Good local spot for all the Buffalo bar food favorites and then some. Food is usually good and consistent. Lots of cocktail and bottled/ canned drink options, definitely an upscale bar offering and not a pub. There is a section of the menu which also has some healthy but delicious entrees. Lots of room with a huge indoor seating area, outdoor patio and tons of TV's in the bar to watch the big game. This time we sat on the patio, there was plenty of space between tables. We ordered the combo 1 and shepherds pie. Combo 1 was good and same as it always is, flavorful and cooked properly. The beef was tender and the Montana wings and sweet potato fries were crispy. The shepherds pie was ok, could have used more gravy. The staff was wearing masks and the service was good. I am taking off a star because there were young men waiting inside for a table at the hostess stand area, waiting for a table, masks off and drinking. Several waitresses walked by and didn't ask them to step outside or put their masks back on. During our dinner the same young men, in a group of 8-10, came outside on the patio area and smoked and vaped around other patrons. Again the staff didn't ask them to step to the parking lot, which is 5 steps off the patio, and let them crowd around guests who were eating at a table. My daughter took me to HP Fitzgerald's for lunch for Father's Day. Place is clean and we sat on patio to enjoy the weather with iced cold beverages. There cheese burger is really juicy and tasty and their toppings are fresh. Our waitress Gina was very nice and friendly and even had conversation with us. Wonderful pub menu. Delicious (and Hot) beer cheese soup with rye croutons! Yum! Corned beef Rueben sandwich, tender and tasty, and shrimp salad! Delightful! Salad was generous portion, took some home, chicken tenders were unbreaded, but buffalo style sauce I liked, served with fries and garnished with fresh cut celery & carrots. I had high hopes for this place. Not being from town, and looking through yelp for some good local eats, this was one of few with a good rating. It was a let down. There was an hour wait to dine in (Friday night, totally understandable) so we got to-go. I got the half fish fry with macaroni salad and potato salad and my significant other the same with fries. I was told 30 minutes for take out, checked in 20 and it was ready... but the fries were already cold and the salads had gotten warm. JP Fitzgerald's was stop #2 on the Wing King's tour -- JP's is a regular hang-out of all the Wing King's royal counsel and for that reason it was earned a reputation among the group; great beer, great company, great location and (just) good wings. But they say the great teams save their best performances for the biggest stage and on this night, the Irish came to play! We made quick work of our first 50 wings then doubled down on another order of 10 PLUS a round of burgers and sandwiches. Sauce: (4.5 / 5) Nearly perfect flavor on the medium wing, just a tad low on the spicy scale for our tastes. Montana sauce provided a perfect flavor combo with the medium. *Chef's kiss* Meat (4.5 / 5): "Delightful" was thrown around a few times. The only thing preventing a perfect score was the fact that a couple of the wings had some oddball shapes and lumps. Cook (5 / 5): Perfect juiciness. Sauce application could not have been better -- no under or over-sauced wings, which, spoiler alert for future posts, becomes a nagging problem for many popular bars down the road. JP Fitzgerald's is a popular Irish themed pub and restaurant, but the menu is much more than traditional Irish and pub food. That said, I still went with a Reuben, which was excellent. I like the fact that they offer options for small and large reubens and other sandwiches. My appetite is not as voracious as it once was and I appreciate being able to finish everything on my plate! My wife enjoyed her Pasta Primavera, but did note that it was a bit dry, could have used more olive oil. The building is very large, with several seating areas. In many cases this leads to service problems with wait staff serving multiple rooms, but we didn't really have this problem at JP Fitzgeralds. They seem to have enough staff and they were very welcoming. Prices are very fair. read more

Had to update my review because I've come here several times since my initial less-than-great experience and I didn't give them enough credit for their menu options. The menu is massive lol... They have a ton of options of similar menu items but with a different flare. For example, if you want a Reuben, you can get an open Reuben, closed Reuben, Reuben on different breads, or my personal favorite, the Reuben quesadilla. Whichever one you go with, you won't be dissappointed. They have perfected corn beef. The other menu item I would highly suggest is the waffle fries. Now, we all know that the waffle fry is the superior of all potatoes... So try them here because they are so crispy and crunchy and delicious! They have a fantastic large patio which has been setup to allow social distancing during the pandemic. Actually, they have done a lot of safety precautions, including setting up plexiglass between the booths. Had money left on gift card so decided to get take out chicken wings. Asked for all flats. Medium and saucy. Was told order would be ready at 3:30 pm. Got there a little early, the bar and barroom tables were full. The Masters tournament was featured on the TV screens. People were enjoying themselves. Patrons were steadily coming in for dining room seating with choice of table or booth. Anyway the wings came out precisely at 3:30 pm. Nicely packaged, the container was even put in a paper bag with handles. The wings were as ordered and perfect. Good sized, crisp, good sauce. They were fairly priced at $16.26 for a small order. This will be our new go to place for wings. A fish fry a couple weeks ago was tasty and fresh but it was cod, and I much prefer haddock. So I will not order the fish fry again. A great place for all ages. This is a large restaurant with different dining rooms and a separate bar area along with a outdoor back deck with a few tables. There is a long gradual ramp from the back parking lot for those who need it. The bar has complimentary popcorn and a few well positioned tvs. The restaurant was well staffed and service was quick. Our food tasted great. The fried chicken was moist with a crisp batter encrusting it. The roast beef was tender and thinly sliced and served on a fresh yet sturdy kummelweck roll. The French onion soup was ok; it had plenty of cheese but was a bit light on flavor. Overall I would recommend this place as it is easy to have a relaxing meal and carry on a conversation with your friends or family. The large parking lot is a bonus too. read more

I was visiting relatives in Buffalo last weekend, and wanted to try a "beef on weck" that I had heard so much about. My brother-in-law brought us to JP Fitzgerald's because he was graving their reuben. I had some type of Buffalo sampler that included wings, waffle fries and my beef on weck. The beef on weck lived up to the hype, and the waffle fries were fantastic. But the food paled in comparison to the service. Our server was a little ray of sunshine named Gina. She was so sweet and attentive. And she didn't flinch at the mess that my 2-year-old niece was making around her entire side of the table. I threw a few extra dollars on the table when we left (my brother-in-law is a cheap tipper) - but I just wanted to make sure she knew how great she was! read more

Don't spend a lot of time in Hamburg so it's nice to venture out to a new place to eat. I was surprised when we pulled into the parking lot and saw how crowded it was at lunchtime midweek. Luckily they have plenty of tables and there was no wait. I had a BLT with pepper bacon. The pepper gave it an extra little kick. The sandwich was good. My husband had the reuben which he really enjoyed. We both ordered iced tea. When the server brought it out she also brought an extra glass of ice. We were going to be in the Hamburg area and decided to stop somewhere for lunch. After doing a restaurant search on this app, we settled on JP Fitzgerald's. We are glad we did. We had never been here before so didn't know what to expect. Judging by the number of cars in the parking lot at lunchtime on a Tuesday, it's a very popular place. We walked in, greeted chearfully and immediately seated at a table. Originally we thought we would have to wait for a table but this place is huge. For Dr. Who fans you'll know what I mean when I say it's "bigger on the inside". The server immediately took our beverage order and served it within a couple of minutes. She then described the specials but by that time I already knew what I wanted. There are two things I can't pass up if they are on the menu. Not many places have both, French Onion Soup and a Reuben so without hesitation, I ordered both. The soup was a classic version with just the amount of onion flavor, not over salted and a thick slice of melted swiss cheese on top, overlapping the entire bowl. I have always used a restaurant's onion soup as an indicator of how the rest of the food will be, so I knew my Reuben was going to be good. After finishing the delicious soup, my Reuben was served. The server added an extra cup of house made Russian dressing which was a nice touch. The Reuben can be ordered either open faced or closed, I ordered the closed. They say on there menu that their Reuben is "The Best Reuben Sandwich in WNY". I can say it's the best I've had in the 27 years I've lived in WNY. You'll have to see for yourself but I think you won't be disappointed. We will be going back to try more menu items. read more

JPs is a great option for dining. They have a wide menu and different.. maybe services is the right word. You can go here if you are looking for a party atmosphere after mid-night. You can go here if you want a quick bite at the bar around 10pm. You can go here if you want a 3 course meal and you are looking to sit in the dining room. You can host an event in their banquet room. JPs does so much. Want to go to Ireland or take a cruise, do it with JPs. I'm not kidding!! They actually negotiate group rates on trips to Ireland and Cruises, I have never enjoyed that part, but how nice! Like they set it all up then you pay and go on this trip with all the other JP patrons. It's pretty cool. I had one of my bridal showers here and it was beautiful. They worked with us on every little thing, I had a slideshow with photos and they helped me hook up my computer using an HDMI cord, it was great! Also, big thing here, they are the ONLY business I can find in Hamburg that has the MLB package. I am a fan of an out of town baseball team and JPs is the only place I can find to watch the games. Normally, they will not have them on and we can just ask the bar tender if they will change one of the TVs to the game we want and they are happy to do so. The atmosphere here is great no matter what you are looking for. Oh I almost forgot! They have a JPs foundation and they do a lot in the community with that money. We had a party of 12, early afternoon, and only my sister that had the french onion soup was happy with the meal. I had the fish fry - my fries were old, cold & chewy, the mac salad was very warm, and my fish was mush. Around our table we all had the same issues. This place is always packed because it's just that good. They have an awesome bar that's very large with standing tables, seats at the bar, and tables in one room. Along with dart boards and a popcorn machine for snacking while you are drinking. The other 4 rooms I believe they have are all dining rooms which all are spread out to make everyone comfortable with clear plastic dividers for the booths. They also have an outside patio for the nicer days. But the menu is mostly themed around Irish food but they have the classic Buffalo dishes everyone loves like beef on weck and chicken wings just to name a couple. Very big menu plus a great kids menu that always is a huge success with the little ones!! Never been into an Irish restaurant for food but apparently this place was one of the very few places around that area that was open pass 9 PM on a Friday night. I think they serve food till 10. It has a very crowded bar and a quiet dining room. I also saw some popel were eating outside in a patio. I ordered gypsy Pete burger which is served on sourdough bread and I liked it. The bread was grilled and buttered which could make the burger greasy but overall I liked the taste and also the fries. My husband got the mother superior and that one was good too. Went with a party of 7. Dinners ranged from the Buffalo sampler, BOW, Slouvacki and open Ruebins. I also had French opinion soup which very good, had lots of cheese. The dinners were all good. The only downside came when the bill arrived. I should have checked more closely. Two of split the bill and the third did the tip (cash) Didn't realize the the tip was included in the bill, when she split the bill she included the tip. Our split tip was about $22 each and the third added $40 cash. The waitress quickly processed our cards and grabbed the 40, amounting to an $88 tip on a $200 total bill, equates to a 44% tip.. This was our first time here so of course we sat on the patio! Great selection of drinks and food to choose from. Inside it seemed very busy for being a Monday and a lot of people at the bar. The food was very good, my wife was in the mood for salmon and this was an interesting one - salmon over a bed of black quinoa, sweet potato, asparagus, and Romano cheese - it said pesto too but she didn't see any but it didn't matter she loved this dinner! The servers are polite and excellent. The menu has something for everyone. The food is always delicious!! We rarely have a problem but if/when we do it's fixed with a smile. Family went to JP's after the Bills Jets game and everything was super. We got seated right away and ordered. Within minutes our server brought our drinks and Karl a manager came over and asked us what games we would like on the TVs. Our order came shortly and we had a couple of Beef on Wecks burgers and some soup. Every thing was hot and great. For a post Bills game warm up-order the French onion soup because YUM. Cheese was perfectly melted, the bread wasn't majority of the cup, and the flavor was excellent. We ordered the pizza egg rolls and the Irish potato skins. Both were packed with flavor and perfect for a group of 6! For our meal we all ordered something different. When in Buffalo I needed to get the buff chicken wrap-it came with chips...even the mild was still on the spicy side but still tolerable! The stuffed shells were really tasty and although there were only three they were packed with ricotta and were quite large. Angelina was one of my favorite servers a long time ago, I haven't been here in a while so I'm not sure if she still works there or not. Holy Shillelagh, Irish food is known for Casual Pub Food like Shepherd's Pie and Corned Beef and all that, when we couldn't find our way to a Car we decided to stop here for a late afternoon bite. Deep in the Hamburg area is this Casual Eatery, we walked in and were sat at the Back, Nathan & Nicole both got Moscow Mules (hers was Strawberry while his was just Plain). Since it was around the fall time I got myself a glass of Pumpkin Ale that had that nice Cinnamon taste with every sip I took. Nathan got the Jumbo Pretzel Sticks with Beer Cheese Sauce to dip them in with a side of Fried Green Beans. Nicole enjoys her greens along with some Fish so she got Honey Smoked Salmon Salad with Spinach, Tomato, Orange Segments and Toasted Pita Points. While I got one of their Signature Sandwiches called the Monster McCree which contained a whopping pound of Corned Beef piled on which Swiss Cheese and Thousand Island Dressing all between 2 Slices of Housemade Rye Bread. I was extremely surprised to has finished it all with all the Meat that was between those Buns. We travel to Hamburg every December for Christmas and visit this restaurant numerous times during each visit. It's a favorite of ours! It's always packed and the menu is so diverse, yet no matter what you order, it's always delicious! We love the french onion soup, the Beef on Weck, Wings, Chicken Fingers, all of the salads, their bloody mary's and their beer selection. The service is always great. We also love the bar for cocktails and their complimentary popcorn. It's definitely a place for locals, but also makes us out-of-towners feel right at home! The patio is beautiful - tree covered with clean and welcoming hi-top or picnic tables available for seating. The best part is the space between the tables---there's plenty enough to not feel as though everyone's conversations can be heard. And the service and food was great too!
