I LOVE Laurel Tavern. A good friend of mine and I meet here every week or two weeks for drinks and appetizers. It's full of not quite hipsters, not quite industry crowd folks. Casual place with good beer and good food ( We like the artichoke, fries, and cheese plate... order two beers and you have a nice casual dinner!) The bartenders are really nice, and it gets pretty crowded by the end of the night. The valet parking is a huge plus!! I like that I can come here and EASILY get a drink, sit down with my food, and enjoy my evening without feeling out of place or under dressed (like most bars on the OTHER side of the hill feel...) Its hard to find parking for this place, although there is valet right next door if you don't mind paying. Cool atmosphere. We had some snacks and decided to try french fries and the pretzel. Both very yummy and priced well. The drink selection was vast and they have fresh squeezed juices for their specialty drinks. Definitely a fan and would come back here again. read more

Just came back from Laurel Tavern and I must say that I will go back indeed. The Laurel Burger was better than I expected. I am a burger and beer snob and they past the test! They even have Pranqster and Arrogant Bastard on tap! Ez nice!! Wish they had some traditional belgian beers like Delirium or Chimay, just to switch it up a bit. Well deserved 5 stars- this place doesn't even need reviews, it's awesome- This is THE bar of Studio City- everyone's heard of it, everyone's been there, and everyone loved it. You can hang out there on a Saturday afternoon and enjoy the casual open window vibe of the bar, or on a PACKED Thursday night and bump shoulders w familiar studio city locals and new faces along w ur occassional celebrity! Most people who hang out at Laurel have their guards down, BC it's such a casual vibe, so it's pretty easy to make friends w the people sitting right next to you! The door man is SUPER nice and lends a helping hand when things get busy. The bartenders are awesome, some of which have been there for years, so it's def nice seeing the familiar faces! Antonio (sorry if I spelled it wrong!) is awesome - they all are- there's no attitude here, just good times and good people! The beer selection is fantastic! and the food? I don't think I've ever had one bad dish here- everything on their menu is amazing! my go to is usually the steak and fries, grilled cheese, or club sandwich - shishito peppers are great and anything on a skewer, and their hamburger is perfect if ur in the mood for one- Awesome place! Best bar in the valley! Servers, bartenders, and food are outstanding. Whether during the day or in the evening, this place is always a hit. I personally prefer it during the day when there's a bit less people. Great beer selection, plenty of top shelf whiskey to choose from, and food that rivals that of gourmet restaurants. I've had just about everything on the menu, and it's all delicious. The pork belly, in particular, is to die for. The staff here is very friendly, especially during the day shift, which is partially why I think they have so many repeat customers. I'd recommend this place to everyone. In almost all cases, I adore this place. Great drinks, great clientele, great atmosphere. However, tonight, on Friday night at 11pm, there were TWO bartenders for about 100 patrons. I waited 20 minutes to TRY to get a drink. I never managed to get a drink. I finally gave up. Hire more staff for major nights on weekends please. read more

The food is very good, fresh and great tasting, with an excellent presentation. Drinks are excellent, with a great beer menu. Eric behind the bar is knowledgable, always fast, friendly, and very efficient. Special mention though, goes to the doorman Sean. We (my wife and I) were dining outside one busy/cooler evening and Sean made it his business to check on our comfort. I really can't stand this place, and dread getting dragged here. Its a total pain to move because it is always so crowded (seems like its over-capacity pretty regularly). Seriously one of the best burgers I have had in recent memory, and that is saying a lot in the Los Angeles area. The pork skewers are a must try, the beet and burrata salad was excellent as well, even the steak fries with duck fat were stupendous, cleaned every plate we ordered. Service was a bit slow and they forgot my drink for a few minutes but it was a Monday, they were strangely busy, only two people were working and one of them seemed new and still in training, but she did make an excellent drink, and I can't be mad at them for having a small staff on a Monday. Laurel Tavern is the place... You know the type of place that just make you feel plain happy. It's a place that has great specialty beers and cocktails, amazing food, but also the atomshere and social orgy of Los Angeles' smartest, most talented, and most successful people. From the front street view, it looks like a regular bar with awesome wooden shades that open directly to the air. (It's great seeing that a nice breeze feels good when your drinking!) The doormen are very cool and helpful. That's the first thing I always notice about a place. Seriously folks, don't you hate the crazy doormen at all these other places? And for that, there goes the first star* When you first walk in you can tell that things are going to be fun. Although at capacity, it is still roomy enough to get around. Walking up to the bar you can see the chalkboards of gloriously named beers written with there respective price next to them. Don't know what you want? Just ask one of the bartenders, or even your fellow taverner! They were cool enough to talk to, so I got a California Telegraph White Ale on their recommendation. (I'm pretty sure that what it's called). Anyways, the beer ended up being great! After finishing that one, I had to try another style and brand. On another suggestion from a patron, who happened to be very fun to talk too, I got a pint of the Tangerine Wheat. Its was a genius beer as well. Great selection of beers! Second star.* Food. I wanted some, so it was back to the chalkboards I went. I ended up getting the Steak Fries and the Laurel Burger. Infrequently fries are huge and taste great. The burger, it's like a burger I once had at in high-end, New York City restaurant. That one cost me $45 bucks. The Laurel Burger was $8, and was better. Great food. Third star* The type of people that stand and sit around you seem entirely approachable. Most are with a group of friends. Some are alone. I found myself conversation with other crowds of strangers faster than I ever had before at bars. Either I just became alot better looking, or this place has cool, friendly people to be around. I am fonder of the ladder thought. Alone or with a group of friends, I found it to be a cool place to hang. Excellent enviornment! The thing I will always think of when I think of Laurel Tavern was those darn fantastical steak fries!! They were *muah* amazing! I mean, I'd go just for those damn fries. Other than that, the wine and beer selection was always above average. We used to often partake in the "Hollywood Blonde" beer, perhaps because we were all fair complected? I don't know. Anyway, the prices were steeper than I'd hoped, but the fries were great and the beverages were good. Laurel Tavern is an exceptional bar with good drinks and great food. While it isn't normal to order your food and drinks at the front of the bar, it is a system that I feel helps streamline efficiency and speed without sacrificing quality. For recommendations I suggest the seared steak salad, and if you are dining in with a friend, share their basil and heirloom tomato grilled cheese sandwich...simple, yet gorgeous! read more

My husband and I came here 12/31/13. This was the best place we ate at while visiting LA. My husband had the bistro burger with LT fries. He said it was one of the best burgers he has ever had. The bun was sweet tasting, the meat was cooked perfectly with a nice crispy outer layer. My husband hates lettuce on his burger, but he ate it with everything on it. The fries tasted great also, prefect seasoning on it. I had the smoked turkey club. It was delicious. There is a middle layer of bread in the center, making the sandwich really big. I took out the middle layer of bread on some of my sandwich, it was a lot of bread. The sandwich had a perfect ratio of meat, cheese and veggies. It wasn't overly drenched in aioli which to me is perfect. One of the best turkey clubs I've had. Bacon wasn't fatty and it was nicely cooked. I had the blackflower cocktail. It was pure alcohol and amazing. It was quit expensive, but you only need one bc it was very stong. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting LA or locals. It was a nice place to hang out, have a few drinks and watch some sports. read more

Good spot on Ventura to meet for a beer. The place is seat yourself, and order at the bar, so during peak hours it gets a bit disorganized.
