On a Thursday morning around 7:00 they were deserted and it was super quiet. The man took my order right away and got right on it. You watch them prepare your food right in front of you. If you are in the downtown SF area this is a great place to grab a quick breakfast ur lunch. Mostly breakfast sandwiches, omelettes, and eggs with a few other items for breakfast. Lunch is mostly soup, salad, and sandwiches. The prices are not cheap, but are on line with post-COVID and inflation pricing. It is still half price what you will pay at your hotel or the other more expensive sit down restaurants in the area. A Satisfying Stop at Le Regency Deli We were returning to the office from a quick errand when we spotted Le Regency Deli and, feeling hungry, decided to share a breakfast sandwich. When we entered, we saw two men inside behind the counter. One, who I presume was the owner, was on the phone, so the grill man approached and took our order of ham and egg on a bagel. While waiting, I surveyed the space. It's long and narrow. As you enter, you'll find the counter displaying food on your left, with refrigerators containing canned and bottled soft drinks on the right. The dining area, with about 15 tables, and the restroom are located at the end. A few years ago, before COVID hit, this place bustled with the Financial District breakfast and lunch crowd, often having a line out the door. They even had outdoor seating. However, today, there were only a few patrons during our visit. The grill man prepared our breakfast bagel and handed it to us in a compostable box. It was generously layered with ham and topped with an egg. We strolled back to the office, took a bite of our respective halves, and both gave it a thumbs-up. Le Regency Deli also offers sandwiches, wraps, burritos, and salads, catering to those grabbing a quick bite during their lunch hour. This is a San Francisco treasure! Easily accessible from Chinatown, FiDi, Rincon Hill, Embarcadero, and the Ferry Building, there is something for everyone here for breakfast or lunch. Great place for breakfast and lunch. I stopped in early for some breakfast (everything bagel with cream cheese) and a sandwich to go for later (avocado and sprout veggie sandwich on wheat bread). I ordered and quickly got my food. The everything bagel had lots of cream cheese and the everything bagel tasted great. The veggie sandwich had fresh, crisp veggies and was very tasty. I'm in the Di-Fi and was looking for a quiet place to have a Zoom call. This store was empty and relatively peaceful. Bacon and Eggs with Coffee set me back $14. The potatoes and bacon got nuked and the eggs pan fried with butter. All good! Thin crispy bacon, well seasoned cubed potatoes, and perfectly over-easy eggs. The coffee was a fresh drip and robust. Decent breakfast place! It's a cute little place and the staff is super friendly and kind! They have a variety of sandwiches, breakfast items, drinks and snacks. I tried their omelette with ham with tomatoes, spinach and potatoes. It's like making a subway sandwich. They are pretty quick which I like because I got to get to work and prices are cheap and portions are big. I love when my assumptions are wrong. It teaches me to open my eyes a little more. I walked by this place so many times, assuming it was just an average personality-less coffee shop. But when I stepped in this morning, Le Regency kept giving me reasons to like them. I normally don't comment on decor, but this place has personality: Framed vintage European ads, Red accent walls, Exposed pipes, An oversized red wooden bench in the front of the store just screams to be sat in. They have very friendly service with lots of regulars, which is a good sign. In fact when a customer walked in, the woman behind the counter said, "Let me guess...". She then proceeded to recite his "regular" order, to which he responded "That's right!" Awesome. Le Regency makes Le Good Sandwichi. My personal favorite is their pastrami. Um, yeah, it ain't Katz's in New York but it's pretty darned good for a west coast pastrami sandwich. There is nothing redeeming about the lunch I just forced myself to consume. Cajun shrimp salad: 5 shrimp, 3 tomato wedges, 1 egg, 1/4 brown avocado and a whole lot of iceberg lettuce. Shrimp, despite the cajun seasoning, were bland and rubbery. Iceberg lettuce does not belong in a salad. At least put some romaine into a salad that costs $8.95. Vegetable soup: tasted rotten.
