What is this!? A new Levain!? Okay, well not that new, I just haven't been to the area in a while. So my inner Yelper dictated that I try the new shop to see if it lives up to the Levain name. After the fact, someone told me that the new shop has more offerings than the half-basement, closet-sized original spot. That said, there is only one thing I get at Levain, the cookies. Well, on that front, the new is just as good as the old. In fact, one of the cookies we got was so fresh it didn't stay together. The cookies were as fantastic as ever and are still THE thing to get. The new space is a wise move. I appreciate that it is just around the corner from the original spot but has much more space. Even so, on a nice Saturday afternoon, the line was out the door. It was a quick moving line with four or five cashiers at any given moment. While the new location makes sense, I will forever have a soft spot for the original. Five stars for the cookies. read more

TLDR: massive cookies that are served soft, warm, and delicious; pretty difficult to eat in one sitting given how large / rich they are Came here on a Saturday afternoon while waiting for a table at a nearby brunch spot. Given that my friend and I were pretty hungry, we thought we could use a pre-brunch snack. The bakery is pretty small with limited table space and the majority of standing space occupied by a constant queue of people. Despite the long queue, the cashiers were pretty efficient and the line moved quickly. I ordered a small coffee and a dark chocolate chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was massive, warm, rich, and buttery. While I didn't want to ruin my appetite for brunch, I couldn't stop eating the cookie and quickly ate half of it without realizing. I was pretty full after this and saved the other half for later. These cookies are worth the hype and you should swing by if you find yourself in the UWS or place an order for delivery. read more

Have been coming here since they opened this location. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Every time i come for a cookie I end up walking out with more because some of their other stuff is on that same level. Cookie wise that oatmeal raisin is just out of this worldly. read more

So, so good! I'm sad that I won't be back in NYC anytime soon, but if I'm ever back again I will for sure be stopping by at Levain. I had their chocolate chip walnut cookie at the store and brought home the dark chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies. They stayed good after walking around for a few hours and then a 3 hour plane ride. Perfect amount of crisp on the outside and moist on the inside! I kept some in the fridge for about a day and they were still moist. If I had to choose my favorites they would be chocolate chip walnut and oatmeal raisin! read more

If you like chunky, rich cookies this is your spot! I love this new outpost. It's clean, open and rarely crowded. I frequent this location to grab cookies for friends as gifts. I'm giving this 4 stars because I personally prefer eating lighter, chewy nut-free cookies (their chocolate chip has walnuts). read more

These. Are. The. Best. Cookies. Ever. Ever. I'm a cookie eater (not super into ice creams or other sweets) and this place blows my mind consistently. They're $4 worth of DELICIOUSNESS. I highly recommend the chocolate peanut butter flavor. PRO-TIP: ask for one warm! They have some in the back for people who specifically ask for them. So worth it. read more

Go at an odd hour and just get these damn cookies. Everyone gets the chocolate chip walnut which is amazing but the dark chocolate chocolate was unexpectedly mouth watering. Rich but not overly sweet. The line is going to be long (though they recently opened up another location around the corner so try both and hope for the best) but it's filled with tourists and locals alike. Hoping they expand down to the lower half of the island soon. read more

Well nothing new to add here. If you've not been here- you're missing it! Their walnut chocolate chip is the best in my opinion. I have tried a couple others like the double chocolate and oatmeal which are good on their own accord but the walnut chocolate chip is just irresistible. read more

This was my first time at this new-ish location and it was great! There was no line on a beautiful and hot Saturday afternoon. I had a huge order, 1 box of 16, 2 boxes of 6 and 1 box of 4. The man who took my order was polite, smiled and got everything boxed in a timely manner. I also ordered a cold brew and iced tea, my total came out to $134 (the most I ever spent on cookies). Word to the wise, these cookies are HEAVY! I had a difficult time carrying the shopping bag bc it weighed like 50lbs. The Uber driver actually thought I went shoe shopping and was shocked when I said it's all cookies LOL. Each cookie costs $4 but they are HUGE. I can only finish 1/2 a cookie at once. The cookies are moist and delicious. My favorite is the Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip but their signature Chocolate Chip Walnut is amazing as well. These cookies stay fresh for a few days so no need to eat them all at once, you can devour them slowly. Definitely check out this location if you are in the area. read more

Due to the reviews I thought I was stepping into cookie heaven but perhaps my expectations were too high. The cookie was delicious. I really enjoy cookies that are super soft and moist inside. Was it the best cookie I ever had in my life? No. It was so rich I couldn't even finish it. I would buy it again if I am in the area but will not go out of my way to get these cookies. gotta love it when the cookies are hot and the chocolate is melting as you eat it! my favorites are the chocolate/walnut and the double chocolate! No wait either and they even had some stools/benches to sit while eating. If I wasn't in a hurry, I would love to open a bottle of milk and just dunk/eat the cookie right there. I ordered 8 chocolate walnut cookies and noticed that the quality and size had changed. They have less walnuts, when before it was full of them and it is definitely smaller now. I am very disappointed considering I was a big fan. Maintaining quality standards seems to be a consistent problem once businesses become popular. read more

We've actually just moved right next to this bakery! We do love the accessibility, and the various bakes. The flatbreads are heavy, and cheese dense - make sure you are sharing or super hungry! The artichoke and classic are their most popular. The cookies are their speciality, the walnut and chocolate is large, gooey, and generous. The chocolate choc chip is super rich and sweet! These cookies are really worth all the hype! I went to this location on a Friday night around 6:30pm and was only on line for 5 minutes. I got 1 Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip, 1 Chocolate Chip Walnut, and 1 Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip. They are all soooo yummy and wildly filling. This is definitely something you want to share. I've had this bakery on my food-bucket list for awhile and was finally able to make the trip while I was in town from Chicago. Definitely, defiantly worth it. My group got the chocolate chip walnut, double chocolate chip, and the chocolate peanut butter cookies and they were all amazing. Gooey chewy warm and the freshest cookies I've ever had. Tasting one of these cookies should be an item on every New Yorker's (and non-New Yorker's) bucket list. They're perfectly crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. First time visiting and got the classic Chocolate Chip Walnut cookies. It would have been tastier if I'd gotten it warm! The portion is huge so be ready to free up some calorie count for the day. Levain is amazing and you have to get some cookies at least once. I know the line can be daunting but honestly i would kill for a treat during this covid time. Not open sadly but totally understandable! Can't wait til they open back up so I can buy these huge expensive cookies haha! I need to try their bread and coffee as well. Tired of waiting outside, facing the extreme heat or cold? Wait no longer! I've been to the smaller, original Levain location before. Today, I was originally lining up at the original location, but one of the workers came outside to lead half the line to their new, bigger, air conditioned location. My family and I got a tomato and parmesan pizza, a whole wheat walnut raisin roll, a cold brew, a dark chocolate peanut butter chip cookie, and a chocolate chip walnut cookie. This all totaled to around $21. The pizza was nothing special or memorable. For $8, I doubt I would get it again. The whole wheat walnut raisin roll was pretty good. I'm sure almost everyone comes to Levain for the cookies though. Out of the two cookies we got, I liked the dark chocolate peanut butter more, but that might be my own personal bias towards peanut butter. One disappointment with the cookies were that they were cold and not warm. The first time I went to Levain, I remember the cookies being hot. I don't know if it's because it's a new location, but I felt cheated out of a warm cookie. Other than that, the cookies really are that good. Thick and gooey on the inside, with a slight crisp on the outside, you really can't go wrong. Each cookie is $4, but it's totally worth it because each cookie is equivalent to the size of around 4-5 cookies. This new location is a great addition to Levain, but I hope the cookies will be warm in the future. read more

I've gone to Levain for years. It's really disappointing but I continue to get experiences where the staff pulls cookies from the trays in the front stuck with prices. I ask how long they've been there and they're response is "it's baked fresh everyday". This happened a few times to customers in front of me too. Pretty sad this awesome bakery is becoming a place where their customers aren't getting the quality they loved for years so much. read more

Second Upper West Side outpost of the legendary bake shop. Cookies are as excellent as the other location, but the space is bigger and brighter. Reminds me a bit of the Pret a Manger outposts around the city. Service here is super friendly and patient too. I never felt rushed in the slightest bit as I placed my order. They packed the cookies for me in a signature white box with a blue ribbon. There wasn't a large crowd when I went but they do seem well equipped to handle a large bunch of cookie-hungry customers. Given its location and size I would probably make this my go-to place to pick up some delicious Levain cookies. read more
