We were looking for dessert and came across this little bean. Turns out this place serves not only shaved ice but also drinks and boba and snacks! We got the Taiwanese shaved ice with mochi, custard, and mango. A really yummy combination! It's inexpensive for a good amount too! It's perfectly shareable between 2 or 3 people! The atmosphere feels very home-y and personal. Staff is very kind. Definitely coming here again very soon as my go-to place for shaved ice or snacks. This family owned / mom & pop vibe business is by far the best boba I've ever had in Rowland Heights - and GURLLL there's a lot of spots to get boba in Rowland Heights! I'd rather choose an authentic spot versus somewhere hip that has subpar and expensive drinks. WHAT TO ORDER: - Taro smoothie: Hands down, the best place that I've had real taro root! In fact, it's made me a bit of a taro snob if I order taro somewhere else. I'm not talking about the purple powder that's confused for taro - but straight up TARO ROOT that's white. I always order this with 1/4 sweetener. - Other drinks that are of high quality: pineapple smoothie and milk tea smoothies or milk tea itself. - THEIR BOBA IS BY FAR THE BEST BOBA I'VE EVER HAD. Wanting something a bit different from the usual Lollicup offerings, I jumped on Yelp and immediately found this place and seeing the amazing reviews, I just knew that I had to go. The fact that I was at my parents' house in Rancho Cucamonga that day did not deter me one bit! So I aimed the car towards the 60, picked up a friend on the way in Ontario and was soon on my way towards warm, chewy goodness. I came to this spot to try one of their boba drinks; however, upon checking the menu I noticed some hot desserts that caught my attention. Have in mind the menu description of the items is in Chinese(?) (Idk if it's Japanese or what language it is) so the menu was very unfamiliar to me yet I was able to make some words out. I decided to try this hot sesame and red bean dessert; and I honestly thought it was going to be the usual sesame balls with red bean paste inside since it's considered a hot dessert but I literally had no idea what I got myself into xD ANYWAYS: I apparently ended up ordering the hot sesame dessert with red beans, rice balls, and taro(?) I forgot one of the items I added to it but OMG I LOVED IT SO MUCH! It's like oatmeal but made with foreign ingredients that make it sweet and warm. The portion is huge! Good enough to feed two-three people and you can ask for some cute little bowls to share with friends :D Overall I really like their hot desserts, not so sure about the drinks or anything else since I haven't tried the other items on the menu. Going back to Taiwan, nothing beats a bowl of brown sugar shaved ice on a hot day. It's so hard to find a good and fresh place back in the states but I think I've found it. This cute little mom and pop store is not only super clean, the owners are also super kind and seemed to have quite a few regulars that they chatted with while I stayed to study for a few hours. At just $4.95 for a shaved ice with 4 toppings, they created a pretty big bowl, good for about 3 people to share. The taro chunks were fresh and pretty big, the red bean and peanuts just the right sweetness, but the BEST part were the sweet potato and taro balls. Super Q and can only be beat by a mom and pop store back in Banqiao my mom grew up with. I loved this place and hope to come back in the future! I was planning on having a relaxing evening at home working on my laptop and drinking ginger tea :P While waiting for my tea a lady sitting at the bar started talking to me and offered me her punchcard that was almost full. She told me they have the best boba milk tea in town but not to have any at the moment or I wouldn't be able to sleep. She told me she was drinking a lemon green tea and they squeezed fresh lemons in it and they use fresh taro to make their drinks. She then asked me where I lived and where I worked and told me she was proud of me and ended up giving me her other punchcard. Saw the good reviews and walked in, expecting a tea bar. Instead, we saw a bunch of bins full of snacks. We were confused. The woman helpfully asked, "Are you looking for something?" When we said bubble tea, she pulled out some menus and showed us all the options: milk tea, flavored tea, coffee tea, shaved ice. There were even options not on the menu, like tapioca pearls made of green tea. We ordered a range of things: coffee milk tea, lemon green tea with green tea boba, jasmine milk tea with custard and boba. Everything was great! The owner checked in to make sure that we were happy, and told us they've been serving boba tea for 20 years - and showed us his bent old boba straining spoon just to prove it. I passed by this place almost everyday to work and then back from work. Finally got a chance to stop by today. Short and simple review since I only got a slushie today: -Juice/drinks made from real fruit and ingredients. I ordered a grape slushie and it can be told that it's not made from syrup or concentrate. -Super friendly service. Huge plus. -Not over-priced. My large slushie with Taiwanese Pearls added was below $5 bucks. Compare to other boba places I visit and from a past-barista's poverty, it's a really nice deal. -They also have shaved ice as well. No frills, no thrills ... but damn the warm boba here is YUMS! The attitude of the ladies working the counter can range from friendly to "I'm a robot and I'll take your order". I think it's the limited English that makes them seem not overly friendly to me. I've been going here since before the big boba bubble bust (tongue twisters are fun) of 2000. That's when it seemed like every corner was opening a Lollicup or Tapioca Express. I remember being a student at CSUF and still driving here for a cup of deliciousness and a game of Chinese checkers with my class mates. There are only 3 drinks I get here. 1. Milky green tea with boba. 2. Milk Tea with boba. 3. Milk coffee with boba. Do you see a trend here? Always get the BOBA here, its consistently warm and chewy and they give you plenty of it! For people that complain there's too much boba ... You deserve a hard punch in the face. :/ One thing that might weird you out is those 3 drinks are pre-mixed and put into milk gallons and they just take them out and pour them into your cup. But trust me they are all delicious and always taste fresh! Also its a bonus for me that I never have to wait more than 3 minutes from when I order to get my drink :) They also sell dried fruits, candy, and treats here as well. It's located in a small little Asian plaza, surrounded by numerous other plazas in the Rowland Heights neighborhood. The shop seems to primarily be a sweets destination (snacks and candy galore), with drink menus at the counter. I went straight for the boba milk tea. That first sip had such a refreshing feeling! The milk tea itself is lightly sweet and very smooth. They don't ruin the drink by adding loads sugar, which is always a plus! The boba was what surprised me the most! Oooh boy, they were so soft! You don't realize it just by looking at them, but as you bite into one, it's like cleaving butter with a hot knife! I'd recommend this place to anyone who's a big milk tea fan! I am drinking some yummy Little Bean boba right now as I type up this review. This place is utterly fantastic! I love their boba drinks because they keep their boba very warm. Those first few sips are simply heaven. A delicious mix of cold liquid with warm boba balls! Okay. That didn't sound right, but that's literally what it is damn it! I only had room after dinner to try the "milky green tea" and I loved it! I only wish I had room to try their shaved ice. The green milk tea was not overly sweet like other tea shops and there was a perfect balance between the green tea and sweetness. Also, prices are pretty cheap compared to other places for the amount you get. I went into Little Green Bean today at 10:30, about 30 mins after they opened. I ordered their delicious Milk Tea with boba and was complimenting the staff on their wonderful drinks. Somehow I ended up in a conversation with a male worker who was explaining different drinks to me, boba quality, and how they use real taro instead of taro powder like some of the other boba places. Freshly brewed teas and coffees that actually doesn't taste like pure sugar! I tried the mocha boba drink, since I needed the caffeine boost.. and because the nice cashier recommended their coffee drinks. The boba was pretty mushy, and tasted subtly of brown sugar. The iced coffee was nowhere as sweet as drinks from Starbucks... it was reassuring knowing I wouldn't have to wake up with a coffee hangover :) I also tasted a bit of my friend's red/black (same difference) tea boba, and I actually tasted the tea in the milk tea (usually milk tea tastes overwhelmingly of milk and sugar) Unlike normal tea houses, there aren't hot foods like popcorn chicken or cakes. Instead, there is a large selection of Asian snack chips. Little Bean also resembles a Chinese book or gift shop more than it does a cafe. Little Bean is one of the few stores/restaurants still surviving in a dying plaza, with fewer food places to frequent now than before. However, I am fond of restaurants in Hong Kong Plaza across the street, so I can drop in for a drink when I'm in the area. read more

Although I am guilty of often giving my business to other boba establishments in the area such as Tastea, Tea Lane, Ten Rens, Half Half, Meow Meow and Tea Bar, my heart will always remain faithful to Little Bean. My first love. In middle school, I remember coming here to Little Bean. That is how long they've been around. Before the Half Half craze, before Ten Rens started popping up all over Southern California, and even before the Lollicup 99 cent boba days, Little Bean has been there, selling delicious boba milk teas with a home made taste. In the store, there are a few tables to sit, and also an assortment of chinese snacks available for purchase. I still come here to get my dose of dried prunes, guavas and plum powder. To the average person passing by, these items might seem odd and inedible, but to a Taiwanese person, these are snacks to live by. To this day, whenever I come to Little Bean, the owner asks me how my parents and siblings are doing. The people here are just the sweetest. All you do is step on up to the bar and you can watch them make your drink in front of you. Last time I came, my green milk tea tasted a bit watered down, but the boba was still soft and chewy, just the way I like it. I hope that Little Bean will stay open for a long time to come because it's the type of family business that I love to support, and the kind of place that will win over your heart. read more

I went again on Thursday because it was freaking hot! I needed something cold to cool me off... although even if it was freaking cold... I would still come here for my shaved ice regardless! ^_^ It did cool me off and made me feel better since it was hot that day so it's a plus. You may ask why I took 1 star off... it's because the girl who did it didn't do it as good as the other lady. Last time it was LOADED! I could feel my mouth drooling and my teeth rotting as I looked at it! lol This time I asked for it to be put in a take out container because I was going to eat some and run. Maybe it's because I got it for take out that it didn't look as good. It was still good but not great like last time. I asked for extra condensed milk and she sweetly said yes, but I think her definition and the other lady's was totally different. Secret tea and boba restaurant that nice and hidden! The place has wonderful Boba Milk Tea and Shaved Ice if your looking to try a different store. The milk tea really has a sweet tea flavor to it. Be sure to ask for less sugar because the drink can be sweet if you don't like the sugar! The boba is also really delicious. There is also no line at the restaurant since not a lot of people think of little bean as the default boba store. I would also recommend the shaved ice. The desert is quite good. I would try red bean, almond tofu, and grass jelly, with condensed milk. The parking in that lot can be tough sometimes during lunch. So many people travel there to eat or shop! I was shocked/confused when I walked into the shop not knowing if it were a restaurant, drink shop, cafe, dessert shop, confectionery store, or what? My girlfriend, friends, and I just had dessert at Class 302 and I thought I'd try out the milk tea. For $4 and no tax, my girlfriend and I shared a large milk tea with boba and coffee jelly. Very very very enjoyable, but nothing special. Am I suppose to get dessert here? Maybe I'll come back after I eat at SimBaLa or something to try their dessert, but at $4 for a large cup, I can just go down the street to Half And Half (put up with their damn long wait) and get a big ass cup of milk tea for $3.81 after tax. read more

The only thing I ever get here is the green tea boba but it's very good. The boba is always warm so it melts the ice in the drink quickly. There's a Ten Ren a couple doors down in the same shopping center. I actually like the tea at Ten Ren better but the workers at Little Bean are friendlier. I was really excited to try this place because of the great reviews. However, maybe I built my expectations up a bit high, and was a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, this place wasn't terrible, just pretty average. I still prefer some Half and Half. Their sizes were pretty big and the prices were reasonable though. I tried 3 drinks : mango smoothie, iced milk green tea, and half coffee/half milk tea (I think). I really liked my milk green tea which parallels Tea Station's and that's one of my favorites. The mango smoothie, that a lot of reviews say is good, was just really average in my opinion. And my friends really loved the half coffee/half milk drink which I thought was just okay as well. They said it paralleled good Vietnamese coffee, though I beg to differ. I probably would have given this place a 4 for the taste of the milk green tea. And the drinks were served very quickly which is a plus. However, 3 stars because I just didn't love their tapioca pearls which seem to be their specialty I think? They were sweet, which I do like, but also wayyy soft, which I did not like at all. But, my friend really liked them so it is really up to how you like your pearls.
