I came across this place on google maps and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Wrap which came with fries which I did not expect. The wrap was decent but I would not rave about it. I have tasted better so I think there is room for improvement. I think they add too much sauce and there is a lack of flavor. Also grilling the shawarma is a good idea but don't burn the outside. :) The restaurant is easy to find and very clean. They take credit cards and cash. Z Falafel is the place to go for Mediterranean food if you are in Downtown Los Angeles! The owner Tony is friendly and attentive to his customers. He offered us a sample platter that contained a variety of amazing foods such as Beef Kafta, Chicken Kabab, Greek Fries, Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Falafel, Rice, Tabouli Salad, Grape leaf, and Baklava. The foods were fresh and flavorful, and to top it off, the presentation is spectacular! Every item tasted amazing, but our favorite was the Beef Kafta, Chicken Kabab, Falafel, Hummus, and Baklava. The Beef Kafta was seasoned perfectly and is extremely tender and savory. The Chicken Kabab had a nice smokiness to it and was very juicy. The Falafel was a crispy delicacy that had a unique herby taste to it. The Hummus had a velvety smooth texture and tasted very rich, nutty, and buttery (honestly, the best hummus we have ever had). Finally, the Baklava was crispy, flaky, and perfectly sweet. Although the restaurant is in Downtown Los Angeles, the parking is not that bad. There are a plethora of options for parking placed nicely around the vicinity of Z Falafel. We highly recommend the food here; it is reasonably priced, has amazing flavors, and a variety of options that even a picky eater will be able to find something they like! I loved how flavorful their kabobs were and especially loved dipping them into the hummus and tzaziki sauce. I gotta go back to try their other combination plates and their appetizers. I tried the combo grill plate, which comes with beef and lamb gyro, chicken kabab, kafta kabab, rice, hummus, salad, and pita bread. My favorite was the kafta, which is lean ground beef chopped with onions and parsley and seasoned with spices. It was so tender and juicy, which was a nice surprise! I usually don't care for rice, but the rice here was so fluffy and flavorful that I kept shoveling it into my mouth. The hummus was so rich and creamy, and I dipped everything into it because how could I not? I also ordered some falafel, which I had to try because it's in their name! This was some of the best falafel I've ever had--so fresh, crispy, and packed with flavor. It comes with tahini sauce, you know I just dipped it into the silky hummus. We were happy to discover this spot in DTLA for all our cravings.  The space is bright and clean with seating inside and a couple tables outside as well. They even have a corner that serves acai bowls. The staff and owner are also super friendly and welcoming.  We tried a little of everything, and our favorites are the super crispy falafels, flavorful juicy beef kafta, tender chicken shawarma, the fresh hummus is a must! They taste delicious layered over rice and with the salad and pita bread.  Everything is really reasonably priced too, a big tasty meal will only run you about 11 to 13$.  Great small business to support! read more

Mohammed and the folks at Z Falafel (soon the be renamed Killer Kabob) were absolutely incredible! I needed a catering order the next day, and not only were they super accommodating, but when I needed to call back the next day to update the catering order, they readily accommodated that as well. When the food was delivered to our venue, Mohammed was so kind. Not only did he help transport the food into the venue -- after having to drive around a bit to find it, I'll add (those one-way streets in Downtown LA are tough) -- but he also arranged all the food on our serving table. The food was so delicious that our guests were grateful that the portions were so generous, allowing them to pack away plates to take with them! Went here with my daughter and husband after jewelry shopping yesterday and we were very pleasantly surprised. The food was absolutely delicious and very generous proportions. Great find downtown! I got the combo grill plate and a side of falafel. It was a ton of food, definitely enough for 2-3 meals. The plating for the combo is the most aesthetically pleasing arrangement I've ever seen. My favorites were the fluffy pita and freshly fried falafel. Lots of places skip on fresh pita and it makes such a difference! The hummus is smooth and tasty, not too much tahini which is how I like it. I also liked the baba ghanoush a lot. Of the meats, my favorite was the lamb and beef shawarma and the chicken shawarma. I appreciate that the food is fresh and light, there wasn't a ton of salt or oil in their food. This cute little restaurant was suggested to me by a friend and I am SO happy I went. The food is delicious, the staff is so friendly, the owner is very attentive and accommodating, the portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. Parking can be tough to find in DTLA but I was luckily able to find some street parking that wasn't metered so I was able to enjoy my food without feeling rushed. The establishment doesn't have bathrooms so keep that in mind when you visit though they may be kind enough to let you wash your hands after eating in their sink. I went with my boyfriend and we both had the Combo Grill Plate and were stuffed afterwards. Definitely, we both enjoyed our time here. It's our new favorite Mediterranean restaurant! read more

First of all, I gotta say: The service here is amazing, especially Tony! First time trying Falafel and this place did not disappoint. The meat was so flavorful. My favorite was the gyro and the beef. The salad dressing and the purple pickled veggies was also to my liking. You can park on the street (if you're lucky), pay for public parking, or you can park at the nearby Ralph's (free parking for 90 mins with validation from Ralph's). The price is reasonable. The presentation was great. I was totally consumed with getting the party together and making sure the make strippers arrived on time I failed at getting any pictures of the food! I had to order for work and decided to try this place. I like trying places which can be a risk sometimes. So we got our order in and was told it will be an hour wait. So we left work to drive here and pick up our order. It was ready when we got there. The owner was very nice. And as much as I want to give this place a 4 or 5 star, I had to give them 3 stars only. Why? Because all of our order was dry and overcooked. We ordered a few salmon plate and chicken kabob plates and ALL of them were overcooked. It was marinated well though. I felt bad for everyone who complained about their food. The serving was okay. I wouldn't say it was a lot or a little. I dont think we will be ordering from here again. read more
