Wanting something refreshing to cool off during these warm summer days, I stopped by Le Crème after lunch and picked up a fresh durian smoothie. When I first received the drink, I was surprised by its color since I expected it to be a brighter yellow. After the first couple of sips, the distinct aroma and flavor of the durian came through nicely. However, as I continued drinking, both the scent and taste seemed to become more diluted. I enjoyed it overall, but I wish the rich durian flavor had remained more consistent from start to finish.
Mochi donuts and lots of them, please! I was on the hunt for a place that sold all of the flavors my family generally would eat like cookies & cream, fruity pebbles, black sesame, ube, etc. I leaned on good ole trusty Yelp to guide me to the best place that would meet my expectations and Le Creme was it. There were the flavors I mentioned above and then some. I called ahead to ask for pricing since most of the Yelp photos were outdated from years ago and of course, prices then are nowhere near the same as now. For one dozen mochi donuts, it'll set you back roughly $39 (including taxes). I ended up getting 10 mochi donuts (flavored with cookies & cream, ube, fruity pebbles, strawberry, and churro). The donuts only took 10 minutes to cook fresh to order. Cookies & cream and fruity pebbles were easily my fave of the bunch. The donuts are soft, chewy, and I would say slightly more dense than other places (but not in a bad way). I look forward to coming back here again for my mochi donut needs!
Ordered ahead online Came to pick up after receiving the "order isready" text and they said it's not ready yet and need to wait another 7 minutes. 10 minutes later we check and they said oh...they gave it to the wrong person and we had to wait another 10-15 minutes. Did I mention the boss lady was unapologetic about it and the food came out cold.
Le Creme is located in the Paloma Plaza where parking can be a nightmare during peak hours, especially on weekends. A small place with a few inside tables to sit at. The service was friendly and helpful. Strawberry Matcha (4/5). I added lychee jelly. Good strawberry puree with a strong matcha flavor. Vanilla Bean Malasada (3/5) - I was hoping this would have been warm but it wasn't. The sugary dough was fluffy and vanilla filling was tasty but skimpy. I'll be back to try other items from their menu.
I've been craving malasadas and when I walked in and saw it, I had to get it! There are so many fresh options to choose from. Whether you just like it dusted with sugar or filled some yummy creamy flavor, they got you. My wife and I thought it tasted pretty good. Like Leonards..maybe not, but it definitely hit the spot with the warm, pillowy, eggy, donut with a delicate, slightly crisp interior. We also got some beignets too to bring us back to New Orleans, but I felt that it was just okay. This place has a yuggge menu of street food, drinks, and so many viral and trendy dessert snack options. Whatever you're in the mood for, they will have it and you can come here and it will conveniently have everything you want.
Went to this cafe randomly on a day we were craving some cafe food. The ambiance was cozy and cute. Service was super quick. We went on a weekday late noon. Ordered: - Milk Tea with Boba: 4/5 -- I liked that the owner let us try the sweetness level beforehand since it was our first time there. My 4 yr old kid loved it. - Taro Milk Tea: 3/5 -- It was average in taste. - Garlic Fries: 3/5 -- They ensured they answered all queries related to the oil used and clarified that they use regular vegetable oil for these fries. Tasted good. We will be back to try other items on the menu!
So my family and I have been coming to Le Crème for years. We have enjoyed the drinks and really love the mochi doughnuts since they make it fresh and usually warm and very delicious. As for their customer service they've been just there not so welcoming. Well today June 20th around 8ish I ordered 3 drinks and regular 4 pack mochi doughnuts. Well my daughter's drink had a hair in it. . She didn't notice till half way when she swirled her drink cause it had cream. (Usually the girls working there have their hair down or loosely tied back. I rather have them tightly back with headband) So for further ordering I'll stick to the doughnuts unless my next order has a problem.
I tried Le Crème Cafe and had mixed feelings. Mango Swirl: I chose 75% sweetness, but it was still too sweet for my taste. I prefer a slightly sour flavor, so next time I would choose 50%. The texture felt like a minced mixture between a smoothie and jam. My son picked this item, but honestly, it didn't really stand out. Ice Cream with Egg Puff: This was the highlight. The chocolate ice cream was rich and tempting--hard to resist. We finished it completely. The quality of the ice cream felt high-end, and the egg puff was crunchy on the outside. Every bite was satisfying. Service & Wait Time: I deducted a star mainly because of the service. The wait time for the egg puff was not communicated clearly. I ordered at 4:35 PM and received it at 4:50 PM, which was a 15-minute wait. That's fine if explained, but it wasn't mentioned at all. Also, the staff did not smile or show much friendliness. Customer service does not seem to be a focus here. Overall, the food quality is good, but with better communication and a warmer attitude, the experience could be much better.
Le Creme: 3.5 stars! I came here today (Thursday) around 6:20pm because I wanted a sweet treat. My friend and I saw that they had a new drink which was the banana matcha latte! There's plenty of tables and chairs indoors to hang out! We got the banana matcha latte, beignets with condensed milk, and the strawberry banana with nutella crepe with strawberry ice cream. The banana matcha latte wasn't tasty at all, the matcha was not good and the banana flavor was very light. I like the strawberry ice cream crepe! Definitely will stick to my regular drinks which is the caramel snow and strawberry milk tea with jelly stars!
The best mochi donuts in SJ!!! The donuts are sooo fresh that the coating on top is still warm. I've been coming here for mochi donuts for years and they never disappoint. It took them about 6-10 minutes to make a dozen mochi donuts. The service is friendly and fast. The shop is always clean and welcoming. I highly recommend giving this spot a try!!
Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2019 Le Créme Café is located in a very busy shopping center where parking is extremely difficult to find. I've been wanting to try the mochi donuts and it's nice to know there is a local spot in San Jose where you can purchase them fresh. We ordered the following flavors Churro Sugar Matcha Strawberry Fruity Pebbles Cookies and Cream They were made fresh and piping hot. So, I was going out yesterday to have some lunch with my friends and my son asked if I can get him some beignets on my way back. I asked him where can I get it from, he said Le crème. They have it. He never had it but he knows they had it. Anyways, I get it and paid around $10 for 4 beignets with Nutella dipping sauce and guess what, we couldn't eat it! The dipping sauce was not even real Nutella! They are charging you for the fake sauce. I am posting the pictures of the whole pack and the sauce and I am posting the real Nutella picture too. Anyone can see the difference that the color is totally different from each other. It tasted so bad that we couldn't even eat it. $10 down the drain. I don't recommend anyone to go there for beignet. mochi donuts here are best fresh! our favorites were matcha & honeydew since they were the most potent. didn't really taste much of the pandan or the churro. guava filled malasada was pretty damn tasty, nothing like hawaii though. we also tried the plain sugar malasada (no filling) & we could have done without it. we went on a sunday, around early evening & it was busy! we waited for take out for about 10-15 minutes. small space inside so we waited outside. I'd come back here for some mochi donuts if they were going to be eaten immediately. read more

Mochi Donut!! This place makes it upon ordering so everything you get is FRESH!! You can order one for $2, 6 for $10.50 and so on. I ordered 6 because helloooo. Why not. These little suckers are addicting af I was a bit weary about ordering so much because I wasn't sure how long the wait was but didn't wait more than 5 mins! This place gets pretty busy. A line out the door from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. Definitely a hidden gem. read more
This review is solely for the mochi donuts. We were going for a walk around the area and I remembered seeing mochi donuts at this place on Yelp. So of course, we walked in and I got 4 (minimum order). Chocolate, matcha, churro, and cookies and cream. We took it Togo, and started eating it on the way home. Omg it was so yummy, the donuts are made to order so they were still hot and fresh when we got them! Hot, soft, chewy, with just enough glaze for flavor but not too much to be overly sweet. By the time we walked down the street we were out. The sister had us circle back around so she can order 6 more! Haha We tried most of the flavors and all were delish bc the actual donut itself had such great texture and consistency. I'd give 5 stars for each flavor with the exception of the strawberry, it was just a tad too sweet and artificial tasting for me. I can't wait to return and get more, also making it a point to try their malasadas, beignets, and coffee. See you soon Le Creme, I can't wait for our next date! I love the mochi donuts here and how they are made fresh to order and not just waiting to be boxed. They come in 4 or more. Multiple favors but my faves are the ube, cookie and cream, passion fruit and black sesame. They also make some great malasadas. They do serve food but haven't tried any of it yet. There are a few seats inside and a couple of seats in a small sitting area outside. read more

I remember when the mochi donut was popping off in the food market. Le Creme also offers a great selection of flavors from cookies and cream, fruity pebbles, pandan, and more. They're super soft and chewy without feeling too heavy/sugary as donuts can normally be. Each bite is a delight and I love that the shape makes it easy to share with others! For 6 pieces, it was about $18. read more

It's an amazing place! They offer different kinds of food and drinks. They have milktea, smoothie, coffee, appetizers, desserts, meal and many more! We went there at around 7:30PM and the place wasn't that fully packed it wasn't that noisy inside. They gave us our drinks first maybe after 3 minutes that we have placed our orders. We have waited a little longer for the food but it was fine because we ordered chicken gizzard and it takes a while to cook it. Total waiting time for food after ordering was around 8-10 minutes only considering that some people ordered a lot ahead of us. Parking could be difficult since the shopping/food center offers a variety of restaurants there. You just need a little patience. Me and my partner rated our food and drinks a 5/5 stars! The drinks were superb! I got an Okinawa milktea black boba with 75% sugar, Watermelon slushy with Lychee jelly and Buttered chicken gizzard. Their serving for the chicken gizzard was actually good for the price. Definitely recommend going to this place! read more
Men no longer give us butterflies anymore.... straight up just high blood pressure. But mochi donuts helps brings that blood pressure down most of time. .:: Goods ::. Strawberry Mochi Donut $2: Probably my favorite one. Good amount of glaze with the right amount of sweetness. Their moichi donuts are made to order so it's super fresh and I LOVE how caliente it is as you take each bite, it's chewy. Matcha Mochi Donut $2: also very fresh, but the flavor was not as satisfying, the matcha taste was not prominent. .:: Ambiance/Service/Parking::. The place is very simple, not aesthetic but reminds me of a viet restaurant. Good service, they never went above and beyond but they were never rude. Menu is huge, i never noticed the amount of stuff they offered. I came and just eyed the mochi donuts but they have FUNNEL CAKES, which I am dying to try next time. This place is cute and has a wide variety of offerings on the menu, with both sweet and savory items. Today I tried the cinnamon mochi donut and jasmine milk tea with boba. The mochi donuts are made fresh to order and take about 10 minutes. There are flavors like matcha and fruity pebbles. I ate it straight away, and it was warm and deliciously chewy. It had a lovely cinnamon flavor and wasn't overly sweet. I'd give the mochi donut here a 5. I will be back for more mochi donuts! I also got the jasmine milk tea with boba and it was fine, good but nothing special. I'd give the boba a 3.5. The boba was a touch overcooked and too soft. I usually get my drinks less sweet, but found the normal level here to be good, not as sweet as most other boba shops. read more
MOCHI DONUTS. I am one of the shameless mochi donut lovers that has waited over 2 hours for MoDo. I had Le Crème bookmarked for over 6 months and finally had the chance to stop by today. I am in looooooove. So fluffy, chewy and flavorful! And for a pretty decent cost $2/donut or 6 for $10.50. I HIGHLY recommend the strawberry. It was tha bomb! If you're a fan of strawberry pocky, you will swoon over their strawberry mochi donut. Now that I've fallen in love, please don't ever leave me La Crème... The parking lot is chaotic AF. On my 7th circle (and about to give up and leave) a car left and I parked. It was a weekday around 1 so I'm not sure if that is the usual at that plaza. I walked in and it was busy inside. I looked at the menu (soooo many options) for Mochi Donuts. I didn't see the flavors and the cashier told me they are on a chalkboard in front of the register. She let me know they change the flavors daily and the popular flavors for that day are Matcha and Chocolate. So I ordered 3 at $2 each (Matcha, Sugar, and Chocolate). She let me know they are made fresh and would take 10 minutes to make (SWEET)! While I was waiting I used the bathroom which was clean and well maintained. After about 10 minutes my ordered was called. I couldn't wait to try them. The donut was hot, sweet, and delicious. I think they taste best when they are hot. You can taste the chewy consistency of the donut better. Once they get cold they don't taste the same. The menu has a lot of variety on different types of foods and drinks. The service was fine. If it weren't for the horrible parking I would be more willing to explore the menu. read more
Came at lunch time on a Wednesday. No line! Ordered 6 Mochi donuts and they came out in less than 10 min. Mochi is amazing BUT the icing is not strong enough. Basically the same donut dipped in different flavors. Still good tho. Size is average compared to the other pon de ring donuts. Staff is quick and friendly. Tried the taro tea with boba. Excellent taste! Doesn't have the cheap powdery taste some places seem to have. Regular size. Nothing special. Parking sucked. Circled a bit inside the shopping center and gave up and parked in the street. There was a good 5 cars circling with me and MANY people just parking in front of the stores and getting out with their hazard lights on. Formerly known as east side SJ's Tapioca Express, La Crème had rebranded itself. If you like desserts, I highly recommend this spot. Mochi donuts galore! I think La Crème has the best mochi donuts in San José. They also have great beignets, crepes, and malasadas that remind you of Hawaii. The smoothies are great and the drinks resemble the taste of Tapioca Express (to me). I love that this location also serves real food like steak garlic noodles, shaken beef rice, pad thai (althought Thai Elephant is right there in the same plaza), and comfort snacks like popcorn chicken. Note: The parking in this plaza can get super congested but Target is a short walk away. read more

This place is amazing, to say the least. Their menu is extensive, I mean anything you're looking for, it's probably there. Most notably mochi donut, boba drinks, donut or waffle with ice cream, and even some hot dishes for your liking. Honestly they could probably specialize in the mochi donut and get tons of business, but they chose to have a variety of items on their menu. And for this reason, there isn't a 1-2 hour wait for your donuts. It's a hidden gem and I hope it stays that way! I'm glad I don't have to wait in a long line in Japantown SF or the original MoDo donut from Hawaii. The mochi donuts are made to order. Delicious and warm with multiple flavors to choose from ranging from strawberry, matcha (my favorite), plain, Oreo, fruity pebble, and black sesame. I don't remember the exact price but it was a dozen for $23 including tax. Compared to your typical American donut, it's steep but these donuts are hard to find equal high in demand! read more

We got the 6 for $14. My kids really enjoyed it! Made fresh to order on a Monday at around 2:30pm. The wait for fresh Mochi donuts was around 10-15 minutes. We received them warm and the kids ate them as fresh as they come. The staff were very friendly. Would definitely be back. read more

Adorable spot. They'd be on par with Mister Donut had they expanded on their donut variety rather than stretch themselves wildly thin on other dessert ventures. Who goes here for the photo ops or shaved ice??? It's all about the mochi donuts my guy :0 Little to no wait (lol @ MoDo). I came here around 2PM on a Saturday, may have just dodged the lunch rush :-) I stayed maybe 15 mins for the donuts themselves & was able to enjoy a relatively quiet wait. The business occupies a small space that used to house some shoddy boba place. While I appreciate their effort at sprucing up the location with ~trendy~ Asian desserts and cute decor, the interior still has the effect of run down, slightly-sticky family-owned business. Take your donuts elsewhere for your IG photos! GARLIC NOODLES WITH FILET MIGNON: Flavorful noodles & heavy-handed on the garlic if you're into that. As for the "filet mignon", you have the option of getting it well-done, medium, or medium rare. They pair this with a small salad and vegetable stir fry to feign being a well-balanced meal, but we all know we're here for that good carb & sodium overload. The side of stir fry was mostly--modestly bitter--bell pepper. Might be personal preference, but I wasn't a fan of the brown sauce; it was disturbingly salty and greasy (the age-old rumor of Chinese restaurants reusing old sauce for new dishes comes to mind), so I feel the dish could have fared well without it. MOCHI DONUTS: Fluffy, chewy, & perfectly sweet. I brought these home when visiting family and they were over the moon for these~ ^_^ Favorite flavor is definitely strawberry, there's something about that tangy sweetness that goes so perfectly with the light, soft donut. Well worth the wait! My only gripe is that... The donuts don't fit in the box? Why... Would you get a box... That doesn't close........ Doesn't this negate the purpose of having a box.......... You might as well just hand these all to me in a paper towel with the feeble hope that they don't tumble their merry way onto the floor TARO MILK TEA: Probably made of taro powder. Has that sour aftertaste from too much sugar syrup. Decent boba, sweetened ok. Not their forte. If you're visiting La Creme Cafe, I'd recommend sticking to what they're best at-- mochi donuts. Especially in a plaza absolutely overflowing with better food joints aplenty. I'll still keep this on my Yelp bookmark for their beautifully fresh mochi donuts, eventually looking to check out how their malasadas compare :-) read more

Came here with my fiancé on a Saturday morning. The hours online say they open at 10:30. However, we arrived around 10:15 and the store was open with a few customers already inside. We decided to do the half dozen mochi donuts. We picked 2 sugars, churro, ube, milk chocolate, and black sesame. My favorite had to have been the sugar donut. It was just tossed in sugar and tasted very sweet. I also really enjoyed the ube and black sesame donuts. They were both very flavorful and one of my favorites. The churro and milk chocolate were just okay. The donuts themselves are super soft and fluffy. They are served piping hot and will melt in your mouth. There is a sign up front letting you know the donut flavors of the day plus letting you know all donuts are freshly made so expect to wait at least 15 minutes. Overall, I really enjoyed the donuts. They are something I have never tasted before and are the perfect sweet dessert. They are definitely worth the hype. read more

I came here for dessert after eating at a restaurant in the same plaza. The staff here are friendly and they keep the place very clean. Their menu has a wide variety of options, but my family ordered mochi donuts (strawberry, cookies and cream, and fruity pebbles) and an ube malasada. They were made to order so they were fresh and warm, which gave them the perfect texture: a soft and chewy interior with a crispy exterior. I'd definitely call this place the crème de le crème! read more
My new fav dessert spot! They have mochi donuts, ice cream, eggettes, and malasadas aka filled donut w/(ube, regular, sugar, Nutella.. and more.). I think their mochi donuts tastes way better than Hawaii, no wait and it taste FRESH! I mean you have to wait maybe 10 minutes because they make their donuts fresh. That I don't mind... I love their filled malasadas! I got to try their Ube and Nutella. It was bomb! So much oozing out! Would you say Nutella porn? The donut was so soft and warm, delicious! I'm so very thankful for this business. This was my first time having a mochi donut and I'm hooked for life now! I ordered 2 sugar, 1 churro, 1 chocolate, 1 cookies and cream, 1 strawberry and 1 guava malasala (I think that's what it's called ). My wait time was about 5-10 minutes and it's well worth the weight. When my name was called to pick up my order, I damn near jumped out of my seat ... . I grabbed the box and thanked the employee. To my surprise the box was warm, so at this point I'm super excited to try fresh mochi donuts. It's definitely an experience you should have at least once in your lifetime. It was sooo soft light and warm. The mochi pieces pull apart in such a fun shareable way. I'll be returning for sure and with more money and a bigger appetite this time. read more

This review is only about the mochi donuts! This cafe sells a lot of other things from smoothies, to beignets, and malasadas but I only came here for mochi donuts and I'm glad I did! They make their donuts fresh so it might take awhile to come out. But because they are fresh, they come out deliciously warm! The frosting often times gets ruin because they have to slightly stack them on top of one another to fit in the box but still amazing regardless. When the donuts when warm they were slightly crispy on the outside while soft and slightly chewy on the inside. The frosting wasn't too sweet and added a nice subtle flavor. If you wait for the donuts to completely cool down, the donuts become more mochi-like and very chewy! They have multiple flavors! At the time I went, they had sugar, churro, strawberry, matcha, and cookies and cream. Each donut is $2, six for $10.50, and a dozen for $21. Will definitely be back for more mochi donuts!!! read more

Never waited at the Mitsuwa market for their donuts as it always seemed like a 3 hour wait. Lo and behold comes this small little place. I could have sworn they did not carry mochi donuts when they first opened and as a result never really gave this place a second chance as it seemed like another lame dessert place when it first opened(and replaced TapExp). Really glad I stumbled upon this place as their mochi donuts are amazing while fresh(they kinda lose their amazingness if you plan on taking them to go) and their gelato is really good. I honestly prefer this gelato over Marco Polo's (price/sizing maaaay play a big part). Really amazing place for desserts now with their only downsides with it being in a cramped parking lot and a small interior make it a bit chaotic during busy hours. Hope to try their milk teas eventually but until then their mochi donuts and gelato is enough to get me back here at least once a week. read more

This is the only place I have ever had that makes the mochi donuts fresh to order. Sadly I don't live in the area but whenever I'm back here in SJ, this is a MUST! I always recommend this place as well as some drink places in the plaza because I know it'll always be a crowd pleaser to have these warm, crunchy outside and chewy inside mochi donuts. I'll never have another mochi donut as good, would definitely recommend! read more

Walked in one day with my family after eating our weight in bun bo hue and was definitely not disappointed. There's an extensive menu and my family ended up getting different smoothies to try while we waited for our mochi donuts. The service was pretty average and the wait for the mochi donuts was a bit long but worth it in the end. We ordered two donuts of each of their flavors (strawberry, cookies n cream, plain, sugar, and churro). The donuts were hot and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The inside is almost goey but still has that mochi texture. They were sooo good I can't wait to come back! read more
The donuts are amazing. I got the calamari this time with donuts. The calamari was disgusting. I think calamari, I think nice chewy flavorful. These were very crispy like chips and no flavor whatsoever. No seasoning no nothing. Was $8.75 and had to pay 85cents for some sauce which should be included. Would not recommend the calamari, only donuts. read more

I was wondering do you not take Togo order? Every time I call it's like no we can't take orders or can't pay over the phone. One day is ok I can take cc over the phone. So what is it. Plus the girl that answer the phone can be any rudder. 🖕🏻
In my experiences, they used to take to-go orders but they don't do it anymore. They don't let people order ahead of time anymore as well. Hope that helps!
