I shared this sandwich with 3 people.

We were in the neighborhood and decided to stop by for a bun mi sandwich. They have 2 different size bread, regular and large. I went with the large and it was huge once she put everything together. We ordered the cold cut and added grilled pork. One side of the bread has pate and the other side is the special mayo. The layout is just like subway, the person behind the counter will ask you if you want all the toppings or if you're picky just tell her. We also ordered the thai tea to drink with. Easy location, street parking with meters in the front otherwise they have a few spaces in the parking behind the store.

Banh Mi @davideatsdc

Delicious banh mi sandwiches, large is decently filling but still need some sides imo. Everything was great, the meats were flavorful (meatball was my favorite but grilled pork was also very good), the pate was delicious. Wish there were more pickled veggies/jalapenos, and the bread was a bit soft, but still a very very enjoyable banh mi. Also tried the garden rolls (good, but very little pork and shrimp), the peanut sauce was pretty good, and the banh cam was nice too.

Simply amazing!!! You're not going to find a better Vietnamese sandwich around. Lu's makes a top notch banh mi. When I come to Lu's I usually go with their pork sandwich, however any meat option is amazing. Also, don't forget to try their amazing egg rolls.

Lu's Sandwich is an unassuming fast casual restaurant, located at the heart of the Northeast neighborhood in Minneapolis that is definitely worth a visit. The actual restaurant is very straightforward with no frills. You order at the front on an iPad, and then sit down and wait for your food. Takeout is also extremely popular here so be prepared for a bit of a line, although they move really fast here. Food: You have to get a banh mi when you come here. For those unfamiliar, a banh mi is an extremely popular Vietnamese sandwich consisting of meat, Mayo, pate, some pickled vegetables, cilantro, and a few other things tossed onto a baguette. Lu's just nails this perfectly and for a very reasonable price. The baguette is incredibly fresh and fluffy on the inside while still being crusty on the outside. The sandwiches are HUGE and packed with so much flavor. I absolutely love these and around $7-9, it's hard to beat this in Minneapolis. Drinks: I am a huge fan of Thai tea so I have to get it every time I see it on the menu. Overall it was pretty good Thai tea, but is definitely outshined by the delicious banh mi. It is definitely on the above average side of Thai tea in the Twin Cities area, but definitely not a must get. Overall, I absolutely recommend Lu's and definitely you have to get a banh mi when you come.

Receipt showed I did not ask for no pate

I've been a customer for a long time and til this day they always miss something with my togo order. My most recent order, missing some veggies (not pictured) and no pate in all 3 of my cold cuts.

Cold cut banh mi and grilled chicken banh mi

Some of the best banh mi sandwiches we've tried. Bread was crispy, veggies were fresh, and the grilled chicken was marinated and delicious. Would definitely come back and get again. And a decent price for the amount of food!

Finally got around to trying Lu's in Northeast, and it met the hype!! They offer banh mi sandwiches as well as bowls, and a few sides like egg rolls and Thai tea. It's a smaller menu, but they do it all well! The Thai tea with boba was great, and I would totally recommend as a drink if you want to treat yourself to something sweet! The sandwich was also tasty, and all of the vegetables inside were super crisp which I appreciated! The vegetables, in combination with the baguette, made it feel like the perfect light lunch. The sauces were also awesome, but my friend added avocado to her sandwich and I will absolutely be doing that in the future! It helped cut some of the spice from the jalapeños. I tried the chicken which was good, but I would also try something new to branch out in the future! They have free parking which is amazing in Northeast. We sat on the patio to enjoy our sandwiches, but the restaurant also smelled amazing if you ever get the chance to eat inside in a COVID-free future. All of the employees wore masks appropriately, but they also offer contactless pickup if you prefer!!

We used to go when they were across the street in the small space. To me this is the OG Vietnamese place to recommend when people ask where to get great Vietnamese food. Food is always good and service is great. It has been a long time since I've been here and I'm glad to see they still have a lot of options available, even weekend specials. I had to taste the banh cuon since that is a weekend specials and not easily found in restaurants. It did not disappoint. The nuoc mam was perfect. Filling was good but I wish there were more fresh herbs for garnish. Bun Bo hue was filled with meat and protein!! I can't believe how much was in there. I normally don't like a ton of meat but this was so tender I ate it all. Pho was good. Broth had a strong star anise flavor but I like that. The mi hoanh ton soup was good but not the best. The wontons were huge! I appreciate the amount of protein in it. Cream cheese wontons flavor was good, wish there was more than 4 pieces per order though. Nem nuong serving size was pretty small. Wish we would've ordered the nem nuong spring rolls instead. Bubble tea tasted like strawberry milk, very sweet. Not my favorite but my daughter gave it 10/10. Salmon rice was good, we were able to add eggs for $4. The chili oil is very hot so be careful how much you add. 4% discount if you pay in cash. Gratuity added for parties of 5 or more. Easy to grab to go at the front if you are in a rush. We grabbed more to go after we ate too. The tri color dessert was ok, not my favorite but I liked the sweetness of the coconut milk in there. We grabbed a banh mi that was ready to go and that was good! Bread was crispy, but maybe too much bread ratio to filling. Banh bao was massive too, expensive for $8.

Got a table right away on a Sunday for dinner…read more The cream cheese wontons came out quick and were hot, just lacked a little crisp. Lots of cream cheese ratio. Buon Bo Hue was spicy, had a good amount of meat. Pho broth was flavorful and passed for good pho. I hated the bowl, it is so narrow and you can barely fit any additional toppings. Nem Nuong was underwhelming, a lot smaller than expected. Banh Cuon is a weekend special. They were pretty thick and didn't absorb much of the sauce but had a good balance of filling and toppings. There was an automatic tip for a party of 5 and you save 4% if you pay in cash

Cons: - Mentioned in the above description.

The poolside in Koh Samui and who can forget the Luna Duna to go with the sticky rice and the crispy rice salad and pork belly. We continued drinking the night away and enjoying good food. Well thinking I would go to Pho Hua instead, I pulled intonthe Shuang Hur Grocer's parking lot thinking I'd grab a few things before heading north on Eat Street. Then I saw signs on the Shuang Hur building for a (new to me) Vietnamese joint in the same building. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! My Huong is an 8-top hole in the wall across the parking lot from the rear of El Nuevo Mariachi Restaurant. The place is homely, small, but brightly lit and plenty of day light through the picture windows overlooking Eat Street. It's a big contrast to Pho 79 type places that are dim and short on ambience. The clientele shows. Instead of just a bunch of Asians throwing down Pho, it's a mix like you'd see at Quang or Eat Street Crossing. I was seated right away, was greeted by a cheery Vietnamese lady, and ordered Hu Tieu Bo Khu (Beef Stew Noodle Soup.) It was a dish I haven't seen before even though I have been to so many Vietnamese places (see my other reviews and lists.) The dish came very quickly, and I was shocked that they didn't bring it with a veggie plate. Oh well. Well the best way I could describe Hu Tieu Bo Khu, its basically a pot roast over noodles. So the beefy broth like a less spicey version of Bun Bo Hue, with flavors of lemongrass and star anise, nicely garnished already with what would have been on a veggie plate. The broth was delicious, slightly sweet with the carrots, and the beef was fall apart amazingly stewed with deep flavor. There were other menu items like Curry Chicken pho and a Stewed chicken rice dish I'd have to return and try!

No-frills, wood panels for days, and the "casual" service your get at the best asian restaurants. My wife got the pho she'd been craving and it was decent. There aren't any "great" pho places in MN so can't be too picky. The hot and sour soup was huge. The picture doesn't do it justice,. That's a serving spoon in the picture! It didn't have much tamarind, was a bit sweet, and an interesting choice of okra; some of which were a bit slimy (as okra can get). The tofu was perfectly fried and had a nice bouncy texture. Dianes Hmong Sausage - if you get the egg you can have it prepared anyway, I went for medium over easy. Crab Ragoon Danish- it was good, but for me the concentration of the crab ragoon in the center made some bites a bit poweful. Asian Chicken Noodle Soup- that broth is amazing. It's rich and hearty (not at all watery). Thai Tea French Toast- my friend and I shared, this along with everything listed below. Its so good and 1pc was more than enough. Also, I'm not a raspberry fan, but that tartness went so well with sweetness. Vegetable Spring Rolls- tasty and the peanut sauce reminded me more of a sweet and sour sauce which I liked. Crab Omelette- I only had a bite, but the egg light, the sauce rich and creamy, and the greens had a bit of mint that was a nice touch. Pan Fried Bean Thread Noodle - I was so stuffed, but the few bites were good. It was a little saucy, and the sauce a bit powerful. I don't know if was fish sauce or something else. I normally like fish sauce, but if that's what it didn't work for me here. Other things to note: Parking - I found myself having to spin the block for a bit to find a spot. No biggie, but keep that in mind as you plan your commute. Entrance - I noticed 3 doors along 14th Ave, one is for the To-Go section, the other two are for the Dine-in, which includes bar seating, table seating inside and outside. Service - both times, servers were overall polite. With the second visit I noticed the waiter focused a lot on my friend, how she enjoyed her meal (didn't ask me), facing her only when introducing himself and explaining the specials.
