I've been here several times now, a rarity given how I like trying new places and rarely repeat. It's a bit inconsistent sometimes but it's pretty good for what you get. Twice I got complimentary soup, twice did not. Maybe end of day is better in terms of what they give out. Sometimes there's condiments. Their outdoor eating area kind of changes too a bit sometimes. I get the OG taco usually and my gf gets the ceviche. Never had complaint although on most recent trip the ceviche seemed smaller portion. The taco was 5.99 each and fish seemed bigger than usual. I kind of suspect that as they close down they give bigger portions of what they have left. They had sold out of octopus and other menu items. Do try get there before 6:30pm cause they do start packing around 6:45 ish. Quality is good, tastes fresh. Tacos were filling for just $12. You're probably not supposed to but I often park in complex across street but street parking is easier. There's a $1 fee for credit so bring cash if that's a concern. The Plus, Great Fish tacos, the tortilla chips are better than any taco shop or Mexican restaurant. There are 3 -4 hot sauce choices. The down side, They are a little bit pricier than other " Taco Tuesday" specials, but the fish is crispy, which is a plus. The down side is you do have to ask for cheese on your tacos ( for example the Brigantine fish tacos include cheese), caution: the request will cost $2 per Taco Tuesday plate ,which includes 3 tacos for $9.99 with a small side of tortilla chips. Imagine my surprise when I was looking for Kiko's and XE Enterprise Group pop up in its place. Ever since discovering this at their original location across from Del Taco, I've been stopping by Kiko's whenever I get a chance to be in town. Personally, it's hard for me to compare Kiko's and Oscars since I like different things from them. But Kiko's has fantastic daily special which is always a steal! You can never go wrong with their fish taco and chingon (steak and shrimp) - so think surf and turf. I'm a little sensitive to spicy, but it does have a little heat to it. They have been updating/consolidating their menus the last few times I went, not in the sense that they're getting rid of food but less and less words and descriptions of what each item is. I had to look up previous Yelp reviews to see what certain tacos were. It's been a while, but their ceviche is pretty fire and a massive portion! It's also part of the daily specials if you want to come on a Tues, Wed, or Thurs for a shot! Tuesday is my favorite special since you can get 3 fish tacos for 9.99 where as a regular fish taco runs you 6.99 each! The portions are massive so they do match the price! Everything is made to order, so you can count on it being fresh. They always offer you their fish stew while you wait for your order. They take both card and cash, but cash is always king here. You can pack your limes and salsas while you wait for your order. They do have a few small standing tables for eating on site under canopies or take it to go and eat in your car. Really solid fish tacos at such an affordable price! We came here on a brief layover in SD, around 3 pm on a Monday (holiday) and it was still totally packed. Staff is all super sweet and welcoming. We both got the Monday special, which is a fried fish and fried shrimp taco. You get a free cup of soup with each, and we really enjoyed it! It takes a bit for the food to come out but they are a small team handling a ton of orders so we had no issue waiting and appreciated the tents to provide some shade. The sauces are all delicious, and I love that they labeled the caps with spice levels because I never know if the salsa verde will be mild or burn a hole in my stomach. After all of the hype, I had to try the original Kikos. While I think these tacos are okay, I wouldn't put them at the top of my "best tacos" or "best seafood tacos" in SD list. I probably won't return either. I ordered the OG fish and shrimp tacos. The fish was cooked well, but I felt both tacos were bland. The shrimp was slightly overcooked, and both proteins had a lot of excess breading. The tortillas and toppings were also just okay. The prices were outrageous given what you can get elsewhere and the size of the portions. If you're looking for great seafood tacos, I highly recommend going to La Sinaloense, Mar y Tierra, or El Prieto instead. I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

Their recommended ceviche ended up being really good had 3 fresh oysters which I ended up eating 1 before posting a picture of the meal. So glad I tried their mixed seafood ceviche! Been wanting to come here for a while after hearing Kiko's has some of the best fish tacos in San Diego! It's located on the side of the road-thankfully, it was easy to find parking. I came on a Tuesday and got their special which included 1 fish taco, 1 shrimp taco, and the broth. In addition to this, I also tried the fish ceviche. Service was quick and there's a salsa bar on the side to pour your desired salsas. It was actually my first time trying ceviche and I liked it! Healthy, high protein, and flavorful! I also enjoyed the shrimp and fish tacos! The green cilantro and orangey chipotle salsas really compliment the seafood. The broth is good too- just a tad bit salty to my liking. This has been my go-to spot for fish tacos for years now. The quality is consistently fresh and flavorful--never disappoints. There has been a recent menu change, and with it, a noticeable price increase. The OG fish taco is now $5.99 (used to be $3.50 in 2024), which is a bit of a jump. That said, they still deliver on taste and portion. The octopus taco is $10, which sounds steep, but to be fair--it's loaded with octopus and definitely worth trying if you're a fan. My favorite fish taco spot in San Diego! I love coming on Taco Tuesdays for their 3 ginormous fish tacos. It takes a bit to prepare the food, but the fish is freshly battered and fried. The cabbage and salsas also are very fresh. I recommend getting the orange chipotle sauce. read more

The tacos here are great!! I tried their shrimp and fish tacos and enjoyed them so much! Love all the sides and salsas provided. The problem I had was with their shrimp ceviche. Upon opening the box, I saw the shrimp was still gray (completely raw). Ceviche is one of my favorite dishes and I'm very familiar with it. I get that it's cooked in the acid of lime juice, but the flavor of this ceviche was very light in regards to the acid amount. And the texture was just completely off. It was slimey and left a residue in my mouth. The ceviche made the meal horrible. I tossed the whole thing after one bite. I'm not sure if this is a one off situation bc photos of the ceviche from other ppl do not look the same way mine did. I think if there's someone that's been waiting for before the phone calls, she could ask them to hold and address the person who was there first. Oh Kiko's... What happened to this once must go-to for fish tacos and aguachile is no longer on the top of list for me. They just changed their menus, specials and all. Half of the menu items made zero sense. Example: 1983 taco (what is that?!) even the person who took our order had to ask the kitchen what it's made of. Went with the OG fish taco (teenie tiny for $6) and birria burrito; good and quality birria but small for $14.50. Daily special menu has changed since earlier this month and no longer a great deal. :( In search of new taco truck now. No consome was offered while we waited for our order. Sorry Hole Mole, Wahoo's & and Solita, this place is freakin premium out from the truck. Not only that, they offered us a free complimentary soup to sip on during that windy afternoon. We originally wanted to go to a different place, but it was so hard to find parking so you know what, we tried something new! First time, my husband advised me to tone it down and just order a little bit LOL we did the battered fish tacos and the garlic shrimp tacos. Sad news everyone. The 3 OG taco plate on Tuesdays went from $5 pre Covid days, up to $9.99, then back down to $7.99 a few months ago, and now... it's gone. Probably won't be back until that returns. All the prices went up. I'm guessing they over leveraged themselves opening the new physical location and are getting screwed on the rent like every other restaurant in SD and now those costs are getting passed off to the customers. This will likely affect the quality of ingredients as well. I won't be recommending this place anymore. read more

A friend told me about this truck & had to try it while I was in town. I missed the truck the first time around but eventually found it as it's parked on the side street. Food is really good. But the free fish soup was super tasty! I ordered the mixed seafood taco. There were pieces of meat at the bottom of my mixed seafood taco which through me off so I didn't eat the bottom of the taco as the little pieces were stuck with the melted cheese. The fish ceviche was good. And presentation of the ceviche was beautiful. Staff were friendly. They charge an extra $0.75 for using credit card but it's free to Venmo. EDIT: Regarding the comment from Kiko's, I meant I've been going to Kiko's since *before* their move to Mission Valley years ago, when they were previously at Texas Food & Liquor. To me, them not knowing this information confirms that the truck has changed ownership at some point since then. I've been going to Kiko's for years, since they've been on Texas in front of the liquor store. The garlic octopus tacos I got today were insanely sad. They were missing half of the usual ingredients (cabbage, pico, sauce) and it was crazy overcooked. It was literally just WHOLE garlic cloves and a few chunks of overcooked octopus with fried cheese on top. If you look at the photos in here, that's far from what it's supposed to normally look like. What's happening, has ownership changed? I'll be really upset if I lose this place. read more

Came here for a weekday lunch. A promising sign was that the clientele are mostly blue collar workers (they often know best). Mixed Ceviche: a nice combination of shrimp, fish, and octopus, but I felt it was on the bland side and could use some more flavor. It comes with 4 tostadas, and I felt that for $22 it should have been more substantial. We had to get another order of tostadas. OG Fish Taco: A solid construction with plenty of crema, cabbage, and a good chunk of fish. I was disappointed because the fried fish was not crispy (and we ate there, it had spent 0 time steaming inside the container). The salsas were not particularly spicy, but very tasty, particularly the green one. Overall a little disappointed since my hopes were up by the pictures and reviews of this place.
