Way to go Kona.....you got me! Against our better judgment, we stopped in for a bite to eat. Big mistake - we won't do that again!!! This place must be under new management (again) - service is awful and the food is mediocre. There are way too many sushi restaurants in Cherry Creek to have to settle for this place (and get charged $8 for a bottle of water). Who misses the "back in the day" Kona?? Skip it. Really unremarkable and pricy food. We got the power lunch. Which for 19 include an soup or salad, entre and a brownie to go. We also decided to order a side of the miso potatoes for 9 bucks. Let me say that these miso potatoes was a joke. We got the smallest thing of potatoes. Look at the photos for 9 bucks. And it was COLD!!!!! And no flavor. A cheap instant potatoes has more flavors. The service was okay. We were not allowed to use a coupon we had for signing up. Which was annoying as I had the coupon ready to go and the waitress refused to take it. The waitress said the food was all made from scratch but everything came out fast and did not taste home made. Overall the experience was alright, food was decent, and I loved the carrot cake. Sushi was fine, although I felt like it wasn't very fresh. Ambiance and service was wonderful & I recommend the New Jersey Roll. - Edamame: seasoned with sea salt & the dipping sauce that came with it was spicy & buttery--so good! - Carrot Cake: Came with Carmel topping which was unique & delicious - New Jersey Roll: the crab and deep fry complemented each other very well. My friend had to send back the Fire Dragon Roll because the Everclear alcohol (used to light the eel sauce surrounding the roll on fire table side) had leaked into the roll. Had dinner last night for my friends birthday and when we were greeted by the server, I inquired about this special that I had seen advertised to me in multiple places including open table. She said the special was available which I found odd. It's literally advertised saying 7 days a week?!!?! Maybe it's because there were a ton of prom goers but your regular customers should not be punished. Kona Grill's outdoor patio & happy hour was calling our names! Their Happy Hour menu runs Monday through Friday from 2-6pm & 7 days a week 9pm to close. The Happy Hour includes $3, $6, & $9 eats & drinks. I valeted my car at Cherry Creek Shopping Center before heading inside to Kona Grill. We were seated outside on the patio that was airy & filled with greenery (definitely a place you want to sit and hang out for a while). Our server Dana was knowledgeable on the menu & quick with service. For my Happy Hour cocktail, I got the Watermelon Margarita for $9. The Watermelon Margarita was made with lunazul tequila, Monin watermelon, & lime. This marg tasted like summer - naturally sweet from the watermelon with a kick from the tajin rim. Tanya got the Raspberry Mojito for $9. The mojito was refreshing with the sweet raspberries complementing the cool mint & bubbly soda water. Cassidy & Caroline got Skinny Margaritas for $9. The Skinny Margaritas were made with don julio blanco, cointreau, lime, & agave nectar. The skinny margaritas were light & tangy. For $6 eats we got the Crab Crunch Roll & Spicy Tuna Roll. I piled the finely diced chicken & shrimp into the crisp lettuce cups & enjoyed. The Avocado Egg Rolls were served with honey-cilantro dipping sauce. I fell in love with these egg rolls - the delicious honey-cilantro dipping sauce really took them to the next level. The Bama Roll was made with crab salad, cream cheese, jalapeño, tuna, avocado, soy paper, smelt roe, spicy motoyaki mayo. This was our favorite sushi roll of the evening. For $3 eats we got the Potstickers. The Potstickers were seared chicken & vegetable dumplings served with Asian slaw & traditional soy dipping sauce. From the regular menu we ordered the Seared Sea Bass Sliders made with miso sea bass, furikake, miso aioli, Asian slaw, cucumber salad, king's hawaiian rolls, & served with russet chips. Food took an hour to come out. Apparently, it only took 20 minutes to prepare though and then sat under heat lamps for 30-40 minutes. Chicken and rice was absolutely dried out and disgusting. The sauce on the chicken was actually dried out and coagulated on the surface of the chicken. Rice was hardened to the point of being visibly translucent. Giving the benefit of the doubt didn't work out - it took two glasses of water to get through four bites of the chicken. The sushi served to my daughter was down right dangerous. The server was doing her best, but the team as a whole failed. Anyone serving this food thinking it was ok needs their management training seriously re-evaluated. Ordered drinks that never arrived. My husband and I love happy hour Kona Grill! Their side dishes and drinks are SO delicious. The ambiance is great also--there's a patio seating option that has a lot of tall windows so the space doesn't feel enclosed but rather open. Then there's a huge indoor seating also, more relaxed, intimate space. They also validate your ticket for the garage parking if you eat at the restaurant so don't forget your ticket in your car! Was kind of wary about going to a place that has it all: sushi, burgers, pasta, steak, etc but we dared to try anyways, and I'm glad we did! Appetizers: We started off with Kona sliders which were fine, but possibly the most boring dish we had that evening. It was also quite dry. We also shared a spicy tuna roll which was actually super good! Tasted fresh and hits the spot for my spicy tuna craving. This makes me realize that I better try their other rolls or poke bowls the next time I go. Entrees: My fiancé LOVED his ribs. Lots of "mmm" noises from his end. I don't remember if I tried any, but it sounded like it was a meal he won't forget. I ordered the lemon garlic penne which was super duper filling I was able to eat that same dish for 3 days. Second time we ate here, a little better than the first. Food wise. The place is still pumping LOUD music like it's a club. We sat not very far away from a big table where the guests were shouting about their covid test results. Our server was a quiet man compared to the table next. He serviced us promptly and did everything we asked. Mom and I shared a Shrimp and Chicken Lettuce Wrap. Tasted pretty good. They use butter lettuce so that was different. We also split an entree: the Miso-Sake Chilean Sea Bass. Wow! It was the most buttery sea bass ever! Next to the charred Bok Choy, this was a great dish! I could taste the sake and while I was revering it, the manager walked by our table asking how everything was. Commented on how they use miso to marinate a great piece of fish. I had to agree. The shrimp and pork fried rice was sadly dismissed by us. Somehow it was a bit too "wet" for our taste. Came here after going shopping for a little bit and was completely disappointed. When first arriving, the host greeted us and sat us down right away, giving us high hopes for dinner. The ambiance was great, it was lively, and everyone looked like they were thoroughly enjoying themselves, but that and the presentation of their food is really all that this restaurant has going for it. After sitting down, my partner and I weren't greeted by a waiter/waitress for nearly thirty minutes. After finally ordering our drinks, they took another ten to bring them out. Our waiter checked on us a total of three times the whole three hours we were there. it took an hour for our food to finally come out and when it did we were severely disappointed. I got the Crunchy spicy tuna sushi, while my partner got the Filet. The tuna was so spicy that you couldn't taste any of the actual flavor happening in it. I would say I have a fairly high spice tolerance but it was so much that I would have to take breaks in between every two pieces so my mouth wouldn't feel like it was on fire. My partners filet was $50 and not worth it in the slightest. The filet itself was smaller than the palm of my hand and I have pretty small hands. The potatoes tasted like they were too busy to actually season them or even try to give them flavor and instead tasted like butter was the main ingredient. For somewhere so expensive and in Cherry Creek, I really expected more. I don't think we will ever return. read more

Amazing! First: if you are following your GPS, it will take you to the valet service right in front. It's only 15 bucks for 2 hours and it's pretty convenient, otherwise go a little further to find free parking (they validate there). Second: walking in, I felt soooo cozy. The vibes, and dim lighting, made me want to stay there, as did everyone's greetings. I felt super welcome there and I love it! Third: The server we had, Holden was the best. Even though my party was trickling in, he still went over the menu with everyone very patiently. He was very knowledgeable, and had me try a little of the red wine he recommended before I committed to it. I didn't like it, and wanted something sweeter, so he brought in the cupcake Moscato, and that was definitely the sweet I wanted. Besides that, he was on top of refills, always made sure we were good, and just very attentive, despite the chaos we caused at our table. Finally: the food was so good! My husband is especially picky, and hasn't been a fan of Asian food or burgers in most places, but he really liked the potstickers and the KG Burger, which is a compliment all in it's own, to any restaurant. I'm less picky, but also LOVED the stir fry. I cleaned the plate. Besides the potstickers, get the calamari for an appetizer! It was sooooooo good. The chocolate cake was a little TOO rich for my taste, but the cheesecake and brownie were good! Very long story short... GO HERE. You won't be disappointed. As many times as I have come to this mall I have never eaten here, well all that changed today . After shopping we decided we would grab a bite to eat at this really cute restaurant. Its such a huge establishment they took no time to get us seated -1 star . We sat and were greeted by our waiter , who reminded us it was happy hour (helping us save a few coins deserves another star) ordered water and a couple drinks and started browsing the menu . Lets just say thats where it ends. I started with a couple fish tacos and pot stickers... Fish tacos weren't good . At all . Thank goodness there was a sauce to save it (sauce helped immensely) ok how were your pot stickers ? They tastes ok, not great (luckily it was on the happy hour menu, 3 bucks each) We were still hungry and didn't want to leave to find another place so we continued ordering . She ordered the KG sliders and I ordered the sea bass sliders and a side of brussel sprouts. We got our drinks and lets just say we had mixed reviews . I ordered a new old fashioned , it had a perfect balance of alcohol to ice to sweet . I really enjoyed my drink, however, my sis did NOT enjoy her margarita flight AT ALL . They weren't frozen yet (they really shouldn't have offered it if it wasn't ready) each flavor was overly sweet or just plain nasty (the blue one) I also was alittle upset that I paid 20 bucks for these sea bass sliders which consisted of 2 roll with 2 slithers of fish topped with mushroom . Literally spent 20 bucks on a bite sized piece of fish and hard chips . She really didn't like her sliders either (but we killed those fries!) We decided to check this place out after walking around the Cherry Creek Mall. We were seated fairly quickly. Our servers were great and kept checking in on us! Overall, the atmosphere is lovely for a Saturday brunch. Bottomless mimosas are 19 dollars with a purchase of an entree from their brunch menu. I was a bit disappointed with their brunch menu. Most of their options were a little overpriced and sounds underwhelming. I did end up trying the Macadamia Nuts French Toast which was really good! Of course, it is a sweeter side on the menu so I wished they offered something with it that contrasted the flavors. There was some berries with it but mot enough. Their normal menu looks fantastic and definitely something I will check out next time! read more

Madison provided exceptional service. I ended up not liking the drink I ordered - just kinda not liked I didn't gag, but I didn't love it either. Madison traded it out for a Margarita instead- much better. I didn't expect her to exchange it, as I had already drank a good 1/4 of the drink- but she did. We ordered California roll, spicy lobster avocado toast and loco moco (or whatever they call it here, I think it was Kona Moco). All was good, my husband really loved the lobster toast. I visited Kona Grill for a party on their new covered patio. I have enjoyed coming here in the past. This particular trip was centered around the happy hour experience and trying a sampling of foods from their HH menu. The servers were wonderful in helping get me set up with a delicious sangria to start and shots for dessert. Their sangria might be a new fave of mine in town. It was smooth and fruity without being too sweet. Well I enjoyed most of the happy hour bites, there are some that I preferred over others. I really enjoyed the sliders and the Avocado Egg Rolls. The meatballs were also fantastic! However I think next time I will pass on some of the sushi, but that's more because I'm picky about sushi. I also recall really enjoying the flatbread too. Overall a really fun place to stop for a happy hour drink especially if you get the opportunity to sit on their covered patio. read more

We come here for my birthday dinner every year, and every year we get the best service ever. Scott, the manager was exceptional. The restaurant was busy but he made it a point to visit with each table a few times through the night. He found out it was my birthday and every time he walked by he would make sure I was happy! Our server was also super busy but she was amazing. My four stars are really for the service. We had appetizers and sushi. The calamari was sparse, could have been a bigger serving and neater on the plate. The sushi wasn't as good as it usually is, maybe since they were busy? I thought the rice was a bit hard and very cold. The fish was fresh though. They were so nice to give me a piece of cake and ice cream, that cake is worth the calories!! If you valet park make sure to have cash. It's $10 for 2 hours, then an extra $2.00 every hour after that. The valet guys are very nice also. read more

She was super friendly, matched our vibe, and was patient with us when we totally spilled our sake everywhere (sorry again!!!). There was a huge wedding party happening at the same time as our meal, with a busy dining room too. No items were missed, and Erica remembered everything we had requested without us having to ask again. I usually go to the Kona Grill in San Antonio. The food was exactly the same, typical chain restaurant fair. We knew what we were expecting, and got just that. The biggest differentiator was the people. I hate writing negative reviews. But after last night's dinner at Kona Grill, I feel an obligation to prevent others from making the mistake I made. Our waiter was pleasant and trying his best, but was clearly new to his job and unable to answer questions about the drink menu. He delivered a drink that was visually different from what was ordered, but didn't recognize the problem until he brought it to the table, and the recipient pointed it out. We ordered off the 5280 Restaurant Week menu. Two of the people in our group ordered the Picasso roll appetizer, and both commented that it was flavorless and drenched in a watery sauce that added nothing to the taste. They felt cheated. On the other hand, the Sweet and Bleu salad was very good. When the entrees arrived, the sirloins that two of our group ordered medium-rare were well done - easily spotted due to how shrunken they were by the time they reached our table. 15 minutes later, we got close-to-medium-rare steaks, but they were tasteless, as was the bearnaise sauce that accompanied them. The stir fry and salmon entrees were sub-par, according to the others at our table. To her credit, the manager came by and agreed to comp part of our bill. But when the bill was presented at the on-table terminal, the promised discount was only partly offered. Everyone at our table agreed that we wouldn't normally complain about that slight, but that the dinner was so bad that we should hold her to her original comp. Which she agreed to. The last straw was when we left the parking lot and our validated ticket only covered the first 3 hours of our stay. That might seem petty, but at multiple times during our meal, we tried to get the attention of wait staff to deliver the food and drinks we ordered, 20-30 minutes earlier. At a normal restaurant, we would have been in and out in 2 hours. Again, we ordered from the discounted 5280 Restaurant Week menu, so our expectations were measured. But at well over $50 per head - even after the manager's comp, we expected better. None of us would visit this restaurant again, at the price we paid. And at full menu prices, this restaurant is unthinkably overpriced, in our opinion. read more

Had a good time at brunch today! Didn't even know Kona Grill had brunch, but I'm so glad I stumbled upon it. I was expecting more Asian-inspired dishes based on my previous dinner experiences, but their brunch menu is more traditional American--and a pleasant surprise! We tried a variety of dishes: the brunch bowl, Big Island ribeye, Kona loco, and a selection of desserts, along with some beverages. Here's the lowdown: Brunch Bowl: It's a bowl of fresh fruit with whipped cream and caramel. Tasty, fresh, but not much else to say about this one. Sad we missed out on the shortbread that came with it because they were out. Big Island Ribeye:As a steak lover, I had to get this. At $44, it's a bit pricey for brunch, but it met my expectations and was cooked perfectly. Kona Loco: This was my favorite main dish. It's got that Hawaiian flair with a hamburger patty, runny egg, rice, and gravy. My only complaint? I wanted more gravy! Desserts: We indulged in the double stack brownie, carrot cake, and cheesecake. The cheesecake was the winner--so creamy and soft. The carrot cake was massive with three layers and delicious cream cheese frosting. Don't miss out on their bottomless mimosa for $19. The watermelon mimosa is a refreshing twist on the traditional OJ version. We sat on the patio, which was a bit too warm even with the ceiling fans. They eventually opened the large windows, and a nice breeze came through--wish they did this sooner! The patio is a great spot for people-watching. One downside is the parking situation. You have to pay either at the mall parking or valet (not sure if they validate). Service was great, though. The staff was attentive and friendly.
