Food: 5 Service: 5 Ambiance: 4 After living in Poway for 25 years, I only discovered Joyee within the past two years, and honestly, I have no idea how I missed it for so long. Joyee is a legit, homey Chinese restaurant that delivers every single time. The service is friendly, no fuss, and very efficient, whether it's busy or slow. What really stands out is the food. It is always fresh, piping hot, and insanely delicious every time we visit. No matter when we come, the quality and consistency never change. Everything we've ordered has been amazing -- from the boiled fish and boiled beef to the walnut shrimp, salt and pepper fish, Mongolian beef, and the green beans with garlic, which is my absolute favorite. Every dish hits the spot. We've also ordered takeout many times for family gatherings, and the food always travels well and is just as good at home. We are always left super happy and super stuffed after every visit. If you're looking for a solid Chinese food spot in Poway, I cannot recommend Joyee enough. This is hands down my number one Chinese restaurant in Poway,

Came here after we went to another neighborhood favorite was closed. Wasn't sure what to expect but thought we'd give it a try and we were pleasantly surprised. Started with some appetizers, potstickers and popcorn chicken and I thoroughly enjoyed each dish. Having eaten popcorn chicken at other dumpling restaurants, the pieces are sometimes pretty small and get lost in all the breading. These were good. Potstickers tasted good as well. For our entrees, we ordered the Seafood Dumpling Soup and Walnut Shrimp. The walnut shrimp had the right amount of sauce and tasted good. We also shared a Beef Roll, which was good. Shopping center can get pretty busy on the weekend with other restaurants, retail, and gym but the parking lot is big enough to be able to find a good space. Inside of restaurant is pretty sparse, but plenty of seating.

Went in for a quick bite and left satisfied! The server was helpful and attentive. We only ordered two things, their potstickers and dumplings were so delicious! The filling inside was packed and flavorful! We got full with just these two so sadly we weren't able to try anything else but definitely bookmarked to come back!

Enjoyed lunch here. The cucumber cold appetizer was perfectly seasoned with salt and garlic and crisp. Still thinking about the cucumber appetizer. Boiled dumplings and eggplant dish were good. XLB soup dumpling was just okay and they were stuck together. Beef chow fun noodles were flavorful. Service was good and friendly. He was covering the entire restaurant and did a good job at lunch. Lunch time was moderately busy inside. It was clean and decent sized.

The place is nice and comfy, great service from the staff there, but most importantly, the food. The orange soda was nice, yes, it's from a bottle, but it's a fairly unique flavor I haven't had elsewhere. The mapo tofu though. Absolutely the most flavorful mapo tofu I've had ANYWHERE. This stuff was like 2 steps below a climax, but in my mouth and tongue. I couldn't stop eating it. I took it home to eat later, but unfortunately warming it up in the microwave kills a bit of the flavor; it was still very good though. But fresh at restaurant itself? My god. I would drive 5 hours to eat this. I would be on the toilet for 10 hours to eat this. I don't care. It's THAT good.

The best experiences in food may be in ordinary food places that can pull your heartstrings.

I've driven past this restaurant for over a year while visiting nearby shops, but I never paid it much attention until today. It was Memorial Day, and after doing some shopping, I was looking for a budget-friendly meal to satisfy a craving for rice or noodles. Because it was a holiday, they weren't running their usual lunch specials, but the server kindly directed me to the rice and noodle section of the menu. I pointed to the Braised Beef Noodle Soup picture, fully expecting a dry egg noodle dish with beef and vegetables based on the photo. I was open to trying anything, so I decided to go for it. I have to give a massive shout out to the server. He was the only one managing the front of the house and had the high-octane energy of someone who just had an espresso and a Monster energy drink back-to-back. He was incredibly quick, jumpy in a lively way, and practically running around the floor--bussing tables, running the register, and seating guests all on his own. While waiting, I used the restroom. I always consider the bathroom a good indicator of a restaurant's overall standard; it doesn't need to be pristine or meticulously organized, but it needs to be clean and odor-free. This place passed the test. When my food arrived, the energetic server placed it on my table with genuine pride and a smile, mentioning it was one of their most popular dishes. To my surprise, it wasn't a dry noodle dish at all--it was a rich soup. What started as an accidental order instantly became something deeply familiar and comforting. The very first sip of the broth flooded me with happy memories. It was so good that I told the server I'd definitely have to bring my dad next time, as he loves this style of food. The bill was incredibly affordable, even after leaving a well-deserved tip. The ambiance here isn't flashy or stimulating, but the food has the power to pull at your heartstrings and bring back fond memories. It's a great reminder that the best culinary experiences don't have to come from expensive, Michelin-starred chefs--sometimes they come from ordinary, unassuming spots that hit the perfect note. I will definitely be back.

Joyee's Dumpling House is a relaxed spot that works great for a casual meal with friends/family. The menu is large, with something for everyone. I went straight for the dumplings, of course--and I'm happy to report they did not disappoint. The beef dumplings were flavorful and well-seasoned. My favorite by far, though, were the soup dumplings--bursting with rich broth and so hot and comforting. I'd come back just for those. We also tried the green beans with garlic, which were super good and came in a surprisingly generous portion. Everything felt fresh and satisfying. The service was friendly and low-key, which matched the atmosphere. It's not flashy or trendy, but it's delicious and done well!

Always great food and service here. Check out these pictures. The cumin beef is not on the menu but they can make it for you. Truly delicious and a must try.

This authentic Chinese restaurant is bright, spacious and clean. Their menu has a great variety of options from dumplings to soup and entree dishes. The popular options we tasted were orange chicken, beef chow mein, and shrimp fried rice. We loved their orange chicken with boneless chicken breast meat. It was juicy and flavorful. The noodles were also very good. The service was a little slow when crowded but they are friendly and accommodating. If you stick with the main popular dishes, you will like this place.

The food was good! The dumpling wrappers were slightly on the thicker side, but still enjoyable. Both the noodle soup and fried noodles were excellent. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and kid-friendly.

Braised tofu with brown sauce (in front) popcorn chicken and walnut shrimp (in back)

We've been coming to this restaurant since it opened, and it is so good! Love the tofu and walnut shrimp. The shrimp has a nice citrus note to it. Also love the green beans. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. The servers are so kind. Super friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Very delicious and huge portion sizes! We ordered the vegetable tofu soup, fish dumplings, cold beef appetizer, mapo tofu, fried green beans, and zhajiang noodles. All the dishes were on point in terms of flavor (although the beef was a little too salty for me). Service was speedy too. We came here for on a weekday for dinner, so there was hardly anyone at all. Just us sitting in the corner, enjoying the air conditioning (very necessary for the spicy dishes).

The two ladies working when we were there were really nice and friendly. This place was busy with people coming in to order take out or dining in. It had a lot of good reviews but I thought the food was ok. I love Singapore noodles and theirs was too wet and a little on the plain side. We did like the onion pancake and the spicy wontons. Their hot'n'sour soup was good too. The xiao long bao was brought out in the steamer without a plate underneath. The dumplings were stuck to the paper or each other so when you lifted it out of the steamer, it ripped and leaked all the soup onto the table. What a disappointment. And the wrapping was too thick and doughy. I wouldn't recommend ordering those. The egg custard buns were not good either. We took a bite and it was gritty and powdery inside. It didn't have the consistency of a custard for the filling. We didn't finish it.

Pailin Thai is in a shopping center that absolutely gets bonkers during busy hours, mostly because of the obnoxiously skinny parking spaces and the incredibly large cars trying to cram their way into them. We ordered our lunchtime meal online, taking advantage of their lunch combo specials. I got the See-Eyew Noodles with chicken ($13.95) and my husband got the Spicy Noodles with pork ($13.95). Because these were the lunch combos, each meal also came with a small serving of the soup of the day, a small salad, an egg roll and a fried wonton. The menu said you're also supposed to get steamed rice, but we did not. I'd rank the items in my lunch combo this way: the soup (not sure what kind it was, but it was coconutty and citrusy and there wasn't enough of it, in my opinion); the fried wonton; the salad; the noodles; the egg roll. Not that I didn't enjoy the noodles, they were just not the best I've had (and those who know me know that Pad See Ew noodles are my go-to Thai entree.) These noodles were lighter - in color and flavor - than I prefer, and too sticky to easily shove in my face with a plastic fork. The flavor was okay, if a little lacking. My husband's meal was supposed to be spicy noodles, but the container was labeled "Drunken Noodles", which I'm pretty sure is a different dish. But, he ate it all up and said he enjoyed everything about it. Though he did say the serving size was smaller than expected (I reminded him it was a lunch combo, not a full entree, and for what we paid, it was a good deal. I think he agreed haha.) I'd be willing to give them another try, because I love Thai meals and we seem to be lacking in good Thai restaurants anymore.
