I do not like to leave bad reviews especially because I've been coming to the Lost Pier Café since they opened. I've told literally hundreds of people about the place and 'raved' about them on Yelp and other social media sites because you can't beat the ambience and the service has always been very good! However, today was my first day back since this summer and I can't believe they RAISED their prices yet AGAIN!! They've systematically increased their prices every year since they've opened (which is understandable during these times) but now they've increased it that they're now charging $18 for a tuna melt, $16 for the breakfast croissant sandwich I used to get weekly. I'm sorry, but I will NEVER buy from here again. We'd rather sit on the beach, pack our food and schlep it here before giving one penny back to this crook! Gouging your customers (especially locals) is WRONG on every level!! I don't care who you are or what establishment you own, it's not right!!! This is NOT The Ranch (but it sure is the Ranch prices!) it's a beach snack bar!!! I was in the food business 40 years and no one can tell me tuna fish, bread, and cheese has gone up that much in food cost where you charge $18!!! I still have their prices from the first year they opened compared to the current prices and it's over a 50% increase, this is BAD business! The food is pretty good. Tough to beat the location. Big parking lot shared with Alison Beach. Take a break from sunbathing and swimming in the ocean to grab a lobster roll and a beer here. The food is out quick and the view is all beach. Makes for a great beach day. read more

Honestly this spot is great! They have great food. I recommend the clam chowder or the fish and chips. They've got good pina coladas and smoothies too. Hot dogs for kids if they're not into seafood. Service is good. It's a small spot but they're super nice and the kitchen is efficient. It's right on the beach so there's a view that you can't beat. read more

Awesome place for what it is. Killer location right on the beach! Pricing is very reasonable and service is quick. They have extensive beer and wine options as well as some cocktails. The food menu is a bit limited. The fish and chips were underwhelming. The gluten free options are barely existent and they did not seem to be too knowledgeable about cross contamination. The pigeons were quite aggressive and assaulted my wife. They even have signs warning you about their behavior. However, this kind of added to the ambiance giving you a full coastal experience. Definitely a great spot to enjoy a drink and soak in the picturesque beach vibes, but I don't know if I would go out of my way for the food. read more

We live in South Laguna and often go to the lost pier for afternoon drinks and a snack. It's usually excellent. We decided to go there for breakfast this morning ( May 30), and order the egg sandwich. I split it with my wife and my side didn't even have any bacon in it. It felt like it was made in a rushed way and not much egg. For the first time I have to say I'm disappointed in their food at the lost pier. It's usually very good. Hopefully they read this and make some improvements on the care they take to make that breakfast sandwich. For $15 you would expect a first class breakfast sandwich. We came to Laguna to walk around and take in the view and stopped here so my 4 year-old could use the bathroom. My wife, sounding defeated, asked "Should we just eat here?" and I know better than to argue so we did. It's easily the best meal we've had in California since we arrived four days ago. First off, since it was our first stop, the bathrooms are excellent. The counter service is casual and friendly, with a large selection of beverage options displayed. I got the breakfast burrito (at 3pm on a weekday, with an IPA - heaven!) and it rivaled if not surpassed any I've had at home in Austin. My wife had the shrimp tacos, and my older daughter had the cheeseburger. We all remarked to one another how awesome everything was, and the presentation was gorgeous for what initially appeared to be a taco stand. All of this while literally eating next to the ocean. Thank you for being an unexpected highlight of our trip! Will definitely return next time we're in Laguna. read more

Birthday week work trip and found this little gem via Yelp, cuz where else?!? Took a sales partner there for lunch. We both ordered fish tacos. Normally, fish tacos come wrapped in corn tortillas yet I'm not a big fan of corn. I asked for mine sans tortillas and the girl said "would you like that in a bowl?" And I was like "YOU READ MY MIND!!!" Only I didn't say that out loud, just said "yes please". Food was fabulous, it's located directly on the beach. The only downside is fighting all the sea scavengers, aka pigeons and sea gulls, waiting and begging for scraps At one point, I was trying to shoo a bird off the table, he didn't move fast enough so I slapped his wing, then I had guilt! Beautiful location and friendly service, lots of options to choose from. However those are pretty much the only pluses. We started with the chowder which was floury and so-so on the amount of clams. The temp was also not up to par. Was more like a sludge than a chowder. But having spent many years on the east coast maybe my opinion would be skewed. We also got fish and chips and the fish was overbattered, the batter was very doughy and thick. While it was crisp, it was so greasy that if you didn't eat it in 2 minutes it would get soggy. We both peeled off most of the batter. The fish inside was fine but I dumped a healthy dose of salt and pepper on it. I did appreciate the fresh parsley on top. The fries were good and crispy but as time went on started to taste really greasy. There were washrooms nearby/attached to the cafe but pretty grimey. Lights were not working in a couple of them. All in all one star for the great view and another star for the convenient location. Next time might just have a beer and snack on some fries but that'll be it. read more

What a find! Lost Pier sure is a pleasant hideaway spot. Not many people pass through here which makes this place pleasantly appreciated. I would recommend the fish and chips. Was Really looking forward to this but what a disappointment! I would much rather pay 1/2 the price for jersey mikes and bring a beach towel and enjoy the view. Their fries are so crispy & not salty. They come with garlic aioli which is so on point. I love it. The quesadilla tastes very good, I ordered it without avocado. The cheese & chicken blend together well. The tortilla chips that come with the quesadilla are well-seasoned but they're a little salty for my taste. The prices are reasonable compared to their portion size. There are many other dishes I'd like to try. Their staff are very nice & the service is fast enough. Great place to eat after a fun day at the beach. It's located right on the beach which makes it very convenient. I was expecting generic beach food but what came out was surprisingly tasty. I got the burger and fish/chips. Burger wasn't your typical frozen patty. It was a nice flavorful blend along with some what appeared to be house made pickles and pickled red onions. It came with a side of tortilla chips that were crispy and a salsa that was fresh and spicy. The fish was lightly battered and the tartar sauce also house made. The fries were outstanding: super crispy with a nice light coating. The ranch appeared to be house made as well. So many house made items for a quick service beach restaurant was surprising and appreciated. Parking is always a pain. There's pay for parking option that is located right next to the beach/restaurant along with limited street parking and a small parking lot across the street. There's also bathrooms right next to the restaurant and a place where you can rinse off your feet if its sandy from the beach. Very much appreciated! Both the patty and hot dog had a good flavor, grilled char flavor. Veggies were good and fresh. Fries were crispy and light. Service was quick, didn't feel like I was waiting long. Me and my husband love to find beaches with cafes or restaurants close so this was a nice find. The parking is a little bit crazy since it shares with Aliso Beach, but a great place to go to even if you're not visiting the beach. Food is great, not at all like usual beach food quality. Delicious food in an amazing location. Usually when I see a small restaurant or cafe on the beach I'm skeptical, they tend to be overly touristy, overpriced, and not particularly impressive. This place is not like that at all; the food was delicious. I got the Short Rib California Burrito, and it was very solid. Good meat and incredibly fresh guacamole and shredded cabbage. It reminded me of some of the better burritos from San Diego. The location is also incredible - right on Aliso Beach with ample parking. Seating has a tendency to get filled though, and beware the seagulls. Regardless this place is absolutely worth checking out. read more

Great place for take out to your spot on the beach or just to eat at the tables in front. We got fish tacos, veggie rice bowl and quesadilla and everything came out quick and delicious. Typically these little beachfront stalls offer just grilled/fried items like burgers, hot dogs and fries. But Lost Pier offers items that really resemble those of a full-service, higher end restaurant. It's a great option if you don't feel like packing your own lunch. Around noon time on a weekend, the seating area in front filled up, but it seemed to get quieter after a couple hours and then later in the afternoon there was plenty of seating. The main thing you'll have to plan for is the parking, the small lot next to the restaurant fills up in the late morning so you'll want to come early to make sure you get a spot. read more

Came here for lunch with my boyfriend's family. I ordered the poke bowl, and i found a bug under the lettuce. I told the workers, and they gave me a stank look almost like they thought i was lying and the bug flew or crawled in there while i was sitting outside. They were like "Well you are sitting outside and bugs fly around". Yeah... obviously. But that wasn't the case. I found the bug at the bottom of the bowl in between the lettuce. I never saw a bug crawl into the bowl the entire time i was eating it. The customer is always right, the least they could've done is just apologized and remade it or offered to make something else. But no, they made me feel bad for taking it back. The workers voice was snarky and rude. I didn't realize me sending food back would make them lose money out of their paycheck, right? When they gave me the replacement food, the worker said "Watch out for the bugs" with yet another stank face. Like excuse me...what? They are acting like i'm trying to get free food. If that was the case we wouldn't be here to begin with knowing it cost about $100 total for 4 people to eat. I was extremely polite the entire situation, never in my life have i been rude over an inconvenience like that. All i said is that i found a bug in my food and was wondering if they could take it back. I did not deserve to be spoken to like that because i am not a rude customer at all. I hate to put employees on blast, but one of the workers who made such remarks was Maddex and one of the chefs. I will not be returning here. To anyone reading this, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Customer service is awful and the food could be way better for the price. read more

We stopped by for a late lunch after visiting Strands Beach in Dana Point. Parking can be a bit busy but we were able to grab a spot. We ordered the lobster roll, cheeseburger,ceviche and delicious strawberry drinks! The food was delicious and we sat by the beach with a lovely view to enjoy the food. Love this little beach front cafe! Wonderful food, wonderful drinks and wonderful vibe! We ordered the hot dog, veggie bowl, chicken tenders and avocado toast! All very good and unexpected from this beach front cafe! Drinks: pina colada and banana chocolate coffee were a 5/5! I liked the vacay vibes at this casual beach bar/grill spot. The atmosphere is of course great because you're right on the beach and it's stunning at Aliso Creek beach with turquoise waters and soft sand. There was plenty of seating and chill music playing. At one point the line had gotten long but I was third in line so I didn't have to wait that long to order. I won't say that the food is gourmet or somewhere you'd go to eat if you weren't at the beach and needed the convenience, but it wasn't bad! There were lots of drink options too - freshly mixed liquor at a little outdoor bar stand or canned beers. The menu online was not up to date with what they actually had available on their menu. We ordered chicken tenders for my son (the fries were actually goated!!) a crispy chicken sandwich for my husband (he devoured it and said it was great - and it was BIG like really hearty) and I had fish tacos... not complaining about them but they weren't something I would order if we ever go back. I'll probably try the burger next time - I saw people at a table who were having burgers after I already placed our order and wish I had gotten that instead lol! read more
