a few friends and myself were seated at the bar yesterday around 1ish. we couldn't have had better service, all around from our bartender, Shannon. She gave us great recommendations while we had some great laughs. She had to step away for a moment and we were greeted by Theresa, who was just as welcoming and personable. She asked if there was anything we needed at the moment, but with our delicious drinks we were enjoying were still pretty full, we thanked her, and she let us know she was right there in case the need for anything else should arise. When Shannon returned, she apologized for stepping away, which in turn we replied, "no apologies needed! you were gone for 2 minutes!" Immediately following our short conversation, the owner shows up on the side of the bar and COMPLETELY BERATES our bartender for stepping away for a minute or two. the worst part? she had absolutely no shame in reprimanding her in front of her very content and happy patrons! We were so appalled by the owners actions, we decided to shortly pay our tab and leave. For this and this reason alone, we will NEVER be back. We've also made friends and the like aware of an owner who has the audacity to act like this, not only in front of customers, but what we can imagine on a regular basis. Came here on a whim after a day of drinking beer. Sat at the bar and had the most friendly bartenders serving us (which makes it hard for me to give a 2-star rating). But, the food was only okay, at best. Maybe I'm just a Mexican food snob after growing up in Texas, but generally, I haven't found a place in New England that stacks-up to the food I grew up with. The queso was not creamy at all (very hard to eat with chips), and the quesadillas with ground beef were nothing to write home about (in my opinion). They do offer chicken, fajita beef, and other options, too, so I would recommend trying those instead if you order a meal with meat. read more

Dog food quality meat, except for the ceviche and chicken tinga. That's kind of how I would sum up this place. And if you're vegan, forget about it. I have tried ordering so many different ways here since going vegan and this place is impossible. How hard is it to have Mexican style tacos with beans and avocado instead of meat? Apparently very hard. I got the vegetarian tacos w/o cheese once, and they didn't come with guacamole on them which the menu stated they did, and the manager fought with me about it. This is not going to be one I want to but feel I should write . On a friends recommendation I decided to try this place out. Good location and plenty of parking. We arrive and grab a spot in the bar. It was 3:00 and with the pleasant surprise looking me in the eyes Happy Hour! We sit and order a couple of drinks and scan the menu for some late lunch choices. So the guys start flapping their gum s telling motorcycle stories. I have been to plenty of restaurants, bars, dive bars and complete and total s@&$ holes in my life. Never have I felt like the bartender or some of the staff should have stepped in and controlled the conversation. Problem is it is not a dive bar so the loud inappropriate language should have been stopped for the good of the rest of the patrons. Conversation went to places like AIDS in the 1980s. Naked women with electrical tape on their breasts. Abortions . Birth control by placing an aspirin between a woman's knees. And on and on . All of the females left . Were they leaving or were they done hearing grown frat boy talk.This is a family style restaurant. Why they allowed it to go on I have no idea. It s a real shame. Loco Coco's has some great burritos. When you walk in, the restaurant offers both self service ordering and full service dining. I stopped in for lunch and ordered the Large steak Burrito which was delicious! The large size is served on a 12in (as apposed to 10in for small) flour tortilla and comes packed with lots of food. All burritos come with Pinto Beans, rice, jack/cheddar cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, avocado sauce & sour cream. The combination makes this a super messy and incredibly delicious burrito! To be fair... I did not declare my dismay there and then. Hence, I denied the owner an opportunity to address the problem. To be fair... I felt the situation would be better served if I let some time pass. Background: I live in NJ and hoped to enjoy a past delight from a previous vacation. Ooofff, I was sorely disappointed. A few years back, 538.com did a March Madness type bracket challenge and declared their California Burrito to be one of the best in the US -- back then I thought it might be true. Sadly, it is no longer the case. It was dry and haphazardly made. When the server did her perfunctory drive-by, I emphatically gestured for her to actually return to the table for my answer. I requested salsa because the burrito was dry and needed a flavor boost. In quick order, a small dish of Pico de Gallo (salsa fresca) was presented. When the bill came, I was miffed to learn a paltry quantity of diced tomato, onion, jalapeño and cilantro cost $4.99. (The raw goods and the wages involved to produce that one scoop is well under a buck, so, at least one portion should be "free" to the customer, no?) I was not told there was to be a charge even though some type of condiment should be included with the dry chips that accompanied my burrito. If I ordered a cheeseburger deluxe (fancy term for "comes with fries") and requested ketchup because none was offered and then subsequently secretly charged, I would be equally annoyed. To be fair... some people abuse "endless" chips and salsa. This is not close to the reality here. The owner feels $4.99 for a pittance of salsa is fair, so, I didn't expect my irritation to be a surprise. Therefore I let I ride. I was on vacation and I didn't want an irksome situation to intrude on my good time. My patronage is a moot poin, yet this sharp and sneaky practice should be outed because there are many people who will silently acquiesce. Writing this now? It's not brave any means. But it was wise to be cool, calm and collected before I did so. I do hope to inform unsuspecting customers -- locals and visitors, both -- and possibly inspire/shame the adoption of a one dish of "free" salsa policy. read more

My husband and I doing what we can to support small businesses and local restaurants. Tonight we went to loco cocos where they are now charging a buck for 4oz of chipotle sauce due to the pandemic, which is fine. Totally worth it as usually there food is pretty good. I revisited Loco Cocos this month and was really disappointed at the quality of the food I received. I ordered take out for myself and coworkers. The burrito I ordered was overfilled and a mess to eat but the worst part was the veggies inside tasted like they had been reheated from frozen which was a huge turn off. The Guacamole was good but I don't think I will be returning anytime soon. I love this place!! It's often where my husband and I go on lunch dates. It's a perfect place for that, on the self seating side. The full service side is a better dinner option! We always order a taco salad (which I love because of the crispy shell) and California fries to share between us. The food is always fresh and fantastic! I agree with some of the other reviews saying that they lack a little something in the spice dept. which is why I often hit up the sauce station, and get some habenero sauce and some avocado sauce. The prices are good considering portion sizes too. And I like how the burritos come with pita chips because at some Mexican establishments chips cost extra. Probably the worst meal we had on a ten day vacation in New England and for a while. The owner ought to taste his wares and see if they are watering down the drinks or if his bartenders are competent. I ordered the carnitas tacos for my dinner, which were OK, but they do have a hot sauce table and I found a good habanero sauce to spice it up. My wife's meal did not go as well. She ordered the tamale and taco with rice and beans. The beef tamale had very little to no beef and the plate was luke warm. The rice and beans had little flavor. Food - 2 - Drinks subpar, food bland and served Luke warm. Enough said. Service - 2/3 - We were the first ones seated in their 3 season porch and service was pleasant but not prompt. Atmosphere - 3 - We were seated in an outside covered seating area with plastic on walls. It was comfortably warm but no Mexican restaurant feel to it except for their hot sauce bar. Price 1 - $75 for a Mexican food dinner and I have to pay for the chips and salsa and then have subpar food. OA - 2 - There are much better places for your money. Never again! read more

What a serendipitous find! We had started to go to another restaurant when my youngest said "let's get tacos!" Absolutely delicious! Once we made our choices after looking over the extensive menu (you have *a lot* of choices - everyone could find something) we walked up to the counter and ordered. Super easy - drinks and food were delivered right to our table. The Guacamole en Molcajete was incredible (definitely getting that again). I had enchiladas mole and my husband had three different tacos (bahn-mi, shrimp, beef). One kiddo had a quesadilla and the other created their own burrito. Newer to the area, I came here after a friend recommended this spot to me. I was craving a burrito, and since I was nearby, I stopped in one early Friday evening, and the place was steadily busy. I think I just barely beat the dinner rush when I showed up around 6pm. I ordered the California Burrito because I missed the fun kinds of burritos that I used to get back home in California, so I went for the name. The burrito itself was fine, but it wasn't amazing. It was a little too watery, in my opinion. I think that played a part in it lacking flavor as well. I wish they used actual avocado as opposed to avocado sauce because the burrito would likely be less watery and a little more flavorful, but I know that avocados are more of a luxury out here these days, so that might not be a possibility. It wasn't the kind of California Burrito that I would get back in California, but I appreciate the effort. I wouldn't order the same thing again, nor would I go out of my way to come back here, but I also wouldn't completely dismiss the opportunity to try other menu items here if it ever presented itself. read more
