I ordered Take out food two times there and both times were not impressed with customer service person and how fast it gets ready for pickup. I expect that lunch time orders should be ready in 5-10 minutes but here they make it 15-20 min. Not acceptable! For example: Ceasar salad the easiest salad to make: romaine, cheese, croutons and dressing. It should take less than 5 minutes to pack it and ready to go or have them pre packed ready to go. But 20 minutes when no other customer is in the shop at 1.30pm? There was a manager nearby who reacted on the delay and offered me the free chips for waiting. Nice gesture at my first visit. I also think that prices are way too high for sandwiches and salads. There is a Sorrento deli couple doors away and their sandwich prices are almost 2x less. read more

I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of this service. For around $8 - $12, they'll deliver lunch from a local restaurant right to your work location. Each day the menu changes, but the lunch items are sourced from rotating restaurants like Rubicon Deli, Ponce's and Prepkitchen. There are always a diverse number of options that span healthy, non-healthy, veggie, etc. Here's the 411: You sign up on their website and begin receiving an email each morning with that day's pre-set menu. Submit your oder by 10:30am along with payment details and lunch arrives around 11:30 - 12:00. They text you when the driver is about 5 minutes away and then again when they leave your lunch at the front desk. It's cheaper than Grub Hub and you pay for everything, including tip, online so you never have to worry about having cash. I was just telling a friend the other day I hope their model succeeds because it's so affordable and convenient. read more

Here's how it works: Each day, LuckyBolt picks up food (generally salads, sandwiches, burritos, and burrito bowls) from 2-3 of SF's most awesome food purveyors (e.g., Nopa, Wise Sons, El Farolito, Molinari, Green Chile Kitchen, Little Green Cyclo, Ike's Place, South Paw BBQ). They post the menu online the night before. Before 10:45 a.m., you go to their website and choose your foods and pay by credit card. Then anytime between 11:30 and 1, you go to their bicycle courier at Market and Beale, give them your name, and pick up your food. Easy peasy, insanely fast, and super delicious. And as far as I can tell, you pay the same prices as you would at the restaurant, minus the wait, the cash-only restrictions, and the walk. And the cart magically keeps everything nice and hot. There is a bench across the street where you can sit and eat in the sun, or walk a couple blocks to the Embarcadero. Bonus: if you're the first order of the day, your next lunch is free! If you work nearby, this is the best option I've found for a fast and tasty lunch that changes from day to day. Only downside is I think they don't have beverages, so make sure to BYO. read more

I've ordered from them multiple times- everything is the highest standard of quality and exceptional taste. It is usually my splurge meals price wise but it's always worth it. Their delivery has always been on time and punctual. We especially enjoy their frozen biscuits and scones which tend to sell out quickly! Recently I placed an order and when it was delivered something happened and we weren't notified of the delivery like usual. I was super bummed to find my food had sat out on the porch and wasn't usable. I decided to reach out and ask about it although I hate being "that" person. The owner emailed me back and advised that they would send us a brand new order the same day and we're looking into why it happened. The replacement order arrived a few moments ago. Great idea but it needs a LOT of work. First, they send you an email with a link that says what restaurants they're working with. You click on the link and it's a limited list of things, mostly sandwiches and salads, very rarely do they have anything like an entree. Second, with the exception of one time that I clicked on the link during a holiday week(4th of July) everything is sold out. They don't ever mention what time you need to order by but having everything sold out when I get to work at 10 AM tells me they are either doing great business or they're failing terribly. I'd recommend avoiding these guys because it's more frustrating than it's worth to get a email with a list of sold out food every day. If they already have a shitload of customers then they should only send emails to a subset of them so everything isn't sold out all the time. read more

I am a solo mom to a toddler and live in Point Loma. I use Lucky Bolt delivery and would give more than 5 stars if I could. The food is extremely fresh and well prepared. It's delicious and is more like home-cooked than restaurant food. It's better than restaurant food! It is truly delicious and creative and nourishing. I'm from South Africa where so much of what we ate was grown in the backyard. And all the meals were elaborate and cooked at home, so I have very high standards. This food reminds me of my childhood and actually makes me happy. It's the best food I've had in a long time. In addition to the quality of the food, the company is amazing. The owner called me because my order was going to be one day late. He comped my food and upgraded it to the most delicious lamb meal I have ever eaten. Today I ordered a banana cream pie from Mission Pie, which I've always wanted to try but it's so far I haven't had the chance to drive out. My lunch meeting went over and I totally forgot about my order that was ready for pickup at 1:00. I received a text message from the delivery person saying that my food was ready and he would wait for me or he could even bring it to me (which was pretty awesome of him to offer). After my speed walk I finally approach Brian, who mentions to me he's one of the founders of Lucky Bolt (eek, which made me even more embarrassed), and I apologize for making him wait. He didn't seem annoyed like I thought anyone would be after having to wait for more than 20 minutes, only concerned that I was getting my pie. And that was that. Hidden gem! They don't have signage up top like the neighboring restaurants and shops but if you park and walk up you'll see it. Everything I've tried is delicious and made with quality ingredients. The owner is very nice and when I couldn't decide on which sandwich (egg or chicken salad) because they were both amazing, he not only let me try both but let me do halves of each. This place is great. My husband and I accidentally came in after their usual closing time and the owner was super accommodating. We were able to try the honey mustard chicken sandwich, mango ginger dessert bar, and peanut butter chocolate cookie and everything was amazing. Besides being freshly made, gluten free, organic, vegan, and paleo options; I'm never disappointed my selections. They use to have an option to add tip but have discontinued during checkout after placing an order. I have now started giving gratuity tip to our driver assigned to my company. Evelyn is truly awesome. Leaving an envelope at the front reception desk with her tip to let her know much I appreciate her services. They surely deserve it. I swung by to check out Luckybolt's menu. I'm vegan and I try to eat whole foods plant based, as in avoiding the processed foods. I saw they had a veggie Sandwich containing beets, apples and walnut spread inside this thick but tasty looking bread. OMG, it is one of the most unique, healthful, superb sandwiches I have ever had. The bread is baked in- house. It's toasty in the outside and medium fluffy on the inside, what I perfect combination with the veggies. Finally, a good food option in Mission Bay! Before I discovered Lucky Bolt, there was a total dearth of good lunch options nearby. Lucky Bolt has menu items from two different purveyors daily, such as Ike's or Morty's. It's not all sandwiches, either! I have seen Thai, Indian and Middle Eastern selections as well. A new menu is posted daily. To order, you go online to choose between about 10 different items, and then pay. Between 11:30 and 1pm, you go to Third and Gene Friend Way to pick it up. Simple! Their customer service is excellent. They do not currently offer a way to make changes to your order online, but you can call/email and they can make the change for you. That's how I got my Ike's on gluten-free bread - I was totally fiending for a sandwich. Once, I mistakenly ordered the wrong thing, and Alex switched his lunch for mine. Wow. LuckyBolt.... 5-star convenience, 2-star product. In case you haven't heard yet, LuckyBolt is an online food delivery service for office drones. Every day, LuckyBolt's menu features items from a rotating selection of local restaurants. If you have an account open and credit card on file, you can order food with one click, which will then be delivered to the front desk of your workplace by 12pm. Once the food has arrived, you'll be notified via both text and email. (In other words: it's Uber for food.) There's no doubt that LuckyBolt is convenient. It's easier than ordering a pizza, walking to a food truck, or (heaven forbid) going to an actual restaurant. It's a perfect emblem of today's app-centric, on-demand culture. But here's the rub: the food quality isn't there. I've ordered from LuckyBolt a handful of times now, and the food has ranged from mediocre to just plain bad. I wasn't impressed by the lukewarm pad see ew noodles from Chedi Thai Bistro a few weeks back. I was even less impressed by last Friday's teriyaki quinoa bowl with chicken and veggies, which had the consistency of baby food and the flavor of...nothing. Rumor has it that LuckyBolt's sandwiches are better -- especially now that they partner with Rubicon Deli and the Deli Llama. I'll try those and report back later. read more

My company started using Lucky Bolt for lunch delivery services daily and let me tell you we are BEYOND impressed. All of the food/menu items have been outstanding, they delivery on time consistently and the food arrives in tact (hot, cold, whatever it is supposed to be). So how it works is you sign up and they have a menu that you choose from daily that includes two different places where you can order from, for instance yesterday was Prep Kitchen or The Kebab Shop Mira Mesa and they have about 5 different items from each place you can order from. You place your order by 10:30 AM and lunch is delivered no later than 12:30 PM. You get an email and/or text when your lunch arrives. Ours is left in our lobby with each person's name on it and we go down and pick it up. It's perfect because you use your own credit card so no billing back for corporations, etc. I love this service and I have a feeling more people are going to start offering this which is fantastic for busy people who can't seem to go out and grab something for lunch or didn't prepare their lunch.
