Amazing? No. Solid? Yes. When ever I get pizza delivered this is my place. The pizza is consistent. The regular pizza can be greasy, perfect hangover meal. The Margherita isn't greasy and perfect choice if you just have a pizza craving. The calzones are ok and pasta the same. The buffalo wings are surprisingly good. This is a take out review only! Their pizza is so good- their crust is thin and crispy, the vodka slice is a great alternative to margarita or plain. Their pizza is always fresh- never old looking. Also, their meatballs are amazing. I order a side which comes with three large meatballs and lots of marinara sauce. I go home boil a little pasta and voila- dinner! I've been ordering from Libretto's for years and they never disappoint. I usually order wings and their delicious chopped salad. I ask how long the delivery order will take, and they answer "30 minutes". Sure enough, 30 minutes later the order arrives. They are always efficient when taking my order as I'm already in their system and it's pretty seamless. Tonight I ordered 24 wings with mild sauce and a small margherita pizza. My nephew wanted the wings mild (he's young, I'll train him) so I asked for extra hot sauce on the side. The order arrived without the extra hot sauce and I really didn't feel like eating mild wings, so I called back, and mentioned that if the delivery guy was in my neighborhood again, to please have him drop off the hot sauce (I felt bad having him make a special trip just for this small item). The guy who answered the phone insisted that the delivery guy swing by anyway with the extra hot sauce. Ten minutes later, he appeared, sauce in hand, and tried to refuse my tip (which I insisted he take!). I chose this place because their prices seemed cheaper than many other pizza places nearby. However their prices would be considered reasonably priced in other places. I was considering the grandma pizza but I ended up going for the traditional price. If the pizza was just $8 for a cheese pizza. But I got like 5 toppings so it was about $18 (3 all over and 2 toppings was on half). When i saw the pizza it seemed small. I was really hungry so typically everything tastes good but I couldn't even finish my slice. The sauce was very bland. The crust was thin and not crispy--I didn't really mind it. Overall it was okay. I felt like Pizza Hut and Dominos would've tasted better than this, but this is NYC. Or maybe it's just because I'm a bit picky? Some people said there were salt shakers and Parmesan cheese shakers to put on their slice but I ordered delivery so I just had the pizza which was bland by itself. I really am not the kind of person that takes the time to review restaurants. But man..This place just drove me nuts. 10 minutes ago, I go into Libretto's to get a slice of pizza. The pizza guy behind the counter puts my slice in the oven for 5 minutes. Insane amount of time for a slice to warm up. I finally go to him, "Buddy, think you can take my slice out of the oven now?". Knowing my slice is ruined from being in there so long. It comes out..The tip is black, burnt. He takes out a bag like that's fine. I grab the slice and it's a rock. I say "Think you can give me a slice that's SOFT on the bottom? Like pizza should be?". He says nothing. Not "I'm sorry". Nothing. Puts in another slice for 15 seconds,. takes it out, like it's ready. This place is just awful. Terrible service, mediocre food. Never again will I go here. The workers make you feel like crap. So I had to join Yelp just to leave a review of this excellent place. I was visiting from the UK with work, and met up with some friends who recommended this place. Obviously start with the food, great generous portions, manages to stay authentic while being packed with flavour. We ate like kings for only $30 a head, which is mega cheap compared to the prices I normally pay in the US, especially for this kind of quality. Finally, I need to give exceptional praise to the staff, warm, welcoming, and attentive. Even had a chat about gaming with the owner who has managed to assemble a great team of staff, and does his job credit by really being involved. 5*, can't wait til I'm in town on business again just to treat myself. read more

Note to all, read RECENT reviews. This place must have come under new management because I've only ordered from them during the past few months and they're wonderful. Delivery isn't the fastest, but they state the correct delivery time online so one really can't complain. The pizza is great, and the wings are even better. Seriously, these babies are GOOD. Probably my favorite pizza place in Murray Hill. Good pizza, not terribly expensive, lots of options, and consistently friendly service. They have lots of tables, booths, and even a bar facing the window so you can people watch on 3rd Ave. while you enjoy your slice. Tip for locals - they have a punch card: after your 10th slice of pizza, you get a free slice. I love places like that! read more

Solid pizzeria in Murray Hill. Nice space, but most of it is devoted to table service. There are 5 stools in the front for grabbing a slice or two. The plain pizza was unremarkable. This is the best pizza parlor in Murray hill, if not all of third ave. Libretto's clean, dimly- lit interiour with roomy booths and a suprisingly intimate atmophere was desgned to make you want to stay and enjoy a whole pizza. I believe that they are going to be adding more than just pizza to thier menu, as this pizza parlor looks and feels more like a restuarant. Nice decor makes it a pleasant place to sit down for lunch (can be a bit tough; some tables are reserved for waiter service). Fantastic lunch specials wedge Libretto's into my rotation for more than just the pizza...Choice of pasta dish (vodka sauce, bolognese, alfredo, etc) w/ field greens salad and a soda (w/ refills) for $9, chicken dish w/ pasta etc. for $12 was a great surprise at a place I already liked a lot for pizza. And you get a bread basket too! Excellent sauces, perfectly pounded chicken parm, and the portions were a couple of bites more than you really need for a midweek lunch...to me, that's a perfect portion. Granted, we were starving, had been up for over 36 hours, having taken a redeye from the west coast. But the pizza was sooo good. Went for lunch on a Friday at around 1:30pm. It was still a bit busy and there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant. I understand that with small businesses - staffing is pricey, but another waitress at least for the lunch rush would be a bit more helpful. Although the waitress / manager / cashier was extremely pleasant, she was hard to tackle down when we needed things such as more bread or napkins. Ordered the lunch special which is $8.95. It comes with a side salad, fountain soda (refills) and the penne with vodka sauce. I requested for whole wheat penne and they accomodated me for $1 extra. The salad was great, mesclun greens, tomatoes and a huge shaved piece of parmesan cheese. The best thing about the salad that it was tossed very well with a light vinagrette and it was not a sopping mess. The past was amazing. Al Dente and the sauce was well absorbed in the dish. They provided extra bread for the sauce and I cleaned my plate well. My coworkers ordered the spinach ravioli and it was a generous portion. For the price in the end it was such a great deal for lunch. Also the decor was very comfy, cozy almost with a mahogany and brick background. I'd come several more times since I work not too far away. Worth a good lunch hour. Only minus which is why I gave three stars is that on my way out, I ordered an Italian Icy and the serve who gave me my treat also was rolling garlic knots and preparing dough for the pizza. Great neighborhood pizza place with beer and wine too. Service is friendly. Booths are spacious and tables are new/clean. Tv's are ample but not imposing. The marg pizza has good flavor with fresh sauce and fresh mozzarella. The house salad even has shaved parm. The only constructive criticism I can offer is that some of the booth seats need restuffing or covering. I prefer linen napkins but I'll let paper fly for a good neighborhood spot like this. Service was poor from the beginning, and the bad pizza is unacceptable. From start to finish, it was a bad experience. I put in a pick-up order, to which they said it would be be ready in 20 minutes. I arrive 17 minutes later, and they just started to prepare the pie. I expressed my frustration to the gentleman at the counter, who seemed to be the owner of the place (short and somewhat balding gentleman), and he says that he technically has 3 minutes. Ten minutes later, in a total of 27 minutes, I walk out with my pepperoni pie. I get home and finish a slice, and I thoroughly disappointed - the dough was mushy and the cheese is now starting to give me an upset stomach. I only live 2 blocks away, so I can't attribute the mushiness to the pizza being in the box, nor can I attribute my queasiness to a weak stomach, as I have a stomach made a steel. I frequently order from Librettos and the pizza is good, thin crust with Spinach and Ricotta or Pepperoni and Mushroom. They use fresh ingredients which is a plus. The three star review is mostly for the slices, the pizza does sit there for a while and even though they heat them up, it's just not as good as a fresh pizza out of the oven. If you're ordering a whole pie I'd highly recommend, but one or two slices are for a quick stop on the way home... not for the best pizza in NY. read more

After a day in NYC, we ordered some pizza from our Son's apartment. In the past, we had ordered from Libretto's Pizza and decided to try them again. Why is it that you always get screwed on take-out?delivery? We ordered a Meat Lovers and a Cheese pie with basil, a side of grated cheese and a pepperoni Calzone with sauce. It was delivered within the 30 minutes time span that was stated which is very good. The Calzone was missing the extra cost sauce and there was NO grated cheese. Unless everything is correct, the quality of the delivered meal will fall. No grated cheese or sauce for the Calzone is a failure. If you stood your ground, the meal would be totally ruined. Why didn't wait for a redelivery of sauce for the Calzone? It would take too long. So the next time we are shorted on our order, it will be sent back, cancelled and we'll do something else! As Joe Pesci stated in Lethal Weapon-you always get F**d on the drive in-also true for take out/delivery. read more

This pizza meets the NYC slice expectation. Not a place for ambience or frills, but if you want a slice of thin crust pizza, Libretto's is good to go. Deserves better than it's current Yelp rating. I got takeout pizza from Liberetto's recently and was pretty disappointed. We tried the whole wheat San Gennaro pie with sausage, peppers, and onions and it was soggy with a very sweet taste. Edit: I am giving 5 stars because the delivery guy consistently came within 35 minutes time frame in many large margarita pizza orders here to Tudor City. Pizza came very warm every time. The only wish is that there are times the pizza doughs taste better than others - I hope it was perfect all the time (: I went to Pazzo Pizza a lot from Tudor City, so after Pazzo Pizza disappeared, I came here - same owner. But since I gave Pazzo Pizza 5 starts this place has to be 4. Pizzas just dont taste as good as that of Pazzo Pizza. Dough tastes not as good, tomato sauce tastes not as good as that of Pazzo Pizza. I realized that pizzas have very wide crust. The only pizza I order from Libretto's is Magaretta Pizza. Eggplant pizza came in bad shape multiple times with bad eggplants and with no basils. I still order their pizza because I really like this italian style pizza that is not available else where. I recommend this pizza, a bit pricey, if you want to taste this very unique and tasty pizza! read more
