We couldn't find a single place to have lunch or dinner on the beach in Melbourne and this is probably as close as we could get. In fact, if this guy could find a spot of land on the beach it probably would make this place nearly perfect. The food is good and the atmosphere of an old Florida beach side bar is all there... just no beach!!! The hot dogs were good and creative and the wings were tasty as well. They've got a nice bar, outdoor seating and a TV for watching sports events. We didn't have any problems with service or food while there... and we went twice. This was a great little place near the ocean. The local surf shop (Catalyst) told us to try it for a good lunch. I was impressed with the food and the service. Ordered the Desperado Avocado Tuna appetizer which was a fried Wonton bowl with Ahi tuna, avocado, and cucumber in a sesame sauce. There was a ton of tuna. We could have made this a meal. My wife ordered their Banzai shrimp bowl (think bam bam shrimp) which was shrimp over a bed of jasmine rice and black beans. This was served with fried sweet plantains that were super sweet and delicious. I couldn't decide between a hot dog (the name is Long Doggers) and a burger. So I ordered the Dewey Weber burger which had a medium rare burger topped with a hot dog. The dog was snappy and tasted amazing. The sweet potato fries were crispy and still sweet. The whole meal was only $40 so the prices were fair for a restaurant in a tourist location. Will definitely make the trip back to Melbourne, Florida to eat at Long Doggers. read more

During our vacation I took my family to Long Doggers based on a review from someone else on Yelp who says this is the first place they like to go for lunch when in Florida. It isn't a 4star restaurant with waiters and fancy tables but I would say it was a 4 star bar and grill. The food was cooked well and the people working there were happy and helpful. Nice little beach dive bar. Location doesn't look like much but the food is good. We started with the queso bites which were good, crispy, melt in your mouth. Kid doesn't usually like things like this but he ate two. I had the fish and chips and the large portion was almost too much. Stopped in to grab some food which was pretty good. However, I decided to give this location 1 star because while I was eating my dinner I witnessed the manager yell at a patron who was served (twice) with a food that contained an allergen to him. The patron was attempting to explain that he had an allergy and was served his food twice but the manager started to scream at him for trying to "pull a fast one" and get his meal for free. I was shocked that management would treat a customer in such an abusive way. Even though I was not a part of this incident, it made me so uncomfortable that I do not feel welcome to eat here ever again. It was a shocking thing to witness. read more

Everyone was pleasant the food was good. the famous fish sandwich was perfectly fried and such a large portion that it overran the bun which seemed homemade and fresh! My wife and I decided to try this place, mainly on name. LOL. The outside, as we approached, was questionable at best. As we wandered in, we were greeted by WELCOME, written in chalk. There were servers who told us to sit where we wanted. Michela greeted us and were on our every need, (which wasn't much) even when she had 5 others. I've been coming to Long Dogger's for over 10 years, so it's safe to say that I'm a fan. No shoes, no shirt, no problem is posted on their door, and it's a fact! LD's is a fun, beachy, loud joint that serves burgers, wings, hot dogs and beer... and they also serves up great fish. Waitstaff are friendly, attractive young ladies who work as a team for quick service, and to keep your beer from getting too empty. The foot long hot dogs are the best deal (try the Rueben Dog), the wings are good, and they have the best deal in town on a Seared Tuna appetizer. I've been coming here for almost 2 years and today was very disappointing. After my Mahi bowl was dry and my girlfriends sandwhich was also dry we let the waitress know and she proceeded to get us something different which was fine but they offered no discount or anything for our wasted time and charged us extra as my girlfriend had to get the shrimp bowl since she is pescatarian and mahi is the only fish they had that she would eat.
