Had dim sum on a Saturday. Overall a solid experience for dim sum in the area. Menu is pretty extensive with all your dim sum favorites. Flavors and freshness are pretty good. Portion size is good. I'm a big fam of siu mai, and the sticky rice in the leaf, both of which were solid here. Service can be a little bit inconsistent. This time it was a bit on the slow side. There was about a 20 min wait as well, but overall experience was pretty reasonable. They also have tents outside in their parking lot as an option too. This review is for Sunday dim sum. Solid 4 stars in my opinion. We arrived at 11:30 am on a Sunday morning, right at the peak of any dim sum restaurants busy hours. There was plenty of parking in the area, even at this time. As a small party of 2, we were sat within 15 minutes. Larger parties were waiting about 20-30 minutes. There are no more carts, instead items are made to order and brought out by servers on large trays. You fill out a menu card complete with a full picture menu - helpful if you're not sure of what you're looking for, and be sure to get a waiters attention as soon as you're done. The dim sum is fresh and made to order. I'd say the quality of the food is very good, better than average, but nothing really stood out as outstanding. Lei's fulfilled our dim sum craving and I would recommend this place and already have a date set for coming back. Wait staff is attentive and prompt. Food is decently priced and comes to your table hot and fresh. The variety is very good and you're sure to find your favorite Cantonese dim sum delights. read more

The quality of the dim sum is decent, it's nothing to brag about, if in the area, sure would return, but wouldn't make a special trip here. It's nothing too worthwhile. Ordered the basics, and nothing necessarily stood out, whether it was the steamed dishes or the baked ones. They don't do rolling carts here, you order from the table by marking the selections you want to order. The service is decent, they were attentive and refilled the teapot when necessary. Food is good. Tried both Dim Sum for lunch and Dinner. The price is on higher side in my opinion. I noticed they put 15% service fee although it was dim sum for party of 3. I am sorry but what kind of "service" do you provide for pre-order Dim Sum lunch. Just bring food out and take empty dishes away without saying anything. This is both good and bad -- you can find all the less common items, and items tend to come very fresh and hot, but it can also take awhile for someone to take your order and for the items to be prepared. Unfortunately it our case, it took almost 15 minutes before anyone came over and took our menu. This was pretty strange, but may be due to us being tucked away in a corner table behind a wall. We were really hungry after waiting to place our order and then waiting for the food to arrive. To our disappointment, several of the items were pretty bland and unspectacular. The ribs were very tender and all came clean off the bone, but they had very little flavor. The sauce for the rice roll was also very mild, we had to really dip/mix/soak it up to get the flavor. Finally, the roasted pork was really tough and hard to chew. Overall, the food was pretty average and the service was slightly frustrating. Last I was here about 20 years ago. Owner and name changed quite a bit and didn't go back in a while. My friend recommended it and so I gave it a try. Definitely did not disappoint. We went right at opening to bed there weren't carts going up and down the aisle but we ordered at the table and food came out hot and fairly quick. Their dim sum is solid, and our dinner yesterday went without a hitch. We had a party of 8 and ordered one of the 10 person set courses (family style of course), and everything was delicious. The Peking duck, lobster, and pineapple buns were our favorites, and the steamed live fish a close second. We were quite hungry and the 15-20 minute wait (around noon) = we order 17 dishes and 1 dessert (Mango Pudding) for the kids. Food: 3.5/5. Average to above average. I think it's similar to the frozen ones you can buy at Ranch. I expect Dim Sum places to have hand made food vs buying from factory and just flash fry it. Service: 2/5. Place was busy, no smiles from staff, no refill of drinks until many attempts to flag people down. No one ever check on how we were doing. Waiting for checks, waiting again for take home boxes. If you want to eat outside, there a ton of individual tents which I thought was very smart/safe. Inside dining is also available and I thought the spacing between each table was pretty wide. Did not feel claustrophobic at all as the restaurant itself is really big. 2.) A TON of parking. Street parking is available right outside the restaurant as well as their dedicated parking lot in the back. 3.) The menu has pictures for each item. If you don't know what it's called but you know what it looks like, Lei Garden has got you covered. 4.) Service is really top-notch. I felt the waiters were attentive and they got our order correct. No complaints here. THE MEH: 1.) I'm a bit hesitant to say this but I would say the food is just alright. Compared to Dim Sum places like Mayflower, Dynasty, etc., the dim sum is good but nothing mind blowing. Have been here a couple times during COVID. Overall, a very solid dim-sum place albeit fairly expensive (but so is everything else in the bay area). We arrived on a Sunday noon with 12 people ahead of us and were seated within 30 minutes, because they have a lot of outdoor seating. In typical authentic Chinese fashion, the service is rude (okay not really, just curt and the servers are very busy) and the food is excellent. They don't really hand-hold you through the ordering process, so if you don't speak Cantonese or Mandarin I recommend coming with someone who can so the experience isn't so intimidating (the menu has english translations though, and you can mark on the menu what you want to order). We ordered some classics: har gao, shu mai, sesame balls, fried shrimp balls, chicken feet, shrimp rice rolls, Dried sticky pork + shrimp + rice wraps, pan fried shrimp + chive dumplings, and sauted stirng beans, and the coconut pudding bunnies for laughs. Everything was delicious and flavorful. This is enough to feed 2 guys and 2 girls so that everyone was pretty sated, though if you are here with 4 guys you'll probably want to order about 30% more food. I would not recommend the crab meat dumpling soup though, it's not very yummy (had that last time I came here). If I had any complaints, it would be that it's very pricey. Siu Miu dumplings had pork and shrimp inside. Not too oily or salty. Tea is $1.50 per person so can add up and be of little value if you are not going to drink much tead. A tip of 15% was automatically added to our receipt. It's easy when paying by credit card to overlook that and add tip on top of that. It is one of the more pricer dim sum restaurants, but the quality is always good. This place tends to get busy so it depends on luck for how long the waiting list can be on the weekend. Worst service and rudest waiters I've ever met. They start cleaning the table and floor when we are still eating at 8:50pm, and addresed they closed at 9pm, but the Google Map shows 9:30. Growing up in the SF it was difficult finding good dim sum until we discovered Lei Garden. They offer a good selection and their prices are fair. Must try their shrimp and pork dumplings! Clean environment and the service is quick. read more

This place has some of the most delicious dim sums in the area, but I'm giving it a 4 star instead of 5 because the portions are small and quite pricy. They don't take reservations and usually have a long line on the weekends, so be sure to come early or prepare to wait. I haven't really tried their hot food as I usually come here for their dim sum, but I can say that their dim sum is authentic and very tasty. My favorites are the shrimp dumpling, the hand pulled rice noodle, pork ribs, xlb, sesame bun, BBQ pork buns, and egg yolk lava bun. Came in and order a few dishes, see photo. staff was friendly and taking good Covid precautions. To eat outside, actually need to check in on the far side of the restaurant, furthest away from Stevens creek, Not in front of the restaurant. That front area is for pickup only. Got seated pretty quickly, table area clean, got menu to mark with pen, then staff came to collect the menu to place the order. Food pretty good, but not as good as some other dim sum places.
