Came here for some pizza slices yesterday and was very satisfied with the prompt friendly service and the quality of my food. I ordered a slice of salad pizza which was full of flavor, the salad dressing on the side complimented my slice and was great for dipping my crust. They were not stingy with the avocado and that's always a huge plus. My son had the meat lovers slice which he said was tasty enough and plenty to keep him filled up until we had dinner in the evening. We will definitely be back whenever we're in the neighborhood. I mean this place is pretty special. They have an incredible amount of pizza types - vegetarian and meat lovers both welcomed. I generally always get the "world famous" salad pizza which just makes me SO happy to be honest. It makes me feel a litttttle less guilty about having pizza. It consists of avocado, romaine lettuce, a little sour cream, diced tomatoes (I hate tomatoes but these don't bother me for some reason), crumbles of cheese and more. The crust is always super crunchy and they give you a spicy chipotle sauce to dip it in. My friend always gets the Bianca and honestly they all just look special. Only thing keeping this from five stars is the price - one slice of salad pizza will cost you about $7. The slices are large, but not huge. Other specialty slices are about $6 after tax. There are some spots to sit inside and they have two stand up bars outside because inside gets very crowded. It's right on Abbott Kinney so the people watching is also spectacular. read more

I stopped in to pick up a couple slices to-go. There isn't much space inside and the place was very busy with customers. I was impressed with how quickly and politely the employees were and moved the line along. I recommend calling your order in if you want a whole pie and plan to eat your food elsewhere even if it's just slices you are getting unless you are lucky enough to grab a spot at a stool near the small bar-top area along the wall. They had 2 large glass cases with about 9 different types of pizza in each one! It all looked fresh and tempting. They have traditional toppings, but they also have a variety of pizzas such as Salad Pizza, Five Onion Pizza, Chicken Curry Pizza and Spicy Chicken Pizza just to mention some. I decided to go simple this first time with a cheese slice and it was so good that I'll definitely be back to try some of the other creations! Cheese Slice ($3.80 including tax) - The crust was thin and had the right about of crispness to it. The sauce tasted ah-mazing! They didn't skimp on the cheese and it was just a really good slice. I saw all of that and more ... on the floor at my feet. It's not a good sign when the floor of the dirty restaurant has more toppings than the pizza. Nope, not at all. It's been a long time since I've been in a place that just had leftover food & trash in mounds on the floor plus on tables, chairs & even the wall. It was really kind of disgusting. Abbot's Pizza Co. was busy and clearly they had no time to clean the place because of the line of people ordering the pizza. That's how popular the pizza is. We finally got to the front and ordered 3 of Abbot's house specialties from the pre-made options. Each was heated and indeed tasted yummy (as long as I didn't look down, up, or around to see the mess). A slice of Spicy Chicken Pizza with Tequila Lime Marinated Chicken, Jalapeno Slices, Mozzarella, and Tomato Sauce was my favorite. It almost didn't even taste like "pizza." Olivia loved her Gypsy Pie with Ricotta & Mozzarella with Spinach, Mushrooms, Onions, and Tomatoes with an Olive Pesto Sauce. The Ricotta was cool, but the Olive flavor overwhelmed the others for me. Finally, we split a slice of the thin Cheese Bomb Pizza with a blend of Parmesan, Romano, Fontina, Gouda, Ricotta & Mozzarella Cheeses married with an Alfredo Sauce. The Cheese Bomb sounded more explosive than it turned out to be. For 3 slices and 2 waters, our bill was just over $16. After we ordered, we noticed lots of people getting pizza with salad on top. It looked better and I was envious. I'd be interested in trying that version if there is a next time. This is the best pizza that delivers to the Mar Vista area. The crust is delicious and perfect. It is in no way like dominos... the cheeses are so tasty and sauces and toppings are so great. Try a plain cheese it is magical - or go wild with the Popeyes chicken pizza, it's actually my favorite. Abbot's is most definitely unique. This has to be the best take out pizza place in Los Angeles because not only is the pizza sublime, their selection of toppings and pizza crusts is amazing. For you vegetarians: Among their most popular offerings is the salad pizza: pizza topped with mixed greens, avocado and tomato dressed with olive oil and lemon. One of my very favorite's is their "Wild Mushroom Pizza" which consists of Portobello, Oyster, Button and Shitake Mushrooms, with Parmesan, Romano and Mozzarella Cheeses on an Olive Pesto Sauce. The Five Onion Pizza is really yummy and so is another favorite of mine which is the "Cheese Bomb" which is Parmesan, Romano, Fontina, Gouda, Ricotta, Mozzarella cheeses with Alfredo Sauce. Devastatingly good. They have crust that is bagel style - you can get sesame or poppy seed, onion, garlic, hot-crust or "The Blend". I usually opt for the blend. You can also order your pizza with a thin crust. They have a great salad filled with all sorts of ultra fresh veggies and olives, then topped with a nice, light Italian salad dressing, not at all like the ubiquitous salad dressing that's so strong that it makes one cringe (really vinegary) *not a word, I know... But, take it from me, order the salad because I can't even imagine consuming their delectable pizza without it. Its just the perfect combination. It would be like a peanut butter sandwich without the jam, a Caesar Salad without Reggianno Parmesan or a President without a brain. This use to be my favorite pizza spot to come to!! It has changed drastically. The service use to be awesome and you didn't mind the long line, you would still get your items really fast. Times have changed and so have the employees. I still come here once in a while and recommend people to try it but it really has lost me. What I always order is the salad pizza. I love avocados and I think it's great having it on a pizza. If you love eating salads why not try the salad pizza. With many different types of crust you can order it by slice or get an entire pizza. The only problem with ordering per slice is that you won't be able to pick the type of crust you are getting. It is what they have and that is it. The price for the pizza is kind of pricey but almost everything in Venice isn't cheap. Salad Pizza for teh win. It's true. The Salad Pizza is indeed that good and that's actually probably going to be one of the first meals I have when I get back to LA next week because I miss it so. Sarah G. and I went and I ended up having three different kinds of pizza because I just really wanted to try everything and have a well-rounded view of the place. I have to say that I enjoyed the salad pizza the best and that I wasn't crazy about the onion pizza (just too much onion). I didn't know what the salad pizza was going to be like, only to find that it was a glorious invention that is probably a top ten invention of our time (following the iPhone, DVR, and a few other things). The crust on it was delish and I thought that it was just a brilliant pizza overall. One of my all time favorite things to do is to go to beach and absorb the calming sounds of the ocean. For me, a visit to the beach is NEVER complete without a stop at Abbot's Pizza Co in Venice to pick up some slices or if I am really hungry and I have friends with me, a whole pizza pie! To me, pizza and the beach go hand in hand. What makes Abbott's unique is their bagel crusted pie. They have a great variety of pizza slices to choose from. the ingredients are always fresh and no matter what slice I get I am always pleased with the quality. Most of the time, I am in a constant state of dilemma as to which yummy slice I should get. That cheese bomb thing is pure heaven and so is the pepperoni, and so is the BBQ chicken and so is the mushroom. Pretty much all the slices are heavenly. I really haven't had a bad slice yet! So yes, Abbot Pizza, is one of the few slices in Los Angeles that I have filed in the back of my head and for which slowly tauntes me until I give in and drive all the way over to the west side. Really, it's just too darn bad I am not a west sider or else I would be visiting this hole in the wall a lot more often. Honestly, if you're looking for a place to eat in Venice, just go to Gjusta. I was so excited to try this place since I saw that video on their salad pizza. We ordered two slices of the salad pizza, the athens, and the bianca and it came to a total of around $25. First off, the salad pizza is only okay. I'm sure the pizza that was in that facebook video was freshly cooked but here they just have all of their pizzas pre-made and serve slices. So the salad pizza was pretty cold since they can't warm it up. Also, it is basically impossible to eat! The salad kept sliding off and I had to keep putting it back on the pizza. It was a little bit overpriced as well since a slice is nearly $7. The athens and bianca were both underwhelming as well. Even though they were warmed up, you could definitely tell the slices had been out for a while. The athens also had no flavor to it, at least with the bianca the garlic sauce really shone through. I would honestly rather go to any sort of pizza chain than come here again. If you really want a good thin crust pizza, go to Lamonica's in Westwood. read more

Pizzzaaa!!! Stopped by after shopping on 3rd street promenade. It's located on a cute street with little shopping boutiques. It's a small hole in the wall, serving up big slices of pizza. After reviewing the menu, I decided on the salad pizza and the chicken curry pizza. The slices are huge and easy to share. It's around $4 for a specialty slice, which is super affordable. The salad pizza is basically a slice of dough topped with a salad, just like the name. I loved the avocado slices on top, but other than that, its nothing too special. The chicken curry slice came out nice and hot! It had chicken and pineapple, sprinkled with curry spice. It was really good!! Now onto the crust..it was sprinkled with sesame seeds and lemon poppy seeds. I really liked the flavor the seeds added. Lastly, the spicy sauce!! Get it!! It reminds me of a spicy in-n-out sauce! But my family members loved them. The crust was unusually flavorful with a bagel chew and seedy pops of crunch. It was not NY-style crust, but good. The slices were huge. If you have kids or have a small appetite, consider sharing. The ambience was hip yet not trendy, with loud music and a trough of condiments (parmesan, oregano, hot sauce, and more) along the eat-in counters. I think this is my go to place now! we got the salad pizza which is absolutely gorgeous btw. A huge vibrant salad with feta, avocado, mixed greens, and other vegetables. The perfect balance of acidity, umami, and sweetness! I love how large the slices are, but don't be fooled, you'll probably still want two slices. Overall, I have not been to the location because parking seems impossible, but the experience with delivery and the quality of the pizza was excellent! I always go outside of peak hours because the place is quite cramped and there isn't a lot of seating space inside or even standing space outside. We tried this place Sunday afternoon. My father had the BBQ Chicken pizza and absolutely loved it. My daughter had the Cheese Bomb, she inhaled it. My mother and I had the Salad pizza. They were visiting from out of town but had heard about the salad pizza and wanted to try it. The ladies at the register were very nice, however the men making pizzas were very rude. My mother's slice was supposed to be to go but wasn't. She told him that it was to go and he took the plate and handed her a box. When she got outside she saw that he had just taken the plate and flipped it upside down into the box dumping all of the toppings off. She had to wait in line again to get a new slice. Not really sure why everyone loves this place so much. I'd heard about it so I decided to check it out. The different types of pizza are interesting, but nothing I have never seen before. Their "Gourmet" pizzas are actually fairly common (like Hawaiian) and yet they do not accept substitutions. I understand the idea of not allowing a substitution on some crazy different pizza because you want people to try it and experience the entire thing, but if its common types of pizza, then who cares? It just seems like they don't want to make substitutions because they sell by-the-slice and allowing substitutions wouldn't allow them to make their pizzas beforehand. The slice was thin-crust, and OK, but nothing special at all. It was $4, and fairly large, so not a bad price. But I've definitely had better and cheaper. I also heard that they deliver to The Other Room, which is good since that place doesn't serve their own food. There is also nowhere to sit and there were homeless guys fighting about a bicycle and a dog... so that may have also added to the negative experience. But also made for a good story... so who knows? read more

Update: prices have gone up dramatically . Knocked a star for that. I generally very much like Abbot's. The pizza can be amazing. Abbot's would be better but for two reasons. The first is that you basically have to come around one to have a pick of slices. They are open at 11, however they don't start cooking the pizza until 11 and start with the basic cheese and pepperoni. The second thing is that sometimes the pizza sits out for a long time. They don't post or tell you when it was originally cooked. When they reheat it, it can taste like stiff cardboard if it's been sitting out for a while .
