Kabosu is my neighborhood sushi bar, and I couldn't be happier about it. While a little pricey, the quality is great, and the options are endless. Nigiri is typically what I go to sushi restaurants for, and the selection here does not disappoint. Kohada, Iwashi, and Kinmedai are just a few examples of what they have to offer. Service at Kabosu is always nice and friendly, however, be warned that this place almost always has a wait. Especially on weekends. This restaurant is very popular, and for good reason. As a result, sometimes it takes a while to get your food. That being said, the wait is worth it. I've only sat inside once (due to the pandemic), so I can't speak much to the ambiance, but the decor is nice and the feel is upscale. My favorite items on the menu are the Tai nigiri and Tako Wasabi nigiri. I'm not big on rolls, but they have plenty on the menu. Kabosu has a lot more to offer outside of sushi too. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. The food quality is elevated, and the menu has something for everyone. Bring some extra cash, because it can get expensive if you aren't careful. read more

If you're in Toluca lake and looking for a delicious meal, definitely stop by. Came here for din din with "my wife" (say in Borat voice) and was not disappointed. Started with some fire hot sake at an incredible price. Moved onto the baked crab roll, which was crispy but light. Then got some cold soba noodles and lemme tell you it was Devine. The broth is so refreshing. For the main course we got the seafood hot pot. Enough for two people and very fresh ingredients. Get it spicy if your skin tone can take it. Jk It ain't that bad. Service here is top tier. Very friendly. The ambiance is families and neighborhood locals. Definitely will be back. It'll be a go to from now on. read more

The food is amazingggggggg, the service wonderful, but the wait time not so amazing or wonderful..... if you want to eat fresh and delicious sushi then you have to wait. At the moment they are not taking reservations so first come first serve. Sometimes it takes two hours to get in or you just don't get in. ....... or you get lucky and be seated within 30 minutes. But let me tell you, it's all worth it. We always enjoy our meal here. The rolls are delicious, the sashimi fish melts in your mouth, the edamame is always hot and fresh and amazing. I started with the Clam Miso soup, it was good and had tons of clams (but it doesn't even compare to my favorite NYC place: Domodomo.) I got 1 sushi piece of the Waygu beef with truffle salt and fresh wasabi. Ummm wow it was delish, every ingredient was treated with respect here. Then the baby spicy tuna crispy rice cake roll. I've never had anything like this and it was amazing. The textures, flavors, freshness. The rice cake reminded me of a tater tot and the crunch was so necessary for the spicy tuna. It was definitely some spice to it, needed a break in between each piece but I'm a little bit of a wimp so you'll be fine! I also had a blue crab hand roll, which was good but definitely needed the soy sauce to add a little something to the bite. Overall, the quality was there and I highly recommend. read more

If you want to have the worst service you have ever experienced and also want to wait 2.5 hours for some edamame with a few rolls this is your place! I must have asked 5-6 times for them to refill my water only for them to get an attitude about it like me asking was something wrong. They messed up our order twice and both times I explained to the manager who said "okay, okay" but then did absolutely nothing. To top it all off it was freezing cold and both heaters they had kept shutting down. I told them it is probably the propane and they said we are out and walked away. At the end of dinner I called the manager over and explained how upsetting this entire dinner was for the entire party of 4. I even said not looking for a discount or anything I thought you should know. His response was not an apology, not a thanks for telling me...he gave me a blank stare and said okay maybe go somewhere else next time. When I tell you all of our jaws dropped to the table I could not believe it!! Get new managers or staff who know how to treat people spending $300+ on a bill. read more

This place used to be great. We were planning on eating at a different spot, but the wait time was so long so we decided to dine at Kabosu instead. We sat at around seven and didn't finish dining until 10 PM. We waited almost 1 hour for a couple sushi rolls to come out. When we asked where our food was, he kept apologizing saying they were extremely backed up, which was strange because the table next to us who came after us got their food way sooner. When my sister asked for more water the waitress said with an insane attitude, "anything else??? You need to order all at once." Come 2 days later, we're all suffering with severe stomach flu symptoms. The worst symptoms we've ever experienced. I was burping out sushi and ginger for 3 days, vomiting and diarrhea. Literally worst experience of my life. I'll never dine here again. read more

If there is a place that I would have sushi besides in Asia, that would be in California. Sushi here just taste different and unique, somehow better than if I was in Oklahoma or somewhere in the Midwest. To be honest we all know it's because we are by the ocean, however if we were to have sushi in New York or Florida, it's not as great. The food here is tremendous and delicious with the taste of ocean! Fresh fresh and did I say fresh! Worth the get, however do come early because it fills up fast in the evenings. read more

We love it here! One of my favorite sushi spots because of the quality and freshness of the fish! I love a good sushi spot that doesn't make me feel sick after and this is the best spot for it. The service is fast and very attentive which is a plus. My favorite thing on the menu is the Lime Roll, Albacore Sashimi with crispy onions and the Salmon sushi with shaved truffle on top! I've been a loyal patron here for years but tonight was very disappointed. This is a local spot for me that I've stopped at after work and taken many friends to over the past several years and have always had great quality sushi and friendly service. Firstly, we waited an hour for a table for 2. It was a Friday night and busy so the long wait could have been understandable but the table they sat us at was empty for 20 mins prior and a group of 5 that put their names down after us was seated first. Secondly, we ordered all food immediately after sitting down (I know the menu by heart since I've come so many times) and it took 40 mins for the first dish to arrive. We watched as people were sat and ate their entire meal and left before we received even our first dish. The waitress apologized for the long wait and thanked us for our patience but ultimately didn't offer any free item or comp anything from the final bill. While the food quality was great as always, I found this experience incredibly underwhelming and will likely be favoring other sushi places that have provided better service moving forward. read more

It was my first time here and I absolutely loved it. It is owned by the sushi place across Sushi Yuzu. The place is kind of small and was full when we got there at 9pm. We had reservations but had to wait for about 20 minutes to be seated. We ordered truffle edamame, salmon skin salad, and rolls - lemon, yuzu, lime, asian and baked salmon. Truffle edamame was so delicious! And yuzu roll was out of this world! Baked salmon roll was not what I expected and was just okay. Everything was fresh and tasty. I tried the 15 piece Omakase here today 8-10-21 in Kabosu and it was Underwhelming. You will need reservation if your a party more than 2 or can do walk in when they open. I went here during lunch hour. Seated on the corner table, which I wish they gave me an option to sit at the bar since I was the first person walk-in line. They provided miso soup and salad along with the omakase. And I should have left here once i tasted the miso soup. I feel my miso soup i make tasted better than what they offered. It taste like powdered miso soup and it not something cheap you pare with $98 omakase. Atleast use miso paste. Anyways i got the sushi pieces, and the biggest part of sushi is rice. The texture is mushi, like they used too much water on rice. I was so close to separating the fish and rice and eat it like that but that be rude. The Blue fin tuna is okay quality. Their toro is at most chu toro. It's very lean, wont melt in your mouth. The tuna is something you can get at Sushi by Jin and that's AYCE. The uni is also okay, its creamy, sweet, not much brine. The only good quality i feel out of the 15 pieces was the Salmon. The worse part of this is the blue crab roll. Like it was just Mayo. When i went to sushi dake last week and got a blue crab roll it has blue crabs in it. Not this rice mayo roll. Waitress was good and attentive. Especially it was her first day. She did forget one name of the sushi but its okay. She refilled my water 5+ times and the food came in good pacing. Overall, I should have learned my lesson when I had Yuzu last time. I don't remember the names of the dishes we ordered, but they were mostly on the spicy side, with jalapeños and spicy Mayo. We were seated right away and received great service. The food is very fresh out here. You can just tell the quality exceeds expectations. We ordered 2 hot sakes and a glass of plum wine as well which came quickly. The garlic edamame had a really nice savory flavor to it. The service slowed down towards the end of our dining but they were getting really busy so that was understandable.
