Breakfast review: They have a sister store on N. Lamar. I like this joint better. This review is for the breakfast only. They have the same good deals as their sister store. Get there between 0600 - 1100 and you can eat cheap. 4 - 6 $ plate deals and taco deals. The breakfast food is good and the service is usually pretty good. If they get crowded, well, you know. My favorite breakfast plates here are the Huevos a la Mexicana (sometimes con queso['coz I'm all about that white cheese]) and the Huevos Rancheros. Sometimes the Huevos a la Mexicana comes out with way too much jalapenos, which is a disappointment. I guess it depends on whose cooking? I have tried the Migas here and I didn't really care for it. It was more like tortilla strips and white cheese. MEH. The staff are friendly and the place is really clean. It is small and can fill up quickly. If you are looking for a good cheap breakfast non-American style, give this place a try. I am a bacon freak and every time I order a side of bacon here they bring me like nine pieces!! This place is great. We went for breakfast but I'm looking forward to eating lunch here sometimes. We went on a Saturday morning and they were very busy. I ordered the huevos rancheros. They were great. It was served with refried beans and fried potatoes. They both were awesome. The ranchero sauce was very flavorful. The eggs were done a perfect over easy. I have ordered them twice now and both times were the same and terrific. Consistency is the key. We like the salsa verde so you have to ask for a bottle of it in the mornings. Especially with CoronaVirus, this restaurant is putting all of Austin at risk. I found significant larva and large flying bugs in my drinks there. Larva only means the bugs have been reproducing. I can only imagine the amount of germs that would be found in their kitchen! This experience also has horrible optics. My girlfriend and I each ordered a drink. Her drink was sickening sweet, and I asked for a remake (I even took a sip to verify). They didn't want to make a new one without charging me for the old one plus the new. It's not like she finished her drink before asking for a new one. After a big altercation, they finally agreed to remake it to go. I guarantee a lot of people would assume it was intentional. I ordered food to go. The person who gave me my order had her mask under her nose. Another employee did not have a mask at all. There was no spacing with guests dining in. They fall within Williamson County where the guidelines are very LAX. However, the restaurant needs its own policy in place. There are signs on the door about masks, but obviously some employees were not adhering to the instructions. Only one employee had gloves on. read more

They serve four salsas with the chips. The Chilanga is phenomenal. We came here to have some Menudo. It was great. They don't serve the posole, so you need to ask to have it added. They have breakfast specials till 11am. After 11 you get charged $2 more. No problem except I ordered my plate at 10:50 am. When I checked out after 11 I was charged the extra $2.00. While she was ringing it up I asked her how much the plate was because it seemed high. She brushed me off and told me it will be on the receipt. After I got the receipt I moved on cause there was a line and she was being pushy. I looked at it and sure enough she up charged me. I've been going there for years but it's getting ridiculous. They pretend not to speak English when convenient. I'm not going to argue with them. There are other places to eat. I'm done with Taqueria Guadalajara. Hasta La vista baby! And they now add a 3% fee that they don't tell you about. You can't raise prices and charge an illegal fee on top of that . May have to call the state. read more

Within 5 minutes, someone placed an order on the counter. 10 minutes later, the cashier tells me my order is ready. I asked her if it was the one that had been sitting there for 10 minutes. I had been keeping an eye on it, but was hoping it was for a phone order. She said no, it just came out. I opened it up and it was already barely warm. I let her know and left. We've eaten breakfast here a couple of times and have always had a really good experience. The huevos rancheros are really good, with a flavorful ranchero sauce they really works with those fried eggs. The retried beans and breakfast potatoes round it all out just right. I've had their breakfast plate as well, with scrambled eggs and bacon and beans and potatoes, good stuff. Their salsa is nice and has a good flavor without too much heat. If you want some heat ask for their green salsa, it has some heat and a nice garlic background flavor. It goes great with the eggs. The staff is friendly and the prices for breakfast are very reasonable. I've only had breakfast here, but I do plan on trying their lunch menu in the near future. read more

They have gone from pretty good to don't waste your money. We have been coming here for over 5 years. It was one of our fav Taqueria's. Tonight, we left hungry and will never return. 2 of our 3 simple dinner orders were set in front of us wrong. We were able to see the dinner ticket and the waitress did write it down correctly. So the being prepared wrong food rests more on the kitchen but the waitress should have noticed. When they delivered the food and we pointed out the error they took one of the plates and disappeared. Mine was still wrong and sitting in front of me. It's something I wouldn't order or much less eat. So I waited for someone to resurface... I mean surely they would refill our drinks, chips, check on us right? Nope. After 15 minutes we walk up to the register. She rang up all the meals. I said nope. Let's try that again. She then said, "why did you eat your food and now complain?" Uh oh. OH NO SHE DIDN'T. So I walked back to the table grabbed my plate and set it on the counter. "I didn't and no one ever came back to the table - you were all hiding in the kitchen until those people entered." There's nothing over-stated about this place. No fancy linens, no high-end art on the wall, no reservation list or for that matter a wine list. This is as basic as it gets. Bright yellow walls, random mismatched decor and hand written signs letting you know Tripe tacos are now available. Solid, consistent and predictable tex-mex and tacos. I've been here more times than I care to admit. Breakfast, especially, is beyond cheap but oh so filling and tasty. Friday, we decided to hit the new Vivos on 620 but they were closed until 4 (WTF). So we popped across the street over to what used to be a 7-11, now Taqueria Guadalajara (damn that was hard to type). The salsa that they put on the table (a semi-runny tomato based salsa and also a slightly spicy green salsa) were both fantastic. I had the crispy tacos, which were good and overflowing with a shredded white cheese I think may have been Monterey Jack. Husband had the Cuban Torta which he loved and also a Chalupa (not sure what they called it on the menu). All items came to $11.00. Sorry Vivo. First time here went last night. 9-14-16 Let me start by BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE it was not even 10:29 pm last night and they were closed. Since we've been here this is the first "authentic" Mexican place we've eaten at. Compared to what we're used to (San Diego Mexican food...yummy) This place was a joke. My bf thought it was ok, he got a carne asada burrito. Instead of the carne asada being chopped up and already inside the burrito, it was just the whole piece of meat, on the plate, with the tortillas on the side and also some soggy looking green beans, not sure what that had to do with anythig, I think they just threw it in for good measure. I got 2 tacos...they were DISGUSTING. The meat tasted old and completely watered down, no flavor at all and water was dripping out of the tacos, which at one point fell apart in the middle because they were so wet and the rice and beans that came with it tasted like and smelled like nasty. A woman came in that had called her order in about 20 min prior to showing up and she had to wait an additional 25 min to get it, she only had 2 small things. I will NEVER eat here again. Apparently this happens a lot. 2nd time, we eat, food is decent, service is AWFUL. 3rd time, we order 28 tacos to go. We order at 10:55am to take advantage of the taco deal, pick up at 11:15am. Total came out very high, and when I asked about the taco deal, she literally just said, "nope." One of the girls even said (in Spanish - I speak it), "Why is the total so high?" It's Mex-Mex rather than Tex-Mex so if you're expecting Pappasitos you might be disappointed. So I feel that it should be judged in comparison to other "Taquerias". The food is very good. The prices are extraordinarily inexpensive, the portions are more than ample, and the service is fast. Its definitely not glamorous but it is an enjoyable experience. I like to grab breakfast tacos here occasionally on the weekends with my 4 year old. The wife doesn't care for this place so much so it has become our father-daughter place. We both share chorizo, bean, and cheese tacos and love it. We prefer them with corn tortillas. The chorizo is greasy and spicy and goes great with the monterrey jack cheese. The creamy refried beans bind the whole assembly together nicely. If your open to a "no egg" breakfast taco, I highly recommend it. I've also had the occasional lunch here with coworkers. They serve a solid dipping queso. The tacos and gorditas are all very good. The enchiladas are meh. My favorite lunch is the combination plate where you select two meat entrees which are served with rice, beans, salad, and avocado. My favorite meats include the Al Pastor, beef fajita, and chicken fajita. The combination lunch is in the $6 range as I recall. Guadalajara is my favorite restaurant in the "Taqueria" class in Austin. My rule of thumb is to award 4 stars to anything that is "best in class" (5th star if they are outstanding beyond their class). Therefore, Taqueria Guadalajara gets 4 stars despite the lackluster ambiance. Until I find something better anyway. read more

Not the most glamorous of locations but if you're in the mood for a quick bite of pretty authentically Mexican, not TEXICAN food, this a good spot! Easy on the Wallet, (Taco's are $1.59, Burritos are $2.99, Guacamole is $2.49) Guadalajara is better than the other little taco stands we've tried in the area. The place is usually pretty easy to get into and get service quick except for breakfast time on the weekends when they're packed! While they do offer tacos to go, I personally prefer to eat there to take advantage of their chips and amazing home made salsas! Sure, they have your standard red and green fare, but they also have salsa #3... A creative variation on the green tomato salsa with avocado and salt... different and delicious! read more

I have only been here for breakfast and I like it! They have a good selection. Burritos, tacos, pancakes, and good breakfast platters. It is really affordable which makes it easy to stop by frequently. The staff is really friendly. They all get along so well with one another and with their customers, especially their regulars. Oh, and you know how sometimes at other places you end up with a waiter or waitress who cant quite get it together and check on you frequently? Not here. They all help each other. Different ladies will come and refill your drink and just check up on you. I love that! The environment just makes you feel right at home. For those of you who like to jam out while eating, they have a jukebox for you! All in all, I would recommend this place for breakfast. I used to love this place, the food is good, but if you order online or over the phone chances are they're going to mess up your order. They gave me a completely different order. Runny eggs and corn tortillas as well. My partners order had asked for no tomato's in his burrito and it was stuffed to the brim with tomato's almost appearing spiteful.
