After this spot was rebuilt following the fire, I was so hoping for good quality Chinese food. It's got so many things going for it- a new look, friendly staff, and parking is always available. I got the dinner combo with Mongolian beef and fried rice, and the rest of the group got one of the veggie dishes, with fried rice and the veggie egg rolls. I was really disappointed in the fried rice- it had just a few flecks of egg and carrot(I think) in it. It was basically fried rice and soy sauce, with the resulting lack of flavor. The mongolian beef wasn't bad, but it was supposed to be spicy, which it certainly wasn't. There wasn't a single pepper in the whole dish. Even Mr. Chau's used to use lots of pepper. The good thing was everything ordered, even the egg rolls, were made as we waited, so it was all fresh. The portions are good sized, and the price isn't bad, so I guess it's all what one would expect. We will be back, I'm sure- the fish and chips sounds good, and some of the mushroom dishes looked great. read more

Joy Wok is under new ownership (Yen) and the food is AMAZING. She has the traditional Chinese items from original Joy Wok but has brought over her Vietnamese items, many from her other restaurant (Cam hung). She is a great chef, so friendly and warm. We love going to see Yen and love her food just as much. Definitely go and check it out even if you don't like Chinese food as the Vietnamese food menu is just as large now! We go here at least once a week and always try something new plus get our go-to favorites. read more

It's a very simple chinese place, not restaraunt, more or less like a panda express, but compare to a lot of similar looking places, food was good. Not excellent, but not bad. I wouldn't go there again, for that kind of quality there's always panda. read more

I love this place. I always get the #2 Sesame Chicken and it's super good . It's so good I crave it almost every day. Very friendly staff and quick service. Usually not too busy and they even hooked me up when they were closing once. Be careful entering/exiting because the parking lot/surrounding intersection is pretty nuts. read more

It's good fast food Chinese food. Im rating this based on Chinese fast food standards which are set in stone and have been in place ever since our fore fathers created orange chicken. If you're looking for the best Chinese dishes in nocal, likely not the place, for what it is I enjoy it, as I enjoy a nice dip in a public pool on a hot day after fighting an army of rabid squirrels in a spandex suit in park nearby. Good service, food is good overall, it's close by in Sunnyvale. They do tend to run low quickly in the evenings however, so may have to wait for them to make more. read more

I especially enjoy their eggplant tofu and spicy pepper fried fish. When I crave a Vietnamese sandwich I am always satisfied and stuffed - the bread is fresh, soft, and puffy so one bite is a mouthful. Friendly service from nice people! read more

Got 11C and was super satisfied. Not gonna lie, compared to their other location - this one missed some ingredients like peanuts, bean sprouts, and the pink meat. Not bad Chinese food. We usually order the Chopsuey (veggies in broth and cripsy noodles) and one order is very filling for both of us. We did decide to risk it last time and ordered Veggies in garlic sauce and repented. Not doing that again. I am guessing they had lots of zucchini in store wanting to be used because we saw zucchini in almost all dishes that were in the items used in make your own combo. In retrospect, that should have been our sign. Our Veggie garlic had 90% zucchini and some carrots. We saw it coming out of the kitchen to be packed and my husband immediately requested broccoli. They sent it back, good of them, and added it. But it lacked mushrooms or eggplants or any other notable veggies other than zucchini and carrots and broccoli. So, overall a decent place but will stick to our safe bet here next time. read more

For what it is, a small, shopping center restaurant without any real ambiance, Joy Wok is a really good place. My rating is based on these types of restaurants only. Don't mistake this as meaning I'm comparing it to an actual 5 star restaurant. I adjust my ratings this way with each of my reviews and I can see how that can be misleading. I rate places based within their categories. I live in the neighborhood and have eaten at Joy Wok many times and have probably had nearly everything on the menu by now. I can honestly say I've never had anything from there that I didn't enjoy. I've always been greeted in a very friendly manner too. The restaurant is clean and the tables are well stocked, but it lacks decor. Meaning, this isn't a place for date night. It's a simple arrangement of tables and chairs. The food is very good and reasonably priced. If you are in the area and just want to get some good food quick, and are in the mood for Chinese, I recommend giving Joy Wok a try. If you're in the mood for gourmet dining in a more formal environment, you may want to go elsewhere. As for me, I really like Joy Wok and will continue to go there. read more

I always go for the seafood options and its always delicious but i always like the white rice. I've seen some reviews comparing Joy Wok to Panda Express. I've compared the two and Joy Wok is soooo much better! Every time I've been to Joy Wok the food is prepared fresh. Grant it I have to wait a little while so they can cook it but it's definitely worth it. The portions are HUGE and the price is great! They offer more selection on vegetarian items than Panda Express and the food is much more flavorful. My go to items are Vegetable Chow Mein, Garlic Broccoli and Veggie Eggrolls. My little Chinese place has a new owner, the lady that I get my VIETNAMESE SANDWICHES FROM AND THEY ARE GREAT(AS LONG AS THEY HAVE FRESH BREAD THAT DAY, Ive had days on the weekend when the bread isn't today fresh and they don't stand up). SO, STOP. GET A VIETNAMESE Sandwich AND SOME Chinese FOOD AND BE HAPPY. So this is an interesting place, and I feel comparing it to Pandà Express does it a disservice. So I don't know about you but Panda ( and most of these hot table Chinese chains) remind me of pre-fab food. The items are all partially prepared, when needed dropped into the fryer, sauce added added and voila: your food. OK, but nothing special. Joy Wok is different. The whole crew seems to consist of the owner, his wife and a young prep guy. As with all new places I go to for the first time, I order a ton of food to get a real ideal of what they offer, and I sat around about an hour to watch how things are done. Like many Chinese take out they have already perpared hot trays of about 20 items. Tonight I ordered 2 item tray for $7.69: curried chicken and orange chicken. As I watched all items are wokked in small batches (from as far as I could tell fresh I ingredients) as need. The orange chicken was excellent, the curried chicken could have used a little more curry (to me) but some folks don't like curry as much as I do, it was fine. The included fried rice was better than most. To warn you if you order menu items be prepared to wait. Unlike most Chinese restaurants this place serves fish and chips too! Had to try so I ordered the 1 piece fish and chips for $4.75 a great deal! THE FISH WAS HUGE easily equal to 2 pieces at most places, the fries were plain but nicely crisp all for $4.75! BUT it also took 20+ minutes to get it (by the time I received my fish the Chinese food was gone, )remember there is just one guy making all this food... I also ordered fried bananas for desert, they took 10 minutes longer. Hot, fresh sevred with sprinkled granulated sugar, for me they could have been a little sweeter ( and I would have preferred powder sugar to the granulated. but once again I'm being picky. Add to this 2 diet cokes ( you have to save calories someplace) and a bag of almond cookies and you come up to $20.00 and change. Don't think of this as a chinese hot table place but a tiny restaurant, sit, eat, enjoy your food, I believe you will be pleased. Open 7 days a week until 9:30 (9:00?) PM. PS. You will get almost twice as much food (FOR THE SAME PRICE) if you order "TO GO" from they lady owner (;-). PS they do have take and go chinese if that is what you are looking for, no wait. Both the noodles and the two kinds of chicken I had had a strong chemical taste, possibly from the flavorings they used and the sweet and sour chicken was PINK!? Terrible service. Place was barely half full but we had to wait to be seated while the host sat at the desk ignoring us. The egg foo young had no egg in it and was over cooked. I ordered chow fun and was given chow mein. Server said "no chow fun on Mondays" when I told him it was the wrong dish, but never mentioned anything when I was ordering. I'm fond of this little Chinese fast food. This place has yet to disappoint me so I'm in between 3.5-4 stars review. I can go either way. It's no top-notch chinese food but I get what I want and how I want it from this place! When I need some late and last minute food for dinner, this place is my go-to place. Their WOR WONTON soup is very good and one of my favorites to order and I really love their "Pork Special" (which taste like Pork Adobo-yum!!). Try their sweet and sour pork too! The owners are very family-oriented and extremely friendly. Most of what I order is cooked fresh. I do think their salt and pepper Fish is a little bit on the salty side and same with the salt and pepper chicken...just so you know! But I love how it is fried fresh upon order (to go). if you have some fast Chinese food cravings and you live around the East side of Sunnyvale, this place is worth a visit. read more

Way below average. Tasteless food and restaurant is not clean. My chicken broccoli tasted burned. White rice was sticky and flavorless. All of the tables needed to be wiped off. Great customer service, not "above and beyond" but very accommodating. Ordered the orange chicken with chow mien, the noodles were perfectly cooked, not overdone or dry at all. The orange chicken was very flavorful, I didn't know it was orange chicken at first because it wasn't that glowing orange glazed chicken I'm used to seeing in most fast food places. I will definitely be returning here the next time I have a craving for Chinese food. Joy Wok is close to my office, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered lunch with one item: beef and broccoli, which came with chow mein. Beef and broccoli should be renamed to broccoli -- there were a grand total of three fragments of beef in it. All together, the three tiny bits didn't even make a single mouthful. And flavourless? It sure was. The chow mein was just spaghetti -- there were three tiny pieces of cabbage in it, and one single sliver of carrot. Again, no flavor. I had to use two packets of soy sauce just to taste anything. (Ironically, they only gave me one single packet, but luckily I had one in my car.) So I ended up paying $7.20 for spaghetti and broccoli. I'll never go back again. read more
