I went through the huge menu and decided on the Grilled Mexican Street Corn $2.99 (love, love, love this) Tortilla Flat $11.49 Carnitas, rice, peppers & onions, corn & jack/cheddar cheese, topped with avocado, pickled onion & sour cream. Seasonings were just right not to spicy... To top off a wonderful dinner I had churros with Chocolate Sauce $4.99 As you can see from the stars I really enjoyed it! Loco Cocos was one of my favorite taco spots in the area, and will forever hold a place in my heart. That said, I would advise that people stay far away from their online ordering platform because it is a scam. I'm celebrating a birthday, so I placed an order online. I was given a confirmation screen showing a pickup time and that my payment was successful. I arrived early to pick my food up and was told "there was no record of my purchase." As such, if I wanted to pay a second time, they could estimate another 30-45 minutes for dinner to be ready. I was also told that I could "call back tomorrow and be refunded for the double charge". Without a confirmation email, nothing would be done for me. My offer to show the charge on my account as "proof" was declined and the people I dealt with showed little empathy to my plight. In my eyes, this was simply unacceptable. I called my credit card issuer who confirmed that my card had been run. Surprisingly, contesting the charge was a smooth experience with my bank offering more condolence than any employee of Loco Cocos. I will not recommend Loco Cocos anymore, they ruined my special event and showed no remorse about it. While management is happy to point fingers at Covid 19 and a lack of staff as an excuse for poor service, I saw a restaurant with so many staff members behind the checkout counter that they were getting in one another's way. Edit: someone replied to me. What's the point of placing an order online if I need to call to confirm it was received? How does my payment get processed before confirming the order with the restaurant? Why did I see an order confirmation if the restaurant didn't get the order? Thanks to Loco Cocos, I'm celebrating this event without dinner. I'm not interested in empty words and pointed fingers. My friend and I had passed this place a few times on our drive to other places and decided to finally try it. Let me start with the positives. Amazing service! Our waitress was so kind and helpful and attentive. The place was packed. However, the food, was not good. Maybe we ordered the wrong things because clearly other folks like it. But I ordered the tortilla soup which was flavorless and the fish and shrimp tacos which were just plain not good. My friend ordered chicken tacos and she couldn't finish them. It is definitely a busy spot on the weekends. I arrived around 5:45pm on a Friday and was able to get a seat, but immediately after the place filled up. We ordered the queso with chorizo and it was pretty good; very cheesy but not authentic, probably the best part of the meal. The small nachos were a good portion, however the cheese was not melted all the way through in some spots. The California burrito was a very large portion, however it did not come with rice, which usually is a standard in a burrito. Overall, not bad but not great. read more

I wish they had menus by the ordering station because the overhead menu is hard to read especially when there is a line of people in front of you. Loco Cocos is a decent Mexican restaurant located in Kittery, ME. Their tacos and quesadillas are pretty yummy, as is the ceviche. Their drinks can be hit or miss. I enjoyed their paloma the first time I had it but the second time I went it tasted very syrupy. I also didn't really enjoy my margarita for the same reason. It was too sweet and syrupy tasting. I might have to get a beer next time around because their draft selection is pretty killer. I usually like a margarita at a Mexican restaurant but I might have to make an exception. It isn't my favorite place for Mexican food but it's a close second. I like the atmosphere so I might try it a third time to see if maybe the drinks were just off that night. read more

This is the "Salsa" that this restaurant offers if you want more than pico de Gallo. It was absolutely horrible and I could not even tell you the items that produced that specific flavor. But what I can tell you is it tasted nothing like peppers, onions, garlic, or cilantro. The sign outside states that it's "authentic Mexican". I feel confident (due to the lack flavor and seasoning) that the claim may be less than accurate. The meat was all seemingly cooked in a crockpot or boiled and maybe tossed in some sauce afterwards. Hard to say but it was all super duper bland! No Goya, no Adobo, no Sofrito, no Recaito, no seasoning. We ordered their famous steak fries ...meh they weren't terrible but they weren't good. My husband said it's "the only thing he might get again but that he wouldn't get them again"! I got a taco (tasted like crockpot roast beef lol) and a burrito (oversized and completely bland)! My husband got a fish taco (fried frozen fish stick) that was bland with a huge slice of purple cabbage that was so hard it couldn't be bitten through. He also ordered mole enchiladas which were almost inedible. The sauce was horrendous (too sweet and too cinnamon flavored), and after scrapping the sauce off ... the chicken inside was once again bland, dry, and void of "authentic Mexican" seasoning. The place has a large dining area and I fellow yelpers know I like open kitchens. Ordering is simple look up at the menu while telling the cashier what you desire. You can either dine in or take out. Plus there is an additional separate table serving area if you don't want to mingle with the common folks. Hey did that bring a chuckle? For us Hawaiian yelpers, think of how Zippy's is set up and you'll get the picture. For fellow yelpers that don't get it, I've written a review on Zippy's. (I know you'll read that next)! Food was ok. I got the Carne asada and it lacked seasoning. I had to drown it with sauce. And I've always been spoiled with warm tortilla chips with salsa from Mexico or Old Town Mexican Cafe or Aldaberto's but here the chips were cold and no salsa for me. Overall three stars. People were friendly and the place was clean. Plenty of parking outside and the the place is so big there's always seating available. We sat in the bar area and I ordered some tasty Baja Fish Tacos. Each fish taco had very greasy beer battered fish, shredded cabbage, salsa, sour cream, and a zesty sauce in a soft flour tortilla, which got soggy and fell apart, definitely not what you'll find at fish taco places like Rubio's and Wahoo's (grilled fish). A big five stars! This place is amazing and delicious! Fresh food with such a nice flare for spice. We enjoyed the queso, quesadillas, tacos and the California burrito. The California Burrito was delicious! Such a fun idea to add French fries and it was delicious! Not many places do you find home made, delicious chips and a great pico salsa! I even finished with a fried icecream and it didn't disappoint. I would highly recommend this place. No masks or any BS required. Ordered the queso for the first time tonight- $8.49 *I think this is a new item* We picked up the order right on time and the "queso" was cold and obviously was just melted cheese with corn and peppers in it. Oil was separated and cheese had hardened again. I guess it didn't taste horrible but it's listed as queso- this is just melted cheese and oil. Also just a note after reading other reviews- being short staffed and "covid times" is absolutely no excuse for this type of service. I know many who have worked here... terrible management When you are running a business you can not make excuses and blame ur mistakes and issues on covid. Everyone is short staffed... Food was great and drinks were tasty. The 3 stars is from the beginning of my dining experience. It was our first time at this place and no one to greet us at the door. Then we walked into the dine in area and no one greeted us again. I stopped a waiter to ask if there were any tables and he tried to ignore me and walk away but then said "I don't know the tables are all full" the bartender overheard and said hers were full as well. I asked if there was going to be one open or if I could put down my name and they said they didn't know when. I almost walked out until a table got up and left. The service was good after this point and I have no complaints. The female bartender was our waitress and was friendly after and we had no problems with the service. We overheard someone else complain about the same thing after and realized we didn't know walk in at a bad time and this place is just disorganized. The owner needs to train the staff or come up with a solution here because this can be devastating for a business. I would be mortified if I knew this was happening at my business. read more

Although we do don't eat here often we are always very happy with the food,drinks and service. We live in central Ma and travel to our condo in Ogunquit about twice a month and every few weeks stop at this place. We recently found the happy hour drinks and appetizers! The small nachos, chili fries and fried raviolis where excellent! We order a meal but ended up having it to go along with our leftover appetizers.
