KazuNori was absolutely delicious. From the moment the hand rolls hit the table, I could tell why so many people recommend this place. I tried the tuna hand roll and the crab hand roll, and neither one disappointed. The fish tasted incredibly fresh, the seaweed had the perfect crispness, and every bite had an amazing balance of texture and flavor. It's one of those meals where you slow down just to appreciate how well everything comes together. The atmosphere made the experience even better. The vibe inside is relaxed, welcoming, and perfect for enjoying great food without feeling rushed. Watching the hand rolls being prepared right in front of you adds to the experience, and you can tell they put a lot of pride into every roll they serve. I wish I remembered my server's name because everyone made us feel right at home. I already can't wait to come back and work my way through the rest of the menu. 7.12.26 - wanted something quick and light before day 2 of a festival so my cousin and I came here. It was nearly 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon but luckily, it wasn't too busy so we were able to grab seats right away. We both chose the 6 Hand Roll set for $29 which included toro, yellowtail, salmon, scallop, crab and lobster. I would've went with a smaller set if they had uni but they unfortunately did not have uni on this day. I like that they ask if you have any allergies to anything to substitute out any rolls. I also liked that, when presenting the rolls, she told us what each one was. Pricing here is actually decent. $29 for 6 rolls and I was full already by the 5th roll. Quality of the fish was good too. If you're looking for decently priced simple hand rolls, then you might like this place. I've had hand rolls in OC and 3 different spots in Vegas and I gotta say I prefer the ones in OC/Vegas more. They are more expensive though but they have some different items that I like. They also have dipping sauces while this place has just soy sauce. Parking here is valet only. Not sure why all plazas in Ktown do this. It would be annoying if I did drive out here and have to pay for valet/parking everywhere I go. read more

I went to KazuNori in NYC about three years ago and it was just okay. Recently, I've been wanting to go back to try it again as I feel I have matured I was in LA visiting a friend and he was like "do you like hand rolls? We could go to KazuNori." Well, turns out I was right. I have matured. I got the 5 piece set and it was delicious. We went Friday around 2 and it was empty. Service could have been a minute or two shorter between each roll, but honestly not terrible considering we were busy catching up. Last time, I remembered not liking one of the rolls (I think crab), but this time, I enjoyed each roll. The seaweed was crispy, rice warm & fish fresh. Everything was so yummy. This was my first time at KazuNori (after much anticipation) and it didn't disappoint. This is probably the most budget-friendly hand roll bar I've been to and despite the affordability, the hand rolls were delicious! The staff were also very friendly and personable. Additionally, parking is free before 4pm and I believe they have validation as well. The only note I had (such a small one too) was that I wish the hand rolls were served in the order on the menu, so I knew what I was eating. Sometimes they forgot to tell us but I think just following the order on the menu (even when certain hand rolls are switched out) would help a lot. I love kazunori and this is not my first time eating here but it was my first time at this location. The people here were so kind and the restaurant was ADA compliant! They have a 3 seat section at the end that could fit anyone in a wheelchair. Super grateful to the staff for offering this option. Attention ti detail was great they even have an unscented and scented soap for before and after eating. Food was also very fresh. Came here to catch up with a friend on a Friday night and we were able to score seating pretty quickly. It was semi-busy but no wait time or anything. The ambience in general is cute. I feel like it's a great date night spot because of the dim lighting and the intimate bar-style seating. If you like sitting across from someone, don't come here as this is only bar-style seating. We both opted for the 6 hand-roll set ($29 each). We also each ordered our own sake ($7 each) and I separately got a Sapporo premium beer. The pacing of food is perfect since they actively watch where you are with your food and if you finish, it triggers them to make the next one for you. I will say that particularly for me (not my friend), they weirdly skipped one of the hand rolls and we noticed it so I brought it to their attention. They go in order of what's listed on the menu and I had noticed I didn't receive the salmon so he basically gave me that one next. Had I not said anything, I would've only gotten 5. The reason why I didn't give a full 5 stars is that I felt like the hand rolls just have way too much rice. At least, the fish to rice ratio was too unequal to me. I think they should charge a little bit less for the hand rolls and just leave a little bit less rice and add slightly more fish. That's just my perspective. Every one was pleasant and helpful upon entering the restaurant and ordering. The space was chill and quiet. I was told their rush hour is 7pm, so if you are able to come before, do it! Been to the one in Downtown multiple times and have loved our experience. Same consistency here in Ktown as well, but with less of a crowd. When we showed up for an early dinner, the bar was empty, so we were quickly seated. We ordered the 4 hand rolls and each were made to order and thoughtfully paced. Very simple, fresh ingredients, left feeling full and happy. Decor is very simplistic, quiet. Located in the Chapman Plaza, you can either valet park with them or try your best finding street parking. Just watch out for no parking hours on the main streets, easy to get towed. After trying Sugarfish in NYC and having a good experience, I wanted to KazuNori in LA, since it is created by the same team. They keep it simple: fresh hand rolls, made to order, served lightning fast. Although they offer 3,4,5,6 hand roll sets as well as individual sashimi and hand rolls, I went all in with the largest 6-roll lineup! My thoughts: They bring you individual rolls so you are supposed to eat them one at a time to preserve maximum freshness. I was first struck by the contrast between the warm rice and the slightly cold seaweed. Then the fish hit! 1) Toro: Buttery, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. 2) Yellowtail: Brightened with little pops of green onion. 3) Salmon: Sesame seeds on top were crunchy, though the minced texture muted the flavor. 4) Scallop: Diced in creamy sauce with tiny roe for sweetness + a delicate crunch. 5) Crab: Nicely shredded in a light, creamy mix. 6) Lobster: My favorite. If I were to come back here it would definitely be for a date or with a good buddy of mine. It's not somewhere I feel like I would want to come alone since for the price and what you get, at least for me I need one more reason to treat myself to something like this. If you're not too familiar with hand roll restaurants I would recommend going for one of their sets and from there if you were to return either go for individual rolls or make some substitutions. A lot of their fish did not have flavors pop at out me hence the slightly lower rating. It was only on the crab that I tasted the fish more than just the seaweed and rice. I absolutely LOVE Kazunori. I've been to the Westwood location as well and found that the quality of food and service are pretty consistent between the two locations. Went to the Ktown location during LA restaurant week and did the restaurant week menu, which was essentially the 5 handroll combo + a serving of salmon sashimi, but at the price of the 5 handrolls (which I thought was a pretty good deal). As usual, the seafood was all so fresh and tasty, and the handrolls were perfectly made. I also love how they give you one roll at a time, waiting to give you the next one until a few minutes after you finished the previous one. I find that this really helps me enjoy the meal more and savor each handroll's unique flavors. It is Ktown, so parking is paid. The restaurant is in the complex with Quarters KBBQ, Toebang, Tiger Sugar, etc, so it does get a bit crowded at peak times. The restaurant is dimly lit and has an intimate feel, and is a great place for a special (but still affordable) meal. read more

My husband and I LOVE hand rolls, so I was pretty excited to discover that our beloved Sugarfish also runs Kazunori. Much like Sugarfish, the menu is quite traditional and limited. You really have to LOVE fish and not desire to come here for anything but. If you are coming to have a California roll, or something basic and American, you may not appreciate the simplicity and the high quality of this. I have to say that my preference taste-wise is for YUNOMI, which is an excellent hand roll place in downtown, but in my conscience, I cannot give KazuNori a lesser rating than 5 stars over preference alone. This place does not disappoint in the high quality of their fish. It does seem to be a bit lackluster compared to Sugarfish - there's a certain smell and excitement when going there, and I was surprised the option of ordering real wasabi was not available - although I can understand, if people are not asking for it, why would they have it? We did the 6 hand roll set, and all of the rolls were exceptional. A little heavier on the rice comparatively, but they all tasted phenomenal. They sure know whom to source for their seaweed, because it's just crispy enough that you're not tearing too much when taking a bite. First was the toro - and this was great, although toro is so delicate, so buttery, that I would prefer it not chopped, but as is, to not disrupt the amazing texture. Next, we had yellowtail, which was amazing, followed by the salmon, then the bay scallops. which I love. I love how small and fresh they were, with a light creaminess, not overwhelmed by the mayo (pretty sure it's mayo). The crab roll was next, which was a wonderful flavour and nice and meaty. Lobster was also rich and delicious. We also ordered the Toro sashimi, which was chopped, and I think this subtracts from the actual presence of what Toro is - fatty tuna belly. It's delicate, rich, and just melts in the mouth. Chopping it up kind of ruined the art of the Toro for me, so I wish it would be like the Tuna sashimi they serve in Sugarfish. There were things that weren't my preference, but I still cannot let this disrupt or affect that I should leave 5 stars. I would say I prefer Yunomi to here, but it's because they perhaps have different tastes, while KazuNori is very traditional, and the quality of the fish is SUPERB. If you love Sugarfish, you will love KazuNori. I also would note that since this is quite traditional, this is a non top establishment, but has a service fee or similar. It's more than worth it. If you think it's overpriced for what it is, you sadly do no not know what things do and can cost! read more

It is decorated simply, but beautifully inside. Earthy and neutral tones really set the comfort level. Since I was a party of 1, I was seated immediately. As this was my first time, the staff was very friendly, attentive, and helpful with explaining the menu layout and options for me. You're given a paper menu and pencil to select what you'd desire. I was served a water fairly quickly without needing to ask, which I truly appreciate!! Each menu item will be made to order and delivered one at a time - so keep this in mind. All of the dish and ingredients used for my hand rolls and sashimi tasted incredibly fresh. It was tucked perfectly, with little to no need for me to adjust the rice from the opposite end. The flavor was delicious in its own, really no need to use the soy sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience here. I went with the 4 hand roll selection and yellowtail sashimi. After having drank a matcha on the drive over, I felt full! But the beauty of it is that you can always order additional items after your initial input. The staff is super on top of clearing your dishes and checking in to see if you need anything else at all. Unfortunately, I did not take photos of my items since I didn't want to keep touching my phone and hand rolls. But trust me.. they taste as good as they look! :) I can't wait to go back and possibly try a different location. After just having sugarfish the day prior, I can confidently say that they are fairly similar with quality, taste, offerings and price.
