I was visiting my best friends and the one who lives in Indiana, she sure knows me. She brought me to Juniper on Main and I was immediately happy and comfortable that we were there! We had the pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes, and crab cakes. They were all tasty and I was very pleased to find fried green tomatoes out of season! The pimento cheese and crab cake were okay but needed a little pizzaz. I had the Forsyth salad and it was delicious, beautiful, and a fantastic flavor and texture combination. It took me a LONG time to decide on this over the fried chicken but I was very pleased with my choice. My friend had the burrre blanc chicken and said it was delicious as was the salmon our other friend enjoyed. We split the key lime stacker dessert and it was fresh, light, and delicious. My friend was bummed they were out of the chocolate burbon cake. I hope to be back soon because there are many things I would still like to try on this menu! Well done! read more

My family took me here for my birthday dinner. I didn't know what to expect, other than reading some of their reviews. The food was really good, the place was really clean and neat. It had a southern feel to it and felt very much like "Sunday Dinner" on a Wednesday. Perhaps the strong reviews set up a high bar, but I was underwhelmed. Definitely much to choose from on the menu and many which do harken to Southern cuisine, yet the flavors were just ok. I only tasted breading in the fried green tomatoes, and the corn bread was nothing special. Prices were also high for the serving sizes for the entrees (for example, 1 crab cake and 3 regular sized shrimp on the Southern Coastal Platter, which was $32). Those in our group who ordered sandwiches were happier with the price/food amount ratio, but also said flavors were just good and not unique. I went for a celebration late lunch/dinner with a group of friends. They were able to accommodate relatively large party no problem. The food was great and the drinks were definitely a must try. the only problem I would say I had was the drinks definitely took longer for them to come out, and often forgotten about with refills (water too). I was excited to try this place, others have raved about it. Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong dish. I had the chimichurri salmon with fries and asparagus. The fries are nothing special, they were hot. The salmon was dry and overcooked. The server recommended this dish, but didn't seem to even notice I didn't eat it. The others at the table got the hot honey chicken, and loved it. It was a bit of a laugh when someone asked for more of the hot honey sauce and was given a 1 ounce cup, which was no problem, but then charged $2 on the bill. Whatever. We ordered a bottle of rose, it was warm. Fried green tomatoes were ok, if I were to go back I would definitely order the caprese version, they just needed more flavor, and those looked better at the other tables. I'm slightly allergic to shrimp, so I wasn't eating too much of it. But it's packed with loads of flavor, I mean every bite was powerful. Peppers, sausages, grits, eggs, shrimp, so much flavor packed into a big dish. Dip everything with the sauce and you'll be mind blown. I LOVE the flavors. It's so rich and not too overpowering. - salmon w/ coconut rice? And a side of cheesy grits. My Boyfriend's mom had it and she said it tasted so good, one of the beat salmons she's had. She loved the flavors incorporated into her dish. Was packed with protein, and very filling for her. - buttermilk chicken strips, while this was very good, my chicken did fall apart every time. It wasn't crispy enough to my taste nor was it held together right. Nonetheless, the fries were so good. Overall, I highly recommend coming to juniper to eat their delicious food. Have been here a few times. Came with friends for devour and they didn't disappoint. I had smoked pork chop which waiter said was chefs fave. One of best chops I have ever eaten. Sides of mashed potatoes and green beans were the perfect compliment. Salmon is also one of my faves but not on devour menu. Dessert was large piece of chocolate cake. Rumor had it this establishment was a must. Saturday night at 8:30 later than usual we arrived to learn they closed at 9 pm. The team Welcomed us despite a later than Normal business hour. We enjoyed the food, kindness and great service. They offer indoor seating and outdoor seating and have nice heaters outside if you choose to milk the Indiana weather in late October. Deviled eggs flavor switch daily and really couldn't get what she said but they weren't bad. Cornbread was cold but still tasty! Macaroni and cheese taste like cornbread. Ordered a hot honey chicken sand which and only got chicken tenders that tasted like they were cooked in dirty grease. Greens? A little tough. The shrimp & grits were said to be good. The shrimp boil was just alright. Meatloaf wasn't bad. Drinks were ok. Customer service was eh ..... not horrible but not impressed. The server spilled our drink and kept talking before getting something to clean it up. Brought appetizers and no silverware. Things were quickly explained but everyone is really sweet though! Our first time at Juniper. Staff are super friendly and we could sat on patio quickly. There was some live music in neighbourhood playing. Enjoyed our drinks. A Savannah style menu can be expected. We ordered short ribs and salmon with chili lime twist. Short ribs were cooked well and grits was delicious. Salmon wasn't cooked enough and it wasn't seasoned at all. Not even salt and pepper. I just had the realization that I never set foot in the restaurant building because I spent the entire time on the deck. The outside dining was lovely. Nice tables, pretty flowers and the weather was perfect. The menu looked amazing. I had only a small appetite so all I had was the deviled egg flight. It was 5 halves of deviled eggs each flavored differently. I couldn't remember all the flavors but the chimichurri was excellent. There a spicy one that was also spectacular (I believe it was a spiced green tomato/apple chutney) The pineapple one was odd with the super sweet pineapple. It needed to be balanced better. If I'm back in that area again, I'd definitely go back especially if I could eat more!! Staff was attentive. My only really snarky comment will be on staff uniform. Their bottoms looked like they thought they were on a ZOOM call. I think a restaurant this nice warrants cleaner looking shorts on their employees. The cut off sweatpants or activewear didn't show the respect a good restaurant deserves. (But that is my biggest criticism.) read more

Pretty delicious spot despite how hot it was inside the building! Met up with a friend for dinner and had the most delightful waitress who was extremely patient and took time to answer all of our questions! The fried green tomatoes were delicious and the lemon aioli really paired well with them. The hot honey buttermilk chicken strips were very large and crispy. If you are a fan of southern dishes, this restaurant will satisfy you! We enjoyed a glass of wine with a delicious basket of sweet cornbread served with pimento spread and butter. The creamy Savannah Crab Stew was so very good. We also shared the house salad, which could have had a bit more toppings and a little less arugula. Our entree was the Savannah style shrimp and grits, with smoked sausage, peppers, onion, in a Coca Cola barbeque sauce. I would have preferred the shrimp tails peeled, but that's just me. Our server was Lauren, and the chef stopped by to ask about our meals. He told us about the Geechie heirloom grits and how they were made, which was interesting. The outdoor deck is very nice and we were fortunate to be seated right away on a Thursday night at 7:30. They don't take reservations, so you may want to avoid prime dinner time. An impromptu date night right before Fathers Day, as we found parking looped around the back of the establishment. 3 masked and pleasant hostesses greeted us and told us we had a 20 minute wait. We found 2 benches on the side and just enjoyed the busy Wednesday evening crowd. We did wait on a patio table and ordered right away. Our server recommended the fried green tomatoes and my husband and I really prefer eating seafood when we're out. Surprised only blackened catfish and salmon were the only 2 fish offered, we ordered. The meal was delicious! We wish there were condiments on the table (salt/pepper) sugar for tea, etc. Dates are rare and we held hands across the table, when the owner and his wife walked by, and called us lovebirds! My husband said it was a quiet evening without our children and they both laughed. It was very personal, and we appreciated it. This spot has everything I want in a restaurant: delicious food, friendly staff and a great patio. Bonus points for the inside of the restaurant having lots of natural light and cute decor. Unfortunately, we couldn't sit outside on my first visit because it was snowing in April (gotta love that unexpected spring weather!). I'm looking forward to checking the patio out on my next visit. My friend and I started with the brussel sprouts. They were warm and delicious and had a flavorful vinaigrette. The portion was big. Enough to split between 2-4 people. I had the Telfair Cobb Salad which came with grilled chicken, corn, bacon, blue cheese and a deviled egg on the side. I subbed the blue cheese dressing for their ranch. All dressings are made in house and the ranch was delicious. My friend also had a salad that she enjoyed. The portions were big and I was able to box up my leftovers and enjoy them as another meal. The menu has something for everyone and I look forward to trying a few things I had my eye on. They have a beer and wine menu that I didn't look at but plan to next time. I don't see where you can make reservations online but I saw a table with a "reserved" plate on it so you might be able to call and make reservations? Juniper on Main has been on our to-visit list for a while, so a certain evening when we were sans kids and knew a long wait wouldn't matter, we went over. As it happens, there was no wait for a table - the only hiccup, as it is these days, is finding a spot to park in Carmel downtown. We sat outside where the heaters and fire pits were running. We promptly received our waters and our server(Jack I think) stopped by pretty soon. He was just awesome from the get go, suggesting appetizers and delving into the details of how the few top ones are made! He dived into the same manner of description - almost waxing poetic over the entree dishes and I was amazed at his ability to rattle off details and be so enthusiastic about it. For appetizer we ordered the flight of deviled eggs and were quite intrigued by the various combos - however chimmichurri was my favorite. For entree, my husband ordered the fried chicken platter and I got the shrimp and grits bbq style. Well he wasnt kidding when he said the restaurant's grits are special...they had a real wholesome, not pasty at all, texture to it and if I could I would just eat the grits. The shrimps were sweet and fresh, the bbq sauce was a great balance...I was worried it would be too tangy. I cleaned off my plate. My husband enjoy his fried chicken and I tried it as well....the chicken were perfectly crunchy but the green beans - oh gosh so well roasted and the charred flavor was so good, that I could eat up just the green beans!! We had no space left for dessert. We are glad we could eat there and cannot wait to try their other dishes. read more

I have been eager to try Juniper on Main after my neighbors told me how much they like it. They are frequent customers - in fact they mentioned eating a great grits dish that I thought I'd like to try. I also read a very favorable review in Current. I have posted pictures of all the dishes my friend an I ordered and we both really enjoyed our choices. We went on a Friday lunch hour without reservations and had to wait only about 5 minutes for an inside table. Each table was occupied but at a good social distance. We asked to have everything served at the same time; and everything was delicious. Perhaps next time I would choose to sit outside because it was a bit noisy inside; although the decor is nicer inside. Parking is a little tricky; we parked across the street about a half block away. read more
