My husband's Nuestra Signora was unbearably sour. They did take my drink off of our tab. This place is really only worth visiting if you're staying in the hotel.

Today, at late-morning breakfast, with only a quarter of the place full, it took 10 minutes after being seated to be attended to. The first runner grumbled when I asked for cream for my coffee. The items I ordered were lukewarm, like they came from the buffet. The second runner completely forgot my request for a few condiments. If I'm in a diner, so what? But, not here, especially in a great city like Chicago. Sigh... Definitely still prefer the look and feel from before the remodel. It's much colder now, like the chicken sausages that came to my table.

The servers were all very kind and addressed me by my name which I didn't realize how warm that felt until I experienced it at Adorn - the little things certainly matter and I appreciated the added touch. The ambiance is peaceful and the lighting is intimate enough for the perfect date or a solo evening with a good book (which is what I did that evening). Adorn is a must try when in Chicago! I was glad the food lived up to my expectations as not all restaurants in 5 star hotels do.

We ordered the $1.00 East Coast Oysters, Mignonette, Lemon which came on an impressive brass stand that instantly elevated our experience. Next came a bowl of steaming, heaping Mussels Mariniere, White Wine, Shallots, Garlic, Lemon, Herbs de Provence ($10) that was delicious although the Broth could use a little less Lemon to be less puckery. The Steak Tartare, Potato Fritter, Hanger Steak, Shallots, Calabrian Chili, Garlic Aioli, Smoked Egg Yolk ($12) was beautifully presented as 3 different pieces topped with Smoked Egg Yolk on white Garlic Aioli which resembled Egg White and was excellent and unexpected on the Potato Fritter which could have been even better if the Fritter was crispier. The Escargot, Garlic, Maître d' Butter ($15) came topped with tiny Puff Pastry which was unusual but still delivered all the umami of this classic French dish. Our waitress was sweet but she was too busy taking care of the entire dining room at HH that she didn't check on us for long stretches of time as we sat in the booth and not quite in her eyesight. Still, it was a wonderful experience with lovely ambience and delicious food at unbeatable prices. It's a pity that Venteux recently reduced its HH from Mon-Sat 4-7PM to Mon-Fri 4-6PM. Let's hope Venteux will not reduce it any further.

An iced latte is listed on their menu as $7 but when he rang it up my total was $9.50. The receipt did not have a breakdown of the charges so I'm unsure where the extra $2.50 came into play. Surely that was not all tax. I thought the drink was rather small and bitter for nearly $10, and could not be something in good faith I could recommend. The service was good, but nothing exceptional. Particularly for goods at that price point. The front wall is all glass making the beauty of the store easily viewable from Michigan Ave, drawing in tourists. Our server was quick to approach our table, even though hubs had wandered over to the bar to order. After I summoned him back, we ordered a couple of Stellas, a Filet Slider and Baked Goat Cheese; each item was $5 on the HH menu. A few minutes later, Hubs waved over our server again to order 4 oysters, which were BOGO during HH. Upon her suggestion, he chose the smaller East Coast oysters. He told me they were really good and he was happy with his choice. I had two good bites of the filet slider & was delighted at how delicious it was. The piece of meat was quite large, especially for $5! Thick & juicy, it was cooked perfectly medium rare. The slider was plated with lots of crispy string fries that were very tasty. Our other app, the baked goat cheese, was served atop a skillet of tomato sauce with four pieces of toasted bread. This was also a delicious plate. Service was very on-point, and we never felt rushed, even after Happy Hour ended. At some point, the pianist arrived & we enjoyed a rousing selection of yacht rock tunes as we finished our beers.
