Came here because I saw coconut ube mochi donut and wanted to try. They didn't have coconut ube flavor this time but the freshly made mochi donuts simply blew my mind. It must be something unique about a fresh mochi donut because it's different than Mochill & Mochinut. All the baked goods are made to order so there can be a bit of a wait for your donuts. But it was definitely worth the wait. Price was very reasonable as well - 4 for $10. We got churro, black sesame, strawberry and cookies and cream. The donuts came out piping hot and fresh. The flavored glazed was smooth and creamy. The donut was both fluffy and perfectly chewy. We ranked the flavors 1) black sesame 2) cookies and cream 3) churro and 4) strawberry. Strawberry is last because it was a little sweet for us, and the glaze was harden and not as creamy. They have a large menu with lots of savory and sweet snacks: chicken gizzards, wings, crepe, masaladas, smoothies, etc. There aren't a lot of seating though, but I guess most patrons got goods to go. Came here last night only for the mochi doughnuts, totally worth it. They have different flavors each day but there's a sign that will let you know which ones are in. Covid-19 Review 01/06/21 Stopped by to grab some mochi donuts for my coworkers. They are sold for $2.50 each or 6 for $12 or 12 for $24. Options included: Oreo, strawberry, green tea, fruity pebbles, and ube. I prefer fruity pebbles and Oreo and found the green tea flavor to be a bit overpowering, but I would recommended trying it. The ube was alright but I felt that a lighter pastel purple would be more inviting than a dark purple shade for the frosting. Service was quick at the time I visited. So late to the hype but finally tried mochi donuts! Since it was my first time, I have no comparison but I have to say I was expecting better? I expected it to be a bit stretchier and chewier, but it was rather tough. Ordered from favorite to least favorite, I had the strawberry, honeydew sugar, and matcha. The gritty texture of the matcha was very offputting. I liked the honeydew sugar but would've enjoyed it even more if it were a glaze. There were 10 flavours in total but they rotate! Two words: MOCHI DONUT! La Crème Cafe makes each mochi donut fresh after you place your order. I only had to wait about 5 minutes for it to be ready. Now I understand the hype. The donuts are light but have enough chewiness to them for you to tell they're mochi donuts. They're not overly greasy either. My boyfriend and I had the churro flavor, which was delicious. BLESS that this cafe sells mochi donuts in the South Bay so that I don't have to wait for mo-do pop up or drive to SF. Their mochi donuts are better than the ones at Mochill in Japantown SF imo bc it's not oily at all. They make it fresh which is why it takes like 15-20 min for your order to come out. And they have a lot of flavor choices - matcha, strawberry, fruity pebbles, churro, cookies n cream, sugar, and plain (might be missing a flavor.. I forgot). It's $2 per donut but $21 if you buy 12, so I got 6 matcha, 2 cookies and cream, 2 fruit pebbles, and 2 churro bc my little brother absolutely loves mochi donuts lol. This review is for the mochi donuts only. We tried several flavors: Fruity Pebbles, Strawberry, Black Sesame, Churro, and Cookies and Cream. My favorite was the Strawberry...it wasn't too sweet and definitely had a nice, fresh strawberry flavor. The Churro and Cookies and Cream were also good, although I prefer a stronger cinnamon flavor profile for something named Churro. And while Fruity Pebbles wasn't too sweet, I'm not a fan of the texture of the crunchy cereal while biting into it. However, if you like the children's cereal, you will probably enjoy it. My least favorite was the Black Sesame. I like sesame oil and seeds in my savory foods, but the slightly unusual nuttiness from the sesame in a donut just didn't do it for me. From a chew perspective, I love mochi and did notice the subtle chewiness of the dough, but it was a little too subtle for me. The Creme Cafe does a little bit of everything - crepes, sandwiches, ice cream, noodles, all kinds of drinks but the main draw to this place has to be their mochi donuts! I was a little confused when I walked into the place since their display case only had one of each donuts. The cashier explained to me that they make all of their mochi donuts fresh per order so it would take 10-15 minutes to pop em out. That was fine by me. The have tiered pricing and getting the 6 donut option essentially gives you one free versus buying them individually. It also lets you try more flavors! Out of the flavors I tried, I would recommend the matcha and the black sesame for sure. The Asian flavors go so well with mochi. The churro and the sugar were also great but more basic. The strawberry I didn't care for as much and the icing looked a little thin to me. The mochi is really mixed in throughout the dough so it's not like you get chunks of mochi, the whole thing has that chewy mochi texture just fyi.
