Layton's was a very pleasant experience this morning. We got there at 9:15 - just before the line started. The hostess and waitress were courteous and friendly. We ordered omelets and eggs. Laytons is what I am always looking for at the beach - easy and quick service and great fresh food. We started our meal w an assortment of hot fresh donuts made on site and jumped into eggs and raisin french toast which was unbelievable. I know this place can get crazy busy but we went this past Sat and Sun around 7:30 and no problems at all. The service is always very quick and meals served w a nice smile. You feel like you are at a small local beachy restaurant which isnt always easy to come by down there as things get commercialized. Nice casual feel to it. Will be back. read more

I had the Noreaster, which was nicely cooked and not greasy. I'd likely get it again. As with most places in the area, the seating area (which we reached after a short outdoor wait) was a bit small. The various donuts which were sampled were acceptable. There were plenty of free samples given out, which made for a nice vibe. I got a pretty basic meal, which was basically pretty good. I expected a greasy mess in huge portions, but instead got a nice, sensible breakfast dish. I'd recommend Layton's overall. read more

Went there on a Friday morning. We were seated immediately. Server was polite and attentive. I thought the food arrived fairly quickly. Coffee was good quality and hot and I was offered a top off several times. I thought the food was very good. Hash browns were very good (not greasy) the sausage links were a bit spicy for my 15 year old but I enjoyed it. I would come back. On a side note to the new parents out there wanting to bring your infant and your toddler to this place It is a bit small and I thought the atmosphere was not suitable for a roughly 4 month old and her toddler sibling, It is a very busy atmosphere and with the clinging of plates, silver ware and conversation going in the restaurant, the last thing this restaurant and any other restaurant needs is your kid screaming and carrying on as load as possible and you not making any effort to comfort them. Do your self and everyone else a favor and get carry out and take to your room. It's vacation for most in the restaurant and your should consider this when deciding to bring your kid out to a costly breakfast. Bottom line, good place to eat, we will return!! Went there for breakfast twice. Breakfast prices are very reasonable for the beach. Kids loved the chocolate chip pancakes. Wait staff was very friendly and it seemed like most of them were family. Owner came around offering free donut samples. Coffee mug was kept full. Overall the friendliest restaurant we ate at. We plan to eat here every year we come back to OCMD. read more

Stopped in for a lunch/breakfast with a party of 7 at about 2pm. Food was pretty good and service was average. They didn't rush us out even though they close at 3. The sausage and biscuit gravy was decent but defiantly nothing to support some of the rave reviews I have seen. The shrimp tacos seemed decent. The kids had chicken fingers and eggs. The fresh fruit was old, the donuts we brought back for the rest of the family were greasy, there was food on the floor and college aged servers who were nice but useless. Best breakfast in OCMD! It's worth the wait on a Saturday morning. I recommend the eggs Chesapeake. It's eggs Benedict with crab cakes. The crab was out of this world! Read over lots of reviews and decided to give this place a shot. So glad we did! Food was great! Must recommend the Chesapeake eggs. Love it!!! Always a great breakfast. Love the eggs benedict chesapeake (crab cake) and the hungryman's griddle for my guy. Also the omletes are great and you can customize them anyway you like. My daughter likes to order a la carte, which is usually bagel with cream cheese and a banana. The fruit bowl is delish too. The servers are friendly and attentive. The hostess could be a little more friendly but seeing some of the peeps she deals with, its understandable. Its breakfast people, relax!!!!! God forbid a table of 2 gets in before your table of 9!!! Went to Layton's today to end out trip to Ocean CIty. Was looking for one final good meal before our drive home. After a 20 minute wait for indoor seating (it was already 92 degrees at 11am), we were seated. Service and food were good, but there was no air conditioning in the restaurant! No one apologized for it being so hot, so I assume it was not broken, and that they either don't have it or are trying to cut back on energy bills. What a disappointment, we were miserable and sweaty the entire meal. Who wants to eat a hot breakfast and drink coffee in a crowded restaurant while there is sweat coming down you? We waited extra time to get indoor seating, hoping for a nice cool atmosphere. When we finished out meal and walked outside it actually felt cooler outside, and it was already 92 degrees out. Big disappointment, waste of $65 for breakfast. Don't go here unless you like to sweat. read more

this place is mediocre at best. if you want microwaved bacon, luke warm food, and slow service then this place is for you. the people who sat down and ordered 10 minutes after us got their food 10 minutes before us. how hard is it to mess up breakfast? just ask these guys and they will tell you. there are way better options than laytons in this area. read more

Just had the worst breakfast experience at laytons. I can maybe understand waiting 10 mins to see a server mid July but when it's the end of September and 5 other tables are in there, there is no excuse. We flag down a server and ask him to take our drink order and he says "your waitress will be right with you she's splitting 6 checks at the front." So another 5 mins goes by and the very nice host who sat us came up to the table after noticing we hadn't been helped and asked to take our drinks. Finally! So he takes our drink order and when we ask about the rude waiter who didn't even offer to help, we find out he's the manager. THE MANAGER?! Didn't even offer an apology for our waiting and didn't even offer to write down our drink order ?? At that point we just couldn't see giving our money to this place when clearly they'll let someone like this run their restaurant. Shame on you laytons. read more
