I am honestly embarrassed to give a place that exclusively sells doughnuts AND has a drive-thru five stars but these are some magnificent doughy delights. Leaving the grubbiness of the airport only to see the adorable retro sign that proclaims Krispy Kreme was truly an "OMG" moment since I've only heard of their reputation of having some of the best doughnuts around. Any fan of retro American design will be goo over the place since it's like walking into a Krispy Kreme of the 1950s. It's also very pristinely clean. It was practically glistening which was truly impressive for the type of person who likes to look at a restaurants floors to gauge their standard of cleanliness. The real star is the doughnut making contraptions. It's magically hypnotical to watch the creation of a vast amounts of delicious doughnuts in the matter of a minute. The actual doughnuts are perfection. I'm not a fan of most of the doughnuts served on Oahu since they are always too dense. These are so light and fluffy that it's an instant mindgasm just thinking about it. The doughnut without any frosting or filling reminds me of what I would eat in Europe more than what you find in America. It turns out that the Krispy Kreme recipe is of French origin. The various frostings and fillings are definitely very American. Certain ones are more sophisticated in taste while some are the standard American sugariness you'd expect. The cake doughnuts are sinfully decadent. A must try. The older ladies who work there are very sweet, friendly and patient. They do a more than adequate job but how can you really screw up something that makes and sells itself. This location is convenient if you're buying some before heading to the airport because it located right outside of Kahalui airport. The service we experienced was horrible. Victoria was helping us, and she didn't smile at all. In fact she looked irritated when we were asking questions. She didn't come off friendly. I think she should work in the back with the fryer than in the front assisting customers. Management there should better train their workers on customer service, or make a better assessment of their workers' strengths and weaknesses. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I live on Oahu and this is my first time to Maui and I was excited to buy some donuts and bring them back home with me to my family. However I discovered that they RAN OUT OF DONUTS at 6:45PM. Being that they close at 8PM, you would think they would have produced more donuts, but instead they locked their doors and turned potential customer away. I observed around 8 other people attempt to go into the store but also was disappointed to learn they locked their doors early. Unacceptable if you ask me. Staff really needs to figure out a way to make it so you don't have to manually enter credit card on right side. If you ask to move to the other line where the cards work, then the staff they will shame you and refuse to enter your phone number here, so that you don't get a guest survey. SUPER LAZY staff at checkout (not making and filling donuts--that staff is great!!). Please note that guest surveys are inflated by only giving them to a subset of customers. They allow dogs without service documents in the place that are licking people including me---ICK!, I'm allergic but they don't give a care!! Something needs to change about the management of this place. The donuts are good, but the customer service, register, dog policy, and general management of the place needs to be changed. I would suggest hiring a new general manager. Also, the parking lot is incredibly packed, and is very hard to get through. Of course, I got me a few of their Original Glazed donuts. These melt in your mouth goodies are consistently yummy in all the Krispy Kreme locations I have stopped at. Not as crazy about some of their other donuts. Maple Glaze and Old Fashion donut were just okay. I did have a Cinnamon Malasada here. It was yummy. Just got off the plane and headed straight to Krispy Kreme for our fix of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. These soft pillowy morsels of sugar goodness can't be beat. We rented a car from Advantage and the battery died on us. AAA was going to take three hours and advantage was no help because we didn't get the "roadside assistance" insurance. Lo and behold, Gino, the store manager, had a battery pack and helped us jump our car. He saved the day. He and Krispy Kreme are awesome. read more

I'm usually not always excited when coming to a doughnut shop but when it comes to Krispy Kreme and being the only one in Hawaii then it just makes it a little more special then any other doughnut shops. When coming in the first thing you'll see is their doughnut machine do its thing carrying the doughnuts through its conveyor belt up and down and into the oil, flips it for an even cooked sides and then glazing the doughnut. Just seeing this make me feel like a little kid for some reason with amazement seeing the whole process behind the window makes it kinda cool to witness. At the end of the process after being cooked you'll see them picking up the doughnuts and either they put'em into trays or into the to go box when you order them. They also have other specially made doughnuts already out on display. The employees are always courteous, the place is clean as well and the prices are reasonable. I recommend checking this place out if you love doughnuts and if not it is always cool to see how they are made. read more

Of course the donuts were excellent and so was the coffee but a few things did bother me though. When I ordered my donuts, counter person that assisted me started coughing openly over the open display case and after he put my items into the paper bag he clearly just tossed my donuts on the counter. Hit up the Krispy Kreme's drive thru after flying into Kahului with my BF. Well heck we don't have this on Oahu so we had to have a heart attack with a hole right? Unfortunately for us the neon fresh hot Krispy Kreme sign was not lit up and my BF was dismayed when the lady told him that they didn't make chocolate flings anymore. So sad, too bad! My club for school has been dedicated to Krispy Kreme for our fundraisers. Thanks to them, we were able to subsidize a good chunk of our cost to Maui. We were absolutely sick of their original glaze donuts since we sold them so often and all of us at least had a box sitting at home for a week during our fundraiser period. To my coworkers and friends, I was known as the Krispy Kreme Lady for a while since I'm always trying to hustle everyone to buy a box. There is something magical when you see a box emblazoned with the words "Krispy Kreme." Now, I am not implying that it is the greatest doughnut ever made, nor am I implying that they are mind blowing amazing that they are worth a 20 minute airplane ride.
