I kept seeing this place all over social media so I've been wanting to try it. There were about 12 tables and a lot of customers were there. They had one time use utensils and cups. Our server was nice and I like that you had to decide what to order before being seated. There isn't a lot of parking right infront of the restaurant but it is connected to a big plaza so there shouldn't be trouble finding parking. It just depends on how far you want to walk. We got bulgogi cheese fries, chicken katsu, rice balls and of course the tteok-boki! Surface level everything was enjoyable! CHICKEN KATSU was definitely the star of the show though!!! Where do I even begin.. I am in shock with how many people don't know about this place. The food was phenomenal and the service was friendly and quick. The vibe is chill with music playing at the perfect volume & lights along the ceiling to set the scene. For starters they have a buy 1 get 1 free happy hour from 12pm-12am for drinks of equal or lesser value, are group friendly and man oh man the portions are MASSIVE, fresh & tasty. Everything we ordered here was AMAZING. We definitely underestimated the size of the plates because we left with 3 plates of leftovers but honestly with how delicious the food is, couldn't be more thrilled to have a round 2 at home. I ordered the chicken katsu with rice and curry (I added melted mozzarella on one of them as suggested by another review) -this dish is big enough to feed a group of anywhere between 4-8 imo. The crunch was amazing whilst the meat was tender. The flavor of everything on this plate was far from lacking. Everything paired so nicely together. & I'm glad I listened to another review that suggested adding melted cheese 10/10 BOMB! Hubby ordered the spicy chicken with cheese -it's presented on a skillet and was made fresh it was literally bubbling. Packed with flavor and love that it comes with cabbage and rice cakes. Delicious !! Hubby gave it a 8.5/10 We ordered my son the bulgogi cheese fries -it was listed as one of their best sellers and after having it, I definitely understand the hype. The fries were fresh and crisp had a slight spice to it and was jam packed with flavors from the onions, sauce, cheese & bulgogi. Sooooooo good!! Definitely going to be craving these in the future. 10/10 FIRE!! Limeade -the limeade is non refillable and the taste is different but not bad by any means it's strong in flavor and almost has a li hing after taste which I enjoyed. okay so I will say it tastes DELICIOUS (even tho it smells like it doesnt) but the portion does not match the cost. $18 and some change for a half-inch layer of corn barely the size of my hand (that is small btw) for the price and the pictures on the menu I expected at least a bigger container...or at least for the small container to be filled lmao....$18 for this is ridiculous. Plus they burned it, again it smells funky but tastes good however I still feel SO cheated bc that doesn't make up for the price being practically most of what it costs to eat at an AYCE KKBQ where you can get unlimited corn cheese. also as my first time there I walked in to the from and this lady almost escorted me out like a security when I said I was picking up an order she rolled her eyes and said "Yup. Go outside and go around" pointing to the window facing the back of the parking lot. Finally came here today after seeing posts online. The wait time wasn't that bad considering it was a weekend. We waited maybe 10 mins after checking in. A server came outside to take our order and told us will call us when our table was ready. After 5-7 mins our table was ready and we were seated. Food came out maybe 5 minutes later. We ordered the giant tteok-bokki and Katsu combo. It came with a soda also. The meal was gigantic. Katsu was delicious . Was our first time eating tteok-bokki so we don't have anything to compare to but was good . We ordered the spicy , it wasn't too to us . Portions are HUGE so it's worth coming with others and sharing. We got the Giant Short Rib which was my favorite because the meat was so soft and flavored well. Such a good touch to Tteokbokki flavors that it came with. Also got Garlic Noodles with Bulgogi which was really good and aromatic because of the onion slices. They were very nice and helpful hate that we kind of feel rush we just want to enjoy our food. But the music was kind of loud wish they can low it a little would be nice . Ok, to admit, this was kind of an interesting experience. It was our first time trying Luv Dduk, and I think the food was pretty tasty. The right amount of crispy and the right amount of flavor. Although it would have been nice to study the menu better in a more sit down manner, versus ordering outside before being seated. I take it the turn around is big for this place as initially the attention was nice, but later while we were still finishing up a bit, it started to feel rushed. Which became a down side to the evening. I get it, we were getting full and only picking at the dishes, but we wanted to enjoy our food. So the food is what this high rating is about. We stumbled upon this place when we discovered this little corner restaurant serving some of my favorite Korean comfort foods. For being a Sunday, the parking lot was relatively empty for such a big plaza. The plaza includes some boba places, Filipino Bakeries and Restaurants, and a Seafood City. I can't deny that the portions are huge here. For the price you pay, you get a whole lot of food. We opted for the Tteok-bokki, chicken katsu, cheese steamed egg, and the kimchi fried rice. I wasn't really big on the flavor, texture, and presentation of the foods. The steamed egg with cheese sounded really good but was thrown off when we received it. For $9. we received a steamed egg with some shredded cheese and a slice piece on top in a paper bowl. The katsu was impressive for its portion but was rough on the texture. I'm not sure if I would come back here again since Korean restaurants are abundant nearby at Buena Park. I hope we just came on a bad day, and maybe the foods are not to my liking but may be great on someone else's taste buds. read more

Since it was packed, they took our orders outside and we waited 15-20 mins before being seated--which was when our food would be ready. Kind of weird and wish that they had some benches for people to sit while waiting. Chicken tasted stale and had an odd smell, might be old frying oil or just lower quality meat. Tteokbokki was on the sweeter side and the sauce was dark and watered down. We also got 2 bottles of soju because it was a buy one get one. The corn cheese was good it kind of reminded me of elote. We ordered the Tteokboki not too spicy, but it was still pretty spicy, but everything in it was good. The chicken was good, I think it was definitely worth it to get the combo because you get the whole chicken. The garlic noodles were probably my favorite because I think it had such good flavor and the meat was cooked great! Keep in mind that if you do get the soju and come late they want you to finish your drinks before 12! First and foremost, I IMPLORE YOU if you are a party of 4, get 2-3 things MAX. Portion sizes are HUGE. Not just big. HUGE. It's fantastic! But we ended up with MANY leftovers cuz we didn't know actually how big the portions would be lol. Now for the review. We got on the waitlist prior to arriving through Yelp. We updated the waitlist when we got there to let Luv Dduk know our whole party had arrived. An employee came out and called our name (reading off of the waitlist) and took our order outside before they seated us (about 10 minutes after our whole party arrived). A little unconventional, but that wasn't a big deal. Then you wait until they call you again to seat you inside. This took around 20 minutes. They seated us with two of our dishes already on the table. We got the Garlic Beef Noodles, the Bulgogi Fries, the Chicken Katsu, and the Beef Back Rib Tteokbokki combo. Again, this was WAY too much food for 4 people, we just weren't sure since this was our first time here. That said, everything was very tasty! Our waiter was very kind and came by often to check on us and they were so nice. The Garlic Beef Noodles were a perfect garlic flavor and the beef was very well flavored. The noodles were cooked perfect and it was a nice texture! Everything you'd expect it to be. My and my husband's personal favorite were the Bulgogi fries, the cheese pull was amazing and the fries stayed crisp under the cheese and sauces. The meat was very tasty and there was a little spicy kick to these fries. Again, a great sharing size (even though the picture on the menu makes them look small, they are not!) The Chicken Katsu was MASSIVE. And you get TWO (see picture for reference to our friend's hands). The breading was very good and it came with a Katsu sauce and a curry. The Katsu sauce is refillable for free, whereas the curry is an extra charge if you want more. Our waiter came by and cut this up for us and made it easier to eat, which we appreciated. Finally, the Beef Back Rib Tteokbokki Combo. This was a HUGE portion. The bowl was the biggest bowl I've ever seen. I really enjoyed the rice cakes, a perfect chewy texture if you're into that kind of thing (my husband wasn't, but I was. To each their own). The sauce is on the spicier side, but it was definitely manageable if you like spice. The beef ribs were good, nothing too exciting. A little dry, but tasty. This combo came with their corn cheese, which was a great portion size as well. This is not your typical corn cheese that you get when you go to KBBQ. It has a slightly different texture and flavor, so don't expect it to taste just like the corn cheese you may be use to. It wasn't our favorite, but it was fun to try. Addressing some negatives from other reviews: We didn't mind ordering outside and waiting, it's different than normal but it wasn't a big deal. The ambiance of the restaurant is a fun vibe. The music reminds me of a club or a bar. The lighting is good and everything was clean. The water is in a pitcher on your table and there are plastic cups for each person to refill as much as you want. The plastic cups really didn't bother us. They also will bring you another pitcher of water after you run out. The prices were justified I would say for the portion sizes. Maybe a *little* pricy but this is SoCal, we weren't surprised by the pricing and expected the portions to be smaller. This is of course just our opinion. I came here with my friends on a Thursday night, and we got seated fairly quickly. It had been a while since I had been to this location, and I believe when I came here, it was before the name of the restaurant changed from Yuppduk to Luvdduk (I find that Yupdduk was much better). My friends and I opted for the the Luv Dduk Set Menu B. For the spice, we got level 1 (mild), thinking that it would be extremely spicy, but it actually was super super super mild. I also feel like the portion sizes have decreased, but with this economy, not that much of a surprise. The rice balls were good, the salad was whatevers, and fries on the side was fine (nothing special, just fries). We got the side of Chinese noodles, and that was a good addition to the Tteok Bokki. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE HAPPY HOUR. They have BOGO happy hour (+50 cents) on selected soju and beers, and the soju came out to be $15 a bottle, but I guess that is average now and days for pochas. But I wouldn't say it's worth it. Also, make sure you check your bill at the end. We were charged 18% automatic gratuity despite only being a party of 4. After asking about it, they apologized and took it off the bill. There is also a special cash pricing, so if you want to save a few bucks, bring cash with you. Probably the best teokbokki I have ever had! Love that it came in a huge shareable bowl with additions like ramen and eggs and other ingredients to customize to your taste profile. I'm not much of a spicy person but meals like this really help me enjoy it! I also have to recommend the Bulgogi Garlic Noodles. These blew my mind.
