I visited Juniper after a year and I was impressed with the vegetarian/egg options on the menu. Wilde our server was so nice and the flight of deviled eggs was such a fun experience! My salad with salmon and a chunks of pineapple added a tangy flavor to my salad. The place is busy at noons and although so busy servers get a spot up for you in no time. Right near Carmel downtown, you can walk around and check out the Carmel library, a variety of stores to shop and some amazing coffee, ice cream and bakeries too close by. We met friends for dinner and libations at Juniper. It was our first visit and well deserving of the 5 star rating by many reviewers. We tried to make reservations indoors but they were full. You need to call a week in advance. We were able to get a table out on their patio, which was delightful. Our server found us a quiet table, which was perfect. We ordered a bottle of wine and craft beers from their menu. The prices and selection are good on the beverages. The food is Southern themed - Charleston and Savanna. The menu is diverse and it was hard to make a decision because everything looked good. Makenna, our server was 5 star fabulous. She was friendly, engaging, and attentive. The food came out quickly and Makenna kept our beverages full. We loved the Flight of Deviled Eggs. The eggs had different toppings and were interesting. I had the Low Country Boil, which reminded me of an East Coast vacation. There was lots of sausage, shrimp and potatoes cooked in Old Bay Seasoning. The cole slaw is sweet and creamy. The portions were generous and filling. The Hot Honey Friend Chicken had a delicious breading and the chicken was moist. The hot honey was delicious. The fries were good. Our friend had the Stout Braised Short Ribs, which were tasty, tender and moist. The cheesy grits were good and the okra was just ok. The Key Lime Cake is artfully prepared. The cake is light, moist and delicious. It is sharable, but you won't want to share it. There is some parking in the back but we found parking on the street. Everything was delicious! The deviled egg flight is a MUST. I asked for a couple with bacon & scallions and told them to be creative with the rest. The chimichurri one was a table favorite and the pulled pork one went just as quickly! The short rib was slightly fatty but seasoned perfectly and the smoky collards complemented them nicely. We visited Juniper on Main for a birthday dinner recently. When we first arrived they did not have our reservation down that I had called about over a week before the reservation. However, they found a place for us to be seated and enjoy a meal as a family. The service here was okay but not what you would expect from a southern style restaurant. Everything felt rushed even though there were multiple open tables all around. The inside is decorated very cute and the outdoor seating is very nice! My husband and I stopped in for our anniversary dinner during Devour. The menu looked good, but I also loved that there was a large patio seating area. We found convenient parking behind the restaurant and were seated fairly quickly when we arrived. Our server was great -- friendly, happy to provide good recommendations, and even offered to take our photo since it was a date night! The Devour menu included dessert and he put candles on our cakes too since we were celebrating. We enjoyed our hot pimento cheese dip app and, as our server suggested, the cheese was great on our fries too. Juniper on Main is an amazing restaurant, the food was fantastic and the staff were incredibly kind, even on what was clearly a very busy night. That's actually why I feel compelled to say something - during my visit, I saw an adult man berate a young hostess over the wait time. No one deserves to be spoken to that way, especially not a teenager doing their job in a high-pressure environment. Unfortunately, I've seen this kind of behavior more than once at restaurants, and it needs to stop. If you're frustrated, taking it out on staff is not ok. A little patience and basic respect go a long way. As someone who used to work as a hostess, I know how stressful those moments can be, and I really appreciated how gracefully the team at Juniper on Main handled everything. They deserve a lot of credit. Highly recommend this place, not just for the great food, but for the hardworking, kind staff who keep things running. Had a delicious lunch celebrating a birthday today. We split the fried green tomatoes appetizer, it was very good. I ordered the Fried Chicken platter and it was delicious. I loved the greens that came with it. Definitely enough for two meals. My daughter ordered the shrimp and grits and loved it. Joined some friends here for a girls night out! So this place is cute and cozy. My only dislike is that it is incredibly loud. We did go during Devour Indy, so they were pretty busy. In fact, the tried squeezing another table next to us but they ended up moving. It's difficult to carry a conversation with the person across from you. This might be the only acceptable time to text during dinner LOL. Aside from the noise level, everything else is awesome. The service is top tier. The food..chef's kiss. I tried the fried green tomatoes. They weren't bad. I also had the blackened catfish with okra and sweet potatoes. I loved how fresh the okra was. The catfish was so flavor. Service was terrible. Made the mistake of sitting outside and our waitress never checked on us. We had nothing to drink the entire time we had our food. It is 85 degrees.. I ordered the grilled salmon,.expecting big flavors and it was extremely bland and disappointing. My son ordered the jeckyl shrimp and scallops with grit cakes. The seafood was good but the grit cakes were oversized and tasteless. I told the waitress it was not a good experience and she just brought the bill ($130 for 3 people). The most memorable part of this lunch was the Spodee-O-Dee. Who would have guessed that chilled Cabernet, lemon-lime soda, a splash of orange soda, and some ice would be so delicious? Not me for sure! This was the perfect summer drink for any red wine lover. The food had good flavor, but nothing compared to what I've had down in the Carolinas and Georgia. The tacos and some sandwiches could be made gluten-free, while both shrimp & grits options are already gluten-free. Our biggest pet peeve was the lack of "simple" options on the adult menu. My teenage sister tried to order a grilled cheese from the kids' menu but was told it wasn't allowed since she was over 12y/o. We understood since the prices are significantly different, but there weren't any comparable adult meals. She told me that the plain BBQ chicken sandwich she ordered was alright but nothing special, and definitely not the grilled cheese she had wanted. Unfortunately, the Short Rib & Pimiento Grilled Cheese, Pimiento & Tomato Grilled Cheese, and Glenna's Granny Smith Grilled Cheese sandwiches were a bit more complicated than she was willing to try. Visiting in town , excited to try here, within first 5 minutes the waitress spilled an entire drink on my SIL, her white shirt and tan shorts were covered in a red wine cocktail. She was soaked, table, chairs, floor soaked because of the deluge of the beverage we had to switch tables. NO manager ever stopped by, AND at the end of the meal they gave my SIL a bill. Such a pleasant place to eat. It seems to stay pretty busy, so be prepared to wait a minute for a table. But both indoor and outdoor seating are pleasant. Especially the outdoor seating on warmer days! The food is good if a bit over-billed for what it is. The waitstaff seem to be largely made up of Carmel HS students and other younger folk who can be a bit iffy on getting everything just right. But they're also friendly and easy to talk to. I've been hesitant to try Juniper on Main since we once ordered it for takeout and didn't have a memorable experience. However, when we visited again recently, it was 11/10. The value for the amount of food we ate was unmatched and our server was friendly and had super helpful insights on menu items. He made it easy to identify what I could eat gluten-free and checked with the kitchen to be extra sure that everything would be okay. I also loved the quaint, house vibes of the restaurant. In the middle of eating my meal, I was like, "If Yelp allowed six stars, I'd give Juniper on Main six stars." And if it allowed eight stars? Well, then I guess I'd give it eight stars. All this to say that Juniper on Main deserves all the stars, according to me and based on an excellent meal I ate here recently. This restaurant has been on my radar since it opened, but what pushed me to visit was learning that they offer a meatloaf sandwich. I love meatloaf sandwiches! And I'm glad to learn that Juniper has a transcendent meatloaf sandwich. It not only tastes great -- beefy and tender and juicy like a good meatloaf sandwich should -- but it's presented open-faced and looks so pretty on the plate when it comes from the kitchen. All of their sandwiches come with a choice of fries or salad, and I recommend the salad because that's what I got and it paired really well with the sandwich. Meatloaf sandwiches can be heavy and sweet, so it's nice to eat something with them that is light and astringent. The salad is composed of spinach and other greens, tossed with a citrus vinaigrette. It's airy and bright and just perfect. They have a decent beer and wine list here, and I chose a glass of Malbec. The pour I got was generous (which is always appreciated), and the wine was great. You can sit outside on their airy deck which faces Main Street (they have outdoor heaters), or you can choose to sit indoors, which is cozy. I sat indoors, and it was nice and the service was quick and friendly. There aren't a lot of indoor tables, but I visited for an early dinner, so I was able to find a table right away. read more

So, I will not be returning, I am pretty sure that's what made me sick. The fries are plain and boring. They serve Hubbard and Cravens coffee, which is also just mid. Too much hype about this spot. Barely any parking. They sat us by the door on a 2 top with an empty restaurant at 11am and we were freezing cold. Not a great experience at all.
