Really fun place to hang out with friends. The food is interesting-we had the Mini Croques & Burrata with Tomatoes. Both were good. I saw someone eating the Pork Belly Skewers-they looked interesting-maybe I'll try it next time. It was pretty crowded when we got there around 8pm on a Saturday night but it emptied out after the baseball game was over. Then it got crowded again...however, the best part was that it never got really hot with the crowd because they have these great windows in the front of the bar they open up and it lets a lot of cool air in! I hate sweating in crowded bars so this was a big plus. The bartenders were great even though it was pretty noisy & crowded. read more

Not awesome, but not bad either. If I were more of beer person, I would probably appreciate the different types of beers on tap. I ordered the Blue Bacon burger, only wishing I had tasted more blue than bacon. I like it here. The vibe is perfect for a bar on Ventura blvd in Studio City. Laid back crowd, pretty loud, lots of beer and of course the hard stuff too. The people here are mixed, but everyone mostly looked industry to me (editors, writers, musicians) with a blend of locals and regulars. Fun for groups that want to grab a drink together. So far, so good. I have been here only thrice, but the experiences were nothing to complain about. Food: I've ordered here every time & I was extremely satisfied with my order. The food came out fast & hot. I am a picky eater & unpleasant when left hungry, so those two qualities worked out perfect for a client like me. Drinks: I love that they carry local brews because I am such a supporter of buying local and supporting out own community. California could be it's own country, let's keep that up, right?! I have ordered beers during busy hours & forgotten what I ordered... Bless the bartender's heart; she knew exactly what I ordered & keep my palette on point without missing a beat. This is a great chill bar to come to with friends. There's a large beer selection and they also serve food. There are lots of small tables surrounding the place and a big rectangular table in the middle. Space can feel a bit cramped, but all in all, a cool bar! Laurel Tavern is a great neighborhood bar and grill that brings in lots of beautiful people. The tavern is a five minute walk from my apts so its my new bar of choice since moving up to Studio City in October. The atmosphere is loud like most bars but no one is rude, they all make sure you re taken care of before ordering themselves. The bartenders and waitstaff are all super friendly and helpful in serving up your ale and liquor needs for the night. They do a great job of keeping track of your tab and always watch for you the next time you're ready to order. The food is awesome you can choose from "healthy" options like arugula salad, artichokes and brochette, or just go for the grub and have the Laurel Burger, Marrow bones, or Butcher's platter. All of these options are Delicious and everything mixes together well with whatever you are drinking. They don't have deserts but they make up for it with a killer chocolate martini and other desert liquor choices. There is never a line for the bathrooms as far as I've seen and they are always pretty clean. The place is also good for game nights. They get pretty crowded every night but especially so if the Lakers are playing so if you are there for that or not be aware its going to most likely be standing room only. But its a comfortable enough room and crowd to enjoy yourself and what you came for/to do. A lot of people use it as a starting off point for their evenings so if you want a table its not too long of a wait cause most get a drink or two and then are off to the next event. Prices are reasonable and appropriate with the choices of beer, and food both substantial. If you live in the valley or are looking for a great place to hang away from sunset or Hollywood the Laurel Tavern is a great place to come have a few cold ones meet someone new or a friend and watch the hours slide by with ease. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was pretty sparsely occupied. The bar is big and open with beer and wine selections written in chalk on the wall. Bartenders will gladly give you a taste of any beer or wine you'd like! Their beer selection, from my one drink, was pretty great with a large range of options. Now I cannot rate the food because I did not have any food here, just beer and wine. BUT! I can rate the smells. Wow oh wow, the smells coming out of the kitchen were amazing. There was one point where my date and I stopped talking when a waitress walked by with a plateful of food. Pretty sure at some point we looked like little dogs waiting for a nibble from the table. I believe the majority of the yummy smells were coming from the large steak fries fried in duck fat. Yum. By the time I left at 6 the place was swarming with people itching to munch on fries and drink a cold beer, trying to enjoy the last few hours of the weekend. This gastropub is one of the bars I enjoy to be. I love the style, the vintage light bulbs, the way the bar looks. Food: So far so good! I haven't had anything from the menu that I did not like. My favorite and I definitely recommend is the pork belly skewers, this is what I fell in love with the first time I came here; the grilled artichoke is yummy, chorizo sliders were on point, and the fries are crispy packed with flavor. My only two not so serious issues and this never stopped me from going IS....it does get super crowded late at night and it is hard to get a seat and also it does get pretty loud. This is an interesting place. You order at the bar and they bring your food to your table, which you have to hunt, circle and grab as soon as you see one available. Its first grab, first seated, nothing to do with when you got there. The menu is fairly large for a gastropub, there should be something for everyone. My guest had the Burrata and Beet salad which she liked. I had the french dip, which I thought was sub-par. The meat was fairly tasteless, the horseradish sauce was bland and the a jus simply tasted warm. The beer and ale are served in a large glass, but probably should be at $7 a glass. I actually really like it here... The Laurel Tavern has a cool atmosphere. You enter into a very chic, simple interior. It consists of exposed brick and wooden tables/floors, chalkboards w/ beers and the menu written across it. You order at the bar, both food and beer, then grab a seat. They have both a great beer and food selection. I think the food is what makes this a place that I am inclined to return to over and over again. Simple plating and delicious combinations. We've been here a few times, and luckily it has never been crowded at all. I guess just be aware of the time and day you go... Naturally. One of my favorites is their mussels. I mean when I went with a friend of mine to meet up with some other buddies I walked right in, but my cohort was left outside, he was literally 30 seconds behind me. wtf? The door man was doing his job, but I think I slipped through. And after I got in it was as I tweeted "B to the W" with people. it didn't help that there was a table the length of the bar that ran right down the middle of the room! What I do give a strong star rating is the beer selection, microbrew invasion! with a variety of beers that rival it's food selection of specials, Laurel Tavern is a great place to drink. So overall 2 for decor/layout and 5 stars for the beer and food. Which makes it an even 3. I do look forward to coming here again, but only when the regulars come...which is around 4:30PM. I came here for dinner and a drink. The food was really good. I had a turkey club, and there aren't many ways to mess that up. It was odd that fries were extra, but whatever. It's a bit chaotic because I didn't notice a waiter. We had to go to the bar to place our food/drink order(s). Seating also can be a little tricky in this place. Went to Laurel Tavern with some friends last night and had a great time. Though the book-reading-bouncer made us wait a few minutes outside since he said the place was at capacity, there were benches to sit on, and big open windows looking into the bar. After about 10 minutes, we were let in, and joined our friends at a cozy table in the back. Nearly everyone was seated, which was nice, and it was a great casual yet cool place to catch up. The beer selection advertised on their blackboard menus was concise but impressive. I had a wonderfully delicious Long Coast Apricot Wheat beer -- very fruity and refreshing with a wonderful aroma. All my friends were clamoring to try it and were all impressed as well. We also shared some fries, which were a hit. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, and the beer and food were reasonably priced. It was nice to be able to easily get a table and not feel too cramped, too. 3 Stars The Laurel Tavern is another addition to the LA gastropub scene. It is located on Ventura Blvd, just past Laurel Cyn Blvd. The place was designed by the same designer who worked on The York in Highland Park, they look very similar. This was my second visit and I was not as impressed this time around. There's no doubt the selection of beer and wine is worth a visit, but the menu still needs a bit of work. On my first visit, we sampled the Burrata and Heirloom Tomato salad and the Chorizo Fondue. Both items were simple, but executed very nicely. On my second visit I thought I would go for some more unique fair. I ordered the Grilled Artichoke which came with a tangy dipping sauce. For my entree, I ordered the Roasted Marrowbones, served with parsley salt and toast, I also ordered a side of fries. The artichoke was a bit scorched, but not bad. The dipping sauce, was pretty bland and could have used a bit more seasoning. I should have been happy with the artichoke, because my entree was difficult to eat. I've had great roasted marrowbones, CommeCa was the latest. Laurel Tavern's Roasted Marrowbones had a very old taste, very minerally. They were also undercooked, so the marrow was not as smooth as it should be. If that wasn't bad enough, the parsley served with the salt was not very fresh. The fries which are supposed to be fried in pork fat, were not very memorable either. So all in all, stick with the basics at the Laurel Tavern. The beverages and the atmosphere are worth checking out. And when ordering food, stay away from any non-standard items. read more

I love the atmosphere at Laurel Tavern, but it can be slightly hard to appreciate when it's filled to capacity with other people who also love the atmosphere! Laurel Tavern clearly deserves its popularity--I've enjoyed some amazing New York beers that transport me right back to my neighborhood bars in Manhattan, and the food is really good. It's all a little pricy, but this is LA. Laurel Tavern is just a lot more fun when you're sitting on a weeknight than standing on a Saturday night. The crowd around the bar can run three to four deep at its busiest, which has left me standing awkwardly next to tables or near the entrance feeling like I should check on the food or greet people. read more

Great burgers and pork fat fries.... So bad an yet so good. The fella and I stopped in for a bite after realizing the Artisan cheese cafe was closed. We had been here before and remembered enjoying it. We scored seats at the bar, and were very pleased we had. Erick, the bartender was so chill and so informative. He was very patient while we asked question after question in regards to the best choices for libations. I was in a beer mood but instantly regretted my choice when I noticed a cocktail with lavender bitters. I can't remember exactly what it was called, unfortunately. The food was exceptional for pub fare, but then again the whole pub food thing is rapidly changing into a fine art. Check this place out for sure, It won't disappoint. If this place was closer to home and/or cabs weren't so expensive I would frequent this place way more often. Met up with friends on a Tuesday night here. This place is OK, nothing to write home about... the food is decent and their selection of appetizers is especially impressive. The pork belly skewers were an interesting and delicious take on bar food. Their beer and wine selections were also bountiful and delicious. I had the Red Tree Pinot Noir and then switched to the Alais Chardonnay. The reason I'm less than ecstatic about Laurel Tavern is the prices. For the cost, you'd think that someone would wait on you. But they don't. You place each and every order at the bar, which can be super inconvenient, especially when you're with a group of people. The ambiance is cool. There are TVs, which is a plus, and a variety of seating options. Valet parking is $4. I think the lack of service, coupled with the above-average prices will keep me from going back there. read more

I like this spot..theres mass parking in the trader joes also which as you know..if you read my reviews..are a HUGE plus in LA. The bartenders were cool enough and the beer selection is quite decent.
