Really disappointed in my order today. We ordered online for pick up and half the order was incorrect and under seasoned... and for the price ... I would not recommend this restaurant. Most upset because the "shrimp cocktail" from the online order site made me believe I was getting a fried shrimp dish with a dipping sauce, but I received a cold wet tomato juice "shrimp cocktail soup". Wouldn't have even been that mad if the flavors were there but it was more watery sweet ketchup flavor than savory cocktail sauce. Portions are more than enough, pricing is comparable to other Mexican style restaurants but the quality and taste of the food is better than most. If you want Mexican Food, go to Taco Bell. This place serves (and serve is a stretch) the worst Mexican food I've ever had. BLAND and COLD and No flavor. To top off Father's Day, they over charged us for EVERY item on our bill!! We brought it to their attention, and they couldn't explain why after three attempts.... And the manager, Nacho, tossed a dollar at my wife from the register to somehow compensate. Don't waste your money.... I am really disappointed in the service we received today. We are frequent customers and never had an issue before. While eating a taco, I came across a decent sized, round-ish black piece of solid plastic in my meat. I told our waitress, Dayan. She took the piece and said she would discount my meal. About 5 minutes later, she asked me if I would like new food. She did not clarify that it was one or the other (discount or new food). I said sure, so she brought it out & I boxed it up right away. When we received our receipts, I noticed my meal was not discounted. When she came to collect payment, it was brought to her attention that the meal was not discounted. Dayan responded rudely, "Excuse me, you think the food should be discounted after she ate it?". When I came across the plastic in my taco, I was on my last bite of my second taco. I did not eat my last taco, but finished the last few bites of rice that was left as I could see that it was safe to eat. She argued before taking the receipt back to give a discount. About 5 minutes later, she returned, slapping the receipt down on the table saying "I discount" and walked away. Dayan only gave a $1 discount. Well as a Hispanic family we always hesitate trying someplace new for Mexican tonight was no different. Our server (Ignacio )was the first red flag to leave but we stuck it out. Despite telling him multiple times my kids don't speak Spanish he kept speaking to them in Spanish when my husband and I would remind him he would shush us and rudely direct our children. This photo was the Gordita my husband ordered. Thankfully he ordered another meal but come on. My taco tortilla tasted raw and by the time we finally got our salsa all our food was cold. Listen it doesn't take much to keep customers in a Mexican restaurant. We will eat on the floor with no decor and pay good for great authentic food and even mediocre service. We will drive any lengths to get there also. When we saw the multitudes of television and no Mexican customers I wanted to leave but my husband didn't want to be rude. The televisions everywhere even in the dining area was distracting and if I wanted that would go to Buffalo Wild Wings. The hostesses were nice. The decor beautiful but the attempt to be a sports bar and low quality food assured me we will never go back. Very disappointed and unfortunately will never be back. Don't forget where you come from. The right people will come and the money will flow. Don't cater to the wrong crowd. For the price and quality I wish we chose Qdoba, TacoBell or Chipotle and that's sad for me to say. Absolutely fantastic place to grab some quality Mexican food in the area. I had the Tacos tinga, and the chicken was great. They have a house made salsa picosa that's awesome, and a house habanero salsa that is extremely spicy if you're down for some danger. The table tortilla chips seem to be white corn tortilla and are served with a great salsa and pico de Gallo. The food is great, but the star of the show is the michelada. I drink a lot of micheladas all over the country, but the ones here are special. Spicy and full of flavor, but balanced. Try one with Budweiser. Prices were slightly above average for what I'm used to, but the portions were filling. The atmosphere is great and the service was excellent. Hard to find good Mexican food in the north, but La Cabana exceded my expectations. I can't wait to come back! read more

There is no place to leave a review about LaCabanas associated Grocery store and this is about that. Deli department a complete disaster. Empty meat displays. Tamales only thing ready to go along with tortilla soup. Obviously not the owners wife making the tamales anymore. Everywhere. Every shelf messed up if there was product, and there wasn't much Boxes in every isle. AND finally after driving back home, 17 mile one way, we found out LACABANA, ripped us off for a Deli charge of $4.50 for something we didn't even buy and overs charged us for 3 extra tamales (charged for 27, but on bought 24 @ $1.69 ea.) We have supported LaCabana before covid, during covid. Written in their defense of other poor reviews, but ripping off the elderly on fixed income. Pretty sure there a special place in Hades for people like this. Done with LaCabana and Matteo's. Oh elcheapo. Your lousy looking wall stickers are falling off and further cheapen your over prices menu. read more

The website indicates that they have online ordering, but I'm guessing West Bend didn't have it set up which is disappointing, but calling it in was NBD. The only complaint I had regarding the food was that it needed salt. Everyone was happy with their choice (we ordered 9 different entrees). I'll definitely order again and I'm excited to check it out in person once the world is back to normal :). read more

Great food but the kitchen seems to be working out some kinks. The menu is very big and they have some interesting specials. We made a few adjustments to our order (added jalapeños, onion, and tomato) but nothing was included. We ordered fries and cheese sauce instead of beans/rice but got beans/rice. We were very happy with the jalapeño appetizer and thought the dipping sauce was to die for. It had enough spice to compliment the jalapeños but not too much overpower them. My pork drunken tacos were excellent! I highly recommend. The chorizo enchiladas were basic, tasty but average. We couldn't see the green sauce but there was a little kick to them so we assume it was there somewhere. I'd like to try more of their specials because I think this is where the kitchen shines. We plan to try them again in a few months after they have things flushed out. read more

This place is AMAZING!! I used to live in Denver, CO and local, independently Mexican food restaurants were EVERYWHERE, with great food. (I don't even think Taco Bell existed there). Since moving back to Wisconsin, I've MISSED really GOOD Mexican food for so long!! Another Mexican restaurant had opened a few years ago, and it was really good for about the first 6 months, I was so happy to finally have good Mexican food again!! But, it very quickly bit the dust. When La Cabana just opened earlier this year, my hopes were up again. I took my son there for lunch the first time I went and it was AMAZING!!! Great service, great food, super clean and everything made from SCRATCH (you CAN tell the difference!!) just awesome!! I've since gone back for carry out and to dine alone since the covid. They socially distance, wear facemasks (except for perhaps the one male staff member walking through the empty restaurant while I happened to be dining), it's very clean and the food is still amazing!! So many new restaurants were kicked in the butt by the pandemic, but I sincerely hope that others order carry out or perhaps dine in this fantastic Mexican restaurant we finally have here in West Bend!! I would have given this a restaurant a 4 or 5 star last spring when I came. I have usually loved my experiences here. But this time we waited like 45 min and our burritos came lukewarm the cheese on the refried beans wasn't even melted...it was so disappointing. I asked for it to be warmed up cause usually the burritos should come hot right? Then when she brought it back it was barely warmer. I asked for it to be warmed up a 3rd time and it was at least hot but the insides were dry at this point and the sauce on the outside was barely there....my husband had to turn his food in too...won't be coming back unless we hear things turning around. Was there last night. Never again! Poor service waited over an hour for a burrito and nachos. My girlfriend (who has diabetes) had told the waitress to hold the jalapenos. But when they came peppers all over them. We said to cancel the order, but she brought a new plate out without the peppers on. The experience was great. Server was attentive and the food came out quickly. My carnita tacos were as average as it gets but we're acceptable. The beans and rice are super plain - I'd suggest trying the charros as a first timer. I've not had them but they gotta be better. I'm not from the area but there are taco trucks in Milwaukee that destroy this place for food quantity, taste, and so on. I've left a three star as I feel like that is an average rating and they were rather average for Mexican food. In the area I didn't see tons of options and maybe that's their appeal. I stopped in for a light lunch today And was very impressed with the ambience, service, and quality of food at a very fair price. I had to Chile Relleno, Chicken taco and steak taco. The server immediately greeted me and brought chips and two salsas. The hotter salsa had much more flavor it was delicious but I would have preferred it blended like the mild salsa. All of the food was cooked to perfection, arrived quickly, and was prepared exactly as requested ( a beautiful thing for Picky personal requesters). Our waitress had a great personality And was very attentive without being overwhelming. I am mediately noticed that everything was neat orderly and definitely showed pride of ownership And management. First time here. Very surprised how good the food was. We were there for a funeral dinner, and food was served buffet style. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. Great new restaurant! We ordered takeout of a steak taco dinner, shredded beef enchiladas, chicken chimichangas, shrimp burrito santa, and pescado tacos. We wanted to try a variety of entrees with different meat options to see what we liked best. Every entree was delicious! We all sampled each option and loved them all. Next time we will dine in so we can try some of their drinks. I would highly recommend this to someone looking for a satisfying Mexican meal at a reasonable price. Had high hopes but was very disappointed. Waitress did not know the drink menu or menu very well. Drinks came out with barely any ice in them and the alcohol in them were lacking. I ordered shredded chicken taco salad and my chicken was substituted with grilled chicken (which I hate) without being asked. When I said something to the waitress she said she would check. Five minutes goes by with no answer from waitress. When she finally came to the table I asked her about it again she stated she thinks they ran out of shredded chicken but the cook was checking. I've been here twice since it opened. Very nice staff and atmosphere. I like the food; I feel it is a titch too pricey compared to other mexi places in town. The first time we came we were not offered chips and salsa which seemed weird, but we didn't ask either. The next time we came I ordered the vegetarian avocado tostadas. I was given tostadas with no avocado but substituted with BROCCOLI! Broccoli is not my fave vegetable, however, it did taste alright - BUT! I think it would have been nice had the waitstaff told me 'hey we're out of avocado, would you like broccoli instead?' (I assume they were out.) In which case I would have gotten something different. My husband's meal was missing the guacamole too. At the very least a small credit or free drink for the lack of avocado in our meals would have been nice! At 5:45 pm I wandered in with two friends on a Friday night waiting for 8 of my friends to meet us at the restaurant. As we got there the restaurant was already busy and full so the hostess informed me that there would be a 20 minute wait. So as soon as my friends arrived we got a few drinks and mingled. 30 minutes later my buzzer when off and I approached the waiter he took me to a booth thinking that there was only 4 of us. I approached the hostess and expressed to her that it was mentioned in the beginning that there was 11 of us to be seated. She apologized and told us there was an additional 20 minute wait which led to 30 minutes. Finally, got seated and waited an additional 30 minutes to get water, drinks and our food ordered. During the wait we kept getting bowls of tostadas and I finally asked the waitress when will we be getting our food and she said, "20 minute" wait. AGAIN! another wait. "So as you can see we waited a total of an 1hr and 40 minutes. So while we waited for the last 20 minutes to get our food I approached the hostess who apparently was also the manager she was standing by her friends laughing and enjoying her tostadas when she should've been walking around asking her customers if anything was needed or if any assistance was needed from her co-workers. Unfortunately, the care was not there. When we finally received our food it was "cold".. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Waitress still got a 18% tip off our table, but did she deserve it "no" because she never once cared to apologize for the wait or offered anything besides tostadas to satisfy the customers that waited 2 hours.
