    Dover & Fries

What I've found to be interesting about restaurants in the Seattle area is that the best restaurants from a culinary perspective are often not those that are expensive. Local Tide offers some of the best seafood dishes that I've had anywhere. I had the Dover & Fries. Though that dish is fish & chips by another name, it would be a terrible shame to just think of that dish just as your everyday fish & chips. Those Dover & Fries were utterly delightful to eat. Though the queue to get in can be long, it's just a good indication of how good this restaurant is. I'll be back again soon!

BROTHER... where do I even begin?! This was the best fish I've ever had in my life. Was in Seattle for 4 days and came here for lunch on 2 of those days. Tried 6-7 items from the menu and all of them were absolute bangers. Staff are super chill vibes and very helpful. Interior is cool. My favorites were the albacore sandwich and the filet o fish. Every single item was a hit though. This is an absolute MUST TRY if you're in Seattle. I may consider making a trip back to Seattle just to come eat here in the future tbh.

Came here on a Friday early evening, and there was a line out the door. I was visiting my sister and had been craving a good fish sandwich, so we decided to give it a try. We ended up waiting a little over an hour, even after the restaurant officially closed, but they still served everyone who was already in line, which I appreciated. Once inside, the staff were very friendly and apologetic about the wait. Service was a bit slow, but that's understandable considering how packed they were. The restaurant itself is also fairly small, which likely contributed to the wait. We ordered the fried fish sandwich, salmon sandwich, chowder, and fried oysters. Overall, everything was good, but the standouts for me were the salmon sandwich and the chowder. The salmon sandwich was served cold, which initially caught me off guard because I was expecting it to be hot. After taking a bite, though, I understood why it was served that way, it was fresh, flavorful, and worked really well. The fried oysters were also delicious, especially paired with the dipping sauce. The chowder wasn't quite like the style I'm used to, but it was still rich, flavorful, and worth ordering. The fried fish sandwich--the item I was most excited about--was good, just not my favorite of everything we tried. The best way I can describe it is as an elevated Filet-O-Fish. It wasn't bad by any means, but it's probably not something I'd order again. As for the long line, I wasn't upset about waiting because I knew they were busy, but I probably wouldn't wait over an hour again. I would definitely come back if there wasn't such a long line, because the food and friendly service made it worth another visit.

This spot is super popular, and there's almost always a line outside. They don't have too much seating inside, and you order at the counter then get seated with a number. We came on the earlier side and ended up waiting around 20 minutes before ordering. I got the dover and fries, and this was probably one of the best fish and chips dishes I have ever had! The fish was super duper thin and coated generously, and then topped with some seasoning mix that was so flavorful. The fries / potatoes were also insanely crispy and flavorful - the skins were the best part. I also really liked the tarter sauce that it came with! I can still remember how it all tastes. Definitely recommend the dover and chips, and I'll have to be back to try other menu items!

I have been wanting to try this place for a while now and finally made it ! This is a small shop in Fremont, and I have never not seen a line out the door, but they turn tables pretty quickly. On a Saturday evening, we waited in line about 20 minutes and then were able to order and be sat. All the staff was very friendly. Even though they were constantly busy and wearing different hats, they were helpful, smiling and overall really nice. The food was solid. We tried the smoked salmon dip with chips, the fried chicken sandwich and the the black cod kasusuke. The crab rolls were sold out by the time we got there or we definitely would have tried those. The salmon dip was good, lots of dill, and the chips were crispy. The fried fish sandwich was light, which was nice for something fried, and the roll it was on was soft and warm. The black cod kasusuke was my favorite dish of the meal. The black cod was tender and fell apart, and it was seasoned so nice. It came with a spinach salad and rice which was also delicious. If I could give half stars, this would be pushing a 4.5. Nothing blew me away, but everything was fresh and enjoyable!

Tried the salmon salad this time and it was delicious. It was well dressed and the salmon was very fresh and tasty. A great option for a lighter lunch or dinner

On the higher price-end, Local Tide has a small menu of gorgeous healthy and fresh dishes! The shrimp toast is 100% in the top 3 bites I have had in Seattle, absolutely no doubt!!! Just be mindful that the portions are a little small for what you spend though

POV: you just got out of the Fremont Flea Market(s) (both, mind you) after a morning of browsing through so many antique goodies that your head is spinning. The wind is howling. Your fingers are getting numb. Hunger blurs your vision. And then your trusty friend says, "I know a place for food." After a quick drive and gentle uphill walk, you arrive at none other than Local Tide. There's a line out the door. Your stomach gurgles. "It's worth the wait, I think," your friend proclaims nervously. You all choose to wait. When you get inside, you find that the crab roll you'd been salivating over is sold out. Devastating, but no matter-- you'd already chosen the salmon sandwich as your backup. Your friends also order the shrimp toast and smoked salmon belly dip to share. The sweet cashier thanks you all, offers you a seat quickly and says your food will be right out. The smoked salmon belly dip comes first. DELECTABLE. You're already starving at this point, but the staff notified you that there would be a slight delay with the other food, so you begin to ration the chips and dip. Fifteen minutes pass. Twenty. Once it's nearing 35 minutes, you're getting antsy. You're supposed to be at Pac-Sci by now, and it's already 3:15. Will you make it in by 5? Your friends are getting hangry. Tensions are high. Maybe you should just eat the cost of the sandwich and go... Just when you think all hope is lost, the waft of oil, mayo, and fried goodness hits your nose. It's here. The glorious shrimp toast and salmon sandwich arrive to the table, along with the cod, another salmon sandwich, and the rockfish bowl. The waiter serves you all an apologetic look and all of the previous heat melts away. Everyone digs in immediately, and for 10 minutes, the table is silent save for vigorous chewing and occasional "this is so good"s. You finish your meal. The sky is clear. You make it to Pac Sci in time. Would come back for that smoked salmon dip. Thank you, Will, for the rec.

I recently saw a post on IG about the food at Local Tide. I decided to take a drive over and see for myself, what this place was all about. There is not much parking available in the area, aside for the paid parking lots in the surrounding area; I almost gave up, but was able to find free street parking. Remember to check the signs, as not all street parking is free. I arrived for a late lunch, a little after 1 pm. The restaurant was fairly busy, around 70% capacity. There was a sign with instructions for seating and ordering posted outside. Upon entering, I was greeted by a very friendly worker; I informed her that I had never been there before and asked what she recommended. While I have done this many times, very rarely has the person opposite me asked my preferences in food and made suggestions accordingly. I explained that I wasn't too hungry but did want to try a couple items. She informed me that the shrimp toast was an item that almost every table ordered, then proceeded to detail how the dish was prepared and what it was served with. After ordering the shrimp toast, I was given a few more suggestions and decided on the smash burger. As many more businesses are moving away from accepting cash payments, I was asked for "exact change" if paying in cash. I explained that I wanted to leave extra money for tip, but if that meant paying by card I could do so. They were able to make the $5 change I needed. The shrimp toast showed up quickly after I sat at the bar. It wasn't as oily as I expected, which was great. Combined with the slaw, I really enjoyed this dish. The smash burger followed quickly behind the shrimp toast. The burger was quite filling, I ended up taking half to go.

Seattle did NOT disappoint when it came to the food options! I spent my birthday weekend in Seattle and my godsister recommended this spot. It is counter service and a line was already forming, always a good sign. The menu is small but still has so many choices at the same time, so we ended up ordering almost everything. When I say everything was sooooo delicious and fresh, I mean I still think about that food to this day. Truly phenomenal. The place itself is really cute but there is not a lot of seating. Luckily we were able to sit, wait, and eat next door at the wine bar. The staff was friendly and very helpful. 10 out of 10 birthday stop!

I came for dinner and it was quite busy. You order at the front before sitting down, which can be confusing if you didn't know. I ordered the chowder and my friends ordered the Rockfish Banh Mi and Fried Oysters. Overall, the food was good but a tad expensive for the amount of food, specifically the Fried Oysters. I'd try the Shrimp Toast next time and maybe the Dover & Fries.

My brother and I visited on a random Tuesday for a late lunch, and thankfully there was no line. I've heard the lines can get pretty long here, so what a relief! We ordered the tuna melt special, shrimp toast, and clam chowder to share. I was expecting the clam chowder to be creamy, but the broth was more thin and runny than thick and creamy. It was decent, but nothing mind blowing. I enjoyed the shrimp toast the most; it was flavorful, crispy, and made for yummy bites with the sauces provided. The tuna melt special was $24 and tiny for the price in my opinion. They should split this sandwich into two instead of having it be one gigantic mess to eat. It was pretty good, but again nothing to rave about. We spent about $37 each and I still left hungry afterwards which is not ideal. The ambience is cozy and warm, and service is standard. I do think it's quite overpriced and overrated so probably wouldn't go back, but I'm glad I got to try Local Tide!

Delicious and fresh seafood! We ordered the Dover & Fries which is like Fish & Chips but cooked in an asian salt & pepper style. The dover is very thin and crispy and PIPING hot. I liked their clam chowder, you can really taste the clam-umami. it's not your typical cream-based chowder, rather more clam-broth based with a hint of cream instead! We also ordered the crab roll - I'm more biased towards hot rolls so it wasn't my thing but if you like a cold crab salad type roll it's worth trying. You get seated after you order at the counter and service was great.

Based on that, she chose 4 esoteric bottles that each had their own characteristics that would be interesting to compare against one another. My flight consisted of the Pappy Van Winkle 23 years, Colonel EH Taylor Distiller's Council, Very Olde St. Nick Superfreak, and Wild Turkey Austin Nichols 16 years. It was super nice trying all of these rare bottles that I wouldn't even be able to find, and they were all interesting and delicious! The food here is also fantastic. We came during happy hour since the food is a lot cheaper. My favorite things were the Dry Aged Steak Frites and the Crispy Pork Belly. The steak was cooked perfectly and extremely tender with a great beefy flavor. I love a good french fry and these were fresh and crispy. The pork belly was tender and fatty but the fat was nicely rendered so it wasn't chewy. I love the Asian inspired flavors and the kimchi slaw provided the perfect acidity and freshness to complement the fatty pork belly.

First off they are not shy about telling you about the spice of the offerings. People who follow them on instagram know that they're pretty clear of the ingredients of their dishes. I often sit at the counter in the La Marea area, they will often state that the dish is spicy. They go one step further with service and ask do you want all the dishes to come out at the same time or as they are finished being prepared. Service is always friendly and helpful. La Marea was my first experience with a more expanded mariscos experience. As a Japanese American I love all the fresh raw fish tostadas especially the Tuna the salsa macho on this dish is delicious deep in flavor and texture but doesn't take away from the fish itself. When the cooler weather came they started adding hot dishes which do not disappoint and live up to the flavor and quality of the rest of the menu. The torta generous and definitely great for someone with a large appetite. The Aguachile and Tostadas are on the lighter side but still filling. I will almost always get a special if it's available. When Oysters were in season they were very popular. It's always fun to see what Bo comes up with for seasonal ingredients. We also had the tuna tartare tostada and the chicken Caesar flautas. The tartare was good as well but does not compare to the dry aged tuna tostada. The flautas were surprisingly good, and were great to add some volume to this otherwise light meal while being a cheaper option from the menu. I would absolutely get them again. Great crunchy corn shell, creamy cheesy chicken filling, fresh crunch Caesar dressed romaine on top, with an unexpected kick from some salsa verde. Despite the high quality of this food, including gorgeous plate presentation, this place feels down to earth and casual. The light beers offered by Fair Isle (since La Marea is inside Fair Isle Brewing) were a perfect compliment to the fish. Truly the best seafood meal I've ever had in Seattle.

To finish off our meals, we shared the Olive Oil Cake ($14) - basil yogurt cremeux, strawberry gel, and the Chocolate Tiramisu ($16) - mascarpone, rum, amaretto, candied hazelnuts. What I loved: Oh man, every dish was delightful. I found something to savor and repeat in each of the dishes we were served. From the sweetness of the heirloom tomatoes, to the creamy burrata, from the crispy potatoes, to the fresh peas and everything in between. Our least favorite, at the table was the mushroom Angnolotti, inconsistent from bite to bite. The presentation of the Carrot & Tahini dip was a bit haphazard compared to the rest of the dishes served, but the flavor was still lovely. Why I loved it: The service was unparalleled, comfortable yet professional and quick to offer recommendations for our larger party. The decorations and quaint spaces truly welcoming, and the food, excellent. Cost: High ($40+ per person)
