This is my first and still my favorite Singapore cuisine place. I am in no position to judge whether it's authentic or not, but it's consistently tasty for over 20 years I have visited. Ever since I knew about Singapore fried rice noodle, I have tried it over at least 5 different restaurants in LA, and no one got close. Phoenix Cafe is too heavy flavor, and Sam Woo is simply not qualified. The Laksa is great, not too salty or spicy, even though I wished more noodle for the bowl because there is plenty of soup. Special chili fillet fish is beyond fried fish! The crust is thin and fish inside is tender. My manager took me to this restaurant a few years back and this place quickly become my favorite restaurant for Southeast Asian cuisine because of their taste and consistency (mostly Singapore dishes). Their stir fry noodle, laksa and padong curry are exceptional. The stir fry noodle doesn't stick, there's a clear wok fried taste with a bit of springiness when chewed. I personally like to pair it with some vinegar and their house chili oil. The laksa is one of the better ones I've tasted here in the US. Huge coconut milk flavor. The padong curry here become one of my favorite food. The beef is generally tender and flavorful (occasionally there's a tougher piece) . The curry has layers of flavor that work so well together. When I'm craving Singaporean food I head to this local favorite. They've been around for a long time and I'm so glad they persisted through Covid. I have been here twice, trying to make the best out of it but couldn't. This place is plain Chinese (Hong Kong) food trying to be anything but Malaysian, Indian, Singaporean, etc. I understand it is supposed to be fusion, but even fusion foods can be well done, I don't get why this place is so popular, maybe it is the location. I had very high expectations of Malaysian food (1st time I tried) coming from Vancouver (Laksa King) and this place cratered it. A few years ago, Litz was well known for their Singaporean dishes. A few years later today, their Singaporean dishes are mediocre! They are not even trying to stay Singaporean influenced. Curry Laksa is the most decent Singaporean dish here, and it is still very bland. The curry soup used to be hearty and full of flavor made with coconut milk. Now, it's just really watered down and bland. Singaporean thin rice noodles is mediocre! Singaporean rice noodles is known for it's curry powder flavor but this dish has No curry flavor what so ever! It is cooked with ham slices!! There are no ham slices in Singaporean rice noodles. It's so bland that it doesn't even tastes like a Chinese cuisine dish. Even the many Hong Kong cafes and Cantonese cuisines restaurants tastes so much better then they do. Singaporean chow fun (thick rice noodles) is known for stir frying on a high fire/ heat wok with sweet black sauce stir fried with lots of eggs and meat, shrimp, and vegetables. Their version of it is cooked, (not stir fried in high heat) with light savory soy sauce. No hint of sweet black soy sauce as it is the main ingredient known for the Singaporean chow fun. Good service and the staff are very nice. The food is good overall, especially for the price.

This mom and pop has been here for a loooong time. Not everything is good on the menu and this place is old and not your cleanest eatery either (minus 1-star). For them to survive this long is from locals always stopping by to pick up their specialty items. #1 Singapore rice noodles (THE BEST and well-knowned) #2 Laksa, minced beef on rice and hainam chicken. I also order the preserved vegetable with pork vermicilli noodle soup which isnt bad either. If you dont like to eat in a place that doesnt feel clean, order to go as many people tend to do there. I have been going to this place for over 10+ years and I can't believe I've never left a review. The consistency of the food is unparalleled. Same taste for the Singapore fried rice noodles. Something about putting their chili oil on it that just puts it over the top. If you are coming for service, it's there, but you should not have high expectations as with most authentic Asian restaurants. We pretty much stick to the same dishes every time. Singapore fried rice noodles-5 star. Contains seafood variety shrimp, squid, ham, egg, bean sprouts. Must put their homemade chili oil Fried pork chop with chili- unbelievable. Great crunch in the pork chop and the spicy chili with ground pork sautéed with chili. Bomb over rice Spicy salt squid-nuff said Beef stew curry- I love anything beef stew braised. One of my favorite restaurant because of how good the food tastes here. If you want simple comfort Singaporean food this is the place. All the currys are really good. We ordered the rendang curry and it had a good spice level. I always ordered the hainan chicken because of the sweet soy sauce and chili sauce. Very average. The curry flavor isn't very prominent and everything was very average. We had: 1) pineapple fried rice 2) ox toungue curry 3) mi fun 4) chicken curry. The most tasty thing here was the mi fun, everything else was a little bland. We also got the momo Jaja (shaved ice) and it was very bland - although it had taro, red bean, and grass jelly, it had absolutely no flavor. The hot coffee and lemon tea are refillable bit the iced coffee is not. Basic canto style coffee, brother said the lemon tea was on the tart side. Also, service here was pretty bad. We were actually scolded by the servers several times when we asked for an extra plate set (they counted wrong) and for a water. As a side note, one of the waitresses takes bribes if you want to be seated first. Don't recall which one but saw it happen. read more

Ugh. How this place has fallen. Went there for some vermicelli because I love Singaporean style vermicelli and this place did it best. Mom was in town and remembered how she loved their vermicelli. But this place looks and feels like it got left behind since I've last visited. All the stuff looks old and they never got new stuff. The menu prices all went up at least 20-50% and it's very expensive relative to other Chinese restaurants in the area. I'll tell you about it and you decide... Singaporean vermicelli. $11. Volume down about 1/3 from before. Vermicelli was dry but greasy. Flavor was bland. They didn't skimp on the cocktail size shrimp and ham. But since it had no flavor, what difference is quantity? Lots of flavorless shrimp and ham is still flavorless shrimp and ham. Pork rib soup. $10. F@@k this. A greasy bowl of water, basically made by boiling pork ribs and salt. The ribs? It's not ribs. It's RIB. Singular. Imagine taking 1 regular baby back rib, and cutting it up into 4 pieces into mini rib segments. That's all that was in there. Boiled rib. One bloody water boiled rib, chopped in 4 tiny segments. W. T. F. Sauteed shrimp. $16. I thought the waitress ate half my plate when she brought it out. My mom actually was surprised and blurted out why is the portion so small. The waitress just said it's fine and tastes good and leaves. Specifically, there were 12 medium cooked from frozen shrimps, 1 mushroom, and 2 baby corn on the plate. Curry beef stew. $15. The bowl was about 2 cups worth in size. 4 chunks of beef on the bone. 2/3 bone. Little meat hanging on the bones. Curry was thick, oily, and definitely not fresh. Too salty. Fried fish fillets. $12. This was barely acceptable. 20 bite sized fish fillets, breaded and seasoned with spicy salt and deep fried. The breading was on the thicker side. Some pieces I couldn't tell if there was fish at all inside, but at least you can taste the fish flavor. Yes, I'm being generous here. Also came with 2 barely streamed broccoli pieces. The place was 80% full. We had to hunt the waitress down for refills and we gave up after 1 refill because she never came around or checked on us. Yes, if you're doing math, you read that right. This meal for 4 costed $82 including tax and tip. Don't even know why we left anything beyond the minimum for tip since they gave us minimal food and minimal service. Very dirty, I went there to eat yesterday April 30 2022 Saturday Lunch. After I went home, I got Diarrhea, stomach pain, and head ache. They are very dirty because they use same towel to clean multiple Tables again and again. Strew with out no paper cover. People there took cash then with out wash hand to bring my dish to my table. Laksa noodles (in coconut curry broth) aren't that easy to find, so I dropped by Litz Restaurant to try their variant. Located one block over from Mama Lu's, there's limited parking behind the restaurant but you might get away with parking in an adjacent lot. The menu here is rather unfriendly for solo dining. Even the items in the appetizer section are mostly priced at $8 and above. The laksa was $10.25. Their laksa is Singaporean style which apparently means vermicelli noodles by default instead of the firm egg noodles that I'm familiar with. The main issue with vermicelli is that it tends to get overcooked and there's too much of it. Fortunately that wasn't the case here, with a good balance of soup, noodles, and toppings. Still, I prefer the egg noodles. The broth was rather thin and I'm not sure if it's really recognizable as "coconut curry", but it certainly tasted good. It had only a mild spiciness to it, and the main flavor was a good amount of shrimp paste. It had a nice mixture of toppings -- half an egg, fried bean curd, bean sprouts, shrimp, and chicken. The chicken itself was bland but I'm sure it added flavor to the soup. Quality of service and level of English were both above average. Not a bad place if you're craving laksa, but I encourage a group visit if you want to try multiple dishes. read more

The best place to eat affordable Singaporean food! Everything has so much flavor, I can just close my eyes and pick something random on the menu and I am sure I would be satisfied! The portions are very satisfying as well, so be prepared to take home leftovers! Like everyone on Yelp says, the Laksa is very very delicious. My dad likes to take home the rest of the soup to pour it on rice. The service is very welcoming as well. I definitely will return soon. read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid. I only get the Singapore Fried Noodle and the chicken wings. I always add the chili oil to the noodles - adds extra flavor. No 1 Singapore fried rice noodle ($7.95): Stir fried noodle with shrimp, squid, ham and egg. I asked for less oil but the lady kept talking to me in Cantonese. She finally asked someone else to take my order and they got it right. No 2 Singapore style laksa ($7.95): Shrimp, boiled egg, tofu, chicken, rice noodle in curry broth. My laksa was watered down and kinda bland. It's been a while since I visit Litz. The food is not as good as I remember =( Did they change the cook? Came here last Sunday for dinner with friends and not really liking it, everything was too greasy. I usually don't mind greasy, but this one was over the top. Litz is NOT the Ritz but it does have it's charm. This place is family-owned and the owner is one of the waitresses and always smiling and helpful throughout the restaurant. My go-to dishes are the Singaporean Fried Vermicelli and the Chili Deep Fried Chicken. The Laksa is also pretty good but do not match up to the other dishes. The fried vermicelli is quite oily but they do not use curry powder so you get to taste the "wok hei" of the noodles, bean sprouts, ham, and squid. I suggest adding some chili oil to really spice up the dish. As for the chili deep fried chicken, this is breaded chicken nuggets with an minced meat and onion mixture. I want to say they use shrimp paste to cook it but it packs a lot of flavor. Although also not healthy, it is full of flavor and good in moderation. As for the drinks, I used to always get the grass jelly iced milk drink. You can't really go wrong since it is milk, grass jelly, ice, and syrup. Since you are in MPK, and I think the owners know themselves that reception for almost any carrier is no bueno, you can use their WiFi. Poster is posted on the wall so you are clearly invited to use it. A solid 3.5 stars in terms of food, service, and convenience but I'll round up because you almost always never have to wait for a seat. read more

If you treated Litz like any old Hong Kong style cafe, I would have given it 3 stars. But when I walked in, I had no idea they had all these Singaporean specials. It would stand to reason I should have tried the Singaporean rice noodles but I didn't. We ordered instead the combination fried noodles (mein). This comes with strips of ham, chicken and beef along with some bean sprouts. It's a simple dish but very satisfying. My brother also wanted dumplings and so we got the laksa dumplings. The laksa soup was surprisingly very tasty. I just had a laksa soup at an Indonesian place and it wasn't as good as this. The dumplings were good too, the pork inside was a brighter shade of red than I'm used to. I wonder if they had smoked the meat because it tasted saltier, like ham. We also got a porkchop curry. It wasn't very spicy but was kicked up with their house-made chili sauce. Service was fine. The waitress spoke to us in Cantonese but the guy spoken to us in English. They have a small parking lot but I found parking elsewhere. It wasn't too busy right before noon on Saturday but I could see the place can be popular. The decor is terribly outdated. It reminds me of a country inn. I'd like to come back to try more of their Singaporean dishes. read more

One of the restaurants I wouldn't have thought to try without Yelp. I came here with the gf after she got mad for undisclosed reasons and I needed to make amends. We tried: - Green curry with beef tongue (I love beef tongue, but the curry was just okay) Singapore style spareribs soup (I've never had this, but thought it was incredibly flavorful and the spareribs were yummy). Singapore shrimp fried rice noodle (Funny, I've always had this dish with some sort of curry flavor and jalapenos so it was strange that those ingredients were missing, but you know what, this was a incredibly tasty dish. Also had squid in it - mmm!) Braised green beans (great flavor, beans were ever slightly overcooked) Momo jaja (think Taiwanese shaved ice with taro, red bean, and grass jelly - too many larger bits of ice, wasn't what I was expecting and wouldn't order again). Litz feels like home! I'm not familiar with Singaporean food what so ever so my review is simply based on experience & taste rather then being able to compare it to anything else. The interior is very Chinese diner like, nothing fancy going on here but enough tables that we've always been seated immediately. Service is great, sometimes depending on who is working there is a slight language barrier but luckily we just point at what we want and everything works out ok. Now for the food, I've stuck with the same dish partially because I was too scared to try all their random dishes and also partially because the dish itself is so good I'm always left satisfied. My favorite dish here is their Kung Pow Shrimp, again I know it seems pretty basic but the portion is huge & it's incredibly tasty. Dish comes with white rice but I'd also recommend splurging and just getting the fried rice. White people pay attention! You must try the iced Lemonade here! OMG! It seemed to be one of those things that everyone around here grew up with based on other reviews that I'm so envious I barley found out about it now. When we ordered their Hainan chicken rice, the server came back to inform us (in Chinese) that they were out of their regular rice and that we could have white rice or fried rice with it. I waved and said "No, forget it. That's the best part." I tried to explain how the chicken broth gets cooked INTO the rice and that's what makes it good. She appeared to have no idea what I was talking about. She said that she was sure we would like the fried rice, everyone likes it and that if we didn't, she would switch it. OK pause. *scene freezes* See the woman there talking to me? She has no idea how Hainan chicken rice is supposed to be made. She also doesn't realize she's talking to someone whose bar for Hainan chicken rice is very high. See ME sitting there, listening to her? I'm about to make a big mistake and go against my instinct. Ok play. *scene resumes* They bring out the Hainan chicken rice and it sucks. It's the worse Hainan chicken rice I've ever had. It's basically dry, tough, tasteless, boiled chicken with a side of half-ass fried rice. The sauces do nothing. We spend the next fifteen min berating the servers for how bad the chicken is and laughing at them as they say things like "you're just not used to it" and "everyone says it's very good," etc. To their credit they bring out a scallion and ginger sauce to try and make it better (that's the extra star) but the fact that they think the sauces can make that much of a difference just underscores their fundamental misunderstanding of this dish. Lesson: When Hainan chicken rice is done right, it's transcendent. When it's done incorrectly, you don't even want to take the leftovers home. Also, trust your instincts. read more

Their Singapore Fried Rice Noodle is by far the best I've tasted in great LA area, especially with the sauce that comes with it. Even during the pandemic, they taste great as take-outs. I wanted to try a new laksa place and discovered Litz. When I first walked in, it had a divey feeling to it. The place just didn't look the best. I ordered the laksa with mein and it had great flavor. If you are starving, I would recommend getting one for yourself, but the portion is huge and the amount of noodles in the soup is crazy. I really enjoyed the flavor of the authentic flavor of all the spices. For all you non-laksa lovers, there are so many other Chinese options to choose from. Another bonus to the restaurant is that they have free Wi-Fi, and the passcode is posted on the wall. I think I've found a new favorite for late night dining! We came here after trying to go to Kang Kang Food Court across the street. They ran out of my favorite shenjian bao there so we decided to try something new and found Litz. My boyfriend actually used to go here quite often because he used to live so close, but since moving, he hasn't been back that often. Upon entrance, the place looked kind of shabby, but Iets not judge a book by its cover. Service was friendly and it was pretty empty much empty on a Sunday night at 10PM. We ordered the Singaporean Fried Rice Noodles and Garlic Chinese Broccoli/Gailan to share. Both were really great choices and left us completely full and satisfied. The rice noodles had squid and shrimp in it and we added some chili to it. Delicious! The vegetables were very fresh and sauteed well. There's perfect portion of the toppings in this mountain of vermicelli fried and tossed to perfection. The flavor is not too salty. We ordered the Padang beef stew. Good. Solid and comforting. Again, subtle flavors even though the stew is angry creamy red. The laksa: well I wish it was more fragrant and flavorful. It tastes diluted. But it's good.
