It serves traditional quick Vietnamese food (pho, bun, com) but in a more upscale setting than your usual mom&pop, BUT with the same pricing. I think this is my new go-to pho spot! We were in the mood for some pho & stumbled across this place on yelp. As soon as we walked in, the ambiance itself was great! Everything felt so, "clean" (if that makes any sense). I ordered their pho filet tai & was not disappointed. Great place to get Pho. Wish they had fresh shrimp spring rolls, but the pork one was awesome and I recommend it. They have traditional Pho with tripe, and the American version without. A bottle of Sriracha and Hoisin sauce at the table, which I greatly appreciate (verses getting a tiny amount in some condiment bowls that some places do). We came to Lotus & Light today cause we were in the area for business. By far one of the best places I've been to in Burbank. The ladies working here are truly amazing and very attentive. We ordered the spring rolls, Vietnamese coffee, and pho. The Vietnamese iced coffee is prepared on the spot fresh for you. The spring rolls were delicious, they had a real nice crunch and used the best produce. Where do I begin with the pho... The broth was refreshing and rich in flavor. Get the fried pork egg rolls! But be careful, they're super fresh so they're hot in the middle. The wrapper on these aren't the traditional egg roll wrappers I'm used to seeing but I like them so much better because they feel less greasy. I got the chicken over rice. I've never had this anywhere else before so I have nothing to compare it to, but I really liked it. It came with what tasted like 3 ginger based sauces, all very fresh and tasty. The rice itself had some ginger flavor to it too which was delicious! I'd order again. Viet Iced Coffee was so good! I've had plenty and this was by far my fave. It wasn't overly sweet or bitter and it tasted like they made it fresh and on the spot. My bf got the pho with everything in it. He said the broth was lacking in flavor and the noodles were too thick for his liking. He said the flavor of the soup couldn't soak in the noodles because of how thick it was. The food is...fine. But this review is not focused on the food. It's about the poor and stingy decisions of management that really kill the customer experience. Prior to this review, I'd eaten at Lotus & Light twice. Both times, the service was so slow that we spent more than half our meal waiting on something or other (placing our orders, for the food to come, repeatedly flagging someone down to get our receipt, etc.). Both times we had to walk our receipt up to the register to move things along. However, even after these experiences, I didn't write a review - I just decided that I wouldn't dine in here again. Today I was feeling a little bit under the weather and felt like homey Vietnamese food. I remembered that Lotus & Light's chicken over rice plate came with a cup of broth that would be comforting for my cold, so I called in and placed the order for pick up. Upon arrival, I waited for quite a while for the server (note: there was only ONE server tending to 6+ tables, making drinks, AND the host stand) - something I was already expecting, so no sweat off my back. When I got back to my car, I realized that the broth had not been included in my takeout bag, so I went back in to ask about it. Upon re-entering, the server was now making a complicated drink at the bar. She made it a point to look at me but not acknowledge me, then went back to making the drink and whatever else she was doing. After literally 5+ min of standing at the host stand, I decided to just approach her at the bar to ask about the missing item. Her response was pretty ridiculous: it was management policy that the broth was dine-in only, and that if I wanted it, I would have to pay extra...what? To be honest, if this "policy" was something that was on their menu, or even if the person taking down my order gave me a heads up about this, I'd be less inflamed. But this was clearly just a management decision to nickel and dime their customers without being transparent. That, combined with practically no front of house staff paints a picture of stingy, penny-counting ownership. Read through many of the other reviews on their page and you'll see that management is clearly trying to get by with the fewest # of staff as possible, and now apparently also by trying to charge extra for things that were already part of a dish, which is so ridiculous. I try to support independently owned restaurants as much as possible, but will not being doing so with Lotus and Light anymore. I guess they care more about an extra $2 than customer loyalty. Really really good Vietnamese food in Burbank. If you know this plaza, you know of bea beas and their delicious breakfast and brunch. This is the same owner! Open for lunch and dinner, the Vietnamese food is really solid albeit a tad pricey. It's really nicely decorated inside and it gives off a real hipster vibe. I've had the vermicelli, the chicken and rice, and pho. All were solid dishes but the chicken and rice was soooo good. It was a lot like hainan chicken. The broth was delicious and delicate. The rice was definitely cooked in the broth as you're able to taste subtle hints of chicken. You get 3 dipping sauces for the chicken and all of them were so good. As far as the pho, the bowls were huge! I wasn't even able to finish my bowl. A lot of ample parking but can be hard to find during the crazy lunch hour. read more

They have the best filet mignon chili basil rice and bangkok noodles rolls. I work nearby and will always call for pick up and it's typically ready on time. The interior decor is a nice touch in a strip mall. It's light and airy. The only downfall is the wait time for food and an occasional lack luster customer service. I'll start off by saying the food is fantastic. The 3 stars is due to the service. Although everyone is very friendly, they definitely are working through many kinks as a new business. Service is VERY SLOW. It took 20+ minutes to receive each appetizer (APPETIZER!). My husband and I both ordered the coconut drink and I got mine about 20 minutes before him which was also bizarre. By the time we received our entree we were well over an hour and a half into our visit. We had ordered our dessert when we placed our meal order and had to ask them to wrap it up since we were antsy to leave. It still took about 15 minutes to get to us by the time we asked for it. This is a terrific pho restaurant in the Burbank/Studio City area! It feels a bit more posh than other LA vietnamese restaurants (read: a little less "authentic") but it was the perfect place for a work lunch. First of all, the portions are HUGE! The bowls of pho will truly satisfy any appetite. I came nowhere close to finishing my portion and I eat tons. We wish the broth was a bit saltier (shocking for pho!) but that was easily fixed with some sriracha to spice it up. The meal's real highlight, though, are the fried spring rolls which are to die for! We could have had three portions of these and would have still wanted more. To top it all off, the service was outstanding. Our waitress was warm, funny, and so efficient. Very clean food here. Super nice staff! I had tnt chicken over rice with fried wings as the appetizer. The chicken over rice was amazing. Not a kernel of rice was left when I was through. It comes with sliced (steamed?) chicken, pickled veggies, and a form of sticky rice. Its not Japanese sushi style, it's its own thing. Quite delicious. The wings unfortunately were over salted. I just discovered this great spot last night and I am a fan! The bright interior is really inviting, with some really nice touches (fresh flowers, a great bar area). Our server, Serena, was *fantastic* - she was so warm and friendly, and there were regulars having dinner who know her by name. The food was excellent! And portions were huge. Bright, open space with super friendly staff! We had a ladies night out here to catch up in the New Year. They had a great selection of tea that came out with a timer that so that you steeped the tea properly. We tried 3 apps: the fried egg rolls, the bangkok noodles, and the fried tofu. The tofu was airy and tasty. The green dipping sauce that came with the bangkok noodles was AWESOME! (we had to ask for another side of it) I got the chicken over rice, which came with 3 tasty dipping sauces. The chicken was a little over steamed/boiled, but it was still tasty. Our waiter was being very pushy, kept disrupting us when we were in the middle of conversation. When we looked at the bill, he circled out the "suggested tips" part, which never happened to us before. My friend felt very uncomfortable and looked at the next table's bill who just left the restaurant, he didn't circle the tips part on the bill to that table. I don't know what's going on. I am very friendly and patient with waitstaff as I don't need to risk having anyone spit in my food...so when I politely inquired about the status of a large lunch order for 10 people (I called an hour ahead and still had to wait 45 minutes), the two servers (who clearly hate their job) immediately got passive aggressive and snippety, and even gaslit me: "Um, you actually called 30 minutes ago to make your order so if you can be patient for just a few more minutes, thanks!!!"--I had to show her my call log for when I had called in. It truly took them one hour and 45 minutes to prepare their mediocre food, and they had the AUDACITY to get impatient with me. In order to calm them down, I had to APOLOGIZE to THEM: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to add on any more stress to your day." Having worked in retail and the service industry, I get that you have to deal with the occasional entitled a-hole but if you ever dine at this place, it'll be the opposite. prepare to be treated as an inconvenience. I was on my dinner break from work, and I was heading to Emon's....but Emon was closed due to Labor Day weekend. So I popped inside Lotus and Light to check out the menu. It's a Vietnamese restaurant. I guess this place just opened up. The restaurant is modern and impeccable. I was greeted at the front right away by a lovely woman, she made some recommendations and was very helpful. I ordered the Vegetable Pho soup, a fresh homemade lemonade, and for dessert I ordered the honey lavender ice cream! The food was so fresh and tasty. The service was outstanding!! Everyone was so helpful and kind, and made sure that all that I ordered was satisfactory. I need to come here on a night off, their wine list looked amazing. read more

There were only 2 servers and one of them wouldn't even make eye contact. It felt very discriminatory since he would serve every other table except ours. A really pleasant delicious surprise. Don't let the fact that it is in a nondescript shopping center next to a Fantastic Sam's dissuade you. We ordered vermicelli noodles with pork, steamed chicken with ginger dipping sauces, and sautéed filet mignon with rice. All of it was really tasty.
