Do you have a bad relationship with your money? (I do not, drop 1-star) Are you breaking up with your tastebuds? (Not yet, drop another) Should a high-end French restaurant inspire you precision service, on-point cooking technique and dazzling presentation? (Not here, third strike) Then Le Bilboquet is for YOU. Let's start with the good things. Alex, the bartender (the bar looked more fun, so we cancelled our table reservation with the hostess) was a highlight. He is exceptionally welcoming and engaging. The decor and vibe are fun, but definitely not catering to the younger couples that typically inject that fun. Drinks are NY pricy with Provo consistency (note, a majority of Provo residents do not drink). At $20 per house cocktail, the base liquor should be more than routine and precision from drink-to-drink should be exact. I get that rents in Cherry Creek North are steep and the margins on alcohol are great but the Coffee Manhattans I ordered in series were literally two different drinks, made by the same bartender, with different pour amounts, color and coffee flavor. I will say, the smoke on this drink, albeit gimmicky, was a good blending of taste and smell. It was like ski season in a high ball glass. The Martini Elacant, a sage infused creation, is impressive with the first smell and taste but with each additional sip, you quickly get bogged down in the syrupy consistency. La Salade Betterave ($18) is a nicely executed beet salad. It is not heavy and is honestly well-balanced with the addition of shaved apple and mandarin slice. The brown butter crumble is a nice addition for texture. The Delicata Squash Soup, provided to us as a taster, after we sent the risotto back, in an espresso cup (pretty challenging to eat with a large soup spoon that is as big as the cup) is beautifully flavored and holds it's foam structure on top to remove any weight. This should be a regular fall item for Le Bilboquet. Saffron Risotto, the Chef's Risotto de Jur, was a fail. First, it arrived via a food runner, who not only set it down in front of other patrons, but allowed them to touch it and then when we corrected her, brought it to us. Mon dieu!!!! It was tepid in temperature, already was setting a film and is presented in a bland manner with a 5:1 dish to food ratio. I love the French Laundry concept of bite, taste, flavor over gorge, devour, nap but you then need to execute on taste and flavor. We sent this dish back. The first aroma was that of dish soap. This was NOT the saffron. That flavor is present and distinctly different. The smell and taste were closer to Cascade dish soap than the earthy, sweet, floral nature of saffron. Even based on the smell alone, the patrons adjacent to us and the bartender agreed the dish was off. Le Canard Confit ($41) is a classic dish, not executed classically. While I recognized that the minimum requirement is for the duck to be salted and then slow-basted in it's rendered fat, My dish was JUST salted, no discernible addition of garlic or herbs, and taken to the point of dryness as it was overcooked, an incredible accomplishment with fatty dark meat. The accompanying mushrooms were done well and their earthiness was light, offsetting the fatty nature of the duck. The sauce that accompanies is more of contrast addition than a flavor addition as it was sparsely present and lacking flavors. Duck, we thank you for your sacrifice. NY Steak ($52). This is NOT on par with even Outback. Ordered medium-rare, delivered medium-well. It had an underdeveloped sear crust and was surprisingly gristly. Again, the side was showing up the main as the accompanying mashed potatoes were perfectly buttery and creamy, but COLD! The accompanying arugula salad is a good thought but overly simple, to the point it was not worth eating more than a few bites to acquire a bit of acid to cut the fats. The acid goal was better achieved by the glass of wine. Crème Brûlée (gratis, for our anniversary) - actually executed perfectly. I have no knock on this dessert. It was Crème Brûlée, exactly as you expect it...but isn't that part of the problem? Tarte Citron ($14) - ever been on a road trip and stop at a Perkin's? You don't need to when Le Bilboquet is offering this slice of truck stop. It is a classic lemon meringue pie slice on a graham cracker crust. By the description, and this may be on me, I was expecting a hardened meringue-based dollop with a vanilla glaze drizzle and lemon zest finish. The first bite was good but the lemon filling overpowers the sparse layer of delicate meringue. In the end, we deconstructed the slice on the plate, focusing on the delicious meringue and leaving the lemon filling largely uneaten. I am going to finish with a MAJOR CONCERN and pet peeve when eating at a high-end restaurant. When a patron has completed their meal, REMOVE THE PLATES. Especially at the bar, where there are 3-4 bar employees that are more than adequate to attend to this BASIC TASK. read more

Another great dinner at Le Bilboquet! We have been here a handful of times now and every experience is better than the last. Me and my husband got the chance to enjoy what Le Bilboquet had to offer at this year's RARE event in the vip section and we're blown away by their scallop crudo dish. We had previously made a reservation for a couple weeks later with the plan of bringing a friend in town over to have dinner. We were greeted with such excitement that it really set the mood for the night. We all got cocktails and 3 apps to share. The foie gras was insane! So buttery! Tuna tartare, crazy tender. Beet salad, perfect palette refresher. Then, SURPRISE! They brought us out the scallop dish from RARE! BLOWN AWAY. After that we had the duck, the salmon, and the bouillabaisse (do yourself a favor and get this at least once in your life). We had the creme brule, perfect, and the chocolate mousse, a fucking delicious cloud of chocolate. Based on Yelp reviews, I had my doubts about this place. You want a restaurant to have a 4+ star rating when you know that your dinner will be quite expensive. I'm so happy we have chosen Le Bilboquet to celebrate International Women's Day with my girls. I loved the beautiful and elegant atmosphere, as well as the small details like the delicate flower arrangements and table lamps. The service was top-notch!! Our server was attentive, respectful, and considerate. I assure you that pleasing some of my female friends is not a simple feat, but his professionalism amazed everyone. The food was great! I ordered potato leek soup as an appetizer, and it was a simple but hearty start to my dinner. I was really impressed with Les Saint Jacques the scallops and the sauce they came with were excellent! We loved all the dishes: the salmon, chicken, and steak were delicious. The only dish my friend didn't like was a crab risotto, it was too fishy for her taste. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to try it, our server was quite quick to return it and provide an exchange:) The flank steak my friend got as a second option was perfectly tender, juicy, and so well seasoned. Another definition of bilboquet is a circle where one adjusts the blank intended to be struck in money, in medal. tool with which the gilder places gold in hard-to-reach places. piece of turned wood, rounded by the ends and a little thinned in the middle, which are used by the hairdressers to curl the hair destined to make wigs. liter of wine - comparison of the bottle to the cup and ball. the cap of one is removed like the ball of the other. Figurine weighted with lead, so that it is still standing. Grotesque or inconsistent character. Bilboquet is also small jobs such as invoices, invitation cards, letterheads, etc. printed matter of little importance, not intended for the public and not susceptible of literary property. So pick one or ask someone at the restaurant I was very impressed with their drinks, food and service. What else? The brightly colored couches in the lounge. The perfect choice for a 17th birthday lunch celebration! My daughter and her friend had Le Bilboquet Burgers and they smelled as good as they tasted. Accompanied by a cup of crisp French fries, the burger meat was cooked medium and was juicy and so tasty. Neither of the hungry teens could finish it which is a testament to the big flavor. The chicken curry salad was so healthy and perfectly flavored. I was pleasantly surprised that the chicken curry didn't include a creamy sauce, instead the curry flavor came from a rub or a marinade before being grilled. The other ingredients were tasty except for an abundance of the tasteless white rib part of the leaves. More green, less white would have made this a spectacular salad. My friend had the Lentil salad with poached egg on top, which was super flavorful and almost looked like a dense stew. Very nice for a cool day. The birthday girl enjoyed a fabulous lavender & citrus mock-tail which was pretty and garnished with a violet. This is a beautiful space, which just made the occasion that much more special, and the service was very pleasant and professional. Overpriced and stuffy. The food is average and very overpriced, but that is to be expected in CC. What I didn't expect was the rude attitude of our waitress, I assume she was the lead server. Everyone else was very nice, but the way she treated us left a bad taste in my mouth. My friend and I came here for Sunday brunch. We each ordered a glass of sparkling wine. It came in two different fruit flavors (both listed in French). I literally have not taken French since college and called the framboise, strawberry instead of raspberry. When I told the server I wanted the "strawberry," she corrected me in a super condescending tone. "You mean raspberry... framboise means raspberry and not strawberry." Okay, sorry I don't remember French for strawberry, but I literally pointed to it on the menu, there was no reason to be rude. More on the food, I ordered a smoke salmon plate and it was literally 4 slices of smoked salmon with some crème fraiche, chopped capers, onions , bagged guacamole, and some sliced toast for $19. It was okay, not anything special, but I expected at least a fresh avocado. If you're so concerned about being "French," why is there guac on your menu? Getting mediocre food and being spoke to in that manner really ruined the experience for me. I will mention that all other servers were lovely. 3.5 stars. I attended a friend's birthday brunch here yesterday and I'd say this place is very fitting for the Cherry Creek area with its more upscale decor and presence. Very clean, elegant dining room, well organized enough that our group of five didn't feel too crowded at our table, though it wasn't extremely busy at almost 11:30am. Due to their prices, it's likely not the first place people are drawn to for brunch, but I could definitely see it being ideal if you're looking for someplace quieter than other establishments. In fact, I felt I had to keep my voice volume in check due to the quieter atmosphere. My personal meal consisted of L'Omelette, a cappuccino, and finishing with the creme brûlée and regular coffee. I was really drawn towards the Les Oeufs Benedict au Crabe because I love a good crab benedict, but at twice the price of the omelette and having just come back from travel, I balked for the day. The omelette, fingerling potatoes, and salad were all good, but I'm not sure if they were $18 good. I'm also intrigued by the decision to add fries as the side for all the benedicts rather than the potatoes. The cappuccino was good with a heavy foam, and the creme brûlée was perfect, though I expected nothing less. The waitstaff was very attentive, regularly filling up our glasses of water (note: they ask if you want still or sparkling, and there is a charge for sparkling water) and clearing the table promptly. Parking wasn't too complicated and I was able to snag a street spot, but it is the Cherry Creek area, so with plenty of dining and shopping, it will be busy that time of that, especially with the beautiful weather we had (followed by a day of rain as I write this). Overall, my meal was fine but not overly impressive. Knowing my friend, I understand why she picked the place for a small, quiet brunch gathering, but it wouldn't be my personal choice for brunch. Desserts were amazing - mousse, profiteroles, and apple tart. Beautiful indoor and outdoor eating areas. Thankfully not too crowded or noisy on a Monday in October. My boyfriend and I were very excited to check this place out!! The food was spectacular, we got the escargot and the beef tartar for starters and it was definitely a 10/10. For our entrees we got the filet Mingon and the duck leg confit. The duck came atop a bed of shittake mushrooms that were delectable and tasty. The mashed potato's were the perfect blend of creamy and soft, yet thick and scrumptious. However, the reasoning for an only 3 star review, lie's unfortunately within the service. Simon, our server, was extremely rude all night. There was many times where it had seemed like he abandoned us and didn't care much of our presence. So much so that when he was around and despite us being polite and saying thank you very much for things, he was silent and showed zero manners. We had asked for a Coca Cola as an accompaniment to our meal after our wine not once not twice but three times and he never brought it. We finally got it maybe 20 minutes before our departure. And we were charged for that. Pretty disappointing service and made the experience deteriorate much more than it should have. I may never come back because of the experience provided by Simon, which is sad because the food was really good and the ambiance a beautiful French vibe. Matt on the other hand, a server assistant, had a GREAT personality and was very kind and accommodating. As a server myself, I know what it takes and what is and is not possible for providing great service. The restaurant in general might be a little to high end for me, but the food was good. It's in Cherry Creek so it's perfect after you're done shopping. Croque Madame - The cheese and ham was perfect! The bread was a little softer than I'm used too, but I liked it that way. The egg was perfect on top and really brought the whole sandwich together. Steak Frite - Steak was perfectly cooked and the chimichurri added great flavors. Fries are delicious as usual. Strawberry Nutella Crepe - They list this as an entree, but I highly recommend it for dessert! I doesn't look like a lot but it was the perfect amount. If you have a sweet tooth this is a must try. I was curious about this restaurant located in Cherry Creek North and thought having brunch there would be a good way to try it. The space is gorgeous, very bright with windows all around, white table cloths contrasting beautifully against dark blue velvet banquettes and contributing to a sophisticated feel. The contemporary art on the walls brings a modern and playful touch in this otherwise classic atmosphere. The lounge area if fun with comfortable velvet chairs in various colors, a perfect spot if you'd rather just enjoy drinks. The number of plotted orchids and beautiful fresh flowers all over add to the chic mood and I could not help wonder how much the restaurant spends on the florist each week. This place is definitely elegant but still manages to feel inviting, which it should be as the food is quite classic bistro fare, nothing extravagant. In case you are wondering, a bilboquet is a traditional kid toy popular in France in the 18th century. It's basically a ring and pin game made out of solid wood where a heavy ball serves as a substitute for the ring (the ball is caught on the tip of a spindle by a hole drilled in the ball opposite the string- if might make more sense if you look at the picture below my review). Anyway, to go back to the restaurant, service is very attentive, with regular water refills and the waiter checking on you frequently. The food is not as upscale as the setting would hint for, mostly simple French cuisine you could find in a lot of old Parisians bistros or even in some cafés. Portions are generous enough, my croque monsieur came with delicious French fries and a small salad (the leaves very fresh and tender but the dressing almost non-existant). The croque was on the traditional side, made on regular bread like the one you find sliced in the supermarket (when more and more places offer an updated version on pain Poilâne for example) and was good enough, although not hot, barely warm.  My husband got the croque madame meaning that there is a fried egg seating on top of the sandwich and he was happy with his dish. For dessert, we shared the crêpes suzette, and this was the perfect finish to a very pleasant brunch. read more

When there were a large group on a Saturday at 1:30 PM. There was extremely loud music blaring out of the speakers and apparently they're doing a special DJ Saturday where they have somebody playing music with a disco beat from about noon until 3 PM. For the first 90 minutes of our lunch we could hardly hear ourselves speak, and many people asked that be turned down, but they would not do so. Once the music was at normal levels at 3 PM lunch was OK. However, very disappointed with the quality of the mussels. They were chewy and tough. The cozy lounge area is changed to just a regular dining area and that make sense as the response to the pandamic. The spacing out is fairly good inside but not so much outside. My wife and I enjoy dining versus eating when we go to a finer restaurant. Ours dining experience was interrupted rudely twice by the waiter who first insisted we order our entrée at the same time we ordered our appetizer. We refused to do so and received an attitude from our waiter when we ordered only our appetizer. When the time came to order our entrées we were told we had only 30 minutes more before the table needed to be vacated. No our experience is totally ruined with their insistence to turn a table. As far as the food goes my wife ordered a mushroom soup which she enjoyed. I ordered the escargot which I too enjoyed along with their signature cocktails to begin our meal. I then ordered their specialty Cajun chicken which was cooked very nicely and my wife had the salmon which she enjoyed. We each had three signature drinks along with the two appetizers and two entrées and no dessert for this evening. Tip and all total bill was $235.00. For that amount I don't appreciate the establishment pressuring us to "Hurry" our dining. Conclusion: Food was good but not good enough to overcome the rudeness. Thus we will not return. A New York City French restaurant. We got the New Year's menu at lunch. A surprise. Prices were $95 per person prix fixe. Of course, wine was extra. At this point, we were hoping this was going to be spectacular. The service was mediocre and slow. Our lunch, without exaggeration, took two hours and 15 minutes to complete. Ridiculous! So how was the food? The food was good but not outstanding. Portions were adequate but not abundant. We ordered the venison medium rare and it came well done. The salad was amazing. The veal was OK but over-cooked and was nothing special, while the roasted chestnuts on the side were terrific. The Merengue dessert was very good as was the Roquefort salad. The food rates 3 1/2 stars. Now to the service. The service was slow. The waiter admitted he was unfamiliar with the menu. Only occasionally did a server come by to check on water, wine, coffee and the like. Overall, the staff was inattentive. We know five star service - - it is three blocks away at the Cherry Creek Grill. Thus, we rank service as a 2 1/2 stars and averaging food with service they get a 3 star. I used to adore this restaurant--its European ambiance and steady execution of a basic, although unremarkable menu. I enjoyed its elegance, which is no longer. Had lunch there in December and the wait staff were clumsy and inattentive. Little things like cleaning the crumbs between courses, missed. The wait person could not fit between the tables so they literally tossed the silverware at the table and it was up to us to straighten and place it. The restaurant was only 1/2 full, but it took 2 hours for us to be served 2 courses which we ordered at the beginning. Please bring back the elegance in decor and service. read more

The staff was wonderful, the martinis excellent...I will say everyone hyped the Cajun chicken, which was just good, but so many other things we ordered were better...and according to everyone at the table the serving is now half what it once was. Before going here, you've got to realize Le Bilboquet is a high end French restaurant and the prices will be steep. My husband and I went here for lunch on a Friday and really enjoyed ourselves (we find this a good compromise when going to fancier places, as lunch prices are slightly less absurd). My husband has a wide range of dietary restrictions and they did their best to be accommodating. He went with the smoked salmon and croque monsieur, I had the mussels and we shared the creme brulee. Everything was delicious and we found the portions to be reasonable. The cocktails, though, were something else. Absolutely divine, though you certainly pay for it (ours were $14-$17 each). We sat out on the patio, which I would highly recommend. One of the best in Cherry Creek North. Our main server and all other employees that we communicated with were personable and professional. Although we can't afford to come here regularly, we will be back - I've got my eye on brunch! read more

The room is gorgeous and sophisticated- inside and out. I loved the furnishings, layout, decorations... both inside and out. How much does that exterior wood wall and ceiling overhang cost? I loved the background french music also. Everything about this place could be in NYC- menu, staff, quality, PRICE! It's refined and elegant, but not snotty. The menu is relatively small- yet the Cajun Chicken and Steak Frites (most expensive SF I've EVER seen on a menu) were EXCELLENT! The steak, while not the best cut of meat (typical for steak frites- or it would cost double), was worth returning for the next day! While smallish, it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The french onion soup looked perfect yet with so many places serving a solid FOS, I would say this one tasted average. The beet salad was almost too beautiful to eat! The drinks were strong and excellent! The apple dessert was near perfect! PROBLEM: The dishwasher- machine/person is awful! Even if their machine turns out such spotty spoons, doesn't anyone notice? I once had that job and would have never let that silverware pass. I would surely return to this gem, but only when I'm feeling wealthy. read more

Absolutely amazing Birthday dinner for my Dad and husband last night!! We loved the Froix Gras and the Duck Confit was delicious. The service was excellent!! Truly top notch! My husband loves the Veal he has it every time we go. The desserts all amazing! The Pasta was outstanding I can't say enough! I came here for a Christmas Eve dinner. The decor was French modern with dim lighting, velvet seating, dark wood, and modern, bright art. They give you complimentary bread and the menu looked more appetizing in the restaurant than it did on the website. The French onion soup was hands down the best French onion soup I've ever had. I paired that with the scallops, which I thought were going to be warm and buttery, pan fried, but instead it was more of a ceviche. By no means were they bad but it wasn't what I was expecting. Another member of my party ordered the duck and it was hands down the best meal of the night. The duck was so moist and then skin incredibly crispy. It paired perfectly with the mushrooms and potatoes that came with it. We ended up sharing the crème brûlée for dessert and it was perfect and exactly what you would expect. The espresso martini was strong, their play on the French 75 was delicious, and the ambiance was very pleasant. read more

We had a big group with nice outdoor seating and a beautiful table presentation. I enjoyed my cocktails and my food was good....the fries being my favorite. My beet salad had great presentation. Someone else at the table ordered the steak tartare, which she'd had before at other places, so she thought she knew what she'd be getting. However, she didn't like the dish at all and didn't touch it after one bite. The server never asked about it, but finally my friend spoke up about it. The server offered something else, but by then we were almost done. The dish wasn't taken off the bill which was surprising at a restaurant like this. When my friend asked about it, the server seemed annoyed and said she'd ask the manager. It was eventually taken off, but it should've been automatic. Another issue was the bill. Automatic gratuity is pretty standard for big groups, so that's not a problem, but the bill didn't clearly state that it was added. We didn't like the lack of transparency. When the server brought the credit cards back to the table, she just dumped them all on the table. read more
