We came after a reception to kill some time, fill our tummies with small bites, and pregame before heading to the ceremony. I forgot what drinks we ordered but it was absolutely delicious lol But the foods we ordered were... Ceviche Clasico w/ Plantain chips 4.5/5 It was perfectly balanced. Fish was fresh and tender. Loved the different textures from crunchy corn nuts to the softness of the sweet potatoes and a tender chew from the halibut and the crispy plantains. It was fun, flavorful and had us craving for more. Karaage 4/5 Nicely seasoned but wished it was more tender and crispy. The sauce is exceptional. Shishito Peppers 4/5 Absolutely delicious. Loved the quinoa on it which gave it an interesting chewy tiny crunch texture. Tasty as well. Ambience 4/5 The decoration is nicely done. It's cool that we're on the rooftop and we should be able to get a nice scenic view but most of it was covered by the railing from where we sat. Some areas get a better view than others which I noticed. Our tables weren't as clean as I thought it would be considering the restaurant is mid to high end. There were a lot of stickiness on my side of the table. Staff 5/5 Super friendly, very detailed oriented and hospitable. Checked in regularly but not invading. Made sure to check in with the chef for any food related allergies that my partner mentioned and came back with alternatives. Very accommodating. Had great recommendations overall. Keep in mind prices are high for what they serve but you will have a good time. I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area to bar hop around.
Hmmm not sure about this place. 2.5/5 stars but I'm rounding up due to location and view. They have a good size menu with plenty of options but nothing wowed me. The shrimp ceviche came with whole shrimp which I wasn't used to. The plantain chips that should be included with the fish are an additional $8. I wouldn't say it was traditional Peruvian ceviche by any means. The veggie gyoza were okay, could use a little more flavor even when dipped in the soy sauce. The Drinks were mid as well. The View/rooftop is limited depending on where you sit in the restaurant but saves this place. I don't think it would be doing welll if it wasn't for the view and location next to the stadium. Overall, Kaiyo was Just an average dinning experience with nothing exceptional or worth noting. Staff was okay, food was just okay...
I enjoyed this spot more than I thought! I went here for brunch, and the food was really great. I got a fried chicken and waffle dish basically, it was good and a solid portion size. The drinks were really good, my special request requested a whiskey, sour and the bartender definitely knew what he was doing. Lots of bathrooms as well which I think is really nice.
I had an extremely disheartening and uncomfortable experience at Kaiyo SF at approximately 8:00 p.m. on September 19 involving a hostess named May. Upon exiting the elevator, my friend went to check whether there were any available seats at the bar, as we understood the bar to have open seating. May immediately approached him and asked, "Can I help you?" and then followed him as he looked toward the bar. When he explained that he was checking for open bar seating and had been there before, May initially told him that he needed a reservation. After he pointed out that the bar was open seating, she responded along the lines of, "Okay, I guess if you can find a seat." What made the interaction especially uncomfortable was the way May looked my friend up and down and the manner in which she followed him. From my perspective, it felt like he was being singled out and profiled rather than simply being treated as a guest looking for an available bar seat. While my friend checked the bar, I remained at the hostess station. May then told me that we needed a reservation and that there were absolutely no reservations available. I checked the reservation app myself and immediately found two available reservations for 9:15 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. I showed May my phone and pointed this out. She looked me up and down, smirked, and told me, "Well, you can book those if you want to." I then asked if she could book one of the available reservations for me. Rather than assisting, she told me no, that she could not book it for me, and that I needed to book it myself and enter a credit card. I stepped back into the waiting area and began trying to secure the 9:15 reservation myself. At the same time, another large party appeared to be having its own disagreement regarding reservations, and the entire entrance area became increasingly chaotic. While I was still clearly attempting to make a reservation, another staff member held the elevator door open and told us that the elevator was open for us to exit. I had to explain that I was not trying to leave--I was standing there trying to make the reservation I had just been told to book myself. I later approached May and politely asked for her name and position. She responded "May" and confirmed that she was a hostess, but her demeanor remained dismissive and unnecessarily rude. At that point, the situation had become so uncomfortable and unprofessional that I decided we should leave. What happened next was particularly disturbing. My friend had been away from the interaction between May and me and was completely unaware of what had transpired. Yet as he was leaving, This entire interaction was happening while we were entering the elevator to exit and inside may decides to approach both while the doors were opened May specifically addressed him sarcastically and told him that if he wanted to speak with her manager, the manager was downstairs and he could speak with them directly with a smirk. Why was she directing that comment toward him when he had not asked for a manager and had not been involved in my conversation with her? I finally told May that I found her behavior extremely rude. Her response was a sarcastic, dismissive "Oh. Okay. Okay. Okay," accompanied by head shaking and an attitude that only reinforced how unwelcome we had been made to feel. The most troubling part of this experience was the apparent difference in how we were treated compared with other guests. We observed other people in the area who did not appear to have reservations and were not approached or treated the way my friend was. Given the way he was followed, looked up and down, questioned about being there, and later singled out again as we were leaving, I left genuinely concerned that racial profiling played a role in how we were treated. I do not make an allegation like that lightly. Regardless of the reason, the treatment we received was unacceptable. Hospitality staff should make guests feel welcome, explain policies consistently, and offer assistance when possible--not make guests feel scrutinized, dismissed, or pushed toward an elevator while they are actively trying to comply with the restaurant's reservation requirements. This was an extremely disappointing experience, and management should seriously review what occurred and how guests are being treated at the host stand.
This place has a great ambiance and equally great food! The service is great, staff is friendly. The ceviche is amazing. I've been a couple of times and often for their non alcoholic passion fruit drink and requested tequila in it, so good!
Kaiyo is worth adding to your San Francisco list! It is a hidden gem rooftop bar/restaurant. The rooftop views are incredible, especially at sunset, and it's the perfect spot for photos and selfies! I visited during the winter, and their seasonal hot toddy was the perfect drink for the chilly weather. We also tried two different types of oysters (the creamy/milky was my favorite), sushi, and the Wagyu sliders - which were hands down the best thing we ordered. If they're still on the menu, definitely give them a try! There was plenty of seating, we were seated quickly, and the overall atmosphere was amazing. Whether you're going for drinks, food, or just the views, Kaiyo is a spot I'd definitely recommend!
The rooftop was beautiful! Loved the view of the skyline and overall great environment. I personally didn't like the mango mambo but it was still a good cocktail, the spiciness in the drink due to the jalapeños just wasn't my thing (always got try something new though right?). The poko cocktail however was lovely! I honestly think the Lima roll might have been the best sushi roll I've ever had too and I wish I had access to it closer to home. It was a very busy night for staff due to it being graduation weekend, a Friday night, and they had a private party but they still made sure we were well taken care of.
Came here with a couple friends on a Tuesday windy night before a dinner reservation later that evening. Took an elevator up to thw rooftop. There was bar, indoor and outside seating. Decided to sit outside with a view facing the city. It was really windy, our server asked if wanted blankets which we said yes to. There was also a heartedly above us where we were sitting. The drinks had interesting names. I got a coffee flavored one since I like an espresso martini. I think i prefer an espresso martini than the drink I tried. Maybe its the alcohol that was used in the cocktail that wasn't doing it for me and that I'm not used to. A friend ordered chicken karaage which was fine, a couple pieces were little salty, but had a decent crunch. Service was mid. Period.
Our waiter Alejandro was great, helpful, friendly and quick. Love the views and the rooftop setting but it was cold and windy the day we went - recommend going in the summer. The food was tasty but the portions were small in comparison to the price. But hey, that's SF for you. I could skip the beef empanadas next time. It tasted fine but nothing epic about it. I think I have a slight addiction to their plantain chips- they're thin and light and tasty with the cevice or guac - edamame dip. Yummy The drinks were pretty good too! I wouldn't mind coming back to celebrate or experience the rooftop again with friends. But I likely wouldn't come back for a monthly or weekly dinner date.
2/5 Stars My husband and I chose Kaiyo Rooftop to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary. We had reservations and were seated quickly after arriving. The host at the elevator was friendly and welcoming, and we appreciated how smoothly we were seated. Unfortunately, the rest of our experience was disappointing. We were seated in the far corner of the rooftop with virtually no view, which was the main reason we chose this restaurant in the first place. Our table was uneven and wobbly, and the tabletop itself was covered in a sticky, tacky film--possibly from a recently applied finish. It was uncomfortable enough that I placed a napkin over the table. My water glass also appeared cloudy, with a noticeable white residue. We ordered our first round of drinks, which were good. However, when our server returned, he asked if we planned to order food. We told him we were just going to enjoy drinks, and instead of asking if we'd like another round, he simply walked away. It left us feeling like we were no longer worth serving because we weren't ordering dinner. We decided to pay for our drinks and leave to eat somewhere else. I'm giving two stars: one for the drinks, which were enjoyable, and another for the friendly host and the second server who later checked on us and promptly brought our check. We dine out often, and unfortunately, this is one restaurant we won't be returning to.
Nice rooftop for a date night! However the food is below average tasting. My friends and I came here Thursday night and it was a bit more than halfway booked with just a few tables open. We all got 3 things to share and only 1/3 was good. 1. Kaarage Pollo -- This is one of their petite bites. It's Japanese fried chicken but oh my when I took bites of it I was disappointed. It was too salty and the sauce they pair with it didn't help. I would not get this again... 2. Lima roll -- This roll was good for how simple it is! I recommend it! 3. Kaiyo roll -- This roll was just alright for me. I feel ehh about it. It's a 6.3/10. Try at your own will. It's really pretty at night! I love the vibes of the place and how they have a screen lit up of the beach. I was worried about it being cold but they have heaters running and glass walls. Also the music they play here is bomb. They be being bad bunny and Karol G! I'd come back here to try their drinks but I didn't have the best experience with most of the food. However the workers here are so nice!
tldr: delish food! def pricey and had some bumps in our experience but i'd go back for a cute rooftop moment. ordered: lima roll, corn ribs, and yucca fries. my friend also got the chicha morada highlights: honestly all of the food was great. it was just two of us and it was the perfect amount. i really liek the roll (the initial taste was peruvian which was such a fun twist). also the ribs we so juicy and flavorful. ambience: the lighting and vibes are gorgeous. only thing that was annoying was that where we were sitting had two loose tiles so anytime people walked by us our whole table would shake. it also did get chilly so don't forget a jacket! other notes: we got a reservation for monday at 6 (pretty easy and only booked about 3 days in advance). the entrance is kind of hidden. It's up a little ramp on the side and the security will send you up the elevator (don't forget your ID).
The views are beautiful, truly the highlight of the experience. The very best! Customer service was responsive and solid as well. The food and cocktails, however, didn't quite match the setting. My hot toddy and the Kaiyo roll both looked great but tasted fairly bland. I sampled a bit of every dish, and my girlfriends and I all agreed the food was on the bland side. It's a cute spot for a group hangout or a romantic date, especially for the atmosphere. Very unique interior and space. I'd must go in with adjusted expectations when it comes to the food and drinks.
We stopped by via reservation around 5pm last Friday, and the experience was pretty good! It was pretty empty once we got up, which was a little surprising. Then again, it was kinda early in the night. It picked up a little by the time we left around 7:00. Overall vibe and ambiance was good. Upbeat music in the back, beautiful views of the city, a nice bar, and plenty of seating throughout the rooftop. Service was great, all employees of the establishment were kind and helpful. I'd say the ambiance/vibe/service are all strong points at Kaiyo Rooftop. The best way I can describe the food is "good/decent". We ordered many things - beef empanadas, Japanese crispy shrimp, fries, a lomo saltado roll, and a spicy tuna roll. The beef empanadas and Japanese crispy shrimp were both good, but needed something to elevate the dish. Both fell slightly flat? The fries were delicious! The spicy tuna roll was fresh, no complaints. Finally, the lomo saltado roll was interesting - it was our first time having an angus sushi roll. Cool to try, but wouldn't order over another fish roll again. The drinks were yummy, but very sweet! All around, fun experience but I'd definitely look to try other similar establishments in the city before circling back around. read more
If you want some great Japanese & Peruvian food, I can't recommend this place enough!! Also it has amazing views of San Francisco! My boyfriend and I went here after a Giants game and we also had reservations prior. It's definitely in the pricier side but oh my gosh everything was amazing! We ordered the pork bao buns, lima roll, ceviche roll, and kaiyo roll. It was all the perfect amount of food and all flavorful! As for drinks, I got espresso martini and loved it. It's definitely a go to drink of mine and it did not disappoint. It does get pretty chilly so I recommend bringing a jacket in case! Overall, our server was very attentive and definitely a nice place to eat out with friends or to bring your date to! read more

Pretty rooftop restaurant/bar. Our kind hostess found a table for us despite it being packed. Since it was so busy, the food took a bit longer than expected. Make sure to make a rez! The oysters were delicious (two types) and packed with flavor. The nikkei wings + kaiyo roll were alright. read more
Food was good, lima roll was my favorite over the rainbow roll. Cevichi was also super yummy and a good portion for two people to share. Empanadas were delicious. Cock tails were very well made and very aesthetically pleasing. The roof top is a great vibe for hanging out for drinks or for a date night. The heaters they had on were also great when it got cold. Excellent Rooftop in the city:) Great views of Downtown and Bay Bridge! Staff was friendly and accommodating enough to seat us outside (no seats inside) and turn the heaters on, despite them closing it temporarily due to rain. Best to reserve ahead of time to get a good table. They seemed to have good food options, while we only ordered drinks. Best rooftop I have been to in San Francisco! read more

LOVE rooftops in the city like these, I loved the view from up here! The seating area is so perfect for a GNO to catch up with some friends. This place is on point with their decoration, ambience, and aesthetic feel. I appreciated the decorative drinks, LED lights, and holiday decor they had every time I've visited. I would suggest coming here on a warm sunny day in the city since it can get cold or windy. Drinks came out fast and bartender was friendly! Food was yummy, I tried a few sushi rolls and they were freshly made. Def would recommend this place to get a scenic view of the city and enjoy good company! read more

Stunning views from the rooftop bar offering Japanese Peruvian dishes. For food, recommend Ceviche Roll (crispy rice, yam filling, hamachi on top with aioli sauce) and beef tataki (zesty, light, delicious!) Drinks are so fun - they are known for their Pisco sours, & I loved my Japanese beer (Wednesday Cat white ale). Definitely make a reservation - it'll get busy during game nights. Service can be slow during busy hours, but food and views are worth! read more
Food was okay probably 3 stars (feeling a bit expensive for what it is was..but hey that's sf now a days) but adding a star for the ambiance/rooftop views and festive holiday decorations. We were trying to decide what to eat for girl dinner and decided to check out Kaiyo because we had heard some buzz around the rooftop views. Located on the 12th floor of Hyatt Place Hotel, you check in with the door person who will confirm if you have a reservation (we didn't) and then they will walk you to the elevator. AMBIANCE: Nice We visited right before the holidays so the bar was decorated with all sorts of holiday cheer and they were also serving hot cocoa looking drinks in festive mugs so it added to the fun ambiance. My friend said a few weeks before even without the holiday decorations, its still had a fun vibe. The views were nice -- similar to if you have an high-rise office in FiDi or a friend who lives in SOMA. I loved that there were portions that were enclosed and had heaters so even though it was "outside" it didn't feel like your typical SF night. It also looked like there were some spots that were good for larger groups which is harder to come by in the city. FOOD: So-so We ordered the karaage (okay) and ceviche trio/sampler with 3 ceviches and what seemed like cornnuts (meh) to share and got drinks (also okay) and at the end end of the night it was not quite $100 and we were still a little hungry. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. All and all -- i wouldn't come specifically for the food but this is a great spot for dates, catching up, group outings. The ambiance, view, and food were amazing. I got a salmon avocado roll and the Lima roll which were both good, would definitely recommend the Lima roll. My friend got the crispy yucca that comes with the queso dip which was very good too. A bug flew into my rose and the waitress brought me a new one without hesitation so that was very sweet and I appreciated that a lot. However, the service was pretty slow in terms of waiting for our drinks (our food got there before our drinks) and asking for things such as water rather than the waitress coming to us. First of all, if you're considering coming here for Christmas: do it. The decor was perfect and the staff really went above and beyond with it. If you're planning on coming otherwise: definitely come. It's situated in a spot where you can perfectly see the bridge and the buildings (especially if you snag one of the large group tables). The rolls are standard San Francisco fare. They're fun and innovative but not the star of the show. The thing to try here is definitely the tiradito, which is basically Peruvian ceviche. That was the highlight for me due to the freshness of the scallops and unique flavors. Even if you're not too hungry, try the tiradito as a snack. The drinks were a bit too sweet for my taste (why do I insist on trying things other than an old fashioned?), but the bartenders are really helpful if you ask them for their opinion on a good drink for you! I ended up really liking my Christmas drink the papa Noel, which was a tad sweet but overall a really lovely boozy hot cocoa. read more

Came here on a random Tuesday evening but it was game day so the place was packed. Thankfully we had a reservation. Views are fantastic and despite being a late September day, it wasn't too cold up there but I did dress accordingly. Didn't have anything but water to drink. To eat, my friend and I shared the shrimp, shishito peppers, the fries and the ribs. My favorite was actually the corn that came with the ribs which they do sell separately. Wanted to love this place but the food didn't live up to my expectations unfortunately. The reviews here looked so amazing so I made a dinner reservation for a group of friends to celebrate a joint birthday for my friend and I. We were seated outdoors on the rooftop bar, but they have glass panels up so it's really hard to see any sort of view at night. It was basically just dark. So if you're trying to come here for pictures or any sort of view, definitely come when it's still light out! This place is really great at accommodating large groups which was super nice. Other than the lack of view, the ambiance is good, but not exactly what I expected. It's less upscale than the pictures make it look and the vibe is very casual. Service here was fine -- friendly and polite workers, although they were hard to track down sometimes to order food because the place gets super busy. The drinks here are on the sweeter side. They have pitchers which is great to order for a big table and share! Would recommend the space adventure cobra. The food was the most disappointing part sadly. I think out of everything we ordered, the only thing that stood out in a good way was the Kaiyo roll. Everything else was just ok. We got yucca fries, the lima roll, karaage pollo, and the avocado edamame dip. The avocado edamame dip is not bad -- it has a unique flavor, and also comes with interesting chips. However I wouldn't come here expecting a really filling meal; it's mostly bar and finger/snack food vibes. read more

Came here with friends for dinner. The portions are small so shareable items and family style is recommended. Expect it to be pricy. We ordered the rice with duck (it was bit salty for our taste) and the matcha pasta (it was alright). Our favorite was the sushi roll! The service was spectacular. I called to cancel our 9 pm reservation for two after seeing a potential $30 per person fee on OpenTable, which the host confirmed. Luckily, we were able to adjust our reservation to 10 pm without the charge. Upon arrival, we found a few open tables and scored parking right across the street--a rare Friday night win! The music was lively, though the tables felt a bit high. Our order of salmon ceviche arrived without the chips, which would've added that perfect crunch. Thankfully, we spotted the charge before paying--always double-check your receipt! We also ordered the Kaiyo, Lima, and Lomo rolls. The Lomo's meat could have been a touch less cooked, while the Kaiyo was a surprisingly delicious twist on the classic CA roll. The Lima roll was tasty, but a hint more zest would've been ideal. Vibe 3/5 - Felt like half club half restaurant. A YouTube waterfall video was playing on loop on a large screen, which got really bright as the sky got dark. I wish there was more lighting with candles and tabletop lights. Views were nice if you walk towards the back of the restaurant. Drinks 4/5 - Love the uniqueness Food 3/5 - We ordered the oysters, ceviche roll, bluefin roll, and crab & scallop roll. My favorite was the crab & scallop roll. Kaiyo is elite! You want a rooftop with gorgeous views, well-crafted cocktails, and some fire sushi, check it out. The hype and price is worth your time, and if you're in need of treating yourself, Kaiyo is the way to do it. It's been a while since I went there but I would recommend this spot to anyone. That tuna belly was fatty, fresh, and scrumdiliumptious. Those other rolls pictured were also fire. The texture was right and the fish was perfectly splendid. read more

I love taking friends from out-of-town here. Gorgeous views and nice ambiance to catch up with friends, even a larger group. We usually share a variety of dishes - I feel like they update their menu relatively frequently so there's always something new to try. Also just great dishes to share in general. We got oysters, fried chicken, and some raw fish to share. The cocktails are also pretty fun! Definitely make a reservation -- and don't book for the Kaiyo without a rooftop!! It's worth the $ for the view and the ambiance. read more
It was a great time at Kaiyo! We made it here after a Giants game. Reservations highly encouraged. We came here for cocktails. They were creative. The koro's big day out was a balance of salt, tart, and heat. The space adventure cobra was a fun drink. We ended up ordering bites as well. It was tasty but the portions were quite small. The space was beautiful and offered a panoramic view of the bay. The only downside was the wind. Both heaters at each end of the table were not working and we had a tough time getting some to help us. read more

If you are coming here for the ambiance & view, this is the place! However, foods are subpar and price is high for what you are getting. Also not kids friendly. Parking is not too bad, there is a paring garage not too far from the restaurant. Entry is a bit strange, you couldn't get in from the hotel, there's a small entrance on the side of the hotel. However when we got out, we got out from the hotel lobby. read more
Solid rooftop bar. Quite a bit of choices for cocktails... My favorites were the pom poko and watermelon frutillada. Prices are a bit steep with each drink coming in at about $17/18 but I guess pretty comparable to other roof top bars. Overall, it's a cool spot to visit and check out the food. read more
Came here for my besties birthday celebration. It has great views and heater to keep all of us warm. Food and drinks are a bit pricey; thus, I would come here for special occasions only. I would recommend the drink with a lady cup for those who are not a fan of alcohol. It's not too strong. read more

Entrance was confusing, we had to be led by a person through the restaurant to the elevator which was an odd concept! Only checked this place out because my friends really wanted to see what the hype was about couple months back so we are finally here. Service was meh. We were seated right in front of the big screen tv and although it had heating lamps I preferred seating near the view that's why we went there in the first place. The whole bar area was so tiny I saw people just smushed like sardines trying to stand or walk by. We literally sat down and the waitress said their kitchen is about to close soon so that caught me by surprise. Didn't even look at the menu yet and it was not great customer service etiquette. Waitress came back took our drink order and that took about a good 25 minutes or so. Then we waited about 25 minutes and she disappeared without letting us know she took a break or is handing off the table to someone else. I mean that's a given. We had to flag someone down so we can order. I was not happy. My friends face were not happy. It's like you make your friends come out hours away for service like this is an embarrassment and they're celebrating you. Could had gone to other rooftops around the area. The Kaiyo and Lima seemed popular and we wanted fries so we ordered the basic. We ate drank and checked out. Still had to flag someone down for the bill too. After our dinner mishap this was a repeat of the same ordeal. Undercharged my friend's card while the rest was in cash. Again they charge d her twice and she has to wait for the reversal. It was crazy. If you run this show day and night no matter the hustle and bustle, charging a card at $35 is not so hard. My friend was charged $25. Again she got so annoyed and was done at this point. Went to another bar at this point. It wasn't all that social media and Yelp depict the place to be. Think they were better off playing music videos on the big screen than sports channel where no one is paying attention or can't hear. Lmao. What an interesting belated birthday night I ended with. The ambiance is fantastic! Views are great and it's a nice spot for dinner or drinks. We came here at night - it was windy and a little chilly, but luckily I brought a coat. I keep coming back after the past year and half since they have been open. I believe the location, food, and drinks keep reeling me back in. Better yet don't forget that skyline view from the rooftop! I think a lot of city rooftops can be pretty gimmicky with mediocre food and drinks but I actually think the food is really good. This a great spot for a tapas and drinks date. Portions are small and are enough to share with one other person or just yourself. I'm a fan of the Japanese/Peruvian, Nikkei-style type of food. The seafood dishes are fresh and savory. Everything is always consistent to me. I am glad to finally see something new-- Game Day menu! Typically the ceviche, rolls, and nigiris are great choices. The drinks are OK and are pretty pricey so I refrain from ordering rounds. Reservations book up really quickly so plan the week of and do some research on the weather. Some parts of the rooftop are enclosed and there are heaters but it can't exactly beat the wind. Good vibes and ambiance. read more

What a cute rooftop bar! We went on a weekday and it was completely packed. Please make a reservation, we walked up to the host and she told us that they would call us 1.5 later they never called us. We stood at the bar and ordered our food. The ceviche sushi was excellent however I wanted more! The crumchyness of the roles was great. The limo sushi was good, but interesting my fiance loved because he is a huge fan of lomo. Empanadas were good but so tiny! And the shrimp was my number one pick because it was crunchy and hot and the shrimp was not over cooked. I will come back. The views of this place are amazing! The sunset in the city was great. Really cool view especially at sunset. We watched all the city lights come on. It was really beautiful. Four of us had a cozy corner bench and low table with nice heaters. One star down for inconsistent service. Itwas a little slow with waiters disappearing for a little occasionally and I didn't quite know who to order from when I needed a drink refill when we hadn't seen our waiter for a while but three different people had brought different plates. The first glass of cava came out completely flat and we had to ask for a new glass. All in all a great meal with delicious food. The dip with the fries was so good I dipped everything in it. The yucca fries were such a treat, not easy to find on menus. The tuna roll with jalapeño was the favorite dish of the night. Followed closely both the karaage, again served with a fantastic sauce. Would absolutely return to try more of the menu and explore the fun cocktails. read more
This is one of my favorite rooftops in the city. It has such a fun tropical vibe to it, it almost feels like you're not in San Francisco. The food is delicious. I love their sushi rolls and their drinks are also so good. Each one is very unique and refreshing. They have the cutest mugs for some of their drinks, which makes for really cute photos. This is a great spot to visit for a girls night out or even a date night. read more

KAIYŌ Rooftop My friend took me out for a late birthday dinner here and it was an amazing time! I love rooftop bars, it's always nice eating with a view. It was a clear night, so the skyline was very clearly visible. They had a plethora of heaters surrounding the entire place to make sure we stayed warm. The servers were great and very efficient. We got the seafood platter which came with Nikkei oysters, choros, ceviche, seasonal shellfish, seaweed salad, cancha, edamame, and leche de tigre shots. We also got the blue fin tuna toast as an appetizer. The food was alright, wasn't mind-blowing, it was okay.The drinks seemed very weak as well, we got The 'Classic' and Satsuki visits Peru. Heading to a rooftop bar on a Tuesday calls for a midweek pick me up right? KAIYŌ is the spot to be. Located at the Hyatt Plaza, KAIYŌ is one of three concepts coming to the Hyatt. The rooftop provides a perfect silhouette of the city skyline and the bay bridge while providing a tropical oasis with a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cultures and flavors. The cocktail bar and lounge offer a menu that is designed for sharing with friends or colleagues. And we saw a ton of colleagues here on Tuesday. Service was wonderful. I tried to get a reservation ahead of time but was unable to secure it. We walked in around 5pm and was seated around 5:45. Honestly not a bad wait, especially with the view. Bar seating, lounge seating or standard seating available. Their beverage menu was very enticing and their food...perfect. We ordered sushi, fries and the chicken sandwich. For two girls, we left pretty fully. As with any rooftop in San Francisco, a jacket is mandatory, even on those scorching hot days because the nights do get chilly. Cannot wait to come by again and try out the restaurant on the first floor and the cow hollow location. read more
