I purchased a Harreesa (basboosa) for an event at my home. I was unpleasantly surprised when I opened the aluminum tray. First off the presentation was not appealing. The pistachio was dull and brown and looked like it was stale and old. As for the taste, the harreesa itself was dry, over sweetened, stale, thick, and didn't taste like harreesa what so ever. I was so excited to bring out the dessert for my family and friends and completely disappointed to see that nobody wanted a piece. We are hard pressed to find better Knafeh anywhere else and often travel an hour to cure our Knafeh craving. We also love their Warbat! Travel to nablus for the real deal. The owner is very cold and mean. If I were to strictly rate this place on just the food, then it would be 5 stars without a doubt. I had the kanafe and hareesa which were both amazing and tasted extremely authentic, which is very hard to find, especially since I am a tough critic coming from a middle eastern background. However, the customer service is what made me rate my overall experience a 3/5.. I sent my husband to pick up some desserts for me after finding the place on yelp last night. He told me the man at the counter was pretty rude to him and felt unwelcome there. There seems to be mixed reviews on the service, it's either terrible or wonderful, so I'm not sure what makes the employees decide whether or not they are going to be welcoming to their guests. I might stop by if I'm in the area, but I definitely won't go out of my way anymore with such an unwelcoming and negative vibe .. this sucks because I was soooo excited to find this place and the desserts are one of the bests I have ever had. read more

I have been here before and its cool that they have a place like this. The syurp on the backlava is so sweet and i like that they dont use rose water. Yeah methinks not! The service here really ticked me off. I had just finished my call shift and came here for a slice of knafeh. I asked for it to go and the woman at the front (cashier/staff) started speaking in her native tongue to what seemed like she was talking shit on me. Sorry I don't have the time/energy to sit in your store and eat but I've had a really long day! How do I know that she was talking about me you ask? Because she looked at me, looked back at another man standing in the kitchen, spoke in her language, and then said " to-go that is ridiculous...." in English! LOL. Really? Other than the horrible AND rude service the parking lot was pretty cramped but I was luckily still able to find a spot. I have had knafeh before and loved it. However it was suggested that having it fresh is a must do so a loved one and I visited this location and what a delicious experience! The knafeh I ordered came with ishta/ashta which is a type of cream (almost like clotted cream). It was very tasty. The perfect sweetness. If you have a sweet tooth you could add to it, a touch of orange blossom syrup (made in-house). While we were eating the owner came out, introduced himself and chatted with us for a while. Then offered us some Turkish coffee for the full dessert experience. The coffee was strong and dark. At first it knocked me back a bit but as the flavor settled, I began to understand how this was the perfect full stop to a sweet desert. If you are ever in this area, I'd suggest stopping in for a great treat! read more

Had a craving for Knafeh and came across this cafe on yelp, I was a little tedious because it was a 30 min drive from me but I thought what the heck. I was greeted and helped by the sweetest man! I only ordered a slice of knafeh bc I wanted to do a taste test in the car before buying more to bring home. I also asked for a few pieces of baklava and he recommended me a tray they had that was a better deal ( and delicious May I add ). As soon as I went back to the car, I took 1 bite and walked my ass right back inside to order a whole tray of knafeh. 100% the BEST knafeh I've EVER had!!! I've had knafeh from here before numerous times from family friends, however today was my first time coming in myself. I ordered it over the phone and it was made fresh and ready quickly! When I walked in I was greeted by the man behind the counter and he was extremely welcoming and warm. He kinda figured it was my first time in the shop and offered me a piece of hareeseh. Well i read so much about the 5 star knafeh that i just had to go there on this trip to Los Angeles. Who is writing the reviews, family of the shop owner? I have eaten knafeh in Nablus, Jerusalem, Amman, Jordan, and san diego so i had to try this, what a total waste of my calories. My nephew and i believe knafeh to be an experience of just the right cheese blended with knafeh dough and sugar syrup. First, the cheese was not fresh. It was hard to chew like gum. It did not string with warmth and melt in your mouth as the heat of the cheese blended with the simple syrup. The dough lacked flavor. Needless to say if you are a true nablusian, this is not good knafee to you. Dont waste your calories. Of course if you have never eaten real nablusian knafeh, then ignore this post, you dont know the difference. read more

The BEST baklava I've had in a long time! My mom loves the Knafeh and the Hareeseh Shamir with nuts best, but I stick with my favorite- baklava. Only issue is which type to get- so I usually get the assorted package. I highly recommend you try them, the owners are so kind and accommodating. We went here for our dessert today. We shared the dessert that had rosewater and pistachios. It wasn't super sweet - perfect. So my son enjoyed it, too. They had a variety for desserts here. Honey cake , cake with cheese which they will warm for you when ordered, ice cream and etc. I informed the gentleman that worked there that we were just at Desert Moon Grill and their dessert weren't ready yet and we understood that about why the cafe is empty due to Ramadan.
