Delicious pub style Korean food! Decided to try this restaurant based on the photos and I think it's now my favorite Pocha. The restaurant set up is a bit confusing since you enter through the front door into a empty dimly lit restaurant with K-pop blasting but the main seating is outside under a tent. We enjoyed everything we tried. Rice was fresh and well made. My favorites of the night were the sirloin pancake and budae chigae! Budae chigae: 9/10 broth was flavorful and well balanced without being overly spicy. It was slightly sweet, has a strong depth of flavor and a slight kick to it. I would 100% order this again! It definitely could've used more spam and pork as there were only a few pieces. It mostly consisted of sausage and kimchi. Sirloin pancake:9.5/10 this one was a surprise! Fried Thinly sliced sirloin served with fried leeks. The sirloin melts in your mouth. It was juicy, tender and fatty. The leeks were so satisfying. It reminded me of biting into a crispy French y fry with additional freshness and flavor from the leek. Pork belly skewers: 8/10 well marinaded and has a slight char. Goes perflectly with their rice! Service was okay. Our servers didn't really check on us but food arrived quickly and without issues. A table next to me spilled beer on the floor that splattered on me and the servers didn't seem to care and didn't clean it up so I moved seats myself. read more

Late-night calls for good Korean food with good company. We ordered ourselves a feast of Korean comfort food which came in pretty generous portions. Mille-Feuille Nabe: This was unfortunately quite bland on its own but when dipped in the sauce, it was delicious. To get a good bite, grab both the cabbage and the pork and dunk it in the dipping sauce. Spicy Chicken with Cheese: One of my favorite items of the night! The chicken was covered in a sweet, spicy sauce topped with a mountain load of cheese. Army Stew: My first one ever I think and while I'm not a huge instant noodle fan, I found the soup itself to be good. It's a warm, comforting meal. Pork Belly Skewers: I loved the marinade on this but the meat itself was pretty chewy. Sausage Rice Cake Skewers: My other favorite of the night. Joo Pocha knows how to do their marinades and sauces. The juicy sausage and chewy tteokbokki combo was perfect with the sauce. To drink, I tried the Raspberry Wine which I surprisingly liked. I'm not much of a wine drinker but this was slightly sweet and easy to drink. We also got a Highball Cocktail which was just okay and a bottle of Peach Soju to share with the table. This restaurant is an "if you know you know" type since it's pretty hidden. It's a new place that's worth checking out if you want to grab some late-night bites with some friends. There's only street parking so I recommend carpooling if you can. I didn't get to sit at the outside patio but I've heard that it's really nice, so if it's open I'd ask to sit there. read more

Joo pocha offers delicious food and a fun environment! It's located on 3rd street next to Tenraku-- they mainly use the outdoor seating in the parking lot right now. I honestly like sitting outdoor but their indoor seating isn't bad either. Recently I found a menu item I'm completely obsessed with; ggotsal jun (beef rib pancakes) with the side of their deep fried leeks. The "side" quickly became my main and I had to order another order of the deep fried leeks- you can only order another side order if you have already ordered the beef pancakes. The boodae jjigae (army soup) was very delicious, I honestly think you can't really go wrong with army soup because it has spam, sausage, bacon, ramen noodles, tofu and cheese...like WHAT ... hahaha Their kimchi soup is solid I can't resist the urge to order a bowl of rice with it. I wasn't a fan of their whole chicken but my little fur baby was! Another great thing about Joo pocha's outdoor seating, they allow doggos so your fur baby doesn't have to stay home while you're out hehe All of the staff are so friendly and they all have a sense of humor so you feel like you've known them forever! Located in Ktown, Joo Pocha is a great addition to the night life choices of Pocha's scattered throughout the city. Located on W 3rd Street and Hobart Blvd, Joo pocha offers a lot of different options of food/snacks/drinks. Entrance is around the corner on Hobart Blvd. There is a door on W 3rd St, but you cannot enter through this way. Was confused and couldnt find the entrance until someone pointed it out. Our party sat outside (under tents/heat lamps) and didnt have to wait at all before being seated. The place does get quite busy throughout the night but the service does not get hindered at all. Music isnt too loud which I appreciate since you dont have to shout to talk to your friends The menu has a lot of typical food options that you will see at any other pochas. Pricing is fair and not too expensive. Our table got: Fish cake soup: 9/10 Chicken/Pork/Sausage Skewers: 9/10 Nacho Cheese/Fries: 8/10 Fried Calamari: 10/10 -------- Drinks Yuzu Cocktail: 7/10 (pretty sweet not much alcohol to it) Lychee Cocktail: 8/10 All of this was roughly $160 split between 4 people. This place is awesome! They have heated lamps for the outside area and they have karaoke rooms. The service was great! They gave us seat cushions to sit on the benches and checked on us often. We ordered the army stew and it was so good especially with it being cold outside. One stew was more than enough for 3 people and had to take the leftovers home. The best part about this place is that they allow you to bring your dog. I called ahead to make sure and they told me all dogs were welcome big or small. When I arrived with my dog they gave her a water bowl and even a dog treat! Moments later I noticed others customers with their dogs too! I highly recommend this place for a drink or food to catch up or hang out with friends. I recommend calling ahead for karaoke rooms since they accept reservations. We got lucky and took the last room of the night. Their karaoke rooms since starts at $30 an hour for a small room and no minimum order. read more

Came here originally because I heard this place was dog friendly. This place more than exceeded my expectations! Not only were the staff super accommodating to my two pups, the service and food were so damn good. Ktown is honestly congested with so many bars and it's a point where food HAS to be top quality to survive. The food here was actually SO good! We got the chicken feet, fish cake soup, stir fried pork belly, pork feet, and a whole bunch of skewers. Everything was superb. Personally, I think it's getting harder and harder to find more authentic Korean foods as Korean food has become increasingly popular. This place does Korean bar food justice. The outdoor setting is perfect for groups (and obviously dogs). This place gives old school Korean bar vibes but with up-to-date food/drinks/specials. Kicker? There's karaoke inside for your second round. Probably my favorite bars in ktown, and I rarely post reviews and I don't say this lightly. 1000 stars out of 5! I literally came here with no expectations whatsoever. It was 12AM on a Sunday, we were just turned down from 2 other places that were about to close. My group and I were just settling for anything at this point. We are SO glad that we found this place!! I think we found our new spot in Koreatown. Upon walking in, we were nicely greeted at the door by the host and they were all high energy and welcoming us in with LITERAL open arms. At that point we all had high energy because we were so excited that a place was actually open for us to eat there. When we sat down, the waiters greeted us with smiles and asking us how we were doing. We gave them high energy and they honestly reciprocated the same exact energy!! We were so surprised, but also it was such a great first impression. We redeemed the Yelp Check In free sodas and they nicely gave us the free sodas all around, along with the beer that we ordered. When they came back, we saw 3 shot glasses with some party lights underneath and the waiter with soju in their hand. A bit confused at first because we didnt order Soju, they poured us up a shot for ALL OF US! Soju Service on the house!!??1 SAY LESS!! It was one of those moments where you just really had to be there. We even cheers'd with the other tables around us!! The envrionemt and atmosphere here just called for some high energy and party vibes. This place is just perfect for those after-club, late night, or even post-concert (in our case) experiences! Tips about this place: It's outdoors, so you'll see a building that says Joo Pocha lounge, but don't be tricked! It's actually AROUND the building, so look out for the side of the road that has a sign with the restaurant's name, and go towards that. You'll also see a small parking lot that'll say NO JOO POCHA PARKING. Go further inside that lot, and you'll see the sign that says Joo Pocha parking entrance. We were so confused finding this place. Anyway, my boyfriend and I wanted to eat somewhere after a concert and found this place that does outdoor dining and stays open late. We ordered the beef loin and vegetable hot pot, which came with a spicy numbing broth. The vegetables were napa cabbage, bok choy, wood ear mushrooms, another kind of mushroom, cilantro, tofu skin, glass noodles, fish balls, and of course, thin slices of beef. It was really satisfying, and although we ate the entirety of it as two people because we were so hungry, I could easily see it feeding 3-4. Word of caution: it wasn't that spicy to us, but it was pretty numbing, and you might bite into a peppercorn by accident. Make sure to get extra napkins for your nose! Service was fine; we didn't really need to flag a server down at any point. Overall, it's a nice place that captures outdoor cooking places in Korea, and the food is pretty satisfying for a cold day. Joo Pocha is fun because it's hidden. It feels like a IYKYK type of place that only Koreans know about. The bar food is fun, not the best but great for a group with no wait for dinner. Fried Chicken with Cheese (29.99) - for the price we were hoping for the whole chicken, but it was a lot smaller than we thought. Good flavor, but the novelty quickly wore off. The spice level was perfect, the melted cheese was salty. But it definitely photographs better than it tastes. Pork belly skewer (6.99) - we got two orders for 5 people and it was the right amount. Good flavor and texture. Seafood pancake (19.99) pretty standard and good size. But nothing special to note. Army stew (25.99) we all thought this was great. The broth had some sweetness that we liked. Probably one of the better stews surprisingly. I'd say Joo pocha is a great spot if you're craving army stew and pitcher of beer (24) with a few friends. I got the sirloin combo which comes with bottom sirloin, pork belly, pork neck, and mushrooms. It was a good portion for two people, and we had also ordered a steamed egg and corn cheese. The meat was all very high quality and cooked very well on the hot plate. My favorite was definitely the bottom sirloin! The service was very good and I appreciated how our waiter helped my friend and I cook the meat since we couldn't keep up with both eating and cooking. We finished off our dinner with an order of watermelon, which is served with some injeolmi seasoning. It felt refreshing and I didn't feel gross from overeating unlike ayce places.
