This is the second review as the previous review was deleted. When honest reviews whether 1 or 5 stars are posted by diners and then deleted by who knows who, it makes me question this process and it's INTEGRITY! La ong is the latest restaurant on South Santa Monica Bl next to Le Pain Quotidien and across from Sprinkles. Thai food restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Their Yelp pages says they check vaccination proof but that didn't happen when I was there. The staff doesn't wear face masks and don't social distance when seating diners. When I was there earlier this week, I was the only diner inside in an empty restaurant with several available seats. After I took pics of the food, and just before eating, new diners walked inside and their vaccination proof were NOT checked. Of all the available seating, the hostess sits them behind Me. What made it worse was these diners were coughing audibly with phlegm and every staff member and myself heard and witnessed this. I was so uncomfortable and disgusted, I was NOT able to eat my meal. I immediately had everything boxed and paid asap. The entire staff came to my table asking me why I was leaving and why I didn't eat. I covered my face with the face mask and gestured the coughing diners behind me was not good situation. But the staff was oblivious or just didn't understand. I was furious that the staff had no common sense to space people out and maybe even ask those coughing diners to sit outside. We are not in the clear with COVID and the staff should practice health and safety for diners and themselves. Also, the staff seems to have a language barrier issue as they did not follow my request about some dishes and so if you have allergies or requests omission of certain ingredients, I would beware, as your request will probably not be done. The papaya salad was descent but the papaya ribbons could have been thinner and not so thick, because who wants to being laboring chewing a salad. The pad thai noodles sadly were all stuck together, and I couldn't do the noodle pull pic because the noodles were stuck in a gluten out lump. The sea bass dish, I requested the fish, the rice and the curry sauce all separately in separate dishes, my request was not honored. I asked the waitress and she was dumbfounded. I was excited to try this thai food but did want to take a chance getting sick as my food was exposed to the coughing diners right behind me. The staff were cordial, nice and attentive but didn't fully comprehend and clearly there was a language barrier issue. The restaurant space is cool with exposed brick walls and cement floors, simple decor. The menu has very interesting usual thai offerings which are NOT competitive with thai restaurants in Beverly Hills. I'm a hugh Thai food fan, have traveled to Thailand and specially love Phuket, where the foods are aromatic, fresh and so delicious, I often compare other thai dishes to those tastes and experience. I always want to support new businesses especially in my 90210 neighborhood, but when there are major errors, I will reveal that in my reviews. It's a shame my previous review was deleted, can anyone rely on this platform for honest reviews...let's see whether this review sticks. The restaurant should take heed of this review as to not repeat their errors and perhaps you, a new diner can have a better dining experience. The complexity and nuances of the flavors in all the dishes we had was exceptional. The presentation and aesthetic of each dish was also unique. The noodle rolls were easily the best spring rolls I've ever had - so many different flavors that blended together harmoniously from the piquant dipping sauce all around to the crunchy fried garlic on top. The green curry had these elegantly tied vermicelli noodles on the side. The ka soi beef was tender and succulent. Excellent service and intimate atmosphere. read more

We were seated right away on a rare rainy day in LA in November. Service was great. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant feels like a fusion upscale Thai place with cozy seating and cool ambiance. We ordered: Crispy pork with watercress: nicely fried pork! Crunchy and flavorful. It reminded me of crispy pata (a Filipino dish) Green chicken curry: sauce is a bit thinner than expected. It goes well with white rice. Thai wings: our favorite because they are crispy and juicy. Great addition to the Beverly Hills dining scene, and some of the best "nouveau" Thai food I've had anywhere. All of the menu items we tried were very unique, and not what you would find at most Thai restaurants. Our favorite was the Tom Yum Rice. We started with the Mhee Krob which was tofu with vermicelli noodles, and is the only dish we wouldn't order again. We didn't realize that the noodles were fried, although they appeared to be air fried as they weren't oily. Just not my thing. From the outside the restaurant appeared to be more casual, but the ambiance inside is very upscale and beautiful. The service was very good and the owner stopped by several times to check on us and chat. She explained that several of the menu items were her grandmother's recipes. read more

Parking: Plenty of parking garages that have free first hour or two (there's free two hours for the structure on Bedford). Street parking you would have to be lucky for but not a far walk from the structure (~2-3 mins) Price: Standard pricing for Thai food in LA. Portion size is good Food: Ordered the Pad See Ew Plate and Crispy Pork Belly. Both were delicious and I would definitely get again! Service: Attentive. We were seated right away during lunch hours and they would check-in every so often if the table was doing okay. The kra pow is delicious, I recommend getting it with ground chicken. The curry is great as well but definitely on the sweeter side. I think it's because of thr coconut milk they use. So incredibly delicious! If you love Thai food, then hold on tight..... because you're in for a ride! The burst of flavors is shockingly good, and not the typical flavors you expect but always a kick. Each dish is curated to perfection. One of the most frivolous rob eyes in town with a Thai twist! Everything I have tried is finger- lickin good! The service is great, super attentive and care about each tables experience. Ambiance is nice, somewhat informal. Dim lights, and cozy. Ooo wow this spot is fire Let's get straight to it: try to get a reservation or walk in early. I can imagine the place gets busy on certain nights. We walked in and sat at the bar. First order the chicharrón aka crispy pork belly with the side of garlic sauce. It was tender. Crispy and perfect all around. Next. Refresh your pallet with the Herbacious salad. With prawns. Soooo goood the flavors of the salad with prawns and sauce. We cleaned off the plate. Follow it up with a Tom kha soup (coconut soup) and add shrimp. The flavors are not overwhelming or unnecessarily spicy. It hit the spot how balanced the flavors were. As always I over did the order and added the stir fried cabbage. Guess what? It was delicious. Dessert : mango sticky rice. Oh man. I don't care for this dessert anywhere else but it was real balanced and tasty. Server checked on us regularly and the inside was nice clean quaint and appropriate for a date or just a solo lunch adventure. The ambiance is nice. It can definitely be regarded as the top level I have eaten. First of all, its portion is the largest I have ever eaten. The glutinous rice is warm and very soft, and it feels like it melts in the mouth. The mango on top is very sweet and ripe, and it is invincible with the slightly salty coconut milk and the cold coconut ice cream. 2Thai Wings This is also super delicious! recommend! The fried chicken wings are very thin, wrapped in Thai sweet and spicy sauce, crispy and crispy, the meat is very tender and juicy, super love it 3Crab Fried Rice Super fragrant, the rice grains are distinct, but soft and easy to eat, and the overall taste is relatively light. It is mainly the aroma of fried rice and the umami taste of crab meat. The egg on it is particularly delicious and super tender. 4Pad Thai This is different from the padthai I have eaten elsewhere. Its noodle taste is particularly elastic, not the kind that is easy to bite. I like it very much, the taste is not too sweet 5Chicken Satay I really like this It's not a chicken skewer, it's like a cut chicken chop. I love Thai food so much, and La ong looked really promising. My friend and I stopped by late on a Sunday night after browsing around for places to eat in the area, and I'm so grateful we found this spot :'). A lot of breadth in their menu offerings and everything sounded really tasty. We ended up getting the Herbaceous Chili Prawns, the Pad See Ew and the Green Curry. The Chili Prawns were so good -- light and flavorful. The Pad See Ew was also really solid and had that classic, smokey wok-fired flavor to them. I did like the Green Curry too, though I wished that it came with rice instead of the vermicelli noodles. Big rice gal here. Our server was attentive and nice. They raved about the Sea Bass Curry, which we wanted to try but they sold out of that night -- so looks like we'll have to come back for that one. Food: Pad See Ew and fried chicken are pretty good 4.5/5. Fried chicken is similar to Korean fried chicken (very crunchy outside but inside it's a little dry). Pad See ew tastes really soft and flavorful. Probably my favorite out the 3 items I got today. The Tom yum soup is quite unique maybe 4/5 and I'm just not that used to the taste of having so many items inside. Service: It really depends on who your server is. The girl with glasses that smiles a lot is very friendly and helpful. When the other table asked for togo box, she event packed for them. I wish all my tips went to her. Her service is 10/10. On the other hand there's another girl that is relatively taller basically ignored my request. I waited for at least 15mins for a togo bag and check. I asked her 2 times and all I got from her was togo containers. She has no emotion on her face and I wish if she doesn't want to help she can at least tell us to call someone else. :(( read more

Best upscale authentic thai food in West LA (if you're willing to stretch your wallet a bit)! We went to La ong for a birthday dinner and ordered a whole shareable spread of noodle dishes, soup, cocktails, and mango sticky rice! The spot was dimly lit with nice music, as well as impeccable service. The waiters didn't hesitate to breakdown the dishes and story behind them. My favorite dish was definitely the garlic noodles - buttery, sweet, salty goodness! A bonus was the delicious lychee cocktail as recommended by the waiter. Will come back for more :) read more

#Racism This review is for my May 7 2023 visit at the restaurant. We had a reservation at 5:30, and there were some customers eating when we arrived. We are a party of two, and there were a couple empty small tables out there, but we were seated at the very end of the restaurant, where has four tables (all empty) in a small area. We didn't have any problems sitting in that table/area initially, but it surprised us when everyone else seated in that small area were Chinese, (We are Chinese as well.) After we finished our meal, and when we left, we noticed everyone else seating at the outside area are non-Asian. It is disgusting especially when we are dining at an Asian restaurant. I don't know if this is just a host issue or that's the restaurant policy. Hope the management team can look into this. Food wise - recommend Tom Yum Rice - A really special dish. read more

A great new addition to the Bev. Hills food scene. Located very near the crowd favorite Crustacean, this adds to the Asian offerings in the area. The food is fairly authentic though the flavors are toned down a bit from the traditional Thai level of spices for a more westernized taste. The service is excellent whether ordering for take out or by phone. Have not had a chance to dine in yet as haven't been able to take a long lunch when working in the area. The decor in the restaurant is pleasant and gives a nice warm vibe in the restaurant while you dine. Have only been able to try a few things on the menu and looking forward to trying more. read more

A well deserved restaurant to belong in Beverly Hills but needs the local support! It is not like the typical glam spots that you would expect from this neighborhood. Although it is Thai food, it is still cooked with an elevated flare so it's a bit pricier than your Thai town spots, but totally worth it given portions are large as well. I came here on recommendation by rockstar eaters YouTube video. I was not disappointed. We got a lot of items that included the vegetable spring rolls, brussels sprouts, kao soi noodle, chili prawns, salmon custard, and the Tom Yum fried rice. The spring rolls were huge and so yet light and refreshing. The peanut sauce was so good as well. Would love it on the side rather than a base sauce though because easier to dunk it. 5/5 Brussels sprouts were fried with a sweet chili sauce with a fried egg. Nothing mind blowing but good nonetheless. 4.5/5 Kao Soi Beef Noodle: so good as well, curry was sweet and a nice contrast to our other dishes, the beef was wonderfully tender as well, great portion to share 5/5 Chili prawns: just wowwwww, my groups favorite. The prawns were huge and nicely grilled and cooked. Then tossed with Thai herbs and greens for a nice refreshing contrast to the chili. 10/5 Salmon Custard: the most average dish we had, would not recommend, simply tasted like a baked salmon with a steamed egg base. Nothing mind blowing. 3/5 Tom Yum fried rice: their bestseller, the seafood was great, the overall texture was good as well, however I was a little disappointed that the tum yum flavor was actually kinda subdued. Maybe i was just expecting more of a strong Tom yum but it was a more mild flavor profile than I was expecting. 3.5/5 Overall, for the price in the area, portions, quality, despite just one or two nitpicky things, would say this place is def a repeat dining place for me. We had enough leftover for two lunch portions. Cost for all of this was $160ish including tip which is pretty damn good for the location and quality. I would say they are in the same tier as anajak Thai. read more
