    Creole Jambalaya

I love a good jambalaya Cajun or creole . This was really good but sooooooo spicy . Service was fast. It was hot and not dried out. The woman running it, was probably the owner. She did seem to happy to be there today but you never know what people are going through. She wasn't rude, just very neutral, not happy. I would definitely eat here again.

I tried the oysters and the crawfish pie. Both were delectable. The oysters were opened fresh by the most friendly and entertaining shucker. We sat at the oyster bar and felt comfortable even though the French Market was packed. The crawfish pie was good, but made better by being doused with Crystal hot sauce. I liked how they had real samples of the food, instead of photos to choose from.

The food is delicious! Just the right touch of New Orleans and Cajun style! Service was fast. Food was fresh. Atmosphere is enjoyable.

Located in the Shops at the Colonnade, they have food displayed on the counter so you can kind of see what you get. It all looks fried and like it's nothing special, but once we tasted some of it, we actually went up to order more. It's weird that the prices are not obvious/listed but it was pretty reasonably priced! The soft shell crab was $18 (after trying it, my husband got a second order of this--we also got a second order of the alligator bites). We sat at a counter across from the store front and our food order came up without much of a wait. The staff were all very friendly and fun too. We watched the bartender shuck some fresh oysters for someone sitting beside us. The alligator bites were exactly what I wanted and hoped for. This was the third location we ordered alligator at and it was easily the best! Nice big hunks of alligator meat--not just an overly breaded crumb--it was so delicious! Great location for people watching and located right beside Holy Crepe!

J's is located in a busy market place type area. Order from the stand, some dishes (such as oysters and boiled crawfish) are picked up from the bar directly across from the stand. Present your ticket so they know you're waiting for an order. The staff are very polite. Free for all tables or can sit at the bar. The BBQ shrimp is incredible, super buttery with a spicy kick. You'll soak the bread in the sauce and savor each bite. First time eating boiled crawfish and it was very good. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in NOLA.

Got their oyster creole, crawfish tails, and shrimp tacos. All the seafood was really fresh! Everything had delicious Cajun spices! The sauce they used made everything taste similar which I didn't love but overall a good meal.

It's located in French Quarters in the outdoor patio area where they have a counter and another oyster bar area where the oysters are freshly shucked. I didn't like the boiled crawfish with no flavoring on them. I need them drenched in cajun sauce or have my crack sauce to dip. The oysters were okay.

Get to this place early because a queue forms very quickly and there's a reason why. Reasonably priced, tasty seafood from oysters to crawfish. It's in the French market so don't order till you have found a seat (and those are hard to come by around lunch time). It's a free for all for tables. Only order once you've gotten a table as their platters are large and come out hot. We had the crawfish boil and the crab legs. 2lbs of the most delicious crawfish and crab legs. All for less than $50. We got to the French Market around 11am, got a table and were eating by 11.15. So it was more brunch than lunch! Walked around the market and then back to the French quarter by way of Cafe Du Monde by which time the morning crowds there had died down and we walked in and got a seat immediately!

Had the fried oysters for a quick bite and they were delicious. Js is in the French Market and I love that they have examples of all of their dishes out front so you can see what you're ordering. The staff were very nice, patient and helpful. I'd definitely go back and try their other items.

Service/wait: Came here on an early Monday afternoon. We ordered the crab claws, waited a little bit, and then they told us that they didn't have any crab claws so we got fried crawfish tails, so we ended up waiting around 20 mins for food. Service was okay. Food (2/5): We came here because we saw it in an "anti-tourist" youtube food vlog, but the place seemed like a tourist trap. The char-boiled oysters (3/$13) weren't that exciting and oysters didn't seem fresh, a little bit rubbery. They also came with stale bread. However, the fried crawfish tails ($14) had some pretty good seasoning, but a bit tiny. That was understandable, considering that September is not crawfish season.

    Atul S.

Best tasting food with very high prices. 2 shrimp tacos for $10 and other oyster dish on 4 bread was for $14. Prices are like dine-in restaurant but taste wise no complaints at all. They taste fresh and fusion of flavors. Loved the food here. Lady at counter was so sweet too. She even came back and checked on us. These tacos are by far best tasting shrimp tacos we ever had.

The food was really good!…read more Let's start with the highlights. The raw oysters were fantastic. We recommend the brightside if you like briny if not the Alabama were mild and the area 3 were all around good, so no matter what you like they have you covered. They probably rotate them so they may be different when you go. The shrimp toast was good but really the sweet chili dipping sauce was the star of the show for us. The Brabant potatoes were excellent. Nice and crispy on the outside and tender and fluffy on the inside. I could have had these for the meal and been just fine. The grilled tuna and okra was a standout. The best okra I have had I think. Lightly crispy with tomatoes and light sauce that was just fantastic. The were a few bad things though. We shared a bowl of gumbo and it was bland and the shrimp were tiny. It wasn't super expensive but the best gumbo is still my wife's. Lastly, my wife got the hangar steak. It was cooked perfectly and honestly one of the best we have ever had but it was described as having a salsa verde over the top. This is really the biggest faux pas. Salsa verde you think of tomatillo's, jalapeño, cilantro, garlic and lime. What they put on it was more of chimichurri which is parsley, vinegar, oil, garlic etc. We like salsa verde, not so much chimichurri. This definitely had some citrus and mint and maybe a hint of anise in a heavy oil. It was ok, but not all what we were expecting. We mentioned it to the manager and he said the chef was filipino which i am not sure why that would matter. He would know the difference between Mexico and South America which we thought was funny. We have been to the Philippines many times so it was a strange excuse. The kicker is both the waiter and he acknowledged it was more like chimichurri than salsa verde. Oh well. Not the worst thing in the world. If you like chimichurri you should get the steak it was really good. Our waiter was super cool and the restaurant is upscale casual that you see at so many places these days. All in all, it was a good experience and we will come back again. Update: we talked with a friend who is filipino and she said there is a filipino salsa verde that is different from Italian or Mexican versions. We had never had it or heard of it but she said it does have a heavy oil and is citrus forward. I bet this what the manager was talking about. So our mistake. Just thought I would make the correction.

Look no further, friend. Right off the bat, after arriving on a Friday around 4:45 PM we were seated promptly, given water and the tastiest little sweet yeast rolls ever (the tops actually crackled when you squish them you guys), and made our bevvie choices. Tonic with lime for me (I'm behaving rn) and an Old Fashioned for wifey. Killer. We skipped the appetizer course and ended up ordering off the specials menu for both meals. She got braised brisket with deviled egg potato salad (fantastic!) and I got grilled Amberjack with roasted Brussels, topped with pickled peppers, onion, capers, and a drizzle of olive oil and Crema. Did I mention this place has a rustic atmosphere, and cozy feel, AND a Michelin recco without a dress code required?!? We had Lemon Buttermilk Icebox pie for dessert... MY GODS. This pile of words I just typed doesn't do this place justice. Chef Link has got something special going here, and his butcher shop next door is totally groovy too. I can't rave enough about this place, and I wish it wasn't so dang far from Texas, but hey, it's just another in a list of damn fine reasons to come visit the fine folks of NoLa again.
