Chicken Philly Cheesesteak
Rebecca C.

Now I've said it before, I am PICKY when it comes to my subs but baby this place right here, on point!! I typically stick with Baldinos because they never do me wrong but a coworker was treating me to lunch and I didn't want to be too much so I agreed to Larry's. I am so glad I did it. This sub was so freaking good. A lot of sub places like to go light on the toppings but not Larry's. Personally, I like heavy lettuce & onions on my subs but for some reason the "artisanal" sub planes give the bare minimum. I expect light meat but lettuce is like .10¢ for the head. Don't do me like that I ordered the chicken Philly and it was delicious! I ate my entire sub & the chips which my tummy regretted afterwards because I was STUFFED, but it was so good I couldn't stop. I skipped on the Italian dressing only because I don't like soggy bread and I feel like ordering a sub with oil & vinegar and Italian dressing does just that. Clearly I'm a huge fan of this place. So check them out. You won't be disappointed. Great prices & even better food. Plenty of options for everyone. Apparently they even have lunch specials so ask about that before ordering.

The owner was so amazing to us during our visit! The food was all delicious! We even got some samples and a great chocolate chip cookie that my son ate so fast he barely shared! We tried the tuna chicken salad and egg salad all were great. The sandwiches we made quick and were fresh and flavorful we will be back! Not shown cookie or the Kong club as that was a video! You can see our pics on Instagram @wts.whatthesouth Can't wait to go back!

Sub, all bread and no meat.

Subs are 90% bread with very little meat. The Ultimate ended up being 3 thin slices of meat. That's it. Better off at Jersey Mikes in my opinion.

Sandwiches are large and fresh meats. Soooo good.

Don't be fooled by the outside little quaint place. This place is a hidden gem. Owner is super friendly and personable. He aims to satisfy all his customer. Amazing customer service. Food is delicious and filling. You won't be disappointed. We were creative and it was worth it.

First timer and we were treated to a taste of many of the meats. All sample bites were fantastic- turkey, ham, meatballs, roast beef and chicken salad. Subs were the best ever. Fresh buns, great toppings and a master sandwich maker! Loved my chicken salad! Very clean inside and an owner who takes pride in his shop. Wish we lived here! Definitely will be back!

Freshly landed here from Texas to discover this lil gem and quickly becoming our favorite sandwich shop. Wife and i are already eager to try other items on the menu like the Minestrone ot Tomato basil soup. I had the meatball twice now, so I'll take my wife's suggestion and go for the Philly Chees steak next.

My daughter suggested we head to Starland Yard to celebrate her graduation from college. Starland is a neat spot with several stationary restaurants and a few food trucks that roll in...different ones every day. We chose the Naked Dog. Man...it was really worth it. For some, a $12 hot dog might seem steep. It was a gourmet dog and It came with fries, so I thought that was fair. My dog was perfect. Fresh bread...incredible toppings and ample portions. The fries on the side were seasoned very well also. It was a great hot dog meal. The rest of our party had other menu items from Dog: 1) Cheese fries - highly rated 2) Loaded fries--- VERY highly rated 3) cheeseburger - highly rated (it looked incredible) 4) a dog with jalapeños, etc. - very highly rated I have chased good hot dogs all over America and as far as Switzerland. The naked dog was a top 5 experience. When in Savannah, they are worth finding--- I know I will find them again...

During the COVID-19 quarantine we have had several local food trucks from the area rotate for lunch/dinner during the week. I am so sad I only made it to The Naked Dog once before I moved back north. I am a hot dog lover, so imagine my difficulty in not ordering every variation from the menu! My husband and I decided on a few to split (not knowing their size): a classic Naked dog with classic toppings (ketchup, mustard, relish); a slaw dog; a Reuben dog; and a Chicago dog. If I could be speechless in a written Yelp review, I'd leave it at that. The dogs were jumbo sized, toppings were plentiful, tasty and temperature just right. The slaw dog was my absolute favorite - the cole slaw had the perfect consistency and was simple enough to not overpower the dog itself. The Reuben was a legit sandwich on a burger, pastrami and all. The dressing was perfect. The Chicago was classic and wonderful, complete with the unique green Chicago relish. Last but not least, smoothies! What better pair than a smoothie and a dog? We tried peach and strawberry. They were fruity, had chunks of real fruit and were not overly sweet. Just amazing! Y'all, please go have a hotdog or three on my behalf until I'm able to return to Savannah again!

We ordered an Originals Combo, a Beef Brisket combo, a Little Scrappy Combo and the John Lee Hooker. As I am not a big eater, I just took a bite of everyone's meal and I cannot even explain how good each and every bite was. Out of the sandwiches we had, I think my favorite was the brisket. It was so tender and so delicious. The staff was amazing too. Since we were newbies, we were taking forever to decide what we wanted; they were so patient and walked us through the menu and made great suggestions. We loved looking at the pictures on the wall while we waited for our food and we really enjoyed eating outside on the cute little patio!

Lots of parking and a cute outdoor patio when the weather is nice too.

We will definitely be coming here again, loved the food! We had the small size onion rings, I can't remember what they call it, but definitely a small serving. The sandwiches were big though. I had the beef brisket sandwich with country gravy and I cannot rave over it enough! A very substantial sandwich, I couldn't finish mine. He had the Buffalo chicken sandwich, also wonderful. Upon entry, there was a bar and it was very crowded and a little loud. But everyone was super friendly (and respectful) and seemed to be having an awesome time. (Might have stopped in if the entire family hadn't been with me!) A short walk down the hall was Betty Bombers...all real American food. The artwork was awesome, especially since both of my grandfathers were in WWII, and some of it looked familiar. The table ordered everything from salads, to a HUMUNGOUS hotdog for the kid (he originally wanted two and the waitress told him to start with one LOL), cheeseburgers, a pastrami sandwich, and a ration size portion of steak and cheese fries for me. I really liked how they offered smaller portions for a lot of their items, especially since we had a huge lunch. Everyone's food came out but mine. When I pointed it out to the waiter (who didn't take our order), he went to check and said it was his mistake and he would bring it out shortly. It took less than five minutes to come out and he offered me a milkshake for the wait. I had already had Leopold's that day but my cousin hadn't so he got a Mint Chocolate Chip milkshake. He really liked it. All of the food was good. I wanted to point out that my steak and cheese fries said ribeye and queso in the description. Yes, that was probably ribeye (it was tender and delicious) and while it was technically queso, Cheez whiz would have been a more apt description. That's ok, because it was good. Overall, a wonderful experience. I really liked how the waiter took accountability and fixed it. Very much appreciated. I would 100% return.

I would have appreciated if the server would have let me know there was a charge for the ranch dressing she offered us, but other than that the food was great and the ranch was the best I ever had anywhere. We were hoping for peach cobbler but it wasn't the dessert available. We did have the best pecan pie I've ever had though so it all worked out. On this visit, I just explored the hot dog side of the house. I ordered the chili cheese hot dog and fries meal. The employee taking my order also appeared to be responsible for preparing the orders in the kitchen. My order took about twenty minutes to appear at my table after paying. The all-beef hot dog was hearty and filled me up. The French fries were a different type than I am used to receiving, but they were delicious. There is an electronic ax-throwing game in the restaurant, which was closed, so I did not experience that. Crave is located in the middle of what I call a SCAD block of dorms and classrooms. The iPhone GPS brought us to the back side of the building, but we eventually found the entrance across from the former Ghost Coast Distillery. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop inside (no background music). I was surprised to see an axe throwing lane! And a wall of beers on tap. There were few other patrons dining at the time. This is an order at the counter and they bring your food out joint. It took about 15-20 minutes to prepare our one to go meal. My husband ordered the pulled chicken sandwich, which came with fries and a choice of side. He opted for the coleslaw. They offered us a complimentary cookie which I enjoyed on the way out. The to go order was served in a paper box and a paper bag. No napkins or utensils were given (this is the new "green" initiative businesses are doing, which I appreciate). By the time we got home to eat, my husband said the sandwich was great but needed more sauce. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They mentioned there will be a grand opening party in coming days. I am glad to see this area of the historic district being built up with hot & new businesses!
