The food here was EXQUISITE. We got really lucky and came during Restaurant Week in NYC and were able to get a 3 course meal for pretty inexpensive. Our waiter was very attentive, the fish was outstanding, the sorbet was magnificent, the salad was very fresh... I mean, 0 complaints here. I often like to give places 5 stars because I lean towards being nice, ha, but it's times like this where I think I should have given the other places 4 stars so this 5 star would stand out. Beautiful restaurant with very Greek color palettes. The crab cake was one of the best I'd had as it had less filler than average and generous amount of crabmeat that was legitimately "jumbo lumps." Nothing beats the real deal. The lobster pasta was also very good, though I wish the pasta was saucier. Since it's not an Italian restaurant, I'll give it a pass. The walnut sponge cake, not to be confused with the usual bouncy and airy sponge cakes, was on the denser and sweeter side, and the lavender ice cream that came with was very refreshing. I went for the lunch prix fixe with 3 others. Great location, convenient to get to, very large space, with attention to interior design detail. Looks upscale, but the environment isn't stuffy; my friends came in t-shirts and sneakers and didn't feel out of place. Service was great. Attentive, considerate, and helpful. The prix fixe is a great deal, and the entire menu reads 'tasty'. I had: Fried Calamari. Very nicely fried, perfect texture, presentation. Taste-wise, not so great. I needed to use the lemon slice. The dipping sauce was a watery tomato sauce which wasn't good at all. Organic Salmon. Very very good. Grilled with a great flavor, really great texture, and a big floret of broccoli on the side. Portokalopita. Perfect sweet treat. Orange & vanilla cake, honey, lavender ice cream. The cake was moist, just sweet enough, and the floral ice cream was a perfect match with it. Great end to a good lunch. I also had a lemonade, which was very tart, decent simple flavor, but if I realized it would cost me $7, I woulda stuck to my NY water, and sucked on the ice. Great place. Came here for a work event and was surprised at how delicious their dishes were! We started off with various appetizers. My favorite was the calamari and the Limani chips. The calamari were chewy and nicely fried in a light and well-seasoned batter. The Limani chips were definitely a fan favorite because we finished it really quickly. These chips were super thinly cut zucchini and eggplant that were lightly fried with a thick tzatziki sauce. While I've had these veggies thinly sliced, I haven't had it fried so appropriately that they were crispy but not burnt. For mains, I got one of the specials which was this fried branzino fish in an olive oil sauce. The boneless fish was tender and again well seasoned! For desserts, I enjoyed the baklava and the portokalopita, which was a vanilla cake with citrus flavors along with a honey ice cream and pistachio bites. The restaurant itself was big with dim lighting and a pool in the middle! There was a side room for bigger parties/private events with a projector. The serving is just enough to make you full and leaves room for dessert. My friend ordered the burger (I am not sure if that is the chicken or tuna -- sorry) but she was raving and loved it as well. I was very impressed with the food and ambiance of this beautiful restaurant. The reason I am giving it 4 stars is because it lacked in service. We stopped in for lunch and to be honest it must of been bad timing the server just left without letting us know someone else would be taking over . And after he left we didn't really have anyone come to the table until we waved them over . We were also asked if we wanted more bread for the hummus we said yes , waited and never received it ... once our dessert came we decided we wanted a coffee no one ever came over once to ask how everything was . We asked to order a cappuccino to go since we finished our dessert they said they don't have to go cups but could make it.... would have been better with our dessert. Beautiful restaurant in the center of NYC, white and blue color scheme portrays a Greek vacation without a flight oversea. Since we dined for summer RW, I knew the experience would be rushed and hurried, which was confirmed with the quickness of the server by clearing plates aw soon as the plate is cleaned (because the food was food) and the loud ambient sound with chatty clienteles and clearing of dishes and cutleries. Fried calamari was greaseless and paired with a savory and tart tomato-red pepper sauce, loup de mer was deboned cleanly and tasted fresh and light, seasoned with a touch of salt and pepper and salty capers. The portokalopita is a sweet orange vanilla slice of cake that was a bit too sweet, but the scoop of less than creamy lavender ice cream tempered it down. Runner was helpful and efficient. When it was time to pay, the waiter mixed my credit card with the next table and walked away. The other diner and I had to exchange our property and glad we double checked this mistake. More of a high end dinner. Biggest attraction is that it's steps away from the tree at Rockefeller center. Highly recommend the pre fixe for large groups. Comes with freshly toasted bread, Meze with hummus babaganoush, cheese spread, two types of salad, grilled vegetables to share. Each person chooses their own main course. Really hate to have to air this out because Limani has been great for lunch on past visits. However dinner last night was such a major disappointment. The food is, of course, great. The service unfortunately was not good. Our wait staff forgot to bring our cocktails- it took nearly 40 minutes and two follow up asks. They brought me a gin on the rocks instead of a gin and tonic. They also forgot our entree for about 40 minutes and it was cold when it arrived. Also the upsell efforts need to relax. The meal also took 3 hours which is ridiculous. People have things to do. Party of 3 was $750. For the price, the restaurant needs to figure out there service issues. Huge bummer, probably will not return. For Greek, go to Souvlaki GR for great food, casual ambiance, prices that aren't totally insane and excellent service. read more

Came here for a weeknight dinner - this is a convenient spot in midtown Manhattan to have a upscale-ish dinner. The restaurant is right in the heart of the Rockefeller Plaza so it might take a little bit of time to navigate and find since that area is a bit confusing. The restaurant is pretty large, I'd say it can fit ~100 guests. There's a large centerpiece in the restaurant which is an affinity pool / fish tank, the specialty here is their seafood. Our servers greeted us and was kind enough to show us their fresh food selection, we walked to the fresh fish display they have right near the kitchen and he gave us a quick overview of all the fish that's possible to order at MP. I wasn't feeling particularly adventurous though so opted for the regular menu items. I ordered the halibut with seasonable vegetables. The halibut was meaty and was topped with grilled vegetables - tomatoes, green bell peppers. The capers were particularly flavorable. For dessert, we got the karidopita which is a sponge walnut cake. The cake was on the sweeter side, soft though. What I really liked was the lavender ice cream, it was pretty pale looking so I thought it was vanilla ice cream maybe but when I took a bite the ice cream had a good balance of lavender, so refreshing! read more

Visited in April and absolutely loved Limani. I had never heard of this restaurant; we found it by chance walking around Rockefeller Plaza and a quick Yelp search confirmed we needed to eat here. Limani is an upscale Mediterranean with great vibe and service. Food was fresh and we enjoyed thoroughly. Most dishes are prepared in traditional Mediterranean style. We shared the grilled calamari, grilled octopus, and branzino. All 3 absolutely perfect. For side we shared the roasted potatoes which were a delight. For restaurant week, there are four appetizers and four main courses to choose from. Come for the ambience, stay for the food. The decor is tranquil and beautiful, reminiscent of a Mediterranean paradise by the sea. The infinity pool feature in the middle of the dining room is stunning! I had the lobster pasta and my partner had the sole. Both were delicious! The pasta had generous portions of succulent, fresh lobster in a tangy tomato based sauce and the Dover sole was tender as can be in a flavorful lemon butter sauce with capers. We arrived on time for our reservation (we had specifically requested seats by the pool feature) but had to wait over 20 minutes to be seated. The hostess was very apologetic, the chef came to check on us once we were seated, and the manager comped the drinks we had at the bar while waiting and threw in a round of free dessert drinks (a sweet and refreshing limoncello-like concoction). For the price point, this place wasn't worth it. I liked the atmosphere and lighting of the place and the service was good but the tuna I ordered was disgustingly salty. For $50 which is on the pricier side for tuna I was really annoyed. I always order tuna at seafood restaurants and have never ever had this problem. I was able to eat 2 bites and then gave the rest to my husband and I ate his swordfish. I understand that the tuna came with a sauce which helped cut the saltiness but I was amazed at how salty the fish was itself. I never eat beets but was eating them up just to get rid of the salty taste in my mouth. Finally, the cocktails for $20 were also just okay. read more

When was the last time you had a fantastic meal in a breathtaking atmosphere and with excellent, nearly personalized service? For my friend and I, it was this evening. I remember passing by Limani a couple months ago and standing outside, in awe of their pristine white, elegant decor. When my friend suggested Limani for our dinner plans tonight, it was a suggestion based on their $49 three course pre-fixe dinner menu which is offered in addition to their full menu (restaurant week menu also available this evening since it was the last day; therefore, three menus to choose from). We had early reservations (since the pre-fixe dinner runs until 6:30) and arrived by 6 p.m. At that time, the restaurant was fairly empty but I was struck by the beauty of the decor and took the opportunity to snap a couple photos. Limani is Greek Mediterranean with emphasis on seafood (and a selection of fresh fish on ice in full view). The service was over the top. We had about 3 different staff members checking in with us for the duration of our meal. My friend thought it was a bit too much. We already decided to go with the pre-fixe dinner menu. I would have chosen the restaurant week menu at $42, but octopus was not part of the first course selection. BTW, the waiter informed us that portion size for both menus were equal. Each course was quite generous. Here is what we ordered as we nibbled on fresh, crusty bread served with delicious Greek olive oil: 1st course--we both ordered the octopus. This was absolutely amazing. Thin slices of octopus prepared with julienned onions and bell peppers in a lemony, olive oil dressing and garnished with capers. A huge home run. 2nd course: My friend chose salmon and felt it was a bit undercooked. It seemed fine to me but she typically likes her meat and seafood well done. I selected the Dorado fish which was an entire sea bream deboned and prepared simply but very flavorful with lemon, olive oil and capers. It was served with a broccoli floret. I was overwhelmed by the portion size and very much satisfied with my selection. Recommend! 3rd course: My friend selected the baklava cake (note: she failed to see that there was a supplemental $5 charge for Baklava). The explanation that it was homemade didn't seem logical for the additional charge, but c'est la vie. My friend enjoyed it but said she tasted better. I chose the walnut cake served with a dollop of honey-lavender ice cream. This was delicious without being overly sweet. We ordered a glass of wine to accompany our meal (at $15 per glass) and I am still very full as I write this review. I think I enjoyed the meal and experience more than my friend although she was satisfied enough. I honestly could not find any missteps with my first time experience at Limani. And even though we chose the pre-fixe menu, we each paid $95 for our meal. It's definitely not considered inexpensive. In my opinion, I experienced a terrific meal, great service and stunning atmosphere. So well worth it especially in the heart of Rockefeller Center. Highly recommend especially if you love seafood. Would be a 3.5 star review (Yelp...we don't live in a integar world - can't be giving out amateur scores (one bite...everyone knows the rules)). My brother and fam (2 nieces) were coming into the Rockefeller area from Philly, and met them at Limani for a Saturday lunch. Fairly upscale atmosphere, but not pretentious and pretty accommodating for our somewhat fidgety 5 and 1 year olds in tow. We pretty much stuck to the lunch prix fix menu ($37 for app, entree, dessert). We pretty much ordered to share everything (3 orders, the kiddies were sharing). And we got: Apps: Mediterranean Mezze - Taramosalata, Tzatziki, Hummus, Ktipiti, Tiropita, Dolmades - with ample table bread and pita, this was quite the crowd pleaser! I particularly enjoyed the ktipiti and taramosalata ( Grilled Octopus - Tunisian, sashimi quality octopus ($8 supplement) - the other reviews are correct, this is absolute wellllllll worth the supplement. Lightly charred but not chewy, this was delightful. And they didn't skimp on the amount of octopus either - plenty to go around (and thankfully so, wouldn't to throw some 'bows at the table for the last pieces). Avocado Salad - Served with baby shrimp and drizzled with olive oil - a bit underwhelming, honestly - a half scooped avocado, filled with guac (otherwise all normal avocado) with 3 shrimp on top. At the end of the days, it's still [delicious] avocado...but I could eat one at home. Mains: With the kiddies with us, we played it somewhere safe with two orders of the lamb chops - Grilled and served with Greek fries and seasonal vegetables ($8 supplement), as well as an order of the Loup de Mer, Moist and mild Mediterranean Sea Bass served with steamed vegetables. Lamb chops - we ordered these both medium, but one came out a bit on the rarer side (not that I particularly cared all that much...but there was a notable difference between the two orders, and consistency/order accuracy should matter). Two chops for per - and the chop that I pulled was more than half fat. The two bites of meat I had were tasty, though. Steamed veggies (broccoli and cauliflower) and the fries were fine. Sea Bass - I wish we ordered two of these. Perfectly tender, no frills, whole fish, with a little bit of olive oil. Delicious. Dessert: We ordered: Karidopita - walnut cake with ice cream - loved the walnut infusion, but a bit on the sweet side, ice cream ironically helped to cut it; thankfully we got some fresh fruit as well. I mentioned it was my (and my brother's) bday, so they graciously gave us another order on the house. Yiaourti - greek yogurt with thyme honey (and pecans atop) - I think this was the winner. Firm, quasi-tart yogurt, with some sweet, savory honey and pecans for added texture...very nice. Fresh fruit - standard assortment, refreshing. A very nice outing overall, very accommodating staff, though with a couple of miscues, but would still like to come back for a dinner...and especially for that octopus. read more

It had been a minute since I attended an educational dinner - I enjoy them but hey, life is busy. However, the stars finally aligned this past week and I happened to be in the right place at the right time - so of course I pounced to secure an RSVP. This is how I found myself at Limani. Judging by their Yelp page, this looked like a total score so I was looking forward to seeing what they had to offer. Sitting in pretty much in the heart of Rockefeller Center, Limani has the feel of a Midtown restaurant. I don't mean that in a bad way though - the aesthetics are cool and modern with low lighting offset by a subtle blue glow. The color scheme is mostly white, with the modern touches continuing in the furniture, bar on the back wall, and impressive fountain-pool in the center of the dining room that serves as a focal point. One of my Yelp friends described it as "Miami meets Midtown" which I feel is the perfect phrase to summarize the aesthetics - I was a fan. We were seated downstairs in a private room; our menu was fixed with the exception of our choice of entree. They started by serving a variety of apps: fried calamari, an assortment of Mediterranean dips with pita, eggplant chips, tomato-cucumber salad, mushrooms, and roasted peppers (I think that was everything). As a whole, the apps were tasty - the dips were really good, and I was impressed they used rings and tentacles on the calamari. I was also happy to see eggplant chips, though it covered an additional dip which didn't make much sense mechanically. The salad added a welcome freshness and was tasty in its own right. For my main I had salmon - I thought it had good flavor but wasn't too outstanding (here's where the restaurant week treatment kicked in). However, the warm potato salad that was served on the side was a great complement. For dessert, we were served fruit with Greek yogurt, plus baklava and walnut cake. These were all quite good - flaky, sweet, and a great finisher to the meal. Service was great - everything was served at a pretty good pace and we never felt forgotten. Overall, I was really impressed at Limani's offerings for an educational dinner.
