Jolene's in Ewa! It's such a cute venue! Seating is first come, first serve. Finally got the chance to try the lobster melt and it was perfect! Sooo delicious and stuffed with lobster! I'd recommend having the fries on the side. They got soggy pretty quickly. The tomato soup was not one of my favorites. The acidic level was way out of my comfort zone. Was so excited to see Jolene's on the west side and hoped that the quality of the food would match the original in town and other comments about the overall experience including the cleanliness of the facility as we are coming out of a pandemic. Came in around 2:30pm on Sunday and the door already had a "sold out" sign for the famous lobster butter roll. Come early to get your roll! The menu and venue is much smaller compared to the original restaurant but there was tables for outdoor seating. Cleanliness of restaurant needs to improve for average price point of a meal here. I did like that there was a sink available for you to wash your hands but they ran out of napkins to dry. They did leave a clorox wipe bottle for you to sanitize your own table if you dine in. They did not collect personal info for covid tracking if choosing to dine in. You grab everything on your own including any bottle water or canned or bottled drinks from mini fridges next to the ketchup packets and condiments. So the restaurant has no way to control who's hands are grabbing the bottles. Really no safety "clean" protocols considering covid. I thought that in general, this pandemic at least would push restaurants to have higher standards of cleanliness in general. At this location they don't automatically charge "tip" for dining in but you have to clean your own table here so maybe that's why...but where a meal can average $18 you would think that there would be higher standards of cleanliness. We ordered the lobster melt ($18) with tomato bisque ($1) combo. And the Big Boi Buttah burger ($14) and waffle fries. The burger had the same vegetable as the lobster roll and the big boi came with 3 hamburger patty. It was huge! I dipped the melt into the tomato bisque. It was good. As a stand alone soup- the tomato bisque was very salty with a kick of spice. I don't really know how I feel about it. I don't think I will order it again. The waffle fries came as a large portion but only 20% was really edible. The majority was over fried and burnt. Looked great but totally disappointed. I was happy with the lobster melt, but as a stand alone at ($18) was way too expensive - I would prefer the lobster roll at this price point. The second time eating at a Jolene's in general... I've wanted to try Jolene's forever, but their location by where I work closes at 4... And I get off work at 4. Sob. It was Wednesday around noon and I had just finished a dentists appointment. I hadn't had breakfast and realized, wait, I'm in Ewa. Isn't there a Jolene's in Ewa? And it was in the same area! Yaaaay!!! I step in and I'm immediately greeted by the girl at the register. Now, this girl. Oh my god, she was the SWEETEST, the absolute BEST service I've ever gotten in my LIFE. She asked how my day was, answered all of my questions, was happy to sub out things I didn't like, recommended things when I didn't know what to get, even convinced me to buy something I wasn't originally planning on buying haha, the works!! If anyone in charge ever reads these, GIVE THE GIRL WHO WORKED AROUND NOON ON MAY 31ST A RAISE!!! She was an ANGEL! So anyway, I got myself the lobster roll (of course) with fries and picked up a pastrami melt for my mom. I also got a slushie (I think strawberry lemonade?) which was really good. With the little jar of spicy scallop spread thing I bought, my whole order came out to be pretty pricey, but I figured it would be worth it. And when I got home, oh man, it sure was. Everything goes well together. The fresh toasted bun, crunchy, sweet and tangy coleslaw and the super fresh, tender and flavorful lobster! Wow!! The bbq brisket melt is another hit! Wow! I was really looking forward to trying this place, but I think it's honestly one of those places that probably gets hyped up way too much because the inside is cute. I will caveat all of that by saying I only went here once so far, and got the buttah lobster roll combo. It was way overpriced ($34 meal for one). The best thing about it was the bread, everything else was just meh. Maybe it was an off day, but nothing was all that flavorful (like I said, the bread had the most flavor and thats probably just all the butter). The li hing slush was pretty good, though. Service was good too. All in all, 4/10. I probably wont go back if given the choice. Way too overpriced. read more

Crap. I forgot to take pictures bc I was so hungry. I got the hubs the Big Boi Buttah Burgah which comes with 3 patties. And added a corn chowder for $1. Burger was delish and huge. For $1 it was enough corn chowder though it was also good didn't meet his standards as his moms corn chowder is his favorite... but still tasty nonetheless. I got. Pastrami Melt which was a daily special and basically a grilled cheese with thick cut pastrami on Texas type toast. Added curly fries for $2 which were suuuuper good! The pastrami melt was phenomenal too. Service was great and took about 15 min for fresh food. Poor internet connection in there though that is the shopping centers fault. We got the lobster roll, lobster fries, and the BS (brown sugar) cookie butter milk tea with no boba. Everything tasted really good, the lobster was really fresh and they were generous with it. The person who took our order was also really friendly and helpful. I really liked the aesthetic of the restaurant. They wrapped our food in a cute beige ribbon that felt really cute. Only downside: My sister got the adobo duck wings and it was not good. Barely any meat on it and had a weird smell. I would only recommend getting the lobster items. read more

Decided to go into the store instead of calling ahead. The line was out the door at 6 on a Sunday. They don't have the full menu like their other locations just yet. The workers were pretty busy but should've checked the condiment area. There were very little ketchup packets for people to take. No biggie, I'm sure if someone needed they could've asked. We ordered the lobster roll and classic burger both with waffle fries and a side order of curly fries. Also a melona slushie with condensed milk and boba. The worker said that the wait would be 25 minutes and we were given a buzzer. I did notice that since they were busy they weren't sanitizing the buzzers when taking them back or even before handing them out. So if that's an issue for you then just make sure you do what you gotta do. The buzzer alerted us that our food was ready and walked back in and to the right side of the counter we picked up our food. Once we got home and opened the boxes I was really surprised at how much curly fries were given for the side order and price. It was really good too! Everything looked good! The state of course was a paper straw for the boba drink which I can never get used to. My husband enjoyed the lobster roll. I got the classic burger. That comes with two patties and cheese... I opted for no veggies or sauce. I'm a burger lover and I didn't really care for the meat. The bun was superb. The cheese was great. I probably wouldn't get it again. Now I would understand why someone would pay for a grilled cheese there. My waffle fries were kind of hard and I preferred the curly fries (I still ate both) but, my husband and daughter liked the waffle fries. Overall it was good. Spent $45 bucks. If you want to kill time shopping at Ross then it would be ok to wait in line but, if not I'd say call and order ahead if you can. read more

Oh man, back again cuz the food is so damn good!!! This place just opened, so expect to wait in line. A. Long. Long. Line. Recommend you call in your order, and get your approx pickup time. When ready, just go in, "avoid the line", go to the right side of the counter and let them know you have a phone order. They'll take your payment, and you're good to go. My go to is the Lobster Roll. Lawwwwd it's so good! My mouth is just watering as I sit here waiting for my order (didn't call in this time around). It's a good size and they really stuff it! The bread is super soft too. What I liked about it was you can taste every element from the bread, the pickled veggies, and the lobster. Oh and don't forget to squeeze the lemon over it! The hubby got the burger (big boi-friggen huuuuge!) and he didn't even give me a chance to take a photo. I did have a bite though, and I gotta say, that was very good as well! Food is a bit pricey, but c'mon, you're paying for a gourmet "lobster" sandwich. It's expected. read more

Decided on the lobster roll, tomato bisque, buttah burger with waffle fries, KNFC fried chicken sandwich, brisket fried rice with egg, one creamy sauce (taste like mayonnaise and ketchup or what we call seafood dip in New Orleans), Li Hing mango slushie & got a big bag of suckling pig's skins for while we waited. This place helps me get over the loss of Teddy's. I regret nothing except only later noticing that there's ample outdoor seating on the left where I could have stayed and grazed a while longer. It gets busy so go early and be patient! We ordered a grilled cheese and a lobster roll, and added fries to each (cheap add on and turned out to be way too much!). Fair number of outdoor tables, too. I was really happy when I saw that Jolenes was in Ewa Beach. I don't often get to Chinatown so I had not had a chance to taste their food. I was envious every time I saw a post in Frolic Hawaii, Instagram or reviews that I came across in the paper. We ordered a regular lobster roll, the cheesy lobster sandwich and the brisket sandwich. We also ordered the curly and waffle fries and chowder. A little pricy but then I think everything is. It's just a sign of the times. Everything was delicious and very filling. So we'll worth the price. We'll be back again (and again) to try more items as well as ordering the lobster dishes again. Didn't have the lobster salad so guess I'll have to have it next time. My oldest son got a brisket melt, we got a lemonade and li-Hing mango slush with boba, and a cookie butter milk tea, oh and Birria tacos because how could I not?! The prices are high, total was $75 with tip. But let me tell you, these are Huge Sandwiches, easily could've shared it but who would want to? The lobster melt was so delicious, everything I had dreamed it would be! The cookie butter milk was so good, so sweet but not crazy sweet just enough. The Birria wontons, how, why, what?! These were amazing and the consommé made it even better. It had a bit of a kick to it. I ordered online and still ended up waiting. This place is popular! I have to say I was pretty excited to try their Birria melt and consommé but I was disappointed. Firstly, they tell you the wait is 15-20 mins AFTER you pay. But the wait was more like 35-40 mins. They are very busy with take out so even if you plan to sit at one of the tables inside or out, you should probably order ahead. My Birria melt was not Birria at all. I've made my own Birria at home and know that the meat is simmered for a long time and turns out soupy and soft, much like Kalua pig. This, was their pastrami melt with a side a consommé. Chunky pieces of spiced brisket. And after waiting 40 mins, you'd think the Melt would be melty. As you can see, it's not. $15! Sad. read more

The tomato bisque was a gelatinous blob with clumps of cornstarch or whatever thickener they used. Came here twice to the new location after having been to the location in town. In my opinion, food is better in town but if you have a craving for Jolenes lobster rolls, this location is just fine. They are always busy so going early is recommended. I recently tried their lobster salad which I really loved. It was fresh and had a great portion of lobster meat. I love their house dressing. Another favorite is their brown sugar boba. I am not sure if this location can add the sea salt whipped cream on top but if you can do it because it's delicious. read more

Ample parking available in the shopping center. The interior was welcoming. Rowena explained the menu in full detail. She was very friendly and welcoming! My husband and I shared the wonton sampler and we could not finish it. There were 3 different types of wontons: lobster, pork & brisket. They were all full and tasty but a tad heavy on the grease. I know they are fried but maybe they could be drained s bit better. My daughter had the brisket melt with waffle fries. The cheeses was Harvarti, Muenster and American. The brisket was extremely tender. The waffle fries were extra crispy and she was not able to eat all of her meal due to the ample portion. Asian fusion was how it was described. Lobster rolls are good. This Location is great near Safeway in Ewa beach. Close to home for us. I tried their other sandwiches like brisket sand... the meat is great ! but I think the sandwich would taste better on a hoagie roll or a lighter type of bread. Right now They use the thick sandwich bread, which takes away from the taste of the tender brisket. Store is clean n they have nice bags for the to go orders. A few months back I had the lobster roll. They didn't have any vegetables in the roll so it was skimpy and not very tasty. I was looking forward to trying this place so it was a huge disappointment. Know this up front: This isn't low calorie food and I've only had food from the Ewa Beach location. Now with that out of the way...THE FOOD IS AWESOME! I've tried several items but I have a "soft spot" for lobster so on my first order I ordered the "Buttah Lobster Roll" and it's SO delicious, great staff, clean restaurant, and worth EVERY PENNY. I looked at their menu online and every picture looked amazing! HERE'S THE POINT I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL I ORDERED...know commercials for food and it looks awesome but you get there and you're disappointed? Well my friends THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!!!
