The worse experience at a Longhorn. My steak was not cooked right and had a lot of gristle. The manager seemed like she could care less. I very rarely send anything back. But usually the manager will ask if they could get me anything else or at least offer to make me another one. Not this time. The service was terrible. We had to ask for more tea and water. Not one time did our server ever ask if she could get us anything or how we were doing. This makes me sad because I use to love going to Longhorn. read more

Wow! What a restaurant! My first time at Longhorn. We usually go to Logan's in San Antonio. The young hostess, servers: Denice and Tess, and the manager helped make our fun night with my parents very enjoyable. But the star was their delicious food. The chopped mixed greens salad side was way bigger than most side salads, the blue cheese dressing was the best a, and that honey bread- mmmm- pillowy on the inside and crisp and toasty on the outside and hot so the butter melts. My parents split a tasty, well-seasoned New York strip, and my husband and i had the 6 oz sirloin. Applause to the grillers, as mine came out perfectly medium rare. I took my son and his family to Longhorn for his birthday. Everything was perfect. We order the Flos filet. It was so tender and delicious. The kids got chicken fried chicken and a hamburger. The waitress brought out this beautiful ice cream dessert for my son. What a great way to spend a rainy day. Tess was our waitress and did an awesome job. We dined the first week after the restaurants opened after quarantine so the menu was limited. Our server was great. She was very friendly and professional. Martinis hit the spot and exactly as ordered. Bone in ribeye was delicious! Cooked and seasoned very well. The best steak we've had since moving to Texas 4 months ago. Got a take-out order which consisted of the Outlaw ribeye and the Bourbon glazed salmon. Both were delicious, moist and tender. Vegetables (baked sweet potatoes and rice) were also tasty. When I picked them up, the to-go waitress made sure we got the bread and all the other condiments. The interior of the restaurant looked cleaned and nicely decorated in a western motif. Three couples were seated before us that checked in after us. Then I was told that there was no way I could have seen them checked in before us. And yes they had the same amount of people as we did. Lady was rude and could not give us another estimated time. So our 40 minute wait time was an hour at minimum. And was told it would still be another 40 minutes. The portions were just about right, we had an appetizer as well as some fresh bread w/ butter that they served. Went there for lunch today about 2 o'clock the waiter brought us some bread it was so old and knocked it on the table can you put the knife through it as with some fresh bread he bought us and bread and no flavor at all to it or taste. We did have to ask the guy cleaning tables to get our waiter for refills. He ended up sending over the manager and she refilled our drinks. Went last night to celebrate my son's birthday. One son ordered the shrimp which was good. The birthday boy ordered the fillet which was really good. I ordered the rib eye which was terrible. It tasted like it was from denny's. I ordered it rare came out medium. Menu said it was juicy and flavorful. It was anything but that. I was going to complain but my sons told me not to. My husband and I have been eating at Longhorn at this location for the past 5 years. On our most recent visit in January, we discovered that our favorite waitress, Laurie, did not work there anymore. I arrived at the restaurant ahead of the rest of my family in order to have a surprise birthday dinner for my husband. The hostess allowed me to select the perfect seating. Our waitress, Kalyn, arrived soon after I was seated and upon learning of my surprise event she offered a dessert and a song to be sung with fellow coworkers to my husband. Throughout our dinner, Kalyn, made sure we were satisfied and was very attentive and friendly. We learned that she had worked for Longhorn for 12 years and she served us so devotedly although she had other tables. Kalyn had every detail covered and impressively took a picture of us, printed it out, and personalized it as a keepsake for us. Even the manager, Billy Banks, visited our table and wished my husband a "Happy Birthday". Once Mr. Banks learned that my husband was a veteran, he genuinely thanked him for his service with a kind gesture. Not only that, Mr. Banks came back as we were getting ready to leave, invited us to return, and provided his business card as he walked with us to the door. I have never received such caring and amazing hospitality from a restaurant with impeccable service. From the appetizer to dessert everything was delicious and the overall experience was far beyond our expectations. Before our magical evening got underway my husband told our 17-year-old son, who orchestrated how to get my husband to Longhorn, he did not want to come to Longhorn. Nevertheless, my husband regretted saying that as he had a fantastic birthday. My daughter even commented that her steak was as "smooth as butter." We would like to extend special thanks to Kalyn K., whom we will request on future visits, and to Mr. Billy Banks, as well as the entire Longhorn staff. I really want to like this place...and there are so any good things, but several glaringly bad. First...I do adjust my expectation when dining out. Yes, Longhorn is a chain restaurant and in general puts out some good food....but some big inconsistencies in their steak temps...more about that later. The Good - the service and the manager at this particular Longhorn are exceptional. Service is attentive, friendly and just damn good. The manager, Billy, has customer service nailed, and even with the missteps, he took care of us, and even gave us a gift card to come back to give them another try...which is why I give them 3 instead of 2 stars. The bad - they seem to have trouble with cooking the larger cuts of steak. Have come here before and gotten a smaller (6oz 8oz etc) steaks, as my wife did tonight, and they were cooked perfectly. I'm a Med-rare guy, and tonight (as well as at least two other occasions) my 10oz filet came out with a nice seat on the outside, but still cold and "blue" on the inside. Definitely needed 4-5min and it would have been good. I always cut all the way through a steak to check, and as anyone knows, once you cut it, putting the same steak back on the grill is a no-no as the juices will escape. I called the server (who was awesome), sent it back, and shortly the kitchen manager came back out with the same steak, cut in half and pretty much well done at that point. This is my main reason for the lower rating that one of the mangers actually did that rather than re-firing a new steak. We brought this to the attention of the server, and obviously sent it back said they would fix a new one...then the wait began...so long in fact I asked for our check and decided to leave (me without eating). Now some more good - The general manager then came over told me that the bill (my wife's included) was taken care of AND brought us a $40 gift card to give hem a try again on him. That's AWESOME customer service!! All in all, not a bad place but definitely some improvements need to be made. read more

My goodness, that was a hell of a meal. Started off with the Butcher Board (grilled sausage and fried Oaxaca cheese) and an order of the stuffed mushrooms. OMG! After that, we were almost too full to eat our meal... ALMOST. Instead, we got the Outlaw Ribeye, medium rare of course. It was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was PHENOMENAL. If you put steak sauce on this thing, you should be hung by your short hairs, of ya know what I mean. Now that we were absolutely stuffed, we passed on desert even though we were celebrating a special occasion. But I'll be damned, the server (Mary - ask for her because I know I will next time I come in) brought my mom out a beautiful ice cream Sunday that we just had to eat. I met my wife & her parents for lunch today. For a chain restaurant, this place is pretty damn good. This was only the 3rd time we have visited this location. Every time, the service has been top notch. The manager has even stopped by each time to check on us. Today, we had a coupon for a free appetizer. We chose the Texas brisket queso. It was a little greasy & a lot spicy. For our entrees, my MIL & her BF went with the CFS. My wife selected the strawberry salad w/ buttermilk chicken. All 3 seemed to really enjoy their plates. I'm not sure which part of longhorn steakhouse I love the most, the owner Billy Banks or our usual server, Liz. Sadly enough, they both know us by name, always sit us in our favorite seat and Liz always, always, always knows what we will order! The menus change during the different seasons & some things I wish they would keep all year around. There is no msg in the steak seasoning they cook with. Thick steaks are always grilled to perfection. Love the fried green tomatoes. Price is reasonable for the quality of meat. Low key environment. Porterhouse and tbone are awesome, also love the prime rib! Love it! I get the seasoning for the corn on the side so I can't control how much, wish I had asked for the sauce on the fried green tomatoes to be on the side, I will next time. I have lived in the area since this restaurant opened and I usually give a place a few months to work out the wrinkles. But I had heard negative feedback so I never went. This past weekend I attended a bday dinner here and I was very impressed. Ordered the ribeye medium rare, Ceasar salad and Brussel sprouts. The salad came first and it was very fresh. The steak was perfect and right at wellness. There was a heavy pepper flavor but the quality and taste were the best steak I've had in a long time. The sprouts arrived as advertised and were tasty but I will try something different next time. We had a party of 18 and we had to be separated with no more than 8/table which was a little frustrating but ended up working out ok. Garbage. That may be a tad bit harsh but it's TRUE. I had an unpleasant time at this place and it was nothing short of torture. It was on fathers day and we were expecting some sort of a wait but when we got there we were told it was a 25 minute wait. So waited and waited. Then we started to see a party of 2 and a party of 8 that came in after us get sat before us. At this point it was a 40 minute wait. When we asked the hostesses what was wrong they said we weren't on the list and another person next to us had the same problem. Apparently, this place needs to work on training their staff better because there was no excuse for this. We are mad and hungry at this point and of course the staff could give 2 sh*ts. So we get sat and everything seems fine. I look around and see that the managers visit each table to say hi. I feel like this would be a great time to complain about the front desk. Spoiler alert: they somehow manage to go to every table but ours. We order two apps and one comes out. No attempt to make this right. The entrees come out and this place manage to not mess that up. I've been to LongHorn Steakhouse twice now. I don't get it, each time I've been I have a great meal but someone at our table has a terrible meal. What gives? Am I bad luck for my others when dining there? I will first say that while I've frequented Saltgrass Steakhouse more often, LongHorn Steakhouse can certainly hold their own. Between the two establishments their are many similarities but plenty of differences. The staff was very friendly and quite personable. Management was always very approachable and ready to do what needed to be done to fix anything wrong. (More on this later.) I think this stems from the fact that they know their competition and they're ready to take them on! The staff are knowledgeable and pleasant. Our waiter(s) kept our water glasses tended to throughout the whole meal. The quality of the food is quite decent and the pricing matches. One thing I do like is that they're very upfront with their portion size. "Do you want the 8oz, 10oz, or 12oz?" This works very well for me. Another plus (over Saltgrass) is they cook their stakes exactly how you tell them. If I order medium, it is actually medium. This proved true both times for everyone at our table. This is something for the 'pro' column. As for the 'con' column? Well, like I said, both times I've been they really killed one meal at the table. The first time they ribeye was more than half fat. It was really quite inedible. Sure, while I was happily enjoying my own ribeye, across the table their own ribeye was grossing out my table-mate. Two of the same cuts of meat, one was delicious and perfect -- the other was ...well, gross. Management was quick to respond to her cries and replaced her steak very quickly plus took the appetizer off of the bill. The next time it was my visiting sister-in-law who had a filet that tasted like chemicals. What's up with that? The two other filet steaks on the table were just fine and delicious (I was enjoying the ribs). Luckily management was able to replace the steak quickly and also help out on the bill. I'm not sure how much caution is warranted, but it would seem they stand behind their food so you should be in good hands. read more

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite places. I am really confused on why it has bad ratings. The food is excellent. The service is amazing and I have never had one issue. So Thursday a couple of us were feeling in the mood for dessert. It was 9pm and we headed over to long horn. Now I have seen this place packed before. But, I have never eaten here when it has been busy. Ever. We walked in and see these massive tables of ppl and kids. I asked the host to seat us away from children if possible. It took a minute, they cleaned off a table and wha-la. I asked to be seated away from children because I am an adult with a group of other adults. I don't know why restaurants seat adults next to children. More times then not my conversations are not pg13. Then I have some parent staring at me. Pet pev. Moving on. We had excellent service! Our drink were never empty, our plates came out fast, he always made sure our coffee was hot and we were the table out of the way in the back. He could have forgotten us. Came in with a family of 5 told me wait so they can clean a table (we waited 10-15mins) and another family came in family of 6 ("all American") came to request a table and was seated as soon as they came in (which was after us) I spoke to the man who was seating people he looked like the manager there not sure but When I told him why were they seated before us!?! because we been waiting for a table for quite a while. He told me oh they are still cleaning our table which the other family got a table before us. I told him that was very rude of you to do that. I walked out with my family to go some where else. Tried this place last night for the first time, as we had received a gift certificate from a friend for Christmas. We got there late and friend joined us right at 11pm (closing time). Oops. The hostess was a little out of it at first and the initial greet from our waiter was slow (actually nonexistent). We had to flag the hostess down with a "wth" kinda look. BUT, when he got to us, it all got better. He was very nice and it didn't seem to bother him that we were dining so late. We didn't feel rushed. (We did end up being the last customers there and they said jokingly "you are the latest people we have ever had here!" I had the Longhorn Salmon. It was marinated in a Bourbon marinade. It was delicious. I had it with the green beans and subbed the mixed veggies for the rice. All the veggies were super fresh and perfectly cooked, as was the fish. I had the Blue Cheese salad...wow! Whole romaine leaves topped with tomatoes, blue cheese, bacon, red onions and a blue cheese dressing. It was SO good and both my dining companions were jealous. They both had a Caesar and said it was good, too. One had a fillet off the lite dining menu and it was great and cooked perfectly. The other had the Rainbow trout with a fabulous topping of shrimp and lobster. That dish was great, too. We all shared bites. Overall, was a big hit and nice change of the usual steak places we go to. We look forward to going back and trying other things. I want to get a steak next time.
