This is a gem in Chinatown, New York. It's at the corner of Hester & Allen, around the corner from Scarr's. The walls are covered in graffiti. You would never guess they sell legit Chinese food here. I got the pork & chives dumplings. They were so good. The dumpling wrap was thicker than that of gyoza. The meat inside was flavorful and darker in color. One order is 10 pieces for $4. My stomach just growled as I'm typing this lol. I think they fry the dumplings in batches, so my order was ready along with the other 3-4 parties who were waiting with me. It seems like a lot of people get it to-go. There are a few tables inside, but I wouldn't bet on being able to bring a huge group (more than 4 ppl) inside. This is hands down one of the best value meals you will find in the area (heck in probably all of NYC). While cash only (which I respect to keep costs down), it was $4 for 10 (!) Consistently delicious pork and chive dumplings. Not only a great value, but also taste alone (esp paired with their hot sauce) was worth it. Their scallion pancake sandos and noodle soups also looked good, so will def try next time. Ambiance wise - it's no frills, couple of communal tables and counter space. Works well with a quick meal! I only got the fried dumplings here because I was already full from the other place, but wanted to try this place too before I fly home. There were about 4 people making dumplings in the back. There was no wait when I got there, and it took about 5 minutes for my dumplings to be ready. I ate one right there, but it was steaming hot, so a bit hard to really enjoy. I pour some sauce in the container, and took it with me to eat at the airport. An hour after buying it, I ate it are the airport. It was so super yummy. The sauce has soaked into the dumplings by then, and I feel like it actually tasted better that way. It wasnt steaming hot anymore, so I was able to take a big bite to really savour the dumplings. The place is not that big - a longer table and counter seating along the front window. I think I might've ordered the wrong thing. I got the duck sesame pancake and there was hardly any duck in it. It was more like duck skin and the smallest bits of duck in it. Heard some hype surrounding King Dumplings! I'm sad that I didn't try to come here earlier! The store is pretty unassuming since the storefront is pretty lowkey. The inside is pretty small, though there is some seating available. I guess since we came on a weekend it was pretty packed. Even then, we got to place an order pretty quickly and got our food within 7 minutes; I think it would've been faster if we came at another time. I will say the ordering and pickup process is pretty messy -- the workers will call out the order, but there seemed to be confusion among customers as to who that order belonged to. They would probably benefit from using a number system. As for the food, the chive and pork fried dumplings were delicious. I liked the value of it since it's pretty filling and you get 10 for $4.
